Blaine sat up with a smile on his face. Today was the day. Today was Kurt's birthday. Blaine had so many things he needed to get done today. He needed to go by to see Garyn and pick up the suits he was fixing for Kurt. He needed to finish getting everything for the party together, work with the Warblers on what they will be performing, and then get with Jamison, who would now be Kurt and his bodyguard. Blaine wanted to make sure that anytime Kurt was off-campus, especially when they weren't together, that someone was with him at all times so that Kurt was never left unprotected. He also needed to make sure Jamison knew not to let Kurt see him until Blaine had time to explain everything. For now, however, his number one priority was Kurt himself.

Blaine looked at the clock and realized Kurt's alarm would be going off soon, so he leaned over and turned it off. He had other plans for waking Kurt up, he thought, his smile growing bigger. Blaine leaned down and started to place little soft kisses over Kurt's face, over to his ear, before sucking gently on his lobe.

"Happy Birthday, beautiful," Blaine said when he saw a smile on Kurt's face. Blaine slowly kissed back across Kurt's face, back to his lips, gently rubbing them with his own, before deepening the kiss, slowly lowering his hand, his index finger drawing a straight line down from Kurt's chest to his ever-growing erection.

"Thank you," Kurt gasped out, bucking his hips up as Blaine's hand grasped his cock, and slowly started moving up and down.

"I have a few plans for you today," Blaine said, kissing his way down Kurt's chest.

"You do…" Kurt managed to gasp as Blaine's hand slowly moved up and down, and his tongue circled first his left nipple and then his right.

"Yes, I do," Blaine said, raising his head long enough that he could answer and give Kurt a smoldering look.

"Ooo-oook," Kurt managed to whisper out, throwing his head back. Blaine had managed to kiss his way down Kurt's chest and had taken Kurt's swollen cock in his mouth.

Blaine smiled, hearing the sounds Kurt was making before he hollowed his cheeks and started slowly moving his mouth down Kurt's cock and then back up. As Kurt bucked his hips, Blaine moved faster up and down, swallowing every inch. This had become one of Blaine's favorite things to do. He loved taking care of Kurt, taking him right to the edge, and then watching as he slowly fell apart. When Kurt's hips started moving faster, Blaine knew he was close. Blaine moved his finger up and down Kurt's cock, following his mouth until his finger was wet, moving it down the crack of Kurt's ass before gently inserting it into Kurt's tight hole.

"Oh shit," Kurt screamed out as he came down Blaine's throat. Kurt loved the feel of Blaine's finger inside of him, the sensation of being touched there had been enough to tip him over the edge. Blaine had never done that before, but he knew it wouldn't be the last time he did. Kurt could do nothing but smile a very satisfied smile at the thought. Before he had time to register that Blaine had moved, he was in front of Kurt, kissing him.

"Can I taste you, beautiful?" Blaine whispered as he slowly kissed his way across Kurt's jaw and down his neck.

"Yes," was all Kurt could whisper out, turning his head to give Blaine easier access.

Blaine licked over his favorite spot and Kurt's neck, slowly letting his fangs descend before allowing them to break the tender skin on Kurt's neck. Blaine was in heaven. He loved the taste of pure Kurt. He would have been happy just to be able to taste him, but he almost lost suction on Kurt's neck when he felt Kurt's hand encircle his very swollen cock. Today had been all about Kurt. Blaine figured he could take care of himself when he took his shower, but to feel his beautiful Kurt's hand on him, slowly stroking up and down, had Blaine sucking harder, allowing his fangs to bite a little deeper. This was a new experience. Kurt had pleasured Blaine before, but never while he was feeding. Blaine came unglued. He started thrusting his cock into Kurt's hand and came harder than he ever had.

"Shit Kurt," was the only thing Blaine could say after removing his mouth from Kurt's neck, almost forgetting to lick over the bite to seal it.

"You liked that?" Kurt asked, almost shyly.

"If you have any doubts, look in the mirror. Don't blame me though when you do," Blaine said with a laugh before gently kissing Kurt's lips

"Blaine, can I ask you a question?" Kurt asked, wiping his hand off on the bedsheet. There was something he had always wondered, but just now took the time to ask.

"Kurt, you can ask me anything, always," Blaine said, sitting up straight so that he could look at Kurt.

"Why do you always ask for my permission to feed? I have, and will, always say yes," Kurt asked, sitting up with Blaine's help.

"I ask Kurt because even though I consider you mine, and I'm 100% your's, this is your body, you have the right to say yes or no. With everything else we do, with your actions, you give me permission. If you ever said no, I would stop. When I feed from you, I feel I need to ask," Blaine explained. He didn't know if other vampires treated their chosen the same way, but this was something Blaine felt strongly about. "When I feed from you Kurt, you are sharing with me your life's essence. For that, I feel I need to ask."

