Author's Note: Another update for you guys. My plan is to post a chapter on Wednesdays and Sundays until I am up to date and then just go back to the last Wednesday of the month type of thing.
Thank you for the lovely comments and welcoming me back on my last chapter, you guys. Very appreciated 3... Also, a few answers since I can't reply to all via DM like I normally do.
Guest: Don't worry, I don't do discontinued fics. One thing that disappoints me most in fanfics is when I'm reading one and then it just... never gets updated again. I'll always go back and update/finish my fics, even if it takes me... a very long time.
Guest: Happy New Year to you too! So, my plan is to get this up to date and possibly pre write some chapters and then, I'm going to be focusing on getting back to Bound. So, I definitely will be getting back to it, I promise. I can't definitively say when but Bound is getting updated soon. I swear. I am beyond desperate to get back to that fic ha!
Hope you enjoy this chapter! Let me know what you think in the comments. I love hearing your guys' feedback. ^.^

Squinting as he leaned back from his camera, Gar offered up one of his signature grins, filled with boyish charm. He dragged a hand through his hair and shied away from the onslaught of sunshine soaking into every aspect of the yard he sat within.
With the mansion behind him and a full view of grass and a peek at the edge of the pool, Gar sat with his legs dangling over the edge; his feet submerged in the cooling water. He wore a loose-fitting wife beater vest; completely white with a few navy stripes across the middle. He matched it well with a pair of dark blue cargo shorts, cutting off just below the knees.
He leaned back against the palms of his hands and exhaled, limply lifting a hand away from the concreted edge of the pool to throw his arm out to the side; a much less enthusiastic movement as opposed to his usual intros.
"Whaaat's up guys, it's Gar and welcome back to my channel!" He breathed and then wiped his brow, "God, it's so frickin' hot out today, guys. I don't know why I thought it'd be a good idea to film this first part outside."
Gar let his head drop forward and groaned as sweat glistened on his upper arms, "I think it's about 103 degrees out today and it's only 10am. Jeez can I feel that heat already though..." He paused and wriggled his feet around in the pool, the water rippling around his ankles, "I have never been so grateful for a pool."
As he took a breath, Silkie padded into the frame, slumping down in an exhausted heap right next to Gar who gave the pup a pitying smile. He gently reached out and ruffled Silkie's fur, warm from the sun's rays beating down on the poor canine.
"Aw, Silkie… you hate this too, huh, boy?" He cooed, sitting up and using his other hand to dip in the water. He brought it back out after a moment, droplets sliding off his fingertips. He moved it over and carefully ran his damp fingers over Silkie's fur, just to give him a small respite from the heat.
"He's probably hating this the most. Silkie is constantly out in the yard but he can't do that as much right now since the heat is getting to the unbearable level. It's a good thing we have AC inside though, right bud?"
Silkie's only response was to tilt his head upwards slightly, his tongue poking out to moisten the tip of his nose, with his tail continuing to wag absentmindedly.
"Anyway, I'll try my best to stop complaining about California's ungodly heathave this August as I'm sure you're all pretty curious as to what we're doing this time." His grin widened, "And you'll all be ecstatic to know that we're doing another prank. But, who is the prank on this time, I hear you ask?"
Gar chuckled and repeated his earlier gesture of sticking his hand in the water and then refreshing Silkie with it, "It's on none other than my buddy, Vic."
He leaned forward, placing his elbows on his knees and staring into the lens of the camera, "Now, Vic has been staying over at Karen's this weekend and he isn't coming home til later on tonight and so, I thought, what a perfect time to prank his ass." He paused, "I could have also pranked Dick though since I'm pretty sure he's going out too."
Gar shrugged, "Ah well, we'll get Grayson next time… this one is gonna be amazing, you guys."
He glanced upwards at the clear blue sky and the scorching sun sitting high up, "Probably picked the worst day to do it considering it'll involve a lot of physical movements but hey, AC is gonna be our best friend today."
"So, I went ahead to Walmart yesterday afternoon since Rae and I were going for snacks anyway and I bought…" He hung on as he reached off screen and showed off a tin of bright candy apple red paint, "Some paint. I got red, light blue, green, yellow, dark blue, orange and purple. And what we're gonna do with this is give Vic's room a rainbow makeover."
Gar bit his lip to stop a smirk from forming too much on his face as he set the tin aside, careful not to nudge Silkie who was lazing whilst he talked, "Vic's room is pristinely white; he's never changed the wall colour since we first moved in. I think he prefers that whole clinical, modern look whereas the rest of the house is decorated, for the most part. However… recently, ol' chrome dome was talking about decorating his room and mentioned possibly painting the walls."
He threaded his fingers together and replaced his elbows where they were previously on his knees, "Since he said that, I decided to start the decorating process for him. I'm gonna be painting his whole room with striped rainbow colours, just to give him some… inspiration for what to do with his walls."
Bursting into a fit of laughter, Gar shook his head at himself and smirked, "I'm so excited; even if I run the risk of Vic booting me into next week when he sees what I've done. He did say about wanting more colour so I am just trying to help my best bud out with that."
