As always this time of year, I go back through my computer & do a bit of a clean-up. This was found lurking & seeing as I am having a little bit of a 'meh' break with my current story I like to go back and fiddle around with a few other things to clear some cobwebs...so here's a trip back to teenage Angus. Just for fun. So if you were a fan of that series, this is for you.

If Polly had gone through her surly teenage stage, well then Gus was going to do it too. They had barely recovered from that whirlwind and now they seemed to be smack bang in round two. Angus Patrick Ruzek was a grumpy surly teen, it came out of nowhere and Adam and Kim were not enjoying the ride so far.

Stupidly Adam thought that dealing with male hormones would be a walk in the park compared to the female version but he was wrong, way wrong. He was foul smelling, surly, snarky and would eat them out of house and home given half the chance and the thought of spending time with his parents was just not cool. For Adam, he was a little shocked because he did actually think he was a cool Dad and Kim hated the constant eye rolling he had suddenly developed when she tried to talk to him. He tried to back chat her once, and once only. Adam was having none of that shit.

Despite all his bravado he still got a little bit stressed about his Dad working undercover, and when it was both of them it was way worse. It was something he never really got used too although he would never admit it to anyone. Adam and Kim knew though, they knew their son pretty well, well the non-hormonal pre-teenage version of him anyway. It was usually just Adam undercover and he would worry until Adam always called him as soon as he was done to tell him that he was okay.

When both Adam and Kim had a job to do he whinged about it a little when he found out that Polly and Sam were staying home with him and tried to get his Dad to let him go out to a party. "Uh, remember that time I had to come and pick you up from hospital because you had alcohol poisoning?" Adam didn't even take his eyes off the game on TV as he dismissed Gus's whine.

"Dad, I learnt my lesson. Jesus, how many times do I have to say sorry?"

"One more time is always going to be my answer." He threw his hands in the air at another strike out with two on; at least Gus would still watch games with him. "Doesn't change the fact that you are staying home with Polly."

"What if I promise to be home by midnight?"

"No. I don't think so. Polly is in charge; can you please just make this easy for me? I don't want to be worrying about you while we are working, this is serious Gus we can't be distracted. Can you please just give me that?"

"Okay." He was annoyed but getting back on his Dad's good side was probably wise. It hadn't been easy but Polly had told him to lay low for a while and he would come around eventually but it was taking way longer than he hoped and he was getting seriously annoyed.

"Tell you what, you can have a couple of friends over and by a couple I mean no more than three and if Polly or Sam tells you that they need to go, they need to go. Okay?"

At least he wouldn't be sitting at home alone with his sister the whole time so it was a compromise. He really wanted to go to the party for two reasons; one he didn't want to sit around and worry about his parents and the party would be a distraction and two, there was someone he really wanted to see. He did contemplate just going, Polly couldn't stop him and his parents wouldn't know until he was home and they wouldn't have to tell them anything. Getting Polly to agree though was probably not worth the effort because she could be such a smug bitch sometimes.

They hadn't come down hard on Gus, not by a long shot and he had been allowed out several times although Adam always picked him up. He had definitely got the shock of his life with the drinking episode and had not touched another drop. However he was still only fourteen, almost fifteen and if Kim and Adam were working late and on a tough case they didn't want to worry about what he was up to, they needed to focus on their job not what Gus was doing.

Sam was surprised when Gus followed him into the kitchen with the empty pizza boxes. It had been a weird afternoon. Gus had invited some friends over, and by friends it meant two girls and his mate Jack. The two girls, Polly and Sam soon realised were definitely interested in Gus and Jack was just hanging onto his coat tails. Gus however seemed completely non-plussed by them. He jumped up and sat on the bench, which he knew would drive his mom nuts, she hated it but his Dad did it and Gus did as well out of habit.

"What's up Gus?" Sam nodded his head and leant casually against the sink bench. Polly had not been impressed with the two flirty girls and a desperately keen Jack. Tasha and Melody were a little too much and a little too excited to be here. Polly did laugh when they decided to try and be a little flirty with Sam in their awkward 14-year-old way and he was more creeped out than flattered.

She had told Gus they had to go when she found Jack outside with both girls all over him like a rash, one had her hand down his pants while he was snogging the other one. Polly lost her shit and they scuttled from the house. Gus didn't seem to care though, he told his sister they were nuts and he didn't like either of them. "Then why did you invite them over?"

"I didn't. Jack did, I asked him to come over and when he got here he told me he'd invited them. What could I do?"

