They were both very happy when they woke up in the morning. It was their second day in Naples.
Todd was exuberant as he woke up, remembering their very raw, intense session of love making last night. He was so glad that he made Bojack so satisfied, and that the first time he made love to Bojack was successful, to say the least.
Now, they woke up feeling dreamy, full of love.
Todd, was starting to feel a bit overloaded by sensation lately, however, and was definitely wanting to take a little break in having any kind of sex... just until he can rejuvenate from last night's episode.
Bojack, was the opposite, and was feeling pumped up and even more eager to jump into bed with his husband.
"Good morning baby." Bojack said sleepily and Todd opened his eyes and kissed him on the cheek.
"Mornin' honey." Todd whispered huskily and they kissed passionately before getting up.
Todd suggested that they go out for breakfast, and they took a shower together, getting dressed. They called up Holly before and checked on their kids and just wanted to see how they were doing. School was going well, and they were having fun after school and in general.
As they were heading out Todd's mom called.
"Hey mom. How are you?" Todd asked as they got their wallet and watches, leaving their hotel.
"Hows the second honeymoon going? Oh, your dad wants to say hello!" She shuffled a bit and Todd heard his dad talk. "Hello, Todd! Tell Bojack I said hi!"
"Hey Dad!" Todd responded and his mom got back on the line.
"Oh, honey, we miss you! The last time I saw you and our grandchildren was so long ago!" She said.
Todd shook his head and chuckled lightly. "Uh.. mom, its only been like a couple of weeks. But, we'll see you for sure after we get back."
"Great! And... how is your second honeymoon going?" She said wistfully. "So sweet Bojack wanted to do this with you."
"So good. Naples is beautiful. We are seeing so much already and there's still a lot to see!" Todd said happily as they walked into town hand and hand.
"Wonderful! So... how are my grandchildren?"
"They are both doing very well. Ash is excelling in math, and Norah is doing very well in reading and science. Ash might have a date with this girl from his class. Crazy how they grow up so fast." As Todd said it, they both looked at each other with a knowing smile. "Norah is so good at her gymnastics. Ash loves soccer. We actually called them earlier before you did and talked to Holly."
"Oh... yeah, Bojack's sister! How is she?"
"Great. Do you want to talk to Boj?"
She giggled. "What a cute nickname for your hubby. Yes, I'll talk to Boj."
Todd put the phone down. "Talk to my mom, but warning... she's in one of her giggly moods!" Todd whispered and Bojack nodded with a grin.
Bojack got on the phone and cleared his throat. "Heya mom! Hows everything?"
She laughed softly. "Oh, just grand. So, how is Naples?"
"It's swarming with culture. Not just in the cheese either!"
She laughed garishly and he grinned at Todd's eye roll.
"Oh, you're funny. No wonder Todd loves you. You two have a relaxing and fun rest of the trip! Love you two!"
They said their goodbyes and they found a quaint little breakfast place about two miles from their hotel.
They ordered their breakfast and coffee, and sat down at a booth.
They saw another couple that was already sitting down. They smiled at them and they smiled back.
It was a very tall lady who was a gazelle, and a slightly shorter man who was a zebra.
The couple kissed softly as the waiter came by with Todd and Bojack's order.
Bojack bit his lip as he saw the couple before them kiss and leaned forward to kiss Todd.
Todd looked a bit surprised, but not too put out, and kissed back for a moment.
"You're so great, baby..." Bojack whispered to Todd, making him smile.
The couple looked at them and nodded appreciatively.
Bojack grinned, feeling on top of the world. Todd felt slightly uncomfortable, as Bojack was trying really hard to flirt with him. Almost to show off to the couple, it seemed like to Todd.
Todd leaned closer and whispered, "Uh, hon.. are you flirting with me for that couple?"
Bojack shook his head. He felt a bit exposed since he kinda felt like he was trying to prove who was more in love... but he didn't understand exactly why he was acting like this.
He kept thinking about how wild and wonderful their love making was last night. It made him want to shout it out on the streets how in love he was with his husband.
So... he took Todd's hand and kissed it, and licked his finger. Todd blushed and felt immediately uncomfortable.
The couple wasn't even looking at them anymore, and Todd was getting a little upset.
The look of shock on Todd's face made it apparent to Bojack that he was taking it way too far.
Todd looked down and then at Bojack, shrugging. "I'm... going to go outside."
Todd got up and walked outside quickly. Bojack felt like an ass.
The zebra guy looked at Bojack and said, "Are you two here for travel?"
Bojack nodded. "He's my husband. We're here for our second honeymoon."
The gazelle lady smiled. "Oh, we're here to get married."
"Congratulations!" Bojack said, looking at Todd who looked upset outside.
"You too!" They both said together.
Bojack sighed and nodded at them. "I got to go. I think I messed up."
They nodded sympathetically.
He got their food in a to go box and got their coffee as he walked out. Todd saw him and he put his hands on chest.