His smile faded and he groaned, "Though, I am sort of on a time limit since it needs to be done and dry by the time he gets home tonight. I'm gonna have to move and cover all of his stuff since I do not want to ruin anything. Kinda takes the humor out of pranks when you do that. So, with that in mind, I'm gonna go inside and get started on this little DIY job. And, hey at least if Vic hates it - He's gonna hate it, let's face it - He can just paint over it!"
Gar glanced back at Silkie and gave him a tiny scratch behind his ear, causing the fluffy creature to lean into Gar's hand some more, clearly wanting more attention, "Alright, boy. How about we go inside where it's as cold as Antarctica?"
Silkie merely blinked at him but rose up, planting each of his paws firmly on the ground and awaited direction from Gar.
Grinning, Gar winked back at the camera, lifting a hand to shield his eyes from the brightness and using the other to cover the lens over, sending it into darkness.
Waving his hand back and forth in greeting, Gar grinned and took several steps back and spread his arms wide, the background very different to how it was before.
Behind him was a very pristine looking room with dark wooden floors and turquoise LED light strips at the edges of the ceiling, winding around the whole room and illuminating it with a calm glow.
"So, we've moved inside where it is nice and chilled. It's been a little longer… it is now…" He briefly pulled out his phone to check the time, "Oof… it's 12:03pm exactly which means I need to haul ass. I got distracted with a video game and a sandwich… and maybe some ice cream."
He shook his head and tugged his DIY folding table closer to the middle of the room since it wasn't completely in frame. The 7 tins of paint were now completely visible to his viewers whereas they weren't before.
"And if you haven't noticed, we're already in Vic's room. See what I mean? This place is super clean and super tidy. It looks like a hotel room or something." Gar waffled before he waved a hand dismissively, "Anyway. First thing's first. I'm gonna move anything that shifts easily, out of the room completely and then things like his bed, I'm gonna cover with plastic and some old sheets, to make sure I don't get paint on any of his stuff."
He leaned down and lifted a box of old, tatty looking sheets and bedspreads up, "See? We have these laying around in the attic, just in case we decide to decorate anything else in the house."
"What are you doing?" A deep voice rumbled from off screen,
Gar turned his head and grinned, "Dude! C'mere!"
A series of footsteps echoed and soon, Dick appeared in the shot, his brow raised in curiosity and his expression one of apprehension.
"What are you doing in Vic's room, Gar?" Dick asked, folding his arms against his chest,
"I may or may not be pulling a prank on Vic… wanna hear it?"
Dick snorted, "Do I have a choice?"
Gar mirrored his expression, "Nope! Okay, he's been talking about wanting to paint his room, right? So, I thought, why not give him some inspiration?"
With that, he gestured towards the clearly marked paint tins, his smile filling his whole face.
Dick glanced from the paint tins to Vic's room and shook his head, "Wow, he's going to actually murder you."
Gar chuckled, "He might end up liking it, you never know."
"Except I do know because I doubt he's gonna be down for a rainbow room." Dick pointed out, smirking as his eyes fell upon the yellow tin of paint.
"Maybe true. Wanna join me?"
Dick rolled his shoulders back and shook his head to decline, "As much fun as that would be, I'm heading out. I'm taking Silkie for a walk and then I'm meeting up with Wally for some lunch. I'll be home before Vic though so I can't wait to see what a mess this turns out to be."
Gar dramatically grasped at his shirt, right where his heart was on the left hand side, "Ugh! You offend me! I'm an artist, Dick. There is no mess that'll happen here!"
Laughing, Dick nodded, "Okay, we'll see about that."
"We totally will see!" Gar confirmed as Dick turned and offered a salute towards the lens of the camera, clearly aimed at Gar's viewers. He patted his leg just before he stepped out of the camera frame and there was a distinct echo of Silkie's paws pattering against the hardwood flooring in the hallway as he trotted up to Dick for his walk.
Gar shook his head, "That dog is either brave or a dumbass for wanting to keep going out in this ridiculous heat."
With that, he shrugged and slapped his hands together, turning all of his attention back towards the camera, "Alright, guess I'm completely doing this on my own then. Dick's gone out and the girls are out shopping for beach stuff. We're going down to Markov beach next weekend with the whole gang since it's nearing the end of Summer and we haven't had a proper beach day in agesss."
He paused and sighed, "God, I'm so distracted today. Anywho! I'm doing this by myself, so let's go move stuff."
Gar spun on his heel and immediately started wheeling and carrying certain items out of Vic's room; ones that were on the smaller side and were able to be shifted from one room to another without exerting too much time and effort.
With a grunt, Gar yanked Vic's desk with his laptop on top into the middle of the room, right on top of the large rug that covered the majority of the room's centre. He exhaled loudly as he straightened up, turning to find the next object that needed moving away from the walls.
He pushed a smaller foosball table into the middle of the room alongside Vic's bedside table and his dresser drawers, which albeit had items sitting atop of it that wobbled but did not fall off as he dragged it away from the wall.
Next, he gripped the edge of Vic's stereo and slid it across the room, into the middle, along with the majority of his belongings. Gar rolled his shoulders back and scurried over to the CD stack that was against the same wall as the stereo had been. He pulled it away, positioning it closely to the other things in the centre of Vic's room.
