The bright wide grin stretched on Mike's loving lips melted my heart within seconds.
He found me amongst the crowd of partying young adults just like the very first time we met. I was back, back in this alternate universe of L.A., and back into his life.
'Don't get too excited. You're only here for a while, Mary...' The inner voice of my conscience let out, warning me of the temporary visit.
And, until that time struck, I was going to make the best of it. But, right now, I needed to be in the present and spend as much time with Michael.
He was all that mattered to me.
"Thank you very much! Hope you you enjoyed the show! Goodnight!" Micky shouted into his microphone position above his drum kit.
The band had finished their performance tonight, beginning to store away their instruments as the club began to supply music to entertain the crowds.
I maneuvered through the dancing teens, pushing my way towards the band stage.
"Hello, Shotgun..." My pink lips curled into a grin, instantly gaining the attention of the boy wearing the green wool hat.
"Mary..." He gently called my name, sending chills all over my body as I leaned by the stage for support.
"You were great tonight." I tried to play it cool, but I may have been embarrassing myself more than I thought.
Mike climbed off the stage, standing inches away from me before circling his arms around my waist. He pulled me against his warmth, smiling down at me with that irresistible smirk.
"I'm glad you enjoyed the show, but I'm even more happier that you're here..." Slowly, he leaned down, feeling his breath against my lips as I anticipated the fire to ignite inside my core.
"Mary!"
Suddenly, I felt myself being pulled away from Mike and spun around by the guys in the band. They crushed me in their grasps, laughing with excitement as I couldn't resist giggling at their actions.
"How was San Diego?"
"Is your dad okay?"
"Are you okay?"
"All of us really missed you!"
"Please, don't leave us again!"
Both Peter and Davy bombarded me with questions before I could even answer the first one.
"Um...well..." I started to speak, still remained in Pete's arms as I heard Micky's voice drowning out mine.
"Hey, come on, guys. Let's leave them alone, okay? We can ask Mary about her trip tomorrow, but right now let her spend time with Mike." Micky pulled me away from Peter and wrapped his arm over my shoulder.
"I'm happy you're back, Marilyn. Mike's been heartbroken without you, he really missed you. It's great to see him this happy again." He whispered softly in my ear, bringing a warm flutter in my heart as he spoke to me about his good friend.
"Me too." I softly let out, seeing the wide grin spread along his face, as he walked me back over to Mike.
"Hey, Mike. The guys and I are going to catch a movie, hope you two have fun, tonight. See you later." Micky tossed the car keys at him, as he caught them with his hand. His other hand had returned around my waist.
Michael looked at Micky with a smile of appreciation, watching them leave the night club.
The two of us were now alone.
"So, what would you like to do?" He drawled out, gazing me with those rich brown eyes filled with excitement.
"As long as I'm with you, I don't care." I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him towards me as I felt Mike's longing lips against mine.
ā
"...you kissed me oh, so tenderly and I know this was love. And as I held you, oh so close
I knew no one could ever take your place, ohh.
One summer night, we fell in love
One summer night, I held you tight..."
The talented voices of The Danleers echoed through the still air of the empty beach house. Mike and I were the only residents present.
When we left the Vincent, Mike and I went to Vicki's for some dinner, ending up back at the beach house and slow dancing to the music played on the jukebox.
"Oh, Mike..." My words hushed in a soft whisper, feeling Mike's lips against my neck. Our bodies swayed to the rhythm of the beat.
"Mary..." His voice caressed my delicate skin, causing my knees to buckle. If it wasn't for his strong hold around my waist, I would have collapsed on the floor straight away.
"Please, don't stop, Michael." I begged, lost in a whirlwind of pleasure.
He was completely intoxicating, the burning sensations of his calloused fingers running up and down my hips, slowly lifting my blouse and pressing over my bare skin drove me deeper in ecstasy.
I was afraid, afraid of letting him and this moment go to waste.
"Oh, darling..." Mike's Texan drawl made my stomach twist with knots, feeling his lips back on mine.
Suddenly, he brought me onto the hardwood floor with gentleness. His body hovered above mine, feeling weakened by desire and lust.
"You're so beautiful." He softly nibbled the bottom of my ear, murmuring with his meaningful words.
Soon, his mouth overcame with mine, slipping in his tongue as our kiss deepened. Naturally, I followed his bold movements, our mouths dancing in passionate bliss.
The buttons of my blouse were undone, feeling the chilly air send goosebumps all over my expose skin. Mike had discarded his jean jacket and tee shirt, revealing his slight muscular torso. His hands roamed every inch of my upper body, making my back arched from the heated sensations.
Suddenly, his hand glided alongside my leg, moving further and further up my skirt and closer to my sensitive womanhood.
"Mike, wait!" My hand managed to pull his away from my skirt, feeling my senses sobering up from the intense euphoric excitement.
I pushed myself into a sitting position, seeing the shameful look written all over Michael's face.
"Marilyn, I-I'm sorry! I should have controlled myself..." He held onto my hand, placing the other against my cheek and staring at me with those guilt ridden eyes.
"I don't know what came over me...It's just that I really missed you..."
"Mike..." I spoke out his name with endearment, feeling both my hands in his own.
"I-I love you Mary. Ever since I first saw you at the Vincent, I'd fallen madly in love with you. I know we haven't been together for very long, but you're the only one I want to be with." He admitted his feelings to me and in that very moment, my heart wanted to burst from his confession.
Tears rimmed underneath my eyes, hoping to hear those sweet words spoken by him for the longest time.
"Michael, Iā"
"You don't have to say anything, I'll understand..." His forehead gently rested against mine, overwhelming me with happiness.
"I do want to say something, Mike." I pulled away, looking directly into those chocolate eyes. "I-I love you, too, Michael..." The words left my lips, seeing the brightest grin appearing on his handsome face.
Despite all of the consequences that may happened between us, I couldn't keep my emotions hidden inside any longer. Yes, we were from completely two different time periods and universes, but nothing could have stopped me from falling in love with him.
And sometimes, love is worth taking chances of the risks they may hold.
"You've made me the happiest man on earth, Marilyn." He leaned into my lips, kissing me with full force.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, feeling myself being pulled back on my feet. Slowly, Mike's hands fell behind my thighs, lifting my legs around his torso and never breaking away from our heated moment. He continue to carried me into the bedroom next to the kitchen as our time together continued all through night.
