Start of A/N

Hey everyone, I'm finally back with another update! Sorry to everyone who's been waiting for the next update for awhile, I'll (hopefully) not take that long of a break again!

First of all, thank you all so much for the reviews! The story got something like, 20 reviews after the last chapter alone, and so many of you left me with positive feedback! Thank you to everyone who gave their opinion on the last chapter, and thank you to everyone who wished me luck in my first term of university, it means a lot to me! To everyone who asked, it went alright! First term is actually over now lol, it was pretty packed for me, but now I have more free time and I'll try to work on this story more! More on the next update in the footer.

Idk what else to say, so enjoy!

This chapter is the first part of Season 1, Episode 9: Field Trip.

Disclaimer: I do not own Ultimate Spider-Man. If I did, I would probably not be on a fanfiction site lol.

Chapter 16: Field Trip (Part 1)

It was now Friday, a few days after the return of Venom. Ava got out of bed, and did her morning routine. She brushed her teeth, took a shower, did her hair, and got dressed for the day. She was about to grab her backpack and leave for school, but then she remembered the field trip.

"That's right, we have a field trip today!" Ava said to herself, choosing to leave her backpack behind.

Ava walked out of her room and into the team lounge, seeing, as usual, no one was up yet, which was odd because the boys were excited for the field trip last night. Well, all of them but Peter, who had groaned when it was announced in class on Wednesday for some reason.

Speaking of Peter, he had kept true to his word, and for the past week, had returned to being a solo act, keeping his time with the team at an absolute minimum. The only times Ava had even spoken with Peter after the Venom situation was during training, or a team SHIELD mission. However, Ava did have to give him some credit, as the day after their argument, Peter had apologized for overreacting and snapping at her, saying he wasn't feeling like himself the night before. Ava thought that meant they could be friends again, but he pretty much avoided the whole team at school as well. She desperately wanted things to be normal between them again.

Ava arrived at school, seeing a large bus parked outside. She assumed this was the bus that would take her class to the museum, which was where the field trip would be today. Ava walked inside the school to her regular homeroom class, Calculus, as everyone was supposed to meet there first for attendance. As she walked in, she saw Peter was already there, talking with Harry and MJ. Peter had his back turned to Ava, but MJ was facing her general direction, and noticed her walking in the door.

"There she is. Try to make up with her on the bus ride." MJ whispered to Peter, but Ava heard it from where she was standing.

"I really don't think-" Ava heard Peter reply.

"I don't know what happened between you and the new kids, but you're going to fix it, today." Ava heard MJ say. "It's not like you to just cut people off."

Ava sighed quietly, so that the group wouldn't hear. As much as she wanted to make up with Peter, she didn't want him to do it just because MJ was forcing him to. This was yet another example of how MJ would stick her nose into other people's business. It was getting on Ava's nerves. Peter could come to his senses eventually, he didn't need MJ to push him to do it.

"Alright class, we're heading to the bus now." The teacher called from the front. "Two people per seat on the bus, please."

Ava began following the class to the bus that was parked outside school. She noticed the rest of the team had made it to school by now and were also walking with them to the bus. Somehow, Peter had ended up walking next to her. Neither of them said a word to each other. Ava walked into the bus, and picked a seat near the front. Peter stood next to it for a few seconds before speaking up.

"Do you... mind if I sit here?" He asked awkwardly.

"Go for it." Ava said slightly coldly while gesturing to the seat.

Peter slowly sat down next to her, and after a few seconds, opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again. The bus began to move, and Ava just stared out the window, not really wanting to deal with Peter right now.

After a few minutes, Peter finally spoke up. "Look Ava, about what happened a few days ago-"

"Save it Parker." Ava interrupted him. "You already said that this team and our friendship wouldn't work. And while I don't exactly like or understand your decision or your reasoning behind it, I'm going to accept it anyways, because I'm past all this by now. We walked into your life, now let us walk out."

"I just want to make things right." Peter said. "Look, I know I can't take back what I said, and I won't try to. I was angry, and I felt like it was justified. So can we just move past what happened so that things won't be weird between us later?"

"That depends. Are you going to be a part of the team again, or can you not move past being a solo act?" Ava asked.

Peter didn't say anything for a few seconds, which was all the answer she needed.

"That's what I thought." Ava said, the world flashing green for a split second. She took a deep breath, and continued to stare out the bus window. Peter looked away from her, drowning himself in his thoughts.

The class walked into the museum, and Ava decided to join the rest of the guys. Peter stayed at the back of the group, alone. Principal Coulson started rambling on about the artifacts about the museum, but Ava wasn't paying attention.

