Author's Note (Monster): Hi guys! Sorry for missing the weekly posts mark. I've been too busy to breathe. The AT chapter plan may shuffle around a bit because I realise I'm neglecting the infirmary a bit with this Danny POV all the time but I'm gonna fix it soon. Longer chapters are coming soon. Enjoy.
Previously on American Tragedy;
As Danny struggles to find his place, he finally meets the infamous Johnny 3 Tears but he's given the silent treatment. So far, the troublemakers seem to consist of an impermeable duo, a modified duo that liked to mess with the doctor and Da Kurlzz who resented Danny for his job
The needle touched the vinyl. Danny watched it carefully, wondering if it would play or not. The record player was ancient, an item that had been around for over a century. It was considered to be ancient back when this one was made as well. In the 1900's, they invented a record player and then in the 2000's, people were suddenly obsessed with integrating record players into speakers. Danny was lucky enough to find one in perfect state, which was a miracle because the thing was produced SEVENTY years ago!
No one used record players anymore. Or cd players. Hell, all music was digital now. The vinyl carefully started spinning and the speakers crackled to life. Danny breathed a sigh of relief. Good. His brother had once called his music taste "prehistoric", because Danny loved to listen to artists from the 1960's and 1970's. He'd once mentioned he loved music from the 60's to a date and she'd been excited they had the same music taste. Until she realised Danny's sixties weren't the 2060's. She'd thought her music had been 'ancient' for being twenty years old, but Danny's were 120 years old. Beat that. He smiled to himself. Saturday had never been more welcome, after this exhausting week. Danny had slept late, hadn't had his phone with him all morning. He'd just been sleeping and once he got up, he cooked himself lunch. He loved to cook, preferred to. It was something that always caused bumps in the road when he was in a relationship. He loved to cook but often, his partner did too and oh "just cook together", right? No, Danny would fucking chase them out of the kitchen with a hiss. He hated cooking together because he wanted to make things his way.
He shook his head at the idea. Lunch had been good, he was definitely full. Now he could enjoy his music, maybe check social media for a bit, check his emails from the 4C.
Why check the emails on a Saturday? Because Danny preferred to know what he was up against this week and if something had happened and one of the weekend wardens was trying to warn him, then he preferred to be prepared. He grabbed his phone and logged into the mail app for work, an app he'd throw off the device once he got his work phone.
Good thing he checked. He had an email.

Re: Subject 97, "Da Kurlzz"
Danny jumped when he noticed what the mail was about. He walked to the living room part of the house and sat down on the couch before he opened the message, nervously. He'd worked so hard on his arguments to bench Da Kurlzz. If Cain were to deny him the rest, Danny would… well, he had no idea how he'd respond but he would be pissed.
Dear doctor Murillo,
After thorough consideration and checking your sources – primary sources, I asked doctor Black and doctor Aquaines for their opinion on those experiments conducted years ago – your arguments for Subject 97's leave from experiments are valid reasons to be worried for his mental health.
Therefore I will allow Subject 97 to be inactive for 14 days. Thank you for your research and do not hesitate to contact me again if another test subject is showing concerning symptoms. Please communicate Subject 97's state with doctor Aquaines so he can adapt the experiments scheduled for this week.
Kind regards,
Cain.
Danny blinked at the screen. He got it.
He got it!
He got the 2 week leave! Danny sighed relieved and realised he'd been holding his breath while reading. He felt the need to do a victory dance but kept it in. He couldn't keep the smile off his face though. Man, Da Kurlzz would appreciate that effort and maybe it would improve his behaviour! Or at least, maybe he wouldn't threaten to eat Danny anymore. He shuddered at the thought and got up to open his laptop. He got logged into the 4C's server and searched for the work contact details of the employees.
He skimmed the mail addresses of doctors and phone numbers of wardens until he found the name he most likely needed; Charles Isaac Aquaines. He opened his mail account and typed up a new mail.
To: Charles Aquaines
Dear doctor Aquaines,
Doctor Cain has agreed to allow subject 97 (Da Kurlzz) a break from experiments for his mental health with a duration of two weeks. Please adapt the experiments schedule accordingly if any experiments were planned for Da Kurlzz.
Could you send me a copy of the experiments conducted on my patients?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Doctor Danny Murillo
Danny gave a satisfied nod to himself before he sent the mail and remained at his computer for a bit. He read over Cain's mail again to make sure he didn't misunderstand, but it was right there. Cain approved of his suggestion. Danny felt successful for once. After a series of horrid appointments, it was a welcome change to be able to help for once. Even if it was just a little bit of help.
Danny briefly considered asking Cain about the Book Technologies change but decided against it. It was none of his business why the 4C had changed their approach so much. Danny ran his internship in fucking 2075, of course things were bound to have changed! That was ten years ago! More or less. Danny shook off the feeling and noticed he vinyl had stopped playing.
He got op to have a look and noticed the needle was stuck. He sighed and manually reset it. He had to press the button three times before it placed the needle back onto the vinyl and the music started playing once more. Danny stopped to stare through the window into his garden. The weather was really nice outside. The summer sun was hitting his garden just right today. He deserved to celebrate his small victory by sitting outside with a drink. He opened the door and stepped out into the sunlight, still glowing from the small victory over his new job at the 4C.
Please review, they're my fuel! OC submissions are still open. I'm looking for test subjects, doctors, wardens and special forces.
OC's featured;
Breccan Cain by me (AwokenMonster)
Juan Black (mentioned) by kelkel12
Charles Isaac Aquaines (mentioned) by H.T.
If you wanna add an OC. Please provide the following;
name:
age (must be 18+):
gender:
Occupation:
- Test Subject: as a test subject, your OC committed an unspeakable crime that you may specify (optional), sentenced to death – or worse, test subject. Since the subject undergoes experiments on a daily basis, they may be disfigured, mutilated or modified to your choosing.
- doctor: There are 3 types of doctors needed in this story; infirmary (treats injured/modified subjects and inmates), test tinker (designs and carries out the experiments performed on the subjects) or psychiatry department (regularly evaluates the mental health of the subjects)
- warden: As a warden, your OC keeps an eye on everyone and everything. They are to keep the doctors safe when a doctor enters the cell, walks the hallway, the courtyard etc.
- special force: The special forces are the snipers surrounding the towers of the courtyard, the heavily armed people to break apart riots and separate fights between inmates, subjects or both.
- inmate: inmates are the preys of test subjects. The Subjects envy their potential freedom once they get out since the Subjects are sentenced for a lifetime. Subjects give the inmates HELL.

Thanks again for all the OC's currently present in this story (29! Okay fine, 4 of them are mine)
