Part 16: Under attack
Jak barely left Korras room after he had rescued her from when Tarlok captured her and then the two of them escaping from Amon. He noticed her slowly waking up and she smiled when she saw him, "Hey," she said.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" He asked as she sat up.
"Better, though I could use something to eat," she said rubbing the back of her head while Jak smiled. A while later the two of them sat at the table with Mako, Bolin, Asami, Tenzin, Lin and Pema.
"This is great, thanks Pema I'm starting to feel much better now," said Korra smiling as she ate food.
"That's good to hear, I'm just going to put some of this stuff away," Pema said picking up some of the dishes.
"Here I'll give you a hand," said Asami standing up as well and when the two of them left the room Lin and Tenzin stared at the two avatars with a serious look on their faces.
"I know you've been through a lot Korra, but is there anything else you can tell us about what happened," said Tenzin.
"We already know from Jak that Tarlok is Yakones son, which explains how he was able to blood bend without a full moon," said Lin.
"Well we ran into some trouble when Jak helped me escape," Korra said making them look confused, "Amon was there," she said.
"Luckily we escaped before he could reach us," said Jak.
"This is bad, Amon has never been this direct in his attacks before and trying to capture the avatars is a bad sign," said Tenzin before looking serious, "It looks like Amon is reaching his end game now," he said.
Later after Tenzin had left for a council meeting Jak, Korra, Mako, Bolin and Asami were sitting in the eating area when they heard explosions coming from outside. The five of them ran outside finding Lin standing with members of the white lotus.
"Whats going on?" Korra asked looking at city. There were airships that were different form the police airships flying around and there was smoke coming up from different parts of the city.
"The city is under attack, its not looking good," said Lin.
"We need to go, do you two remember where you parked the car?" Asami asked looking at Korra and Jak.
"You guys go there, I'm going to go look for Tenzin," Jak said looking serious as he took out his glider.
"Head to the police station, if hes safe he should be there going for help," Lin said, "Make sure he comes back quick, Pema just went into labor not to long ago," she said.
"I will," said Jak before Korra grabbed his hand and kissed him on the lips. She then pulled away.
"Be safe out there, will catch up as soon as we can," she said looking worried.
Jak nodded at her before he ran forward and took off on his glider. He flew over the city seeing explosions gong off and when he reached the police station he saw Mecha tanks in front of the building. Tenzin was fighting them off as one mecha tank put the officers into a truck.
Jak landed on one of the buildings and moved his hands. Shooting lighting at one of the mecha tanks, causing an explosion and making it fall down. He then noticed equalists approaching people who were standing outside the entrance.
He jumped down and used his glider to fly in front of the equalists. He landed in front of them and sent out a slash of air pushing them back.
"Jak," Tenzin said looking surprised before dodging a rope trap from one of the mecha tanks.
"All of you run," Jak said looking back at the people before dodging a punch from one of the equalists. He sent out a blast of fire that one of them dodged and send out a blast of air that pushed one of them back.
Jak put his staff through the strap on his back and opened his bottle of water. He sent the water at one of the equalists making him fall on his back and then looked to see a mech tank heading for Tenzin.
Jak jumped over with a blast of air and froze its feet. He then pushed his hands forward making it fall back.
"Saikon," Tenzin said and Jak noticed the truck with the officers in it drive away. The mecha tanks left moved in front of them as Jak held his hands up ready to fight. Then he looked past one of the mecha tanks seeing the others in the sato mobile. Bolin made a ramp before they all jumped out and the sato mobile went up it before crashing into one of the mecha tanks.
Korra ran over to Jak as the two of them sent one of the Mecha tanks back with a blast of fire. Korra then bended up the earth behind making it trip before Jak made it fall back with a blast of air. The two of them looked to see Mako reflect the lighting from the last mecha tanks cables, causing an explosion and making it fall back.
Jak then notices two equalists trying to run, he pushed one down with a blast of air while Asami shocked the last one with her electric glove, "Alright we did it, but that doesn't look good," Bolin said pointing at air temple island where an equalist ship was flying over it.
"Oh no," said Tenzin before they rushed to find Oogi. They flew back to air temple island finding equalists were already tied up, Lin, Jinora, Ikki and Meelo were outside.
"Dad," Jinora, Ikki and Meelo said running over to Tenzin and hugging him.
"They really fought well," Lin said making Tenzin look surprised.
"You let them fight," he said looking annoyed.
"I would have been done for if they hadn't come to help, you taught them well, you should be proud," Lin said.
Tenzin looked at his children before he smiled, "Your right," he said smiling.
"Go to your wife," Lin said before Tenzin headed inside. Jak looked back at the city noticing airships were heading in their direction. Jak, Korra and Lin walked inside and headed to the room where they found Tenzin holding his and Pemas new baby boy.
"Whats his name, can I choose?" Ikki asked.
"We've already thought of one," Tenzin said smiling at Pema, "Rohan,".
Jak smiled before Korra spoke up, "I hate to be the one to say this, but more troubles on the way," she said as they all looked worried. Tenzin handed Rohan to Pema before he walked with Korra, Jak and Lin outside.
"Amon has us outnumbered for now, we need to leave," said Tenzin.
"Wait so we're retreating," Korra said.
"Were falling back, Ive already sent word to the general of the united forces, once I make sure my family is safe ill come back and will take back the city together," he said.
"I understand, be patient and wait to fight," said Korra.
"And that's when will win," Jak said placing a hand on her shoulder and she smiled.
"You've really learned well," Tenzin said smiling at the two of them.
Tenzin, his family and Lin who was there to protect them, got on Oogi while the air acolytes got another Bison. Tenzin hugged Jak and Korra, "The two of you have come really far, make sure to look out for each other," he said.
"We will," Jak said before Tenzin got on Oogi and the two Bison took off. Then two more equalist airships flew in front of the island shooting cables to the ground. Equalists slid down them as white lotus members stood in front of team avatar.
"Will hold them off, now go," one of them said.
Korra jumped onto Naga, then Jak, Bolin, Mako and Asami, "Lets get going girl," Korra said before Naga started running down the steps.
"Creepy mustache guy," Bolin said pointing at the man wielding electric batons. He jumped down from a hill when Naga jumped into the air, hitting him with her paw and sending him flying.
"Alright," said Bolin.
"Well done girl," Korra said as the polar dog barked before jumping into the water.
Jak and Korra formed a larger water bubble around them to breath as they headed back to the city. They reached a sewer pipe and as the sun set Jak and Korra looked back at air temple island.
Jak looked over at his girlfriend, noticing the sad look on her face he held her hand, "Come on, this isn't over yet," he said.
"Your right, lets go," she said before the group headed back into the city.