Gar stepped back and placed his hands on his hips, glancing around, making sure that there was nothing else still waiting to be moved, leaving only the bigger items in the room that had to be covered instead.
"Okay, we're off to a good start, guys!" Gar crowed, slapping his hands together as he grinned at the camera, still situated on top of the tripod behind the folding table.
He reached down and brought out one of many old sheets, humming to himself as he wandered over to Vic's bed, fitting it over the top of the bed that was close to the wall, ensuring it was pulled away from the wall just enough to tuck the sheet in behind the headboard.
"See… now… if I was an amatuer, I'd probably just paint the one wall and call it a day… but…" Gar grunted as he moved around the bed, making sure it was all covered, "On this channel… we go big on pranks."
Turning away from the bed, Gar made his way back over to the basket of old material and sheets, grabbing a grey one and moving towards Vic's TV that was mounted onto the wall, diagonal from the end of his bed.
He draped it over the big screen, gently tucking it around the corners since Gar really didn't want to get paint on the wires or anything either.
Gar wandered back over to the basket, pulling out a dirty white sheet that clearly had smears of old paint on it already. He flashed the camera a grin and continued moving around, humming a quiet tune to himself.
He wrapped it around the full length mirror that was situated in the corner of the room, slightly pulled away from the wall; again so that nothing was ruined with the paint.
Stumbling backwards from the last item in need of protection from his painting to come, Gar turned his head left and right to check that the room was properly prepped.
With a triumphant look on his face, Gar loudly slapped his hands together once again and channelled all of his focus on the camera. He wandered closer, a brow raised.
"So, like I said, I have 7 tins of paint here; each a shade of the colours in a rainbow… y'know, just so chrome dome knows for definite what his room makeover is based on."
He snickered to himself and let out a long sigh, absently reaching beneath the folded table and throwing several packaged paint trays onto the surface, each containing a free roller brush, meaning Gar could have one for each colour to avoid cross contamination in colours and ultimately wasting time that in the long run, he didn't have a lot of to spare.
"So… let's start off with the… red paint." He murmured, popping the tight lid off of the paint can before he started pouring the candy apple red shade into the tray, the smooth consistency flowing easily into the plastic tray.
When the tray was about half full, Gar lessened the load and tipped the can the right way up, pressing the lid down on the top again and lowering it beneath the folded table for safe keeping. Yeah
He bit down on his lower lip to resist the urge to laugh, "Ooooh, dudes… this is so bright and solid…" Gar explained with barely contained glee.
Pushing the first tray aside, Gar set to work on tearing the rest of the plastic packaging from the other 6 paint trays. He hummed a happy little tune as he busied himself in prepping the paint trays, popping the lid off of the tin of light blue paint which appeared to be next up.
Once the second tray was filled up with the sky blue shade of paint, Gar persisted until the other trays had also been individually filled with the remaining orange, yellow, green, dark blue and purple paints, haphazardly dropping the empty cans at his feet onto the wooden flooring once he no longer had use for them.
Clearing his throat, Gar spread the 7 bold colours out in a line; arranging them in the order of how he was planning to desecrate Vic's walls which was that of a rainbow.
His grin filled his entire face and his eyes twinkled as he shot the camera a mischievous glance, grabbing the handle of the first roller and dunking it straight into the thick red paint. Gar rolled the piece of handy equipment back and forth, coating every inch of the sponge with paint.
"Oookay… I think I'm good to start, dudes." Gar murmured, carefully tiptoeing over to the longest wall of Vic's room, despite no one else being in the house to hear him.
He held his free hand underneath the roller, just in case some of the paint decided to drip off and splatter against the floor.
Slowly, Gar crouched down and firmly pressed the roller against the blank white wall; starting at the baseboard, "Ah! There's no going back guys! The red is on the wall, I repeat; the red is on the wall!" Gar squeaked,
He pushed upwards, leaving a thick, vertical red stripe in the wake of the roller. The paint was sticking to the wall like glue, with very little patches being visible. He stroked the wall, up and down, as far as his arm could reach, which did leave him with a chunk of wall that was untouched near the ceiling.
Gar tapped his chin before dismissively waving his hand and shrugging, "I'll grab the step ladder before I finish and get the top parts later. Even if I was Vic's height, I don't think I could reach the top of the wall."
Where he had placed the camera in an ideal spot inside Vic's room as well as changed the lens for a wide shot lens, he didn't have to alter anything and the popping red strip of colour on Vic's otherwise flawless wall was undoubtedly clear for Gar's viewers.
He emitted a high pitched giggle like sound, clearly giddy from the prank he was pulling, "Dudes! Look at that! That is only one strip of paint and it's already packin' a punch…" He paused and chuckled, "God, Vic is gonna kill me…"
With that, Gar hurried back over to the foldable table and swapped the tray filled with red paint for the one filled with a fiery yet sunset shade of orange, grabbing the matching roller before he spun and headed back to the wall where he had started working.
"Orange next, y'all!" Gar called, but paused for a moment and scrunched up his face, "I hope I don't forget the order of a rainbow… red and yellow and… Wait; the song doesn't even tell me the right order. Uh… oh, well. It's fine. I'll google it because apparently, I can't remember a single rainbow I've ever seen."
