Chapter 13: Reunited

Bella's plan was very simple.

Dangerous. But, there really wasn't anything else that could be done.

Bella was pregnant.

And her plan was to simply become a mother.

Unfortunately, we all knew how hard that would be.

She said Edward was against it.

And Rosalie and i knew the rest would go along with him.

Bella was right in calling Rosalie. She is the only one that would understand. The one that made me understand it too.

"It's just a baby." She whispered in my ear. Afraid anyone else in the house would hear our conversation.

"We don't know what it is." I try to reason with her.

"What else could it be?"

"I don't know." I said, frustrated now.

"Cassidy, what other choice do we have? It's what Bella wants."

"I know."

"She will only have us."

"I know."

"You're in, then?"

"Obviously. She's my best friend. I will always support her.

"Good. She will need that that support now more than ever."

That phone call was hours ago.

Bella and Edward would be home any minute now. The whole family went to Seattle to pick them up from the airport. Rosalie sended me a text an hour ago saying Bella was safe with her, and they would be home soon.

A part of me was dreading the encounter.

I remember very vividly how i reacted the last time i was face to face with a human being.

And the memory alone give me the chills.

Even though everyone thinks i am finally ready, there is still a part of me that is scared of hurting my friend.

I feel their presence before i can hear them approach. Three cars coming into my direction, i could her the noise of the wheels now. Soon the first car came into my view, Rosalie driving and Bella on passangers seat.

Right behind them, Carlisle with Edward and Esme.

And last Jasper with Alice and Emmett.

The plan was working so far. Rosalie took Bella with her safely.

Part 2 will start now. I don't need my sixth sense to know it will be difficult. I could see the anger in Edward's face from where i was standing in front of the house.

Rosalie parks her car and immediately goes the other side to help Bella get out.

As soon as Bella's feet touch the ground, her scent hits my nose like a punch to gut.

Sweet.

I hold my breath instantly. Holding myself frozen on spot.

God, how does Edward live like this?

When our eyes connect she moves forward to hug me, but i step back. Afraid.

She stops. Understanding.

"Cass?" Her eyes big and calculating.

"Hi KlutzBella."

She moves then, unceremoniously, and wraps both her arms around me in a tender hug.

"Oh, Cass. I've missed you so much." Her voice full love and longing.

It warms my cold heart to hear it.

I'm still refusing to breathe when i answer. "You have no idea how much i want to hug you right now. But, please, let's not take that risk."

"What's going on here?" Edward's furious voice break the mood and Bella recoils from me almost instantly.

In a second Rosalie is standing on Bella's other side. A snarl on her pretty face.

"Edward...I...i..." Bella stutters, visibly shaken.

The rest of the family join us now. All by Edward's side. A worried look on their faces.

"Bella, am waiting for an explanation." He grits out, fist bailed and a scowl on his face.

"Edward..."

Come on Bella man up.

She takes a deep breath then, and closes her eyes briefly before of answering . "Edward, i am having this baby."

The look on his face would be priceless if it wasn't such a delicate moment.

"What? Bella you don't even know what that is." I wince when i remember that i had said the same words to Rosalie a few hours back.

Bella is ready to cry in that moment, but she holds herself with a strength that is very admirable to look at.

"I don't care what you think. There is nothing that you can do to make me give up on this." Her hand goes instinctively to her abdomen.

I feel a tremendous amount of pride in that moment. I've never seen Bella so certain of something that Edward was against of.

A part of me is glad that my friend is not completely submissive to him.

She still has a voice of her on.

I will do everything that i can to help her get heard.

"It's not your choice." I say, my eyes find Edward's and i can see the sense of betrayal in them. But there wasn't a way to sugar coat things to Edward, in that moment, Bella was my priority.

Carlisle intervenes then, probably feeling the tension coming from all of us. "Bella, will you please let me examine you before of making such an important decision."

Everyone looks at Bella, waiting for an answer. The determination in her eyes could be seen by all.

"The decision has been made." She answers, voice hard and full of certainty.

I've never been so proud of her before.

"But what if this situation has an negative effect on your body?" He asked, full doctor mode.

"You can call it what it is, Carlisle." Rosalie speaks for the first time. " It's a pregnancy not a situation."

"I should have known you would get involved in this, Rosalie." Edward snarl into her direction. He was more than just angry now, he was in despair.

"Bella asked for my help. I will do anything i can to do so."

"And what if it cost her life?" He yells. Eyes crazed and sorrowful.

The hurt could be heard in his voice. And i understand his pain completely. I did not want to lose my friend either. But there is somethings in life that can't simply be your choice.

Her voice was so quiet when she answered. "I've never been afraid of dying."

"You can't take this so lightly. You're not thinking straight."

The was nothing but sureness in her voice this time. "You're wrong, Edward. I've never been more certain in my life."

And just like that, Bella Swan finally cut the imaginary umbilical cord that attached her to Edward.

And by the look on his face, i would say, it hurt like a bitch.
