WARNING: If you are likely confused about events that have happened in this fanfiction that didn't happen in canon, that's likely because this isn't following canon, but another story I made called 'Oh Rhonda!'. So, be wary of this fact when you read the story! If you haven't read the first 'Oh Rhonda!', please do so if possible so that you can understand what's going on. Otherwise, continue to enjoy the story!
Well, after taking a short hiatus, I think it's safe to say that I'm back, refreshed and better than ever! And let me tell you, after being away from the story for so long, I felt like I NEEDED to go back into it with a fresh start in mind. Don't worry, I'm not going to change much, I'm still going to stick with the plot ideas I have. But, I digress. Let's get started on the first part of a brand new episode! Anyway, enjoy!
The holidays came by pretty quickly as most families, even ones that are quite as unique as Rhonda and Olga (the adopted daughter to adopted mother, of sorts), and first times like Arnold and his parents (considering the fact that it was the first Christmas he had ever spent with his mother and father together). Yeah, it seems that even friends and family that knew those three were taking it easy as well as the school year had started up once again, with Arnold and the others getting off the bus and looking straight at the bus.
"Ah, finally, the school holidays are over." Phoebe said with a grin. "The times of spending time away from school were torture!"
"What are you even talking about?" Lila asked as the four girls walked inside the school together. "It hasn't even been two weeks."
Phoebe then held a pose as if trying to be overdramatic. "Oh the shame of it all. My friends, not considering the importance of school. I'm ashamed to show my face in public."
She then opened her backpack and pulled out a paper bag to put over her head, much to Rhonda, Nadine and Lila's annoyance.
"Now cut that out." Rhonda said in her annoyed state as she removed the paper bag from Phoebe's head, much to the petite girl's smirk. "You know perfectly well we needed this vacation. If anything, our minds were too... overworked."
"Yeah, considering all the assignments we had piled up, it's good to finally take that well-deserved break." Nadine said. "Speaking of which, what did you guys do on your winter break?"
"Oh, you know me and my 60s-esque parents." Nadine said with a grin. "Going out to the beatnik cafes, hanging out in the warm greenhouses protected from the harsh cold weather... it's a shame there's no bugs to catch in the winter... barely any, in fact. Well, at least basketball tryouts are opened up, so maybe I'll try to participate."
Rhonda couldn't help but give a laugh. "You and your hobbies. Well, as you know, my jolly holiday with Arnold was a blast and a sight to behold!"
The girls couldn't help but roll their eyes, but smile all the same as Phoebe said, "So, how did you and Arnold enjoy your winter holiday, if I may inquire?"
"Oh, nothing that compares to the likes of your little breaks." Rhonda grinned as the four friends stopped by their locker. "First, Olga, Arnold, his parents and grandparents and I went out to a wonderful little ice show from out of town, followed closely by eating at the finest restaurant in town. Olga insisted."
Nadine, Phoebe and Lila noted from the former rich girl's smile that it sounded more like Rhonda suggested the idea, but didn't judge as Rhonda continued, "And then we spent the day out in the town, drinking hot cocoa the whole way through and seeing the lights being lit up at night, sort of like a traditional holiday ritual. Hard to believe, but true."
"Heh, I wish I could have been there." Nadine giggled a bit.
"And after all that, all the gifts we could get, all the wonders of the world, we finally reached the year of 2004, opening us up on a bright note!" Rhonda laughed. "I'm telling you, that holiday was exactly what I needed to get my mind off other things."
"I think we ALL needed that holiday."
The four gave a groan as Rhonda gave a rather annoyed, "Oh God, it's Curly."
"Hey, don't say it like that." Curly said as he went between the four girls. "I've already said I'm not chasing you down, Rhonda. What more do you possibly want?"
Rhonda gave Curly a glare, making the boy shrink down a bit. "Right. Well, look, can't I hang out with you girls once in a while? Besides, I can't exactly meet up with my other friends to talk with them."
"You know, I always wondered, Curly. Who exactly ARE those other friends of yours?" Phoebe asked as she raised an inquisitive eyebrow. "I don't think I've seen them hanging around P.S. 118."
"That's mainly because they're in other wor- schools." Curly corrected himself. "We only meet up every once in a while... occasionally when we really need to hang out and do something."