Kurt finally understood, and he fell just a little more in love with his handsome vampire. Kurt leaned forward and placed a kiss on Blaine's lips. "Take this as my permission always. You never have to ask. What you need, I will always freely give."

"I love you so much," Blaine said, placing his hands on either side of Kurt's face and leaned in and placed the softest of kisses on Kurt's sweet lips.

"I love you, too," Kurt said, returning the kiss.

"Although I would love to stay right here in bed with you all day, I have a few things planned for you before you head home. If you want, you can go and take your shower, and then we can get this started," Blaine said, almost bouncing on the bed, so excited to show Kurt part of his birthday surprise. The rest would have to wait for tomorrow.

"What do you have planned?" Kurt asked, excited. He had wondered what Blaine was going to do for him for his birthday.

"If I told you that, silly, it wouldn't be a surprise. Now get your cute ass out of bed, get in the shower so we can go," Blaine said, laughing at the look on Kurt's face.

"You're no fun. You know that, right?" Kurt said with a pout.

"You didn't think that a few minutes ago, did you, sweetheart? Now get up," Blaine said, laughing while placing a kiss on Kurt's cheek and then standing up. "Well, I guess if you're not interested…"

"Hey now, I never said I wasn't interested. Now, come here and help me stand up," Kurt said, reaching out his hand to Blaine.

"Man, aren't you a bossy little thing this morning. I think I like it," Blaine growled in Kurt's ear, pulling Kurt to him once he helped him stand up.

"Who was the one who was all about me getting in the shower?" Kurt said, laughing.

"Oh, you're going to get in the shower. I'm just going to help you get undressed," Blaine said.

"Blaine, I don't have anything on, just like you don't. You took it all off last night when we went to bed and wouldn't let me put anything back on," Kurt said, blushing a little, thinking about everything they had done the night before.

When Kurt had woken up from his nap the day before, he found Blaine snuggled up behind him. Blaine had told him everything that had happened with Sebastian and what was learned from Zandra. Blaine had told him there was more that they needed to talk about, but he didn't want to go into it now. He wanted to let Kurt enjoy his birthday, promising to tell him everything later.

"I seem to remember you putting your sling back on before going to bed. That needs to come off. We wouldn't want that to get wet, now would we?" Blaine asked, slowly moving forward, forcing Kurt to walk backward until he felt his back even with the wall.

"Umm no," was all Kurt could whisper, getting aroused again by the way Blaine was acting.

"You see, I didn't think so either," Blaine growled out before attacking Kurt's lips and jutting his hips forward at the same time. Blaine slid his hands between Kurt's ass and the wall, pulling his hips closer before he started grinding his erection against Kurt's and not stopping until he felt Kurt's warm cum between them, and then Blaine saw stars. Every time with Kurt just kept getting better.

"Wow," was all Blaine could say for a minute, gently kissing Kurt's lips that were so swollen they looked like he had been stung by a bee.

"Wow, for real," Kurt said with a satisfied smile on his face. If Blaine wasn't holding him, Kurt felt like he would fall. His legs no longer wanted to support him.

Blaine held him for a few minutes, happy to have Kurt in his arms, knowing he would miss him tonight when Kurt went home. Blaine didn't like the idea of not having Kurt sleeping beside him, of Kurt being so very far away, but knew for now that is how it had to be.

"Ok, sweetheart, I'm going to let you go while I still can. I wish you could just stay here with me, but I know I have to share you with your family. Go ahead and get in the shower, and I'll be here when you get out," Blaine said, kissing Kurt on his cheek one more time and helping him slip the sling off of his arm. Blaine plans on checking with Dr. Martin either today after Kurt leaves or tomorrow at the party to see how much longer Kurt would need to stay in the long cast.

Once Blaine heard the shower turn on, he figured he had about twenty minutes before Kurt got out. He quickly threw on a pair of shorts, a T-shirt and ran to his apartment in the family section. He turned the oven on to heat up and ran for a quick shower. Blaine had enough time to get Kurt's breakfast in the oven and get back to his dorm room, just as Kurt turned the shower off. Blaine sat on the side of the bed, waiting for Kurt to walk out, so he could help him dress.

"How did you take a shower already when I was in it?" Kurt asked, confused, seeing Blaine's still wet hair, and he had on a clean set of clothes.

"Finish getting ready, and I'll be happy to show you," Blaine said, walking up to Kurt, placing a soft kiss on his cheek. He was afraid if he did more than that, they wouldn't make it out of this room. Seeing Kurt's body with nothing on but a towel around his waist was doing things to Blaine, things they didn't have time for right now.

Kurt walked up to the dresser and pulled open one of the drawers Blaine had cleaned out for him to use. He took out a pair of jeans, a T-shirt, and a clean pair of boxer briefs, so ready to have the cast removed so he could start wearing his own clothes again, even if that meant he had to put his Dalton uniform on again.