Gar did as he had done before and saturated the fresh, clean roller with the hefty orange paint that clung to every single dry spot of the roller. Keeping as steady a hand as he could, Gar smeared the paint upwards, placing another vertical strip, right beside the red which blended nicely where the orange and still wet red overlapped a little.
He took a single step back from what he had done so far and tilted his head, biting the inside of his cheek in thought. He closed one eye and tilted his head the other way, almost as if measuring up the wall.
"I think this is the same width… I mean it should be since the rollers are the same size but… dude, my eyes are already freaking out cos' of the brightness of the paint!" He yelped,
Gar shook his head and trotted back over to the foldable table, gently placing the tray down to avoid any kind of spillage. He slipped his hands under the next one in line which happened to be the sunshine yellow shade that was just as striking as the previous two colours.
He carried it and the paired roller back over to the wall with him and cleared his throat, briefly glancing over his shoulder at the camera lens,
"Y'know… I don't think I've ever mentioned to you guys how long I've known Vic… it's part of the reason I think I'm able to get away with these kinds of pranks." Gar chuckled, rolling the sickly lemon paint up and down on the wall, right beside the orange.
"I've actually known Vic the longest out of the whole group. I met him back at the very start of Middle school. I didn't know many people since my parents had just relocated to Jump. I met Vic in Chemistry and I remember talking about aliens or something and he just sorta stared at me before he laughed at me and called me a weird dude which… apparently, my 11 year old brain acknowledged it as some kinda compliment?" Gar chuckled and shrugged his shoulders as he replaced the tray in his hands for the one with the shock of green paint in it, returning to his spot at the wall to keep painting the next coloured stripe.
"We've been best friends for the better part of about 13 years? Roughly?" Gar estimated, rolling the lime green paint up and down the wall in a thick, straight stripe.
He chuckled to himself, "God, that's a really long time. I feel old and I'm not even 25 yet."
Gar nodded at his work on the green section and traced his footsteps from the wall, back to the foldable table with the other trays sat upon it. He reached out for the light, pale blue shade and repeated his movements from before, ambling back over to the wall.
"I should probably give some backstory on the house itself and us… I don't think I've ever done that. But, I'm sure you guys won't mind even if you have heard it before." He took a breath and grinned as he started smudging the light blue paint up and down the white wall, "So, it all pretty much came together when we got to high school. Vic and I went in together and pretty soon after that, we met Rae and Dick who had both moved to Jump from Gotham. It was the second year of high school though when Kory entered the picture and moved to Jump from her tropical and hot as hell country; Tamaran."
He smiled brightly as he came back to where the camera sat and swapped the blue paint for the darker shade that was almost like a midnight kind of colour before heading back over, glancing over his shoulder at the lens to make sure the viewers knew he was still talking to them.
"We were all friends throughout the entire sentence which is known as high school and then we all graduated at around 18 years old. We kinda all had these paths we wanted to explore and choices that needed to be made… like… I personally didn't really wanna do that whole college thing when I graduated. I was bored of teachers telling me stuff so I kinda bounced around from job to job until I was 19 and then I finally went back and got a degree in Game design and programming."
Gar paused and smirked at the camera, "I know right? It sounds so technical and amazing. But, y'know, that's just me."
He laughed quietly to himself as he rolled the dark blue paint over the wall, "I'm kidding. But, yeah, I did that until I graduated at 22 and then… I was working for a company in game design but… I got kinda… bored of that too. I don't know man, it's hard to know what you wanna do."
Pausing, he lowered the paint roller and sighed, "It's weird. School is this… thing you do for about 15 or so years that's sorta there to prepare you for the rest of your life and your career and all that other stuff that comes with being an adult but God… when you actually reach the end, you're no clearer on what you wanna do than when you started all the way back in Kindergarten. I mean… I still think 5 year old me was onto something with wanting to be an astronaut."
He took a breath, "I don't know… I guess… there's always gonna be changes so you can't really have a solid plan of what you wanna do outside school cos' it just might not end up that way, whether you want it to or not. Everyone who's older than you just kinda expects you to know all the answers about what you wanna do with your future and honestly? You just don't have all of them when you're 18. You kinda just feel free, like the world is yours to do whatever you want-" Gar blinked and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, "Heh. Sorry, I didn't mean to go on some life tangent… ahem… anyway… that's what I did after high school until about 19 years old."
"The others had plans and some didn't. Vic and Rae went straight into college, knowing exactly what degree they wanted to do and what kind of path they wanted post college. Vic did a degree in computer science and then ended up splitting his time between tech and sports. He's partly an athlete; he competes in competitions and tournaments for a bunch of sports. He's amazing at basically all of them. But he also works over at STAR Labs too, working with brainy people to do scientific and technological advanced research that help… so many things become reality in the world."
Gar smiled quietly to himself and cleared his throat, "Rae was pretty much the same. The woman lives for books and poetry and just literature in general so it seemed pretty fitting that she did a degree in it. She worked at a bookstore and volunteered at the central library whilst she was doing her degree and now look at her! My lady has several published books and she's only gonna keep going with it."