Bojack went over to him and handed him his coffee. "Baby, I... I'm sorry. I was flirting too much in there."
Todd looked at him blandly, and sighed, taking his coffee.
"Do you want to just kinda walk around and have a lackadaisical day? Kinda just do whatever we want?"
Todd shrugged. "Sure, dude."
Bojack frowned.
Todd was feeling so overloaded with the vividly intense sensory of last night that he felt almost exhausted, and Bojack thought about Todd as a whole. All his color was gone and his breathing shallow. Bojack made a choice, and took Todd's coffee.
"Okay. Baby?"
Todd looked at him.
"Let's go back to our room."
Todd shook his head. "No. Lets not." He walked off and Bojack felt his heart twist.
He caught up with Todd and said, "I'm sorry. Will you forgive me for being so brazen?"
Todd gave him.a dirty look. "What the hell does brazen mean?"
"Uh... like too forward. I don't know. Todd? Will you... are you okay? You look horrible... I mean... you look upset."
Todd rolled his eyes. "Just... shut up."
Bojack's eyes widened.
They started walking around aimlessly, and Bojack was behind him, his eyes painfully set with fresh tears.
After about ten minutes, Bojack realized they were getting lost.
"Uh, Todd?" Bojack called out to Todd, who was way ahead of him.
Todd turned around. "What?"
"We're..." he ran over to him and felt a bit out of breath. His heart twitched painfully, looking at Todd's bland expression. "We're lost."
Todd shrugged again. "Why don't you go ask for directions, then, man?"
Bojack frowned, and felt like he was just punched in the gut. "The hell? Why are you calling me man? Why are you so rude today to me? What did I do to you?"
Todd finally looked at Bojack more closely and he felt a pang of guilt in his heart as he saw that Bojack had been crying.
But he was too exhausted, much too frustrated, much too distraught to say anything. Instead, he said the opposite of what he felt.
"You... you're the one who practically wants to have sex on the street in front of complete fucking strangers!"
Bojack started crying harder. "What...what... why?"
Todd looked down.
Bojack shook his head. "Fuck you. Why don't... why don't you go be with Maude! I bet she won't even kiss you! I bet she wouldn't cuddle with you as intimately as I do! Or wake up in the middle of the night and kiss your face just... just because I love your beautiful smile!" Bojack was sobbing now. "So go be with that bitch!" He huffed and walked off.
Todd was so shocked. He wasn't expecting Bojack to ever bring up Maude. Especially like that.
Todd covered his chest and he sighed harshly. He felt so terrible now.
He knew he had overreacted to Bojack's overt, public flirting, but he felt like any touch was too much this morning.
He just didn't want Bojack to feel bad... but he ended feeling worse. Much worse.
He went into a store and got reception for his phone's data to look up where they were. They were at least twenty five minutes away by driving to their hotel. Much longer by walking.
He tried to snap out of it. This funk.
He tried to call Bojack and there was a busy signal.
"Damn!" Todd said as he walked outside.
All of a sudden, he heard a commotion nearby.
Todd saw a crowd and he heard someone exclaim something in Italian. But in between the language was the identifiable name, "Bojack!" and Todd knew only one Bojack.
He ran over and saw the crowd was swarming him due to him being recognized as the leading actor in Dealing with Maisie and other such films titled, The Horny Unicorn.
Bojack was trying his hardest to sign everyone's books and magazines, but he looked terrible, mainly because Todd knew he had been crying and his hair looked dishelved. He felt horrid himself for mistreating Bojack.
But, he realized in a pang of warmth, that Bojack was actually very wonderful looking and his charming smile turned on something within Todd and he went through the crowd.
They caught each other's eyes and Todd felt his breath swoon away as Bojack smiled at him.
"Hey! That's my husband! Todd!" Bojack said as he took Todd by the hand. The crowd whooped and hollered, and they started to run away, with Todd in the lead.
They ran for about a block and finally, stopped.
Bojack was out of breath, and looked ragged. Todd was very worried as even after two minutes, Bojack seemed to be having trouble breathing.
"Are you alright, Boj?" Todd got closer but Bojack looked away from him.
"No..." Bojack said with a wheeze. "I'm thinking no. I'm fucking old! Remember? God. I feel like I'm dyin'!"
Todd looked at him and gulped, his cheeks hot.
Bojack sighed, finally starting to catch his breath. "Fuck this. Let's go. If you aren't interested, then I'm going back by myself."
Todd nodded. "I'm coming with you."
Bojack scoffed. "Okay!"
They stood apart, until they got closer to the hotel. They touched hands briefly but Bojack was mad at him and pulled away.
Todd realized he deserved that.
When they went in their hotel room, they went to different corners of the room.
Bojack laid on the bed and closed his eyes. He felt like death. His heart was pounding.
Todd looked over at him and sighed.
They didn't talk. Bojack fell asleep.
The only thing Todd kept thinking about was how badly he needed to apologize to Bojack.