"So I see you tried to talk to Parker?" Luke asked Ava as she approached them.

"No. He tried to talk to me, because MJ forced him." Ava corrected him. "I've got nothing to say to him until he decides to quit the solo act."

"To be fair, he did quit the solo act, until we decided not to trust him." Danny said with a hint of guilt in his voice. "This is on us."

"No it isn't." Sam cut in. "So what, he was right once? He's been wrong hundreds of times. How were we supposed to know he would be right this time about Venom?"

"That is what the concept of trust is." Danny shot back. "We should've trusted that he was right, even if we didn't believe him."

"Alright fine!" Ava snapped. "Even if we didn't trust him, we apologized after, he should have the decency to let it go. But he's still going into fights on his own again."

"Oh come on." Luke said. "Let's just call him over here, I'm sure he's gotten over it by now."

Luke waved at Peter, and gestured at him to join them. Ava saw Peter giving Luke a weak smile, before looking away at something else.

"You were saying?" Ava said, as she walked to the front of the group. Her teammates followed her.

"And now, we go on to the Norse mythology section of the museum." Coulson said. "Myths that, over time, turned out not to be myths at all."

Coulson walked over to one of the displays.

"A Nordic rune stone. We used to believe that the legends of Asgard were myth." Coulson continued. "Names like Odin, Loki, and, of course, the Mighty Thor. Written on the stone are ancient texts, believed to have the honourable deeds of the Norse gods written on them. Now, moving on to..."

Coulson and some students began walking to another display, but Danny approached the stone. His teammates followed behind.

"What? It's a rock." Sam said.

"I studied ancient texts in Kun Lun." Danny told the group. "Let me see. 'Warrior… be afraid… of the coming winter?'"

Suddenly, the display began to glow, getting brighter and brighter. When the light dissipated, there was some sort of ice monster in its place. It roared loudly, scaring everyone in the museum.

"Buddy system, now! No man gets left behind!" Then Coulson turned to the team. "You're on."

Ava quickly hid behind another exhibit, switching into her White Tiger suit.

"While you guys figure that out, I'm gonna go mano-a-gianto." Tiger heard Spider-Man say.

Tiger leaped in front of the ice monster.

"Oh yeah? Get in line!" She said, while attempting to attack the monster. The monster began to swing at her, causing her to dodge his attacks.

"Spidey, you're up!" Tiger said while running.

Spidey began to attack the monster while dodging his attacks. Tiger landed next to the rest of her teammates, who were now in costume. Nova then shot a beam of light at the monster.

"Stand down, bug boy. I can handle this." Nova said arrogantly.

"Is now really the time for him to start acting big?" Tiger thought to herself.

Nova flew at the monster, who simply swung at him with his ice bat, sending Nova flying back.

"So much for him handling it." Tiger said, slightly smirking under her mask.

Iron Fist ran up to monster, trying to find a weak spot. The monster attempted to attack him, but Power Man leaped in the way.

White Tiger facepalmed.

"Iron Fist, stop waiting for the perfect move." Tiger yelled to them, while running over to them. "Power Man, don't just jump into-"

She was interrupted by a large beam of ice being shot at her. She flew into another display case.

"Ow." Tiger said, while in pain. She heard Power Man and Iron Fist also get knocked into a wall. That meant Spidey was the only one left.

"Less talking, more teamwork!" Spidey said, while attempting to take down the monster.

"Oh yeah, you're definitely the right person to lecture us on teamwork." Tiger thought sarcastically while standing up.

Spider-Man landed next to her and Power Man.

"We're not doing so hot." Power Man said.

Suddenly, there was a flash of lightning in the sky, and something broke through the museum skylight. It was Thor.

Thor began attacking the ice monster. As the team approached him, he held his hand out.

"Stand back. The matters of Asgard are no place for oddly dressed younglings." Thor commanded.

"Wait wha-" Tiger thought.

"Did he just call us younglings?" Tiger said, slightly angry.

"And oddly dressed." Spider-Man added. "Yeah, Sam maybe."

Nova growled at Spidey, and Tiger held in a laugh.

Thor and the ice monster continued to fight, as the team watched on.

"We've got amazing spider powers, mad bad super strength, kung fu master, mystic Tiger mojo, and annoying cosmic bucket-head lad!" Spidey told Thor.

"Hey!" Nova said, annoyed.

"We can help you take down that big ugly." Spider-Man said.

"Your bravery is admirable." Thor said. "But, the "big ugly," as you call it, is a frost giant not a common thief."

Ava growled underneath her mask.

