Chapter 12
Things to Come
It wasn't long before Claudia and Noah had raced up the winding drive of the Hale property. The redhead came in cussing and raising cane. She paced in front of the television causing the two small boys settled near it to cry. Mieczyslaw's eyes widened in fear and his mouth started running a mile a minute, sobbing out apologies and promises.
Alex could see the honesty in the boy's eyes, and though he couldn't hear his thoughts he felt the emotions flowing from the kid. He meant what he said, and Alex couldn't bring himself to tell them that that might not be possible. With the way, the kid's powers were fluctuating there was no telling what was bound to happen.
He felt the vision sucking him in before he could process it happening. His perception began to waver as the future flashed before his eyes. Two kids were racing through the woods. Something was chasing them, full speed. This vision was different. In the other's he wasn't able to really feel them, only see. This one, though, was new it was as if he could feel the wind as the boys rand by him, could smell the scent of a were and of a certain hyperactive child.
The beast caught one of the kid's legs and he fell forward, thankfully landing in a pile of crisp leaves. Alex rushed to the kid's side hoping to get a glimpse of his face. Thankfully, it wasn't Stiles. The kid looked to be about sixteen, so they had quite a few years before this vision came to light. Though, this turn of events wasn't something that he had expected.
He figured that they would eventually add to the ranks of the Hale Pack. His mom was always taking in strays, most staying until they got back up on their feet before moving on. Others, like the Stilinski's, stayed, enjoying the dynamics of the pack life. He didn't expect for more rouge alpha's attempting to turn unsuspecting kids, especially without their permission. His pack was all about consent, seeing as a good portion of them were indeed female.
"Crap," Alex mumbled stumbling back into the living room. Claudia had, finally, stopped yelling and was now crouched by the children, embracing them as she started crying. "Mrs. Claudia, I hate to bother you, but there is something that we need to discuss."
She turned to look at him, wiping away the tears in her eyes, "Do I need to bring mischief."
"That would be best," he turned to Scott, "Do you mind watching a little more T. V. with Jacob and Jimmie here?"
Scott's eye lit up and he shook his head no. Alex smiled at him and signaled for them to follow him into his mother's office. The adults, plus Derek and Stiles followed him. He plopped down in the closest seat he could find, letting the vision play in his mind once again. Man, he hated having to explain them.
"What did you see?" Derek asked sitting beside him. He turned to his brother, smiling. He was grateful to have such an understanding brother. His brother was one of the strongest people he had ever known. It had taken him a while to be able to control his inner wolf, but he had managed it, thanks to Uncle Peter. All this with Paige was making him take a few steps back in his training and he hoped that he could regain some of his control.
"I don't really want to talk about it at the moment, not with Mieczyslaw here, anyway," Alex mumbled, catching his mom's eye.
"Claudia, it would seem that young Stiles here is starting to develop some pretty amazing powers of his own," Talia said with a grin on her face.
Claudia's head jerked to the kid she had perched on her hip. Her thought process went the same way Alex's had earlier and she was just as confused as the thirteen-year-old had been. It left her and her husband speechless.
"I thought the same thing when he told me," Alex said picking up on their thoughts.
If Stiles was going to have any powers they should have manifested at birth just like the rest of Claudia's coven had. Not when he was almost seven years into life.
"I don't understand," Noah said glancing at his child.
"Mieczyslaw said that he basically teleported here with Scott," Alex responded. "It's the most logical answer. You guys live on the other side of town, and it would be nearly impossible for two six-year-olds to make their way down this-"
Alex cut himself off and turned his head to the door. Before anyone could ask what was wrong he grabbed Stiles out of Claudia's arms and took off into the living room. There in the center of a group of his family was Scott. He didn't realize that the people in the office had followed them.
"What's happening?" Jimmie shouted backing away from the small boy gasping for breath and digging around in his pockets.
"He's having an asthma attack!" Alex shouted as he set down Stiles and held out his hand. "I know you carry an extra inhaler Mieczyslaw. Hand it over."
Stiles handed Alex the inhaled he had in his pocket and Alex rushed to Scott placing the thing in his hand. They all watched as Scott placed the inhaler in his mouth and Inhaled the mist that was exhausted. Alex sighed, thanking the Lord for the first time, for his mind-reading.
"How-"
"I heard the twins freaking out," Alex cut him off shooting everyone a glance. "Sorry, if I scared anyone."
"No, it's a good thing that you got here," Claudia said picking Scott up off the floor. "Noah, why don't you go ahead and take the boys home. I'll stay here and have Olivia drive me home."
"I can do that, but the three of us are going to have our own conversation at home. Plus, I think it may help if Stiles joined in on Alex's training sessions." Noah said kissing his wife and taking Scott from her. "Come on Mischief, let's get you boys home." He took the boys hand and lead them out the door and to the cruiser that sat in the drive.
Alex watched them go, his vision playing as he recognized the place that it was supposed to take place. He waved back to Mieczyslaw as the kid grinned in his direction. Hopefully, in the future, that impish grin the child had wouldn't change. He doesn't know how he'd feel if it did.
