It has been a week since Hailey and mouse were saved but nothing was going easy for them. Jay walked into Mouses room and he was laid in the bed but staring out the window.

"Mouse. You ok?" Jay asked

"Yeah. I think. How long have we been back?"

"About 5 years"

"And I work where?"

"In the intelligence unit with me. I'm a detective but you're a technical analyst"

"And you have a girlfriend and a baby"

"She's in the unit with us"

"Ok"

Jay unpacked food for mouse and looked at him. He was just an empty shell of a person and jay was struggling with him asking the same questions everyday and not remembering.

"Do you think I'll ever remember?"

"The doctor said it's a possibility but it's early days yet. I've gotta run but you gonna be ok?"

"Yeah thankyou"

Jay left and walked down the corridor and turned into Haileys room. She wasn't in the bed,

"Hailey, you in the restroom?" He got no answer. He put his coat on the chair and walked back out the room. He walked through a door and up a flight of stairs and walked to the end of the corridor turning in a room,

"I thought you'd be here. You shouldn't be walking"

"I just wanted to see her again" Hailey said stood there in her robe

Jay wrapped his arm round her and they both looked down at the incubator, "she's doing great hails"

"I just want to hold her"

"Soon. She just needs a little bit longer"

"Hows mouse?"

"Still nothing but we've got time"

"I should of stopped him sooner and he wouldn't of hurt mouse that bad"

"Hailey. This is not your fault. You had been shot in the leg, beaten and in labour. You still saved yourself and him"

"One of the men in there. His wife was pregnant just like me"

"Hailey listen to me" he said grabbing her hands, "they hurt you, they were bad people. Our daughter would still be growing if it wasn't for them"

"She doesn't even have a name yet" Hailey said

"The right one will come to us"

"I'm really tired. I think I'm just going to go back to bed" Hailey said, "I'll see you later" she walked away from him and he watched her go as he looked back down at this daughter.

Jay knew Hailey was struggling with the aftermath of what happened but just was an expert at PTSD and knew it was going to be hard for her. He waited a couple of minutes and then walked back down to Haileys room. She was laid in bed facing the window, he sat in the chair as she slept when he phone rang,

"Halstead"

"It's Voight"

"Everything ok?"

"Yeah, hows everything?"

"Mouse still can't remember anything, Hailey is resting and baby is improving well"

"Well you just take all the time you need and we'll be here when you get back"

"Thanks Sarge"

Jay hung up, "Voight?" Hailey said

"Erm yeah"

"Thought so"

"Hailey have you thought.. about maybe.. talking to someone"

"I'm fine."

"It's just. There's sometimes effects from-"

"I don't need a shrink"

"Okay okay"

Jay sat next to Hailey as she laid in the bed and she looked at him, "I'm ok jay, you need to believe me. It scared me a damn lot but we're safe now"

"Just make sure you tell me if you're not okay. I know what the effects of PTSD are like"

"Jay I know. I just want to be out of this place. I hate hospitals"

"The doctor said a few more days because of the surgery and they want to make sure you don't get any infections"

"Okay, do you think she'll be able to come home with us"

"I'm not sure hails, it will depend on how her lungs are doing"

"I'm really tired Jay. I think I'm just gonna sleep"

"Okay, I'm gonna head to the district but I'll be back in a few hours"

"Ok"

"Love you Hailey" he said kissing her head before he walked out.

Jay was walking through the hospital towards the exit but all he could think about was how his best friend had lost his memory, his girlfriend wasn't talking to him and didn't want to talk about what happened and a baby girl who was born two months early and is yet to breathe on her own. He wanted to just fix everything for them all but he had a feeling that it wasn't going to be that easy.