"Ah, tell them to leave. Jesus Gus, they were literally two steps away from screwing him on the back deck."

"That's nasty."

"Yes, yes it is."

Gus just shrugged; he wasn't too fussed either way. Both those girls were a little too in your face for him. He just didn't like the desperation of some girls who were happy to do whatever it took to get someone to like them. It just didn't seem right to him so when they left he just flopped down on the couch and was happy to watch some sport in the peace and quiet.

"How'd you get Polly to talk to you? What'd you talk about?" He asked Sam nervously.

"Generally? Or in the beginning?

"In the beginning. Like how'd you know you liked her and she liked you and stuff?" He shrugged trying to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal. All this girl stuff was confusing and he was too embarrassed to talk to his Dad about it, Adam had tried to talk to him about some of the stuff they talked about on the day he'd hurt his knee but once he was no longer high on drugs he really didn't want to have that conversation with his Dad. His Mom would be even worse.

"Well she was cute." Gus screwed up his nose and Sam laughed. "I know…" he held up his hand. "…she's your sister and you don't think of her as cute, but trust me she is."

"You obviously didn't tell her that."

"No, we talked about anything really." He tried to remember but it was honestly not that ground breaking. "I don't remember exactly. I first met her at a party, I asked her about school I think. It wasn't particularly spectacular or memorable."

That was the god honest truth; Polly shut him down quick smart. When he approached her she was with a few friends and he was as nervous as all shit. It wasn't exactly a dare but Isaac did push him into it a little. Everyone had heard about Polly Ruzek, she was definitely cute and attracted attention so the fact that Sam was the fourth person to try and hit on her since she'd first arrived at the party didn't bode well for him. It wasn't until later in the night when he was talking with Isaac and Polly came over with Chloe did she actually acknowledge him. He wouldn't say she was cold, but she definitely wasn't overly enthusiastic either. It took a good few weeks before she even said hello to him without Sam having to approach her first.

"You ever get rejected?"

Sam laughed and he could see all his desperately sad failures flash before his eyes. "All the time man, all the time. Even Polly rejected me in the beginning, a few times. Sure she eventually talked to me but the first time I asked her if I could call her she said no."

"Really?"

"Yep, I was crushed." He held his hand dramatically over his heart.

"What you do?"

"Just kept begging."

"You didn't try and make her jealous?"

"No. She didn't seem interested so when I walked away to talk to other people she didn't not even bat an eyelid so trying to make her jealous was never going to work." He told Gus about how unattractive he thought jealousy was. "It's pretty off putting to be honest." Sam didn't want to talk about Abbey specifically because, even though they had no idea at the time there was a much bigger reason behind Abbey's behaviour but her attempts to make him jealous just made him not like her all that much. Most of the time jealousy was just plain ugly. It was nice to see the occasional hint that Polly was jealous if a girl at a party was trying to chat him up but it was pretty harmless. It wasn't the full on doing something stupid type jealousy, she would just come and make it clear that Sam wasn't available and he was always more than happy to have her appear and save him. He didn't like boys paying her too much close attention either he must admit but it was never a problem between them and they usually laughed about it afterwards.

"This chick keeps messaging me, sending me photos and offering to do things." Gus was rubbing his hands up and down his thighs nervously. He'd wanted to talk to his Dad about it but knew that it would freak him out especially since the drinking thing. His buddies weren't really helpful, they told him to live a little so he decided Sam might be a good option. He got on pretty well with Sam.

"Have you asked her to stop?"

"Not really." He seemed a little embarrassed.

"Why not?"

"Because I kinda like it, not really her but I do wonder about stuff and what's it like."

Sam shook his head. "Gus, man. It's so not worth it."

"What? You are having sex with Polly." He still found it a little cringe worthy. "and other stuff." That intrigued him the most to be honest.

"Yes, I am but we'd been going out for a while before we even talked about it. There is no need to rush. You know I really love your sister. This chick you don't really like, don't go there man especially if you are doing it just to make the girl you really want like jealous." Sam leant forward and tapped him on the leg. "If you want this one girl, put in the hard yards Buddy. Don't take the easy way out."

Gus just nodded and jumped down from the table. "Can you not tell Polly?"

"Bro Code Buddy." He gave Gus a fist bump. "I've got you."

"Shelby?" Gus was surprised when his phone rang. He had no idea why Olive's friend would be calling him; they weren't exactly friends. He had no idea she even had his number.

