Orleans Part 2

Catching up

"So Jeanne D'Arc, dragons invading, gotta find a gold magical wish cup and fix this place. Got it." Said Sumireko, who took another sip of her soup. "Guess you've had your fair share of adventures too huh. In any case, I'm in! Sounds like a job fo the Secret Sealing Club!"

A slight smile appeared on Ritsuka's face. She hasn't changed.

Then a thought popped up. "Hey, Sumireko."

"Yuh huh?"

"After you moved, did you make any friends?"

Sumireko blinked. "No, of course not. Why would I make friends with anyone who doesn't interest me?"

That was a bad habit of Sumireko. Anything that didn't interest her, she would cut off all assassociation towards. However, if they did pick up her interest, she would try to get to know them at all cost, then ignore them after losing interest, though there were exceptions. This habit had led her to not having any friends over the years, though it had softened considerably.

"Come on Sumireko, you can't just always avoid everyone! What'll you do when you graduate?!"

"That's years from now, and besides, people would run away once they found out about my powers." Sumireko replied stubbornly.

"How many people do you think read One Piece? If anything I feel a lot of them would actually like you."

"Being popular is just not my thing Ritsuka tan~." She said, ignoring Ritsuka's disappointed look.

Her eyes suddenly brightened. "Oh yeah! I almost forgot! I found this weird ball." She took out a clear purple orb that looked to be made of glass.

The orb had magical energy, but it was rather faint.

"It's a little weird right? It looks a bit weak, but if you insert some mana into there, it's absolutely insane! It even brought me into another world!"

"Another what?" replied Ritsuka. She slurped on her own bowl of soup. "What are those, dragon balls or something?"

"Well, I did spread the rumor that they were like that in the other world...actually it's not really another world. I forgot, but it's kinda like that thing you told me about...the...uh...what wa-Ah! The reverse side of the world!" she exclaimed. "Yeah, it was like the reverse side of the world you told me about, in that it's still on earth. Heck there was an ancient japanese village there."

"That's impossible. The reverse side only allows phantasmals to exist there." replied Ritsuka.

Sumireko nodded. "Yeah... But get this: Youkai exist there! And a ton of them were able to beat me in a fight! And not only that, they still exist in the outside world! Tanuki still exist in the Island of Sado!"

Now this caught Ritsuka's attention. After all, she was much more knowledgeable in the field of the supernatural than Sumireko, so naturally, something unusual would pick up her attention.

Were youkai existing in the modern world strange? Yes, as they were manifestations of rumors given life, the same way a dragon as a phantasmal existence existed. That meant that they were not physical beings, and because of the current state of the world, where science could disprove these phenomena created by youkai, they should, no could not exist on this side. So how…?

*tap*

A tap on Ritsuka's shoulder interrupted her train of thought. She glanced back, and saw a hooded figure wearing a mask.

"Would you like more soup, master?"

"Sure. You should take a break from serving and eat some."

After receiving supplies, Emiya and Ritsuka had worked together to create a stove and pot in order to cook dinner. Not just dinner for the group but everyone in the fort. Because it was rather hard to get supplies at this time, and Chaldea happened to have a surplus, it was a good opportunity to help.

"So...she's also a servant. Why the mask? Also how'd you understand...whatever she said? I pretty sure that wasn't english." asked Sumireko.

Ritsuka Held her bracelet up. "Mental translator. Uses mental aid magecraft that converts any info inputted directly to their mind. Since it's not harmful and actually helps, even those with magic resistance can get it"

"Anyways, remember who was responsible for this situation?"

"Jeanne, right?"

"Yeah well…" Ritsuka paused. "Thats uh, her. But not really. But actually?"

"Eh?"

Several Hours Ago

"Trace, on."

A stone oven, stove and a massive steel pot began to be projected.

"Huh, history instead of swords. That would be useful." said Emiya, who was observing his daughter project the oven. He had projected all the utensils that would be used, as his Trace only allowed him to project "swords" or anything that would not be considered a modern construct. For example, he could project the sawblade of an electric saw, but not the electric saw itself. His daughter on the other hand could trace both the saw and the machine, though it would cost much more mana, and require a bit more time.