"But… shockingly, I didn't really have much of a plan and like… Dick? He had all kinds of plans of what he wanted to do once school was over. He did a degree in Criminal Justice since he wanted that behind him to enrol for the police academy but he's taken a step back from that to set up his acrobatics and parkour training center and works sort of like a teacher for people learning those physical skills. He really loves it so I doubt the police thing is gonna happen any time soon. And to be fair, he's possibly the most mature out of all of us. He was living by himself since he was 14 years old… I won't go into too many details cos' Dick wouldn't like that and some, I just don't know. He moved to Jump at 14 and had an apartment right near our school." He grinned, "It was really great for parties when we hit 16 and 17 years old. Ha!"
Gar exhaled loudly as he moved back towards the camera, reaching for the mystical purple shade on the end of the table, dipping the roller in the thick substance before scurrying back over to the wall.
"And then, Kory… bless her. She had no idea what she was doing. Her stay in America wasn't really meant to be permanent but like I said, things change. She was meant to head on back to Tamaran at the end of high school and there was a lot that went on about that but she ultimately stayed here with her favourite people in the world. She got offered her first modelling contract pretty much as soon as we left school and she moved in with Dick. I don't really know if she'd planned to go to college but she did an online college course in linguistics since she knows like a bazillion languages and picks them up like it's super duper easy."
He poked his tongue out as he reached up as far as his arm could go, just so he could get as close to the ceiling with the purple paint as possible.
"But, going back to my initial point… we were all super close and then when we were all around 19, we made the decision to move into a house together since we were all, bar Dick and Kory, living with parents and wanted that taste of freedom away from home." He paused and laughed, "Honestly, I never imagined I'd be outta the house and moved into my own place by the age of 19 but that's what happens when you move out with friends. It's sorta easier to do than moving out by yourself."
Gar pulled away from the wall and ambled back towards the table, switching the purple back for the red to start the pattern all over again. As he wandered back towards the wall, he continued,
"A lot of it was actually thanks to Dick. He pretty much bought a big ass chunk of the house and then the rest of us just used what we had saved and added to it. So, we've now been living here for about… 5 years?" He paused, "It feels like we've actually been here forever. I love this place and I hope we never leave. If I eventually move out with Raven, I'm never gonna have a movie room and a game room!"
Starting anew, Gar rolled the brush into the scarlet, gloopy paint; back and forth, covering every patch that he could before he smacked it against the pale wall, restarting the sequence of colours.
He paused and let his head fall back against his shoulders, "God, the AC is barely doing anything. It's so frickin' hot dudes. If I die… just… tell Vic; 'haha'." He groaned, using his free hand to wipe the sweat off of his brow.
The camera wobbled as Gar held it up towards his face, grinning like the cheshire cat with the view of Vic's bedroom door behind him. His eyes darted beyond the camera and his expression only grew, "Okay guys… so my camera died, first off. I was talking for like 30 minutes before I realised the little red light wasn't blinking anymore." He chuckled, shaking his head at himself, "Second, I finished it and it looks… dope as heck. I'll show you in a second. It ended up being finished after about…"
He paused and glanced down at his phone for the time, "4 hours and it is now… about 4:30pm and it actually didn't take me as long as I thought it would. I left the camera off because I thought you guys would probably prefer that over me just continuing to jabber about that new movie, 'Galaxy Gremlins' and how awful the CGI was."
With that, he slowly spun the camera around, showing Vic's room completely covered in thick lines of multiple colours, resembling a horizontal rainbow that spread across all 5 walls that made up the bedroom. Each shade was equally as blinding as the others, with a dizzying visual considering the striped pattern throughout the entire room.
Gar panned the camera from left to right, showing how he had covered every single inch of the walls with paint.
"Duuudes… he's gonna hate this so much." Gar cackled, from behind the camera, "And look, I even went back and did the space near the ceiling… just for him."
He tilted the camera upwards, revealing that the paint went all the way up the wall, right up to the ceiling.
"In fairness… I did only do one coat of paint. That way it'll make it easier to paint over for him as he's inevitably going to." Gar snickered and swivelled the camera back around towards his smiling face,
"So, yeah I sped the process by not filming but y'know… I doubt that many of you would really wanna watch actual paint dry. That is not a good way to spend time on YouTube." He paused and glanced over to his right, eyes stroking the furniture still jutting out away from the walls, "I haven't moved his stuff back into place yet because it's not fully dry yet. But, y'know, it is getting there. I feel like either the heat or the AC is helping it dry faster."
Suddenly, the sound of the front doors opening and slamming shut, followed by the sound of Kory's laughter and Raven's monotone voice could be heard echoing off screen.
Gar's eyebrows shot up and his eyes twinkled with joy, "Ooh… the girls are home. They can be the first to see my masterpiece."
With that, Gar jogged out into the hall and leaned over the wooden railings, "Hey Rae! Kory! C'mere a sec!" He shouted,
"What now…" Raven could be heard muttering as the two of them moved towards the staircase,
"Honest, you won't regret it!" Gar continued,
"Wanna bet?" Raven retorted, causing Kory to giggle as they began the descent up the stairs. Gar spun the camera around just in time to capture them coming up.