"Gus." The voice on the other end sounded nervous. "Umm...there's been some trouble. Olive asked me to call you. I think she needs some help."

"What? Help with what? Is she okay?" They were friends. Gus really liked Olive and for a long time she hadn't even given him the time of day but after that stupid challenge when Gus got drunk she had started to talk to him more and Gus was really smitten.

At school on the Monday she sought him out to make sure he was okay. "I'm sorry Zac made you do that. I was worried about you."

"You didn't seem to care on Saturday." He didn't remember a lot about what went on but Jack had taken great delight in filling him in first thing that morning.

"I did. I begged him to leave you alone. I don't think you are a goody two shoes."

Slowly they started talking to each other more and once she had split up with Zac she started sending him messages and would come to his games occasionally. Her ex-boyfriend wasn't impressed though and he tried to take it out on Gus but soon realised that messing with Gus Ruzek probably wasn't the wisest move, his Dad's reputation wasn't just enough to scare boys away from Polly, it also served Gus well.

"Zac went nuts. He smashed her phone and then she fell down the stairs. She's not good. She's really upset."

"Is she hurt? Call an ambulance."

"No, she just wants to leave. We are at a party, at Brady's. Her parents are not around tonight." This was the party that Gus had wanted to attend but his Dad said no, although he wasn't really friends with Brady, he just wanted to go because Olive was going to be there and if he wanted to impress her, staying away from a party because your Dad said so wasn't going to help him his cause. The job his parents were on wasn't expected to take all night but they had no idea what time they would be home and they weren't contactable so he didn't know what he could do about it. He knew his Dad would help if he was here.

Polly and Sam were outside with Isaac and Chloe. Gus's only option was to ask Sam if he would take him. He thought he could just jump in an Uber but Polly would lose her shit if he just disappeared so he had to tell her what was going on.

"What's up Gus?" Polly could tell something was up by the way he just appeared with his phone in his hand and rocking from foot to foot.

"Shelby just called. Olive's in trouble, I need to go get her."

"Hold up. Who's in trouble?"

"Olive."

"Really Gus?" Polly was not exactly jumping for joy. As far as she was concerned this girl was going to cause Gus all sorts of grief, hell she already had. She'd hate to think how pissed her Dad was going to be knowing that Gus was mixed up with her. He was trying to trust Gus again and give him a chance to redeem himself but Olive may have been a bridge too far. Polly had heard the rumours at school about the little love triangle that was going on with her brother and this girl and her boyfriend.

"Yes, fuck Polly, I need to go get her. Can you take me Sam?"

He agreed to go and Isaac came with him, Gus literally dragged him out to his car and punched the address into the GPS. "What's going on Gus?" Sam watched him from the corner of his eye as they drove. He knew that this was the chick he'd talked to him about earlier as well as knowing that Gus's drinking had been caused by some guy teasing him about the girl he liked and that, they'd soon learnt was Olive.

"Olive's friend called me and said she's in trouble and asked for me to come get her. Her ex went nuts, smashed her phone."

"Her ex-boyfriend?"

"Yep."

"What are you doing Gus?"

"Helping a friend." He wasn't giving Sam much to work with. It wasn't a question of not wanting to help Gus, he would without hesitation, he really liked Polly's brother but he at least wanted a heads up.

"Is this the girl you were asking about earlier? You didn't tell me she was with someone else."

"What does it matter? She needs help and she's not with him anymore, they split up. He's just being a dick."

"Sounds like it, so you want to date her?"

"We are just friends."

"Sure, that's why you were just in the kitchen asking how to get her to like you, so you think this is going to do it? Just tell me Gus, what's waiting for us?" Sam didn't want to walk into an all out brawl over some girl. "I'll help you Gus, anytime but I don't want you to get hurt or caught up in something. Your Dad will kill me."

"Don't worry about Dad. I just need to help Olive."

"Mate, I do worry about your Dad, how pissed is he going to be if he finds out I drove you to a party to rescue a girl and you get your head kicked in?"

"Then just drop me off outside and I'll sort myself out. We'll catch a Uber home."

"I am not leaving you here."

Zac rolled his eyes when Gus arrived with Sam and Isaac. "How'd I know she'd call you?"

He came and stood in front of them to block his path to wherever he was going. He wasn't that much bigger than Gus but he obviously was no shrinking violet and he'd been drinking and knew that the only reason he was here was for Olive. "Daddy let you out did he?"

