Chapter 12: We're The Justice League
Previously
The Atomic Skull was silence when Danny froze the rest of him, finally shutting him up.
"Finally, his voice was getting on my nerves..."Danny said as he regained visibility.
He then flew back to Supergirl, with the Atomic Skull's power amplifier still in his hands.
"I think this is what was what amplified the powers of the literal bonehead?..." He said as he presented the device to Supergirl.
Before Kara could thank him, her adopted cousin soon floated in between them, a serious look on his face.
"We'll take that..." Superman's voice said.
Danny turned around and saw him and the rest of the League. All of them were looking at him suspiciously. Danny also remembered that this guy was the one who knocked him out earlier and he took a step back, keeping his guard up.
"Who are you people?.."Danny asked.
"We're the Justice League..."Wonder Woman said with her arms crossed.
Present Time
After the Atomic Skull was defeated and handed over to the authorities and his "power sourse" was return to the rightful owners, the league's attention turn to their "guest".
Said guest felt nervous under the gaze of all these superheroes. He couldn't explain it but he could see that these people are strong and he felt like they didn't trust him.
"A bunch of tall, physically fit people who don't like me...just like high school..."He thought.
Kara noticed that he seemed nervous and sent him a gentle smile
"What's wrong?..."She asked.
"I don't think they like me..." Danny said while the alien girl sent him another easy going smile.
The ghost boy had to admit she had a pretty smile, showing off her pearly whites.
That made Danny blush a bit and calm down.
"Serious now, give into hormones later!... He thought.
He shook his head and addressed the matter.
"They just don't know you yet. Follow me..." Supergirl said with a gesture as she flew over.
"Is this really necessary?..." Danny asked.
"Trust me, it is..." Kara said they landed on the ground.
They turned to the group of older heroes, who still had suspicious expressions. Though only one was constantly suspicious. Not that anyone complained.
"Why does the guy dressed like some modern day Dracula make me feel like my skin is crawling?..." Danny thought.
He did his best to ignore that, for now at least.
These people, full grown adults, were all giving him serious looks and it was clear they wanted answers.
"Come with us... we have questions..." Superman said.
All the while, Danny listened, not wanting to make them more suspicious.
A little later
Danny had followed Kara and these people as they flew upward, save for Batman, who got a ride via Green Lantern making a disk-shaped construct for him to stand on, and The Flash, who followed with his superspeed.
They had taken him to a rooftop in order to get to the bottom of all of this.
Danny saw a guy dressed in all red, with a lightning bolt symbol on his chest. A man dressed in all green, as well as a rather attractive woman in what looked to be a star spangled swim suit, that caught Danny's attention for a moment. He also saw a man with a black cowl and cape who Danny could sense an uneasy vibe vibe and lastly, there was a very large, tall, ripped man in a blue and red costume and a cape.
The same one who punched him unconcious earlier.
"Her cousin..." He remembered.
Despite his C student status, he could already figure out why they're dressed like this.
Danny then turned to the heroes, who were expecting answers.
"We're away from prying eyes, now… let's talk..." Wonder Woman said.
"Yes, let's..." Superman added.
Danny nodded looking around at all the super people, who were all staring at him.
"So... I'm guessing I'm in a world where there's more than one superhero..." He whispered under his breath. It was comforting and confusing.
Now that he's surrounded by other heroes, he felt like he was being judged by pros. Surprisingly it seemed like high school, where everyone does that to you on a daily basis.
Only these people were judging him for whether or not to trust him.
It was bigger than just judging someone for not being "cool" or athletic, he was someone they never saw before.
And that made him feel like jumping out of his suit and running.
However, he had someone here amongst these superheroes who stood next to him, supporting him.
"Here goes everything..." The ghost boy thought nervously.
He took a breath, but coughed up because he breathed in too much. He was too nervous.
The first one to speak was the big guy in the cape.
"First of all, thank you for your help with Atomic Skull..." The guy in blue said, though his expression was still suspicious.
"Uh...no problem, Sir..."Danny said.
The guy in red, who had a less serious look on his face, took a step closer. He looked the friendliest, so it made Danny somewhat more comfortable.
"So kid, not that we're not grateful for your help but-..."He paused, before his fellow leaguers spoke next.
"Who are you?..." The woman continued.
"And where did you come from?..."The guy in green finished.
Danny was about to speak up, but froze up in fear of saying something stupid.
"Um...funny story., uh...maybe not "haha" funny but..."Danny stammered a bit.
Thankfully, Supergirl came to the rescue.
"Okay, so I guess that some introductions are in order..."Supergirl said.