As Raven turned the corner at the top of the stairs, she stopped, crossed her arms and tilted her head as Kory stopped at her side, hands clasped behind her back,
"What are you up to, Gar?" She asked, exasperated,
"And good afternoon to you as well, my perfect gothic goddess."
Kory smiled at the couples' interactions before Raven lifted a dark brow at her boyfriend, "C'mon… show us whatever it is you've spent the day doing."
Gar chuckled from behind the camera and walked backwards, keeping the camera trained on the girls, waiting for their reactions when they saw Vic's room.
"So, Dick already knows cos' he saw me prepping stuff before he went out with Silkie but… you know how Vic has been talking about painting his walls and kinda redecorating his room, right?"
Kory's jade eyes narrowed, "Yes…" She replied, rather hesitantly,
Gar's grin could be heard in his voice as he responded, planting a hand on Vic's bedroom door, "Well, I thought I would give him a hand with that…"
He pushed the door open and continued to move backwards, trying his absolute best to capture both of the girls' faces as they also stepped past the threshold of Vic's bedroom.
Raven's face contorted first, her eyes widening and her lips falling into a frown before she bit down on her lower lip, as if trying not to find amusement in the situation, "Oh no… Gar…" She murmured, disapprovingly as she wandered further into the room, her eyes widening slightly more when she saw the paint on every single patch of wall.
Kory stepped into the room just after Raven, lifting her head and gasping at the utter change to the otherwise bland room that belonged to their friend. The redheaded girl twirled slowly, her focus on the walls that were otherwise saturated in bright, bold colours of a rainbow. A hand went to her mouth that moved into an 'o' shape and her eyes widened in shock at the changes Gar had inflicted onto the room.
"Gar… what did you do to Vic's room?" Kory whispered, her attention switching from the room to him instead,
His chuckled voice echoed from behind the camera, "I told you, I gave it a makeover!"
Raven shook her head and tried her best to issue him with a glare but it didn't exactly look like one, even as she tilted her head and placed a hand on her hip, "He is going to toss you out that window, I don't know about anything else, Gar."
"Hey! I think it looks pretty damn cool!" He protested,
Kory turned in a circle once more before she gingerly sat on the edge of Vic's bed, her eyes still stroking the colours on the walls, "Truthfully, I kind of like it."
"Thank you, Kory! At least someone is appreciating my artwork." Gar stressed, causing Kory to laugh while Raven shook her head at him, her arms now crossed over her chest.
Suddenly, the sound of the front door opening and closing from downstairs caught the trio's attention, as a quiet voice and the pitter patter of paws could be heard just afterwards.
Kory raised an eyebrow towards Gar and lifted her chin, "Dick?" She called out, "Is that you?"
There was an excited bark in response and a repeated thumping up the stairs before Silkie came bounding into the room, clearly following the sound of Kory's voice. She giggled as Silkie sprinted over to her, his fluffy tail wagging back and forth. He lowered his head against her thigh, panting with his tongue hanging out.
"Hello, my silly bumgorf." Kory murmured, kissing the top of Silkie's head and scratching behind his ears.
A series of footsteps sounded followed by an all too familiar voice, "Kor?"
"In Vic's room!" She shouted back,
"What are you doing in-" His question fizzled off as he rounded the corner and stepped over the threshold into Vic's transformed bedroom, "... Holy shit."
Gar's grin could be heard so clearly despite his face not being visible to viewers, "I know right, I did a good job. It's okay, you don't have to say it."
Dick blinked in surprise at the sheer amount of colour in his friend's room. He whistled and shoved his hands into the pockets of his dark jeans, "Gar… honestly, I didn't expect you to be quite so… dedicated when I was leaving with Silkie."
"Dude, go big or go home." He snorted,
"Well… you definitely went 'big'. He is going to hate this." Dick grimaced as he dragged a hand through his hair and slowly made his way across to Vic's bed, stooping ever so slightly to give Kory a brief kiss in greeting before he took a seat beside her, Silkie tilting his head to look across at him.
Dick leaned his elbows against his knees and threaded his fingers together, still eyeing the painted walls, "In fairness, I think he would hate it more if it was something like… barbie pink all over."
Gar gasped, "Oh my God… that's so much better. Dick! Where were you when I was planning this!?"
Dick smirked and shook his head, "There's one for next time, I guess."
The camera shifted as Gar shrugged his shoulders before he swivelled the camera some more to get more shots of the paint on the walls.
"It doesn't even look like his room." Raven commented, peering closely at the red strip of paint on the last wall which was still in the drying process by the looks of it.
"Just make sure we're around when he comes home to see this…" Dick grappled for the correct word,
"Work of art? Piece for the ages?" He offered,
"Uh… I was gonna say eyesore but sure." Dick grinned, pressing a hand back behind where Kory was sitting to lean on.
"You guys are all gonna be super surprised when he turns round and says that he loves it and he is gonna keep it this way forever and ever." Gar joked,
Raven smirked, "That's exactly what he's going to say."
Gar chuckled, "It's okay anyways. If he hates it that much, he can just paint over it with a really solid white paint."