"Hmm..." Phoebe put a hand on her chin, raising an eyebrow at the crazy kid, but chose not to question him further.
"Well, what did you do on your break, Curly?" Rhonda asked as she held her head. "Because I have a feeling you're not going to leave until you tell us."
"Oh, you know, I've been getting myself into the gaming business recently." Curly gave a grin, causing the four girls to turn to the boy in surprise. "Shocking, yes, but you're looking at a brand new gamer right here! I'm currently doing video games on my own time, talking to a camera and posting these videos on my Tw- MySpace account."
Curly couldn't help but look to the side as Phoebe raised an eyebrow. "I didn't think MySpace had video hosting services."
"You'd be surprised." Curly shrugged. "Still, I do have a channel to maintain, so needless to say, I've been quite busy. Well, if you guys need me, I have plans for big stuff!"
At that moment, Curly snapped his heels as underneath his shoes, wheels appeared as the young boy hummed to himself, skating alongside the school. The four girls could only blink as they shook their heads.
"Something's wrong with that kid, I swear." Phoebe muttered to herself.
As Rhonda finally got her stuff ready and they started to head off, they couldn't help but notice Olga sitting near the fourth grade classroom, seemingly looking over a list of documents. The four girls couldn't help but give a smile as they waved over to Olga.
Olga looked up and waved back happily as the four girls approached, Rhonda asking, "What you got there, Olga?"
"Oh, just a new manuscript." Olga said as she was humming over, looking it over. "I've been doing a lot of writing in my past time and I think I got something in the works."
"Are you planning to be a writer?" Nadine asked as Olga gave the manuscript over to Rhonda as the girl looked over the story.
"Well, I'm still starting out a bit, trying to get my inspiration, but I feel like I'm getting close." Olga smiled. "You could say I was inspired by our little jungle adventure all those months ago."
Rhonda couldn't help but smile as she looked over the manuscript. "Hmmm... this story seems legit. 'Jungle Surfers'?"
"Like I said, it's sort of a... 'fictional' take on our adventures in the jungle. Let's just say Arnold and his parents were sort of used for... inspiration." Olga said with a smile, before pausing. "The problem is, I'm not really all that confident in my writing skills."
Rhonda looked over the manuscript as the others gathered around as they looked it over as Phoebe smiled, "What are you talking about, Olga? From what we're reading, this story seems amazing!"
"Really?" Olga asked.
"You could say it's the next 'Hank the Cowdog' of your time!" Nadine pointed out. "Heck, some of the lines and dialogue are pretty funny too. That harmony and hominy joke on how their similar words and the two conversations going on at the same time... that looks funny."
Olga blushed a bit as she held her hand behind her head. "Th-thanks... but I'm not entirely confident in my skills. I feel like I need a little help... maybe in writing, maybe... something else entirely."
"Why would you need help in writing?" Rhonda asked in curiosity.
"Let's just say that I needed something to do on the side, so I went online and met up with these people writing stories of their own." Olga explained.
The four girls looked at Olga rather flabbergasted as Olga held her hands up. "No, no, don't worry. I haven't revealed my true name or nature. It would just be dumb. You never know what type of predators there are out in the world wide web. No, I joined this writing site for testing my creativity. Some people enjoyed it and I've hung out with them since. We never say our true names or anything, but we get along okay."
The four girls looked at each other as they turned to Olga. "What type of writing do you do?"
"Oh, not much, just something to keep the creative juices flowing... tell you what, how about after school, I show you some of my work?" Olga asked with a smile.
The four girls looked at each other, before giving a nod as Olga gave a smile. "Great. We'll meet up after school then and I'll show you my work."
As Rhonda handed the manuscript back to Olga and said their goodbyes, the bell started to ring as another school day was about to commence.
And this is the first part of the episode done! How did you guys like it? Believe it or not, this episode is going to be based off a real life experience I had online, and it involves the terms of writing a co-written story together... and showing the problems with that. I'm not going to say anything more, but you'll see as the episode goes on! Either way, it's good to be back and settled in this environment! Expect more of this story, and maybe some Arnda goodness along the way this year! Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, folks!