"Danny Phantom, this is The Green Lantern, The Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman and lastly, my cousin Superman..."She said as she pointed to each league member.
"Everyone, meet Danny.."Supergirl said to the boy, who looked shy.
"Uh, hi..."He said.
All of them looked to him, still giving him judging looks.
"Who are you and what brings you here?..."Superman said in a serious tone.
Danny looked ready to jump, there was something about Superman that made him nervous.
"My name is Danny...Danny Phantom..."He said.
The leaguers gave the boy a skeptical look.
"Danny Phantom?..."Batman said in a deadpan tone.
"Yeah..."Danny said shyly.
The Flash raised an eyebrow and whispered to Wonder Woman and Green Lantern.
"Danny Phantom? Not the most creative name for a superhero, is it?" He asked but was ignored.
"We never heard of you..."GL said.
"There's... an apparent reason for that..." Danny said.
One he did not know how to word...yet.
"Okay... I can only hope they believe me... He thought as Wonder Woman spoke next.
"A young warrior with his abilities like yours. Unless, you are just starting out, you should be a bit more well known..."Wonder Woman said.
The other nodded in agreement as Batman continued to stare. It actually intimidated Danny a bit.
"Why is he scaring me?..."Danny thought.
Kara saw this and whispered to him.
"Don't take it personally, Batman is always like that..."She said.
"He must be the life of the party…" Danny muttered sarcastically.
"I heard that..." Batman said, making Danny flinch.
"Sorry..." Danny apologized.
Batman's expression did not change.
Danny cleared his throat after that, trying to move past what happened.
Green Lantern stood forward, wanting to get to the point.
"Why are you here, exactly?..."GL asked.
"That's sort of the problem, Sir .I am not totally sure how I got here in the first place..."Danny admitted.
"Where are you from?..." Batman asked.
"I am from Amity Park..."Danny explained.
"Never heard of it..." Flash said.
"Well, you wouldn't. It's not exactly a major-..."Danny was cut off as Batman pulled out a small handheld computer.
"I am cross referencing, according to my sources, there is no town or city in the United States by the name of Amity Park..."Batman said as he finished talking to whoever was on the other end.
Danny's eyes widened, realizing there may be truth to Kara's theory.
"Maybe not in this world..."Supergirl said.
"Excuse me?..."Superman said..."Are you saying that saying he's not of this world?..."He asked.
"Supergirl here thinks I am on the wrong Earth..."Danny said.
That got their attention now.
"I see..."Was all Batman said.
Danny raised a brow at that. Why didn't they sound surprised by that?
It's not like he said he made a wrong turn down the street or anything.
They seemed to have believed that rather quickly.
"You don't sound so surprised to hear that..."He said in a wary tone.
"This isn't the first time we have dealt with alternate dimensions..."The Flash said with a shrug..."On the bright side you ended up in a earth with the Justice League instead of the Justice Lords.."He said, ignoring the dirty looks his teammates sent him.
"The Justice WHO?..."He questioned.
Kara groaned.
"They don't wanna talk about it..."She said.
Danny decided not to say anything and asked a different question.
"So, then you guys are called the Justice League?..." The boy asked.
A few of the members nodded.
"At the least, we're 5 of the founding 7..." Superman said.
"I see..."Danny said.
"Founding members? Of what though?..."He thought.
Kara mentioned something earlier about a team. He spoke up what he figured was a dumb question.
"So, explain again exactly what is the Justice League?..."He asked in a truly clueless tone.
All of the heroes looked surprised by that.
"You're definitely on the wrong Earth..." Wonder Woman said.
Danny blinked for a moment as Supergirl held his shoulder as she smiled to him.
"We are a group of superheroes..."Kara explained.
"It's our duty to protect the world from any threats..." Wonder Woman explained.
"Like what you did earlier..."Flash said.
Danny just stood there, taking it in. This is his response.
"Cool..."He said.
Kara giggled at that reaction.
Flash shook his head with a grin as Green Lantern joined. Superman chuckled at the adolescence as Batman...still stared. Wonder Woman didn't comment as she studied the boy.
After a moment, she nodded to her teammates.
"We're gonna need a moment, Justice League business..." She said.
Danny was curious about that when Supergirl spoke up.
"Danny, can you give us a moment?..."Kara asked.
"Huh? Oh, sure..."Danny said.
He hovered away, far enough to not hear them but close enough so they could see him.
The girl of steel gave a small smile at the boy as she flew to the adults. Kara was soon wIth the older superheroes, as they decided to talk about the situation.
"Well?..." She asked.
"He could be faking the whole other Earth thing..." Wonder Woman suggested.