Gus ignored him. One thing Gus did have going for him was he was his father's son and he didn't back down from a fight. Adam had certainly taught Gus well, he'd taught both his kids to stand up for what they thought was right. Whether it was going to always serve Gus well was yet to be seen but he was not taking a backwards step right now.

"You bring your body guards? Daddy sent them along to make sure you don't mess up that pretty little face? Or they here to make sure you don't break the law? Can I get you a drink?" Zac tried to goad Gus. "Why don't you get your own girlfriend? Huh? 'cos you are weak as shit." He seriously pissed Sam off; the guy was a fucking tool. He could see why Gus did what he did, that kind of pressure was hard to ignore. Sam had been in that situation when he was younger; he'd been pushed around a bit until he learnt the hard way to stand up for himself. He'd got into a fight and something snapped in him that day and he rarely took a backwards step since.

"Considering she dumped your sorry ass what'd you care? Get out of my fucking way." No way was Gus taking a step back; he was a Ruzek through and through. Fortunately Sam and Isaac where both way bigger than this guy and Sam stepped in between them before it got out of control. The last thing they needed was for Gus to get into a fight and they would then have to explain that to Kim and Adam when they got home.

Sam told Gus to go and find Olive and see if she was okay and take her out to the car.

"I'm not scared of you." Zac took a step closer to Sam and pushed his face up into his.

Sam put his hand on the idiot's chest and took a step forward so he backed off a little. "Fuck off Dickhead."

"Gus is a pussy."

"Nah man, you are a pussy. Tough guy." Sam shoved him hard. "You wanna hit someone, hit me." Zac stared hard before taking a step back and holding up his hands in defeat. He was drunk but not so drunk that he didn't realise that he didn't stand a chance against these two. Neither of the boys was exactly small, they also had three years at least on him.

Sam and Isaac stood and waited for Gus to find Olive and bring her down, they took her out the back door and away from Zac and his mob of merry men. Isaac made sure they got her out of the car with little drama while Sam talked to Brady who's party it was making sure he didn't want them to get rid of this guy before he caused more trouble but he insisted it was fine. He knew Zac well enough to know he doubted he would remember anything in the morning. Sam really didn't give a shit what happened once they left as long as it didn't come back to bite Gus.

"Sorry Gus." Olive hadn't really said anything until they were in the car. He'd found her upstairs in one of the bedroom with a few of her friends, she was crying and pushed everyone away when Gus came in. He crouched down in front of her and talked to her quietly, he definitely had that gentle nature and sweet touch of both his parents.

"Did he hurt you?"

"No, he grabbed my phone and smashed it. I tried to get away and fell down the stairs." Gus did not believe a word of it but Olive insisted that it was her clumsiness that caused her to fall.

"I can take you home."

He sensed a little bit of panic in her voice. "No, can we go to your place? My Mom is working night shift, my Dad is away and I was supposed to stay with Shelby. He knows that. I don't want to go back there."

Sam wasn't so sure, this seemed to be becoming bigger than Ben Hur and Gus was getting dragged further and further into this mess. He looked at them both in the rear vision mirror, this Olive girl was pretty and he could see why Gus had a crush on her even though she had make-up streaked down her face and puffy eyes from crying. Gus was sitting almost like a statue beside her and looked too scared to even go anywhere need her. Sam looked at Isaac from the corner on his eye and grinned a little. Gus needed some help; he wasn't going to win her over like this.

Polly took her upstairs when they got home and gave her some clothes to change into and have a shower. She only had a short skirt and tight top on so Polly fixed her up with a pair of leggings and a one of her sweaters. "Are you okay?" She handed her some towels.

"I am, thank you." Olive headed towards the bathroom before turning back to Polly. She'd never met Gus's sister but certainly knew about her from school; while she was popular she also kept a pretty low profile. The only time people really talked about her was when she got into that fight over her friend. Gus had talked to her about all that a little bit but she had to admit not much got out about his family. She knew his parents were cops and that was about it. "I didn't mean to get Gus in trouble."

"Gus is not in trouble."

"I just didn't know who else to call." She clutched the towels to her chest. "I really like Gus."

"Gus is a good kid. He wants to help so I hope you aren't using him or leading him on."

"I'm not."

"Then what are you doing? As far as I know you have a boyfriend." Polly wasn't holding back. Gus had been through shit lately. He'd liked her for a long time and eventually caved and drank himself into oblivion to try and prove to her that he was 'fun' and now suddenly she's calling him to pick her up from a party to get away from her boyfriend. The last thing Polly needed to deal with was an angry boyfriend turning up or worse still a devastated Gus when she went back to him. She also didn't want to explain this to her parents. They would lose their shit and they had put them through enough lately, particularly Polly.