Bojack woke up after about an hour and saw Todd was reading something.
"What do you want for lunch?" Bojack asked him.
Todd jumped a bit as he didn't realize that Bojack was awake.
"Oh... uh... I don't know." Todd stammered.
"Todd... I feel bad."
Todd bit his lip and sighed. "That's my fault. I'm so sorry..."
"Oh, Todd..." Bojack realized that his heart beat has been feeling odd for awhile now and irregular. "No... babe. That's not what I'm talking about."
Todd got up and went over to him. "What is it?"
"I feel... like..my heart is so weird. I feel so terrible."
Todd leaned close to Bojack's chest and heard his heart.
"It sounds too fast." Todd said worriedly.
"I feel dizzy... I can't even stand up. And my neck... is tight... oh, my God... oh shit..." Bojack said with wide eyes. He started hyperventilating. "I think I'm having a fucking heart attack! Uh... Todd, look up the symptoms of a heart attack!"
"I'm just going to call for an ambulance!" Todd ran to the hotel phone on the other side of the bed and saw a placard that stated all the emergency numbers.
The national emergency numbers are: 113 - police. 115 - fire brigade. 118 - first aid.
Todd dialed 118 immediately and he heard the dispatch say, "Qual è la sua emergenza?"
Todd only understood a very small amount of Italian since his adopted father spoke Spanish, and the two languages were very similar. He said in a broken accent, "C'è qualcuno qui che parla inglese?"
The dispatch person said immediately, "Si."
In less than one minute someone came on the line, and Todd was grabbing Bojack's hand.
"It'll be okay... Boj... hold on... please, relax." Todd said softly, as Bojack was still hyperventilating.
"What is your emergency, please?" It was a female dispatch representative, and her accent was very thick.
"Please have a ambulance sent out to the Grand Vesuvio Hotel. We're in room 232. My husband is having trouble standing, and breathing... and he believes he's having a heart attack."
"What is his state right now?"
Todd grumbled a few curse words under his breath. "He's hyperventilating..he can't stand up without feeling faint. He looks pale and his heartbeat is irregular and fast. Please come quickly!" Todd was getting a bit hysterical now, and he was crying freely now.
"We will have an ambulance come in about ten... twenty minutes?"
Todd scoffed. "Ten or twenty minutes? What?"
Bojack wasn't calming down so Todd started rubbing his shoulders. "Please calm down, sweetheart..." Todd whispered, kissing him on the cheek chastely.
He got back on the phone. "Ma'am... please... when will they be here?"
"In ten minutes."
"Okay. Thank you."
"Welcome."
Todd sighed, and she said to call back if the ambulance wasn't there soon. They hung up.
Todd looked at Bojack with wide eyes and held him tightly. "I love you. Oh, I love you. Please be okay! Bojack... baby... the ambulance is coming!" Todd sobbed.
"You speak Italian, baby?" Bojack asked with a smile, though his nerves were shot and he felt like he was about to faint.
Todd laughed too loudly, a nervous titter escaping his lips.
"Um... just a very small amount." Todd responded, a shuddering sigh tumbling out of his throat.
"Ho-how?"
Todd frowned, biting his nails. "Um... I just kinda pick up on it. Jorge spoke Spanish to me a lot. Italian and Spanish kinda sound similar."
Bojack nodded slowly, taking in a deep breath.
Todd realized that his speech was calming Bojack down. "When I was little, I remember his mother coming over. She only spoke Spanish. She'd kiss me a lot. And she'd take me to the park. There was this very fun slide that was very big. We could go down together. I loved that park."
Bojack sighed contentedly.
"I remember when I was a kid I Tee-peed your house with my friends on Halloween."
Bojack laughed.
Within five minutes, there was a loud knock at their door.
Todd kissed Bojack a bit frantically and ran to the door and let a couple of men in uniform come in with a wheeled stretcher.
Todd told them they were tourists from California, and tried to explain in broken Italian and some Spanish what was wrong with his husband.
They didn't let him in the ambulance, but they gave him the address of the hospital.
Todd kissed Bojack on the cheek and started crying but said, "I'll see you really soon, hon!"
Bojack nodded and tried to relax, but felt so much worse physically. He was incredibly stressed because he was leaving without Todd, too, and with strangers in a foreign country... and they had a horrible fight right before.
"You'll be fine!" Todd added.
Bojack heard Todd crying as they loaded him onto the ambulance. It made him feel like crying.
"I love you, Todd!" Bojack said as they closed the doors.
"I love you, too!" Todd yelled.
As Todd watched the ambulance leave, he went to get his phone out of his pocket but was so nervous he dropped it and the screen cracked a bit.
He felt a bit like his cracked screen.
Broken up.
He sobbed and put his face on his hands.
"Oh God, please be okay, Bojack..." Todd cried, thinking of when Bojack told him he was so great at breakfast and he made his heart so happy.
Right now, he'd do anything to make that true for Bojack.
To be truly great.