Dick snorted and got to his feet, offering Kory a hand which she took and stood as well, causing Silkie to shuffle back but he continued to stare up at his owners, wondering where they would be going.
"Yeah… I reckon he's gonna need a few cans of white paint to cover all of this properly, Gar." Dick pointed out, "Anyone else hungry? I'm gonna make some tacos or something."
"Ooh… yes, please." Kory replied immediately, squeezing his hand and beaming at him,
"Didn't you go out with Wally for lunch?" Gar queried,
"Yeah but that was like 3 hours ago."
Raven shrugged and moved towards Vic's bedroom door, "Tacos sound good. We might need to think of takeout ideas since I doubt Vic will want to cook dinner for everyone after he sees the state of his room."
Dick snorted and followed after the dark haired girl, gently tugging his girlfriend along, Silkie plodding behind them as he followed.
Gar turned the camera around and grinned at the lens, "Okay, so I'm gonna go get a veggie taco and I'll check in with you guys either when the walls are dry and I can move his stuff back orrr when Vic gets home."
With that he cupped the lens and sent the picture into darkness.
Gar wiped his arm across his face as he took a step back from the freestanding camera; Vic's bedroom in the background. The room was looking much more finished now that he had moved the majority of Vic's belongings back where they were meant to be.
The protective sheets had been removed from things like the TV and the long mirror. His stereo and desk had already been pushed back into their original places around the room with only a sheet remaining, draped over Vic's bed with it jutting away from the wall still.
Dimly illuminated by the dying sunlight as the world waved goodbye, Vic's room still appeared to be as vibrant as it initially was when Gar finished painting it earlier in the day.
"Alright guys so it's almost 7pm now and Vic should be home really soon so I'm just pushing everything back to where it's meant to be. The walls are all completely dry so once I finish with his bed, we are good to go!" Gar explained, taking a few steps backwards so that he stood at the end of Vic's bed.
He hummed to himself for a moment and yanked the sheet off of the bed frame, wrapping it up in a ball and throwing it over to the door. Gar planted his hands at the foot of the bed and lowered his head, pushing forward as hard as he could.
The bed shuddered slightly as it scraped across the wood flooring and Gar kept going until the headboard bumped against the wall.
Gar lifted his head to check it was in the proper place and straightened his back, placing his hands on his hips. He dragged a hand through his hair and exhaled loudly.
"Damnnn. It's still super hot and the AC isn't really doing a lot considering all the moving I've been doing." Gar groaned, letting his head fall back against his shoulders.
His head shot up suddenly and he sprinted over to Vic's window and peered outside, bouncing on the spot with a sense of excitement and apprehension.
"Oooh! Okay, okay. Vic's just pulled in." Gar turned and made his way back across the room to the camera, grinning, "Let's see how this goes."
Reaching for the camera, Gar detached it from the tripod it had been secured onto and grappled with it in his hands. He turned it away from himself, the lens focusing on the bedroom door instead.
The image wobbled as Gar made his way out of the room, gently closing the door behind him. He hurried around the railings and looked over, seeing the handle of the front door beginning to turn.
He stayed where he was so that he had a clear visual of Vic when he entered the house and had the camera steady on the edge of the railing.
One of the two large, oak front doors slowly started to open and Vic stepped through, humming to himself, "Yo! Anyone home?" He yelled as he readjusted the small duffle bag he had taken with him to Karen's, on his shoulder,
"Good evening, Victor." Gar said from behind the camera in a voice way deeper than his normal one.
Vic visibly jerked and walked the small distance until he was staring up at his best friend, "Gar? What're you doing? And what's with the weird ass greeting?"
"Uh… no reason…" Gar replied, unconvincingly.
"Actually… better question. Why were you just standing there waiting like a weirdo?"
Gar nervously chuckled, "Well… I have something to show you."
Vic narrowed his cobalt eyes and crossed his arms across his chest, "What have you done?"
"Wha- Why do you always think the worst of me?"
His face went blank and his eyebrows raised slightly, "Uh, because it's you."
"...Okay, point taken." Gar sighed dramatically, "Well… I guess I'll just tell you… to possibly avoid your room then."
Vic's eyes widened and his feet started moving instantaneously, thundering up the stairs as he lumbered up to witness what Gar had done.
"What have you done to my room, grass stain?" He accused, reaching the top of the stairs and rounding the wooden railings.
Gar remained passive and the smirk could be heard in his voice as he spoke off screen, "Just… freshened it up a little, is all."
Vic pulled a face and stalked closer but Gar spun and aimed the camera at Vic's bedroom door, dashing through it and turning again immediately so that he would be able to capture Vic's reaction to the changes in his room.
Sure enough, the door hesitantly opened and Vic came inside, squinting his eyes as if expecting his room to be obliterated or something.
As soon as he was over the threshold, his eyes were the size of dinner plates and his jaw dropped at the sight of his bedroom. He stared and pressed his hand to his forehead as he turned his body left and right, eyeing the colours splashed across his walls.
"What… the fuck…" Vic muttered, his eyes not leaving the walls,
"Ta-da…" Gar murmured, keeping his camera trained on his friend but also being careful, not being quite sure what Vic was thinking.