"Yeah, it's useful for when I forget my books for school. Ah, thanks aunt Artoria" she said while Artoria walked over with a pile of wood and tossed it into the furnace, which had just finished. After the battle, Ritsuka had summoned all the servants as well as supplies, so all the servants were currently helping out.

"No need. How is your friend?" she asked.

"Still sleeping. Surprisingly, her body is still doing well despite not eating for a week." said Ritsuka. "I'm...worried I guess? I mean, I've kept in contact with her, but it's a bit weird seeing her after so long..."

She tossed a red jewel into the furnace, where it burst into flames. "Mm, I'm sure she'll be fine. She's basically immortal at this point, so I doubt that could kill her."

"That's...a bit too harsh? I'm still human ya know?" said Sumireko, who was looking at Ritsuka with a depressed expression.

Ritsuka shrugged. "You jumped off of mount Fuji to show off how strong your psychic barrier was, even though I tried to stop you. When you got back up without a scratch, I decided that worrying takes too much energy."

She smirked. "Right, didn't you scream something like 'My body is cursed, only God may strike me down!' before you jumped? Chuunibyou hitting you like a truck back than I see."

Sumireko spit out her soup in shock. Coughing and pushing up her glasses, she yelled "Wait, how did you hear that?! I checked to make sure no one was there!"

Ritsuka looked away. "...shoulda checked your pocket. Anyway back to my story."

"That's a bit harsh toward your friend, isn't it?" said Artoria. She was beginning to feel worried about her niece's moral standing.

"She jumped off a mountain just to test her abilities, even though I told her not to. She'll be fine." Ritsuka responded.

"But I feel like you should be more worried about her." spoke a voice from behind her.

Ritsuka flinched. A woman in a cloak stood behind her. Dark blue eyes, blond hair and soft facial features gave the very picture of a beautiful maiden. Her eyes held a kindness that you would rarely see within a human, and the gentle smile she gave embedded a sense of reassurance to whoever gazed upon it. And then there was the...surprising resemblance to Artoria and Salter.

*Shing*

Rhongymniad pressed against the woman's throat. Artoria had gotten up and was glaring at the woman.

"I did not think you would be so foolish to approach if you knew that I could sense you. State your name...servant who somehow looks like me, or you may lose your life." said Artoria.

She raised her arms in surrender. "Um...I swear I don't mean any harm. I just didn't know that there were still servants that would help humans of their own volition, and I came to ask for help."

"What I am about to say might surprise you, and I swear I'm actually innocent, but my name is…Jeanne D'Arc and I need your help in taking down my...evil twin."

Ritsuka tilted her head. "Huh, not the weirdest thing I've heard in my life. Anyways, what class are you? Also why are you blond? Most pictures of the famous La Pucelle show her with brown hair. Also did anything weird happen to your body when you wer-"

"Ritsuka, calm down. Sorry, my niece gets riled up whenever a new heroic spirit pops up." said Artoria.

"...And I was under the impression that heroic spirits were not capable of having children." said Jeanne.

"They are not. Aside from that, you will have to ask her if you really need help." said Artoria, while pointing at Ritsuka.

"She-"

"Yes, she is our master. As much as I hate the fact that she has to risk her life, she's our last bet in bringing back the world."

She glanced at Ritsuka sadly, who in turn comforted her aunt by rubbing her head.

"We'll help. But in exchange...help us..." she looked at Artoria who in turn glanced at the giant pot that Emiya was making food in. "Uh...wait what? That...ok sure. Help us serve food."

"Sure…?"

Ritsuka did a small fist pump. "Right, welcome to the team! Wanna form a contract? Well, let me introduce everyone first! MASH! I JUST RECRUITED JEANNE D'ARC!"

Mash, who was helping gather firewood, looked at Ritsuka with a blank look while Cu, who was making wooden bowls using runes, burst into a fit of laughter.

"And then we introduced her to everyone, convinced everyone that this Jeanne and that Jeanne are completely different, and everyone was happy."

Sumireko blinked.

"That's it? They were convinced...just like that?" She asked. She snapped her fingers, causing a nearby bowl of soup to float over. Before she could take the first bite, Ritsuka snatched the plate from her grasp.