"I don't think so..." Batman said... "I've tried searching for his face on the internet..." He held up his small batcomputer.
"That's... kind of wrong..." Supergirl said.
"Wrong or not... his face doesn't appear anywhere on any records on Earth..." Batman said.
"He could be an alien..." GL suggested.
"The Guardians once mentioned a planet named Bgztl that disappeared eons ago. The people there reportedly had powers like that kid..."He added.
"I don't think so. . I can verify that he's human, at least partly..."Kara said.
"How?..." Superman asked.
"Let's just say I saw it without him knowing it..." Kara said.
"What's that supposed to mean?..." Green Lantern asked.
"Oh...nothing..." Kara replied innocently.
"Should we trust him?..."Superman asked.
"Truthfully, he doesn't seem wrong to me..." Wonder Woman said.
"Plus, he's just a kid..." Flash suggested.
"Well... you're not wrong. If he's really on the wrong Earth, we should help him..." Green Lantern said.
"There's a chance he's lying... but the look on his face was too genuine when he didn't know who we are..." Batman said.
"So, you think he's being honest?..." Wonder Woman asked.
"If he's lying, he believes himself more than anyone else..." Batman said.
"If he's telling the truth, then what?..." Superman asked.
The other leaguers stared at him funny for that.
"I think that should be obvious..." Batman said.
"Kal, we need to help him..." Kara said.
Superman looked unsure.
"Can't say the kid's bad..." Flash commented.
"He did assist us in bringing the Atomic Skull to Justice..."Wonder Woman said.
"He also saved me from the Lex Box, we can trust him, Kal-El..."Supergirl said.
Superman glanced to Batman. The caped crusader narrowed his eyes at Danny. Trust was never something Batman gave freely, or easily, and that was something the man of steel was considering right now.
"Even so, who is to say he's not like the Ulti-Men, and just thinks he knows the truth? This could be a last ditch effort from Cadmus for all we know." Superman suggested.
Part of him was still betrayed by how a former friend turned against him.
As such, he was still suspicious.
For all they know, this could be some Cadmus stunt or a scheme to get power by Luthor or who knows what.
Or from a former friend.
"Superman, if this is about Hami- I mean, him, you know he's been disgraced, he has no power or resources..." Wonder Woman assured.
"I know, but-..."
"Come on, you know Cadmus was shut down. Even the people with grudges know if they're caught, it's lifetime in prison..." Flash reminded him.
"He's right. Besides, we looked through all of what Cadmus was up to. Nothing they had planned for us even comes close to this kid..." Batman said.
Superman looked to Danny again.
Although still bothered by that betrayal, he knew he can't let himself give in to paranoia.
The world's strongest man heard this and sighed.
"Alright, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt..."He conceded.
Kara smiled upon hearing this.
"Thanks, Kal. You won't regret this..."She said.
Once that was done, she motioned for Danny to come join them. He arrived, noticing slightly friendlier looks from everyone but Batman.
Danny was unsure and a bit intimidated by the Dark Knight. He had a glare that made ghosts non-malevolent.
The ghost boy wasn't sure where to stand in response. His instincts made him wary but he had to get home.
So, he had to step up to the plate.
"So, what's the plan?..." Danny asked.
"For now, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are indeed on the wrong Earth..." Superman said.
"However, this means we'll be keeping an eye on you..." Batman said.
He still had that look that made Danny shudder.
"Glad he's just glaring...right?..." Danny thought.
Flash, ever the one for lightening the mood raced for attention. He had no jokes but did not want to make the ghost boy uncomfortable.
"So, what do we do with him? We can't leave him by himself, can we?.."The Flash asked.
"For now, I suggest we take him back to the Watchtower and take him to J'on. If he is telling the truth, then we will do what we can to send him back where he belongs..."Superman said.
Danny raised a brow at that, but since he has no other choice, nodded.
"Okay...where is this Watchtower?..."Danny asked.
Supergirl sent him an amused smile.
"You'll see... She said, showing off her smile again.
Danny blushed, which Clark noticed. Though it was hard not to see.
"What is happening here? Just what went on between Kara and this kid before we arrived?..."He thought suspiciously.
"I know that look, the look my aunt Iris gave me when I met my first girlfriend, Frances..." Flash jabbed Superman with his elbow.
The man of steel did not reply but made a note of the comment.
"Those two just met... there's no way they'd be interested in each other that fast..."He thought.
He chose to push that out of his mind in favor of what's going on now.
The group of superheroues soon left to take their "guest" to the one place in the world where they can talk in private, without having to worry about their enemies spying on them.