"I've broke up with him, I swear, weeks ago but he just won't listen and keeps hassling me. I don't know how to get him to stop. He scares me."

"Great."

"I don't want Gus to get caught in the middle, I really don't."

"Then don't put him in the middle."

Olive burst into tears. "I don't want to see him again. How do I get him to stop and leave me alone?"

"I don't know Olive. Hey…" Polly squeezed her hand. "How about you take a shower and then come down. We'll sort it out from there." She winced a little as she tried to take her top off. The tumble down the stairs had taken its toll and her whole body was starting to ache a little. Polly could see some bruises starting to form on her shoulder. "I'll get you some Advil, that might help with the pain."

Sam was sitting opposite Gus who was nervously jiggling his knees. "What's going on Gus?"

"I don't know."

"Are you sure you want to get involved?"

"What do you want me to do? Walk away? You wouldn't walk away from Polly when she was treating everyone like shit, including you."

"It's not the same Gus."

"Why not? I just want to help her, like you wanted to help Polly even though you were just friends." Sam was surprised by how much Gus obviously knew about what was going on back then. He seemed pretty removed from it all at the time. "I really like Olive."

"I know you do, Bud but maybe she doesn't like you like that."

"How would you know? What does that matter anyway? She needs help; she's a friend. I am helping a friend, that's what my folks would want me to do." He was starting to get shitty with Sam; he could hear it in his voice. "Leave no one behind, serve and protect and all that shit."

"Okay." They both looked up with Polly came downstairs.

"Where's Olive?"

"Just having a shower." Polly perched on the edge of the couch. "You okay?"

"Sure, I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"

"Ah Gus, drop the fucking attitude. I'm trying to help you here. We've gone and picked up Olive for you so how about you tell me what exactly is going on and what we are going to do now?" This is not what Polly and Sam wanted to be doing tonight. They'd planned for Isaac and Chloe to come over and just hang out, maybe watch a movie. They did not anticipate picking up Gus's little pet project and babysitting the pair of them.

"She needs helps. Zac is being a dick, she dumped him and he won't leave her alone. He probably pushed her down the stairs. I am just trying to help."

"You like her?"

"What the fuck do you think?"

"You want to try that again?"

"Pol, can you please just help Olive."

"Okay. What's the plan?"

"I don't know. She can't go home, her folks aren't home so she can stay here."

"Here?" This was a surprise to Polly, she wasn't ready for this or neither could she imagine her parents coming home at god knows what hour and finding some strange girl sleeping with Gus. They'd lock Gus up for life and Polly would be sent to the ass end of the world to live as a Nun. "Gus, come on. How's this going to work? She's not staying with you."

"Did I say that?"

"Okay. I just wanted to make that clear."

"She can stay in the spare room. I'll ring Mom."

"You can't ring Mom or Dad, you know that."

"What do you want me to do? Tell her to go home alone, send her back to the party so her fuckwit of an ex can hurt her again?"

"Woah, Gus. Slow down, I am not going to make her leave."

"Can you help me please Polly?"

All three of them looked up as Olive came downstairs unsure of how much she had heard. "Sorry." She muttered, standing nervously at the bottom of the stairs. Her face was free of make-up but you could still tell she'd been crying.

Gus jumped up from his seat and bought her over to sit down. "Are you okay?" he asked her so earnestly.

"I am. Thank you for coming to get me." She looked at Sam a little shyly. She hadn't really talked to him on the trip home and had never met him before. He was cute but was looking a little pissed off so she looked away quickly.

"Can we call your parents?" Polly just really wanted this sorted.

"Mom is working night shift. She's a Doctor and Dad's a pilot, he's overseas. I was staying at Shelby's tonight because nobody would be home. I don't want to go home alone."

"You can stay here." Gus jumped in.

"Thanks, I really don't want to cause any trouble. Your parents won't mind?"

"Nah, they'll be fine."

Polly wasn't quite sure they were going to be fine. Of course they would help out anyone in need but they would worry about how far Gus was getting dragged into this. It had already caused issues with him, his drinking and while it was probably everything going on at home with Polly and Abbey's suicide that pushed him over the edge the catalyst had obviously been his like for this girl and his desire to impress her.