"Did he just diss us?" Power Man asked in annoyance.

"He'd have to notice us to diss us." Tiger replied, slightly angry.

Thor finally managed to knock out the frost giant, and flew over to the team.

As Spider-Man and Thor exchanged words, Tiger began to get more and more annoyed with Thor showing up at their fight.

"Son of Coul?" Spidey asked. "You mean Coulson? He called you in?"

"We didn't need you." Tiger snapped. "You didn't notice, but we're a pretty solid team."

"Whoa, whoa. I wouldn't go that far." Spider-Man interrupted. "Let the team leader handle this."

Ava was fuming underneath her mask.

"If you're team leader, then start acting like one and cut the solo act, web-head." Tiger snapped back.

"Hang on! I'll worry about leading, you worry about listening." Spider-Man retorted.

"We do listen!" Tiger exclaimed.

"Like you listened to me about Venom?" Spider-Man asked.

Tiger's vision flashed green for a couple of seconds. She blinked a couple of times and relaxed a bit.

"Let's take a deep breath. Remember… he who angers you, conquers you." Iron Fist said, trying to calm them down.

"We wouldn't have any problems if you all listened to reason." Spidey said angrily.

Before Tiger could say anything in response, Spidey's head shot up in alert.

"Spidey sense!" He said urgently, while swinging over to Thor.

"Now do you all agree to making me team leader?" Nova asked the others in annoyance.

"In your dreams." Power Man replied.

"Spider-Man has good reason to be upset." Iron Fist said. "We didn't listen-"

"It was one time!" Nova said.

"And besides, he was sick!" Tiger added. "We thought-"

Suddenly, there was a green flash of light from where Spider-Man and Thor were. Tiger's eyes widened in shock, and she ran over to investigate, the others following close behind. When she reached where Spidey was standing, she couldn't believe her eyes.

"Is this real?" Tiger thought.

"..It's just that from this angle, you're a frog." Spidey said in confusion.

"There is only one in all the nine worlds who could have accomplished such bewitchments." Thor said.

"The wizard of Oz?" Spidey asked.

"My evil half-brother, Loki." Thor said. As Thor began to talk about Loki, Tiger began to lose herself in her thoughts.

"Great. Now we're stuck in some supernatural situation while our team is probably at the lowest point we've ever been at yet. I just hope we can pull ourselves together, or else things could end really badly." Tiger thought.

"Ok… we're coming with you." Spidey said, as Tiger zoned back in.

"Where I go is no place for mortals." Thor said, dismissing the team.

"Thor, you said Loki plans to conquer the nine worlds." Tiger said, trying to convince Thor. "Earth is one of those worlds, right?"

"Oh, not to mention there's that eency-weency detail that you are a frog!" Spidey nearly yelled at Thor.

"Thor's ego is somehow bigger than Sam's. Didn't think that was possible." Tiger thought.

"Oh, so be it." Thor said, while opening a portal to Asgard. Tiger's eyes began to widen in excitement.

The group walked through the portal, into the realm of Asgard.

The group arrived on Asgard, and it was nothing like Tiger expected, to say the least.

"Asgard covered in ice?" Thor said in horror. "No! Then Loki has already seized control. Beware young heroes."

"I don't like this." Tiger said to the others.

Before anyone could respond, a group of ice monsters appeared and froze them all.

Tiger began to shiver uncontrollably, as did the rest of the team.

"T-That w-went w-w-ell." Spidey said sarcastically, while shivering.

The ice monsters carried them into the royal chambers, where someone was sitting on the throne. Tiger assumed it was Loki.

"W-w-er're d-d-d-oomed." Power Man said, shivering.

"N-n-o. W-w-e're g-g-onna f-f-ind a way out." Spidey replied.

As Loki began to ramble to Thor, Tiger tried to think of ways to escape. Iron Fist, however, seemed to have beat her to it.

"This ice seems pretty thin." He observed, while rubbing it.

"Thin enough for you to punch through?" Spidey asked, determined.

"Perhaps Power Man and I could manage to break it." Iron Fist replied, raising his fist.

Iron Fist and Power Man began to punch at the ice. Tiger began to hear small cracks opening up.

"Joki!" Spidey yelled. "Sorry to ruin the sib moment, but we might have something to say about all that triumphant stuff."

Loki began to walk towards them, and Tiger internally panicked.

"How we doing on the ifsay of iron way action?" Spidey whispered to Iron Fist.

"Patience is a virtue." Iron Fist said simply.

"Then there are these." Loki said, approaching the team. "I wonder, Thor, keeping pets of your own?"

