Jane finds Carisi and tells him she's talked to Dean. They have an agreement to move Hoyt. Carisi lined up New Jersey, Dean lined up New Hampshire.
They walk into interrogation and tell Hyatt what they have. He has 15 minutes to start talking or things are going to take a turn that he's not going to like.
"Fine. She's not hurt. The drugs I gave her before I went to the gym should be wearing off by now. She is a little banged up, but she'll be fine. She's in Hell's Kitchen. There is a closed restaurant there. The back door is unlocked. She's there."
Olivia is getting pissed now. "Look, I've been the patient one, but now I'm pissed. You need to give me something more to go on than that. If we have to go looking for every unlocked door, on every closed restaurant, you're not going to like me very much. In fact, Jane here isn't a NYPD Detective. I can let you out of here and she's just a citizen. She can beat the hell out of you and I'm sure I'll have about 10 witnesses that will say that she was defending herself against an attack. Do you really want to take your chances on that, or do you want to talk?"
"You know, you're a bitch."
"Good. I've been working on that. Thanks for the compliment. Now, where the hell is she?", Olivia starts yelling.
"The former Azuri Cafe, West 51st St. near 10th Avenue."
"Jane, Finn, Rollins, go. I'll have a couple of patrol cars and ambulance dispatched to location."
Maura hears the commotion and looks out of Olivia's window and sees them all running out. She sees them all grab their Kevlar vests. She really hopes that they all come back safe.
They arrive on the scene. Patrol cars have two out front and two in the alley. The ambulance is in the alley. Finn takes the front door and and Jane and Rollins the back. They all go in at the same time. There is no power in the building. They are all calling for Kat. They search everywhere. Rollins finds her in the freezer, tied to a chair. She cuts the ties. She yells, "I've got her!!" Freezer!".
Finn and Jane come running. Kat is beaten, but alive. Shallow breathing and weak pulse. Finn carries her out to the alley so they can take her to the hospital. He calls Olivia to let her know.
Olivia lets Carisi know. He moves Hyatt to a holding cell for the night. He wants to make sure Kat is really okay before he files charges. "Liv, go, I'll meet you at the hospital soon."
Olivia opens her office door, Maura sees a smile on her face. They nod a "yes" to each other. Maura wakes up Elizabeth to give her the news.
"Captain Benson, can we go to the hospital, please? I need to see that she's okay."
"Maura, are you up to going back to the hospital this soon?"
"Olivia, for Kat, absolutely. Let's go."
Olivia helps Maura into the car and the three head to the hospital. When they arrive Olivia flashes her badge and they direct her to where they have Kat. Olivia talks to Finn, Jane sees Maura. She hurries over to her and fills her in.
"She was zip tied to a chair. Black eye. My guess, broken nose. Banged up knuckles. Shallow breathing. Weak pulse. Unconscious. They say she'll be fine. Until we can talk to her, we can't know for sure."
"Jane, do you think you can get me in to see her or maybe talk to one of her doctors?"
"Ummm...I don't know. Maybe."
The doctor comes out and sees everyone. He asks, "Who is in charge of this group for Katriona Tamin?"
Olivia speaks up, "That's me, I'm Captain Olivia Benson."
"I'm Doctor Elliott. Katriona will be fine. She's banged up but I don't see any reason that she won't make a full recovery. We're going to keep her overnight just for observation."
Maura speaks up, "Dr. Elliott, I'm Dr. Isles, Chief Medical Examiner of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Katriona is a friend of mine. May I see her? I promise I won't wear her out or anything."
"Yes. I'll let the nurse know. I come from a cop family. I know how it works. I'm giving you guys some latitude here. Just be careful." They all acknowledge they understand.
Maura speaks up first, "I want to go in first. Do my own assessment. See where she is emotionally and if she wants any visitors. I feel I owe it to her to check on her."
She walks into Kat's room. "Hey, Kat. You ready for a visitor?"
"Dr. Isles. What are you doing here. Didn't you go back to Boston?"
"I did, but when we heard you were taken, we came to help find you."
"You didn't have to do that. My team would have found me just fine."
"Oh, Kat, it's no problem. We were happy to help. I'm fact, you've got a lot of people out there to see you. I asked to come in first to check and see if you were up for it and how you were holding up."
"Honestly, I just. My ribs and my hands. Oh, and my nose."
Maura takes one of Kat's hands with hers, "Good defensive bruising.
We saw his black eye. Good job."
"Yes, ma'am."