*Clang*

"That's your fifth bowl now. I know you haven't eaten much since you got into this mess, but just because your body seems fine doesn't mean it really is fine." She said.

"HAH!"

"But Mooom~"

"Shut it. You're older than me. And no, they weren't convinced just like that. We had given a crap ton of reasons to convince them, then show off a miracle courtesy of Martha, and then they were a bit convinced. She wears a mask because if someone else comes and sees her...we're screwed."

"By the way…"

*Boom*

"Gah!"

"Is that normal?" asked Sumireko, who was pointing at Emiya and Gareth sparring with each other.

Emiya deflected a lance thrust, and countered with a slash. Blocking the attack with her shield, she pushed forward again in a shield bash in an attempt to knock him off balance. Emiya spun, causing him to move to Gareth's side. Then, sticking his foot out, he tripped gareth, grabbed her neck, and slammed her onto the ground while simultaneously pressing Kanchou onto her neck.

"Eh, she's wanted to fight him since he beat her. Calls him 'Milord' for some reason."

"Mmf, huh." She said, slurping on her soup. "This is really good! The meat inside this is a bit tough but it's taste is exceptional! What is this?"

Ritsuka sighed and glanced at her empty hand, which had once been holding Sumireko's bowl. "It's wyvern bone soup. We used an old pressure cooker and with a bit of wind mage craft, I managed to reproduce a high altitude atmosphere around the darn pot. And can you not?"

Sumireko smirked. "You know me. But would you look at that! I have the honor of being one of the only humans born in the heisei era to eat wyvern meat!"

"Well, you're going to do a lot more than just eat wyvern meat from now on." said Tamamo from behind.

Sumireko yelped, dropping her bowl of soup before stopping it midair. She breathed a sigh of relief as the soup returned to the bowl.

"Awawawawa, that was close! Hey! Don't sneak up o-... well, that's weird." She said as she turned toward Tamamo. She rubbed her glasses, and looked closely at Tamamo's face.

"What's wrong? Do I look like someone you know?" she asked.

"Yeah...you look just like that fox that's this youkai named Yukari's shikigami. She had nine tails though." said Sumireko. Tamamo froze.

"Well, guess that's just a coincidence." said Sumireko.

"...say that name again?" said Tamamo.

"Yukari? Oh, she's a youkai that can...uh think they called manipulating boundaries?" said Sumireko.

"She's still alive?... No, that would make sense, given that it's her..." muttered Tamamo.

"What's wrong Tamamo?"

"Wait, Tamamo?! Like Tamamo no Mae?! Dang, she's as pretty as her legend says she is!" shouted Sumireko.

Tamamo winced.

"You don't have to shout, it hurts all four of my ears." she growled at Sumireko, before turning to Ritsuka and hugging her. "Nothing Goshijinsama 3! Don't worry, I might tell you later about this."

Ritsuka nuzzled the fox girl before she let go and pranced off. Sumireko wrapped her arm around Ritsuka's shoulder.

"Soooo...why's she so chummy with ya?"

"Hm? Oh, that's just how she acted when she popped out."

"Any other weird historical character's I should know about?"

"My aunt's here, and she's king Arthur." She pointed at Artoria. Sumireko pushed up her glasses while staring at the armored figure.

"Wow, those are some massive Bazooka's she's hiding. How did she even hide them? I'm gonna ask." she said, before flying off.

Ritsuka leaned back onto the wall of the castle. She opened her hand and traced a notebook. Flipping through it, she stopped at a certain page and traced a pen. She touched it's tip to the page and upon seeing what was written on the last page, she stopped and slightly smiled. Then she began to write.

Occultic Observation Journal entry number 131

Where to start? It's been a long time since I last wrote in this. It's been almost a year since the club disbanded and Sumireko moved. A lot of stuff happened. I got kidnapped. Humanity was burned into extinction. I summoned my other dad, my aunt, and got a kouhai. Then I time travelled to france. Still not sure how this will change history, but apparently has something to do with the development of ethics the end of the hundred years war would bring. And today, I met Sumireko again. What a coincidence, it's our club's anniversary.

Might post another chapter tomorrow.