"He did not just call us pets!" Tiger said in annoyance.

"This coming from a girl dressed as a cat?" Nova joked. Tiger just ignored him.

Just then, Iron Fist and Power Man managed to punch through the ice, setting the team free.

The team then began to attack the ice monsters, starting off strong. Tiger took down monster after monster, letting out as much energy as she could. Nova then freed Thor, who was about to be attacked by an ice monster. Tiger then attacked the monster before it could touch Thor.

"Let's take 'em!" Tiger said attacking the monster, and landing on her feet. The monster was about to swing its ice bat down at her. Before Tiger could do anything, she felt a muscular arm grab her and swing her out of the way of the attack. She realized it was Spider-Man, and felt her cheeks heat up because of their close proximity.

"One side, spidey comin' through!" Spider-Man declared. Another ice monster then hit them with its bat, knocking Spidey and Tiger to the ground.

"We are so screwed." Tiger said in pain. They were losing this fight, badly.

Spidey looked around and must've realized the same thing.

"We're not gonna win!" Spidey said in defeat. "Hey, frog Prince! I'm ordering a tactical retreat. Get us outta here!"

Thor raised Mjolnir, and teleported the team out of the throne room.

"Wait, we can't just abandon the fight in the middle!" Tiger thought angrily.

The team suddenly landed in a snowy field. As everyone adjusted to the new environment, Thor began rambling.

"What are we thinking?" Thor questioned angrily. "Fleeing from battle? The son of Odin never…"

"Will you stow the attitude?" Spidey interrupted. "Nobody likes to run away. Personally, the only thing I hate more than running away is getting obliterated. Which is exactly what would've happened if we'd stayed!"

Tiger wanted to retaliate, but had nothing to say in response. For once, Spidey was right, they were getting their butts handed to them.

"We need a spitball, folks." Spidey continued. "Rally forces. Inventory strengths. Assess weakness. You know, come up with a real plan.'

"Wow, he's actually acting like a leader again." Tiger thought, slightly smiling underneath her mask.

"Oh yeah? And who put you in charge?" Nova challenged. "I was doing pretty good back there."

Tiger internally facepalmed at Nova's words.

"You broke a fish bowl!" Spidey retaliated.

"Come on!" Power Man interrupted. "Fighting among ourselves isn't helping anyone."

"Spider-Man's words ring true. Loki has gained advantage by exploiting my pride." Thor said guiltily. "My rush to battle may have doomed us all."

Tiger, feeling bad for Thor, approached him, "Don't be so hard on yourself." She said, "We all could have handled this better."

"Thor... you were right. This Asgard business may be too tough for us mortals." Spidey admitted. "What we need to do is lose the enchantment around you."

"I've got it!" Nova said. "Ava, kiss the frog."

"What?! You kiss the frog!" Tiger retaliated.

"Nuh-uh, that's not how it works. I've seen the movie." Nova responded. Tiger just growled at him.

"An idea." Thor interrupted. "Yes, the odds are long, but there may be someone who Loki has ignored in his conquest. He may offer us both a chance at tipping the scales back in our favor."

Thor began walking in a specific direction. The team looked at each other in confusion, and decided to just follow Thor to wherever he was going.

On the way there, Tiger began to get lost in her thoughts. So far, they weren't doing so well. Loki definitely has a huge advantage over them. She was honestly beginning to doubt that they could stop him, this was a battle that was out of their league, as much as she hated to admit it. The only good thing that seemed to come out of this was that they were slowly improving their team dynamic, and that Spider-Man was actually being a leader again. She hoped it would stay that way after this was all over, because Ava didn't think she could handle any more drama between the team and Spider-Man. Every now and then he would decide that he didn't need the team's help, and go off into battles on his own. She would never admit it, but not being updated by Peter every now and then was quite worrying, something could happen to him in battle and they wouldn't even know it because of distant he could be.

Tiger shook these thoughts out of her head, and continued walking with the rest of the group to Thor's ally, hoping things would get better from here.

Start of A/N

Alright that's it for this chapter. I know it's a bit dry in terms of new content, but I tried to implement Ava's POV wherever I deemed necessary. Next chapter will be better!

Now, in terms of the next update, it should actually be coming very soon! I wrote this chapter and the next one together, so it's almost done. It should actually be up within a couple of days or less! I just one last section to finish up, and then it'll be uploaded right away!

The next chapter is also much better than this one imo because it has a lot more new content added. This chapter served as a small build up to the next one in that sense, but I decided to split them up to upload sooner, and because it would be way too long together.

Anyways, that's all I got to say. Thanks for reading everyone!