This time Sam followed Gus into the kitchen. They'd been watching a movie and while Polly was curled up between Sam's legs and resting against his chest, Gus and Olive sat like statues at the other end of the couch. He really was useless and very un-Ruzek like. Their parents were always cuddled up to each other, they always held hands when they were out and Polly was the same with Sam. Gus was the complete opposite and rarely looked for any type of affection even though their parents always hugged them. "Bud, you know you can look a little less terrified in there."

"I'm not terrified. She's just a friend."

"Pfft, sure whatever. That's all she'll ever be if you don't show her that you like her."

"I am not going to grope her like you do to Polly."

"Ha, trust me." Sam laughed. "I didn't get to grope her for a long time but I did show her that I was interested."

"How?"

"Touch her arm, talk to her, lean into her a little when you talk. It's not about groping."

Gus was asleep on the couch when Adam and Kim came home. They were surprised to see him there and thought that perhaps it was because he was waiting up to make sure they made it home okay. Even the pair of girl's shoes on the floor and the bag on the table didn't raise a flag and they assumed that one of Polly's friends had stayed.

"Gus." Kim sat on the edge of the couch, brushing his hair back from his eyes and kissed his forehead lightly. "Wake up Sweetie."

"Mom?" He opened his eyes sleepily.

"Hey, we are home. We are okay." Adam had disappeared straight into the kitchen looking for something to eat. He was starving and Kim had stopped him grabbing some fries and a burger on the way home. She just wanted to get home, shower and get into bed. It was a little after 4am and it had been a long night. Things had got a little intense for a while and Adam had got a little roughed up but they got the job done in the end.

"Dad too?"

"Yep, Dad's here too." Kim pulled back the blanket a little. "Go on up to bed. I'll get Dad to come and see you." If Gus happened to be in bed when Adam got home late he would always go in and see him, if he was asleep he would leave his badge beside his bed so that when he woke up and saw it he knew that his Dad was home safe.

"Olive's here. I'll stay here."

"What Sweetie? Who's here?"

"Olive, she called me. She was in trouble and her parents are not home. I told her it was okay?"

"Okay." As far as Kim was concerned this was not okay. What the hell had gone on here? She'd checked her phone the moment they got back to the station and there were no messages from either of the kids. That was the rule; if something happened or they went out they needed to let them know. "Is she okay?"

"She was scared. Polly said she could stay in the spare room."

"Scared of what?"

"Zac." Fantastic. Kim knew enough of what was going on with this girl and it didn't impress her. Zac was the guy the goaded Gus into drinking and she also knew that Gus had been spending more time with her but beyond that as far as she knew Olive was going out with Zac and Gus was a desperate little puppy following her around. And that pissed her off.

He was struggling to stay awake. "Go up to bed Gus. Olive is fine down here. We will talk in the morning." She helped him up off the couch despite his reluctance and watched him trudge upstairs before going in search of Adam.

She found him leaning on the bench eating some toast. Touching him lightly on the cheek just below the obvious swelling to his right eye. "Do you need some ice?"

"Nope. I need to go to bed." He wiped the toast crumbs off his hands over the sink. "Gus okay?"

"No, Gus is not fucking okay."

"Hold Up!"

"He has a girl here."

"What the fuck?"

"Exactly. Olive is apparently asleep in our spare room. She called him and said she was in some kind of trouble and being the good little lovesick puppy he is she is now staying here." Kim was obviously tired and grumpy. If Adam didn't cope well with Polly's foray into dating, Kim was having none of her baby boy being lead by the nose by some little vixen. He knew this because Kim had told him numerous times her feelings on this girl.

"Heads Up would have been nice."

"Precisely. I don't like this Adam."

"Don't stress. Let's go to bed and worry about it in the morning." he looked at his watch. "Which is approximately three hours away if we are lucky."

"Why are you not more freaked out? If it was Polly you'd be having a conniption."

"Polly? Who is currently in bed with her boyfriend upstairs? That Polly? I think I've freaked out enough over those two." he grabbed Kim's hand and flicked off the kitchen light as he led her upstairs. "I am trying not to freak out because I am shattered, I am aching, my head his throbbing, I'm grotty and desperate for a shower and I need crawl into bed for a few hours. What are we supposed to do about it at 430am?"

"He's fourteen Adam."

"I don't think anything is going on. Let's just wait and see huh?"

"Fine." She was anything but fine however Adam was right, nothing they could do at 430am. Kim did remind him that he needed to go in and let Gus know he was home so he slipped quietly into his room but he was dead to the world so he popped his badge beside his bed and crept back out.