"GAR, MAN!" Vic yelled out, letting the hand on his forehead drop down the back of his head, "Why does my room look like the inside of a care bears' reunion!?"
Gar couldn't help but laugh at the reference, "Dude! You said you were thinking about redecorating. I thought I'd give you some inspo!"
The door opened again and Gar turned the camera to show Raven, Kory and Dick all standing in the doorway, alerted by Vic's reaction. The three of them appeared to be holding back giggles themselves.
"Wait, you're saying you don't like this decor, Vic?" Dick asked sarcastically, "Who would have guessed that?"
Vic spun around and waved his arms around, "Look at this! I feel like I'm in a leprechaun's wet dream, just waiting to spot a pot of gold or some shit."
Kory and Raven snorted at that whilst Dick smirked and leaned against the door frame, just watching the reaction unfold.
Vic let out a chuckle but groaned and dropped his head back, covering his face with his hand, "Gaaar, man. Whyyy?"
"I mean, I thought you would love it, dude." Gar joked, earning a pointed look from Vic as he lifted his hand from his face to glare at him,
"It is so bright and inviting, Vic. Surely, you would want all of our friends to see your room makeover?" Kory jested, good naturedly.
"Exactly. I wonder how much Karen will love it?" Raven joined in, unable to help herself.
Vic bit his lip in an attempt to not laugh, "I hate all of y'all, I swear."
"Nah, you don't though." Dick retorted, winking at him,
Vic shook his head in disbelief and glanced around the room once again, "Fuck sake… it seriously just looks like a kids playroom or something. It's so not funny."
"And yet, you're trying super hard not to laugh, dude." Gar pointed out,
"It's the only thing stopping me from yeetin' you out the window, that's why." Vic deflected, threading his fingers together behind his head,
"Hey! That's exactly what Rae said you'd wanna do!" Gar chuckled, whilst Raven tilted her head as if to say, 'I told you so'.
Vic moaned again and sighed, trying his best not to completely hate it since he would have to tolerate it at least until he bought some paint and went over it, "I guess… it could be worse…"
"So you do like it!" Gar snickered,
His best friend pointed a finger in his direction, "Dude. Don't even. I am so close to locking you outside tonight." Vic paused, "How long did this even take you?"
"Uh… like… 5ish hours?" Gar estimated,
Vic's brows hit his hairline, "That is a lot of dedication for a prank, dude."
"He takes longer than that just to clean his stuff away in our room." Raven mumbled, rolling her eyes,
"Yeah but this was more fun than tidying our room, Rae." Gar returned,
Vic reached into his back pocket and brought his phone out, tapping at the screen and holding it out in front of him, waiting.
"What are you doing?" Dick asked,
Smiling in defeat, Vic shook his phone slightly, "Facetiming Bee."
It took a long moment but soon enough there was a static sounding,
'Hey Sparky. You missing me already of somethin'?'
"You wanna see something that'll probably make you laugh?" Vic asked, his voice taking on a monotone that could rival Raven's.
'Always, duh.'
Vic tapped the screen so the phone camera would turn around and he showed off his newly decorated room, showing each and every wall that was covered in vibrant paint.
Suddenly a fit of cackling bubbled from his phone and she sounded like she was thoroughly tickled from what had been done to his room.
"Babe, you're meant to be on my side, remember?" Vic prompted,
'Ha! Yeah sure baby but…' She broke off to laugh some more, 'Your room looks like it's been dashed by the sugarplum fairy or somethin'.'
Vic lifted his head to the others who were laughing alongside Karen, who was finding the whole thing as equally amusing as everyone else was.
'Hey Gar!'
Gar hurried over to Vic's side and held his camera so it showed Karen, wearing a lemon loungewear set and her ebony locks up in a big puffy bun on top of her head.
"Yeah, Karen?" Gar asked, waiting for something witty as she usually delivered,
'Next time, you should throw some glitter in there or something too.'
"Bee!" Vic gasped, feigning betrayal,
'Oh! Oh! Or you should get like a big ol' unicorn sticker to just slap on there too!'
Gar burst into laughter, the camera shaking from where his whole body was wracked with mirth, "Karen, that's so awesome! Well, at least I know who I need to grab to help me next time I prank him!"
"Ah! No! Do not help him." Vic chastised, pulling his phone away from Gar, "Ite, you've had your giggle. I'll talk to you later."
There was a sudden chorus of 'Byeee!' from each of them before Vic ended the video call and put his phone back in his pocket.
"So… do you think you'll change it?" Gar asked, smirking,
"Oh absolutely. 100%. This shit is awful." Vic chuckled and gave him a light shove, "Dumbass. You'll be helping when I paint it over with white. Hope you know that."
Gar laughed and turned the camera around to his face, "Deal." He focused his attention on the lens and beamed, "Alright guys. I think I got off lightly there and I haven't been thrown through a window. We will be calling that a win!"
"Don't speak too soon." Vic warned with a snort,
The youtuber shook his head and winked at the lens, "Thanks so much for watching, you guys. Don't forget to like and subscribe to my channel if you haven't already! Otherwise, I will see you all in the next one!" He held a two finger salute, "Peace!"