"You don't have to call me ma'am or even Dr. Isles. I'm Maura."
"Thank you."
"Did they set your nose? How bad does it hurt?"
"I don't know if they did. It's uncomfortable to breathe."
"Oh, you'd know if they set it. Would you like me to do it?"
"Sure." She turns her head so that Maura can fix the nose. You hear a little "snap" noise when she does it.
"Damn, that hurts. Yeah, no one did that. I would have remembered that. Oh, I can breathe easier."
"I'll get you some ice. It'll help with the swelling and cut down on the bruising, unless you want to look like Mike Tyson."
"Well, I do box, but...", Kat says laughing.
"Well, Kat, I'm glad to know that you took my advice and you talked to that girl that you told me about."
"How did you know that?"
"I met Elizabeth. She's very sweet. She's very intelligent and attractive."
"How did you meet her?
"Jane and Amanda went to talk to her to see when she last talked to you. She came back to the station to wait until you were found. She waited with me while the detectives did the hard stuff."
"Is she here??"
"She is. Do you want to see her?"
"I do, please. Can you bring her in?"
Maura scoots to the door, "Elizabeth, she wants to see you."
Elizabeth walks in the room. Maura starts to leave. Kat stops her, "Maura, please stay." Maura stays.
"Elizabeth, hi. Thank you for coming. Maura says that you stayed at the station and helped."
"I did. They came and started asking questions about when I last talked to you. They told me you were missing and I wanted to help. I thought you were ghosting me. I was really hoping you'd ask me out again."
Kat smiles. "Well, I do want to ask you out. Maura here is responsible for getting me to ask you out in the first place. She had a brush with death lately and reminded me that life is short. So, I finally asked you out."
"Wow. Thank you, Maura."
"You're both welcome. I know you guys probably want to talk, but Kat you've got several people to see you. Captain Benson, Amanda, Finn, Sonny, Jane and Detective Frost. I don't think I can hold them off much longer."
"Detective Frost? I don't know who that is."
"Oh, sorry. Barry Frost. We brought him with us from Boston."
Kat laughs, "Bring them in."
Maura opens the door and tells everyone to come in. They all tell how glad they are she was found.
Olivia steps in, "Kat, I need you to look at this photo and see if you know this man.", she shows a picture of Hyatt.
"Yeah, I've seen him at the gym a few times. He jumped me a couple of nights ago. I tried to fight him. He's the one that broke my nose. He kicked me a few times, that accounts for the broken ribs. He is the one that tied me to the chair and drugged me."
"Kat, this is important, did he work with anyone else?"
"No. He was the only one I saw. He did receive a couple of calls. They didn't last long. He couldn't call the person calling him. That made him mad. He ranted about that."
Jane tells Kat, "That's because he's Charles Hoyt's son. He couldn't call the prison, he had to wait for Hoyt to call him. He wanted to get to me, again. This guy isn't as smart or as strong as Hoyt."
"What was his end game?"
"To get Hoyt transferred to a prison back East. He's getting that. It was part of the agreement to get information to get you back."
"But he's going to have charges filed against him. What's the point?"
Carisi jumps in, "Well, we think he was supposed to do more to follow Hoyt's plan, but he isn't his father. He gave up. He's being charged with kidnapping, assaulting a police officer, possession of narcotics and conspiracy. He knew that if we had the audio to go with the surveillance video at Lompoc he had no defense. He gave up."
"Wow. Thank you, everyone. Jane and Maura, oh and Detective Frost, thank you."
"Kat, you saved my life. You're family."
"How long are you guys going to be in town?"
"We are going to be here another two-three days. I bet Captain Benson here is going to expect you to be out about that long."
"Yes, I do. I have CSU going over the restaurant to see if there are any other prints. We have the last payroll list of the restaurant to cross off those names. Any other print, I want you to look at the DMV photos. I just want to make sure we have all we need before the Grand Jury on Hyatt. I'll call you when you need to come see me. I don't want you at the Precinct unless I call you."
"Kat, I'm really glad you are okay. Maura and I are going to head out. We'll see you tomorrow. Call one of when they discharge you. Frost, we're going to head to the hotel. You want to come with us?"
"No, I'm going to go get a drink with Finn, Amanda and Carisi. I'll see you tomorrow morning."
Maura takes Jane's hand and they leave the hospital. Jane careful to keep pace with Maura and her scooter. They take a cab to the Precinct to grab their luggage then to the Park Central Hotel.