Blaine helped Kurt dress and then sat back down on the edge of the bed, waiting until Kurt finished fixing his hair. Once Kurt walked out of the bathroom, Blaine gently took his hand and led him towards the family section of Alexander Hall.

"Where are we going?" Kurt asked, now confused. Why was Blaine taking him to Nick and Jeff's?

"Come on, and I'll show you," Blaine said and smiled as every person they pass stopped them to wish Kurt a happy birthday. When they got to Blaine's apartment, he opened the door for Kurt and then followed him in.

"What's this?" Kurt asked, looking around and falling in love with the space, hoping when he and Blaine become a mated couple they could have a place like this.

"This will one day be our home," Blaine said, hoping that Kurt would like it.

"Blaine, are you serious? This is ours?" Kurt asked in disbelief, looking around, falling more in love with it now that he knew it would be theirs.

"Yes, I'm serious. When dad made me the head of the Ohio coven, I came and picked out my future home. Come on, and I'll give you a tour. If there's anything you don't like, we can change it," Blaine said with a smile. Seeing the look on Kurt's face, he could tell he liked it.

"This will be our room," Blaine said, opening the door and letting Kurt walk in. "It has an en-suite bathroom, just like our dorm room, but it is a lot bigger," Blaine said, showing the bathroom, the shower glass still wet from Blaine's shower.

Walking down the hall, Blaine opened the next door. "I know we've never really talked about whether or not you wanted children, but if you do, I always thought this would make a perfect nursery since it is close to our room," Blaine said before shutting up, realizing he was babbling, only now realizing they had never talked about children. Blaine had always seen himself as a father. He had always wanted a little boy and a little girl, but would be happy with either as long as they were healthy.

"This would be perfect. I love the neutral color, but we could always repaint it depending on if we had a boy or girl," Kurt said with a dreamy smile on his face. He could almost see the room set up for their child.

"So… you do want to have children with me someday, then?" Blaine asked, unable to keep the smile off of his face.

"Of course I do. But I don't want only to have one, though. I grew up without a sibling, and I wouldn't want to do that to my child. Can you imagine if we had a little girl with your curls?" Kurt asked. He walked up to Blaine, slipping his arm around Blaine's waist, snuggling into his side, happier than he had been in a long time.

"That is how I felt about children, too. I have a brother, but Cooper was so much older than me. By the time I got old enough to play with him, Cooper was moving out. Myself personally, I was thinking about a little girl with your beautiful blue eyes," Blaine said, pulling Kurt just a little closer, so happy that they felt the same way as far as children are concerned.

"Wouldn't any child we have need to have your blood?" Kurt asked. He had always assumed that because of who Blaine was, any child they had would need to be Blaine's biologically.

"No. Any child we have will be yours and mine. It doesn't matter who the father is biologically at all. My Uncle Jack, who is over the UK covens, adopted his son Alex shortly after he was born. Uncle Jack and Aunt Doria were unable to have children. They tried for ten years and were never lucky enough to have one, so they adopted Alex, who will one day take over the family's UK covens," Blaine explained.

"I just always assumed they would need to be yours," Kurt responded.

"Any children we have, Kurt, will be ours. Yours and mine no matter who the actual father is. Now then, on to the next room," Blaine said with a smile, reaching for Kurt's hand and guiding him down to the hall. "This room, I figured we could set up for now as a spare bedroom and office. Later we can always change it to another kid's room," Blaine said, standing back so Kurt could walk in and look around.

"Oh, this is perfect Blaine," Kurt said, his smile getting bigger. He could see in his head how he would eventually have the room decorated. "And I can change anything I want?"

"Yes. I left it blank because I wanted to share the decorating with my mate. I wanted this to be our home, not just a place where I made all the decisions. I was hoping you would be interested in going shopping with me when it was time for us to move in here. We can pick out all the furniture together. I did the master bedroom like my dorm room because I have always felt so at home there. I wanted the same feeling here. If you don't like it though, we can always redo it," Blaine answered. He was hoping that was the only room Kurt wouldn't want to change.

"No, that is one room I will not be touching other than moving your furniture in. I love the way your room is set up in the dorm. The only thing I will do in there is add some knick-knacks and maybe some pillows. Other than that, it is perfect. What is that smell?" Kurt said, having just gotten a whiff of something that smelled wonderful.

"Ahhh, on to the last room I need to show you other than the guest bathroom, which we can look at later," Blaine said with a grin, reaching out, retaking Kurt's hand and guiding him to the kitchen.

Kurt looked around the kitchen in disbelief. If he could have designed his dream kitchen, this is what he would have chosen. It was almost like this kitchen had been designed just for him. There were stainless steel appliances, beautiful cherry wood cabinets with hardwood floors just a tad bit lighter, but what really had Kurt excited about the kitchen was that it had a huge kitchen island right in the middle of the room. Kurt could almost see himself baking in this room, all the counter space he would have.

"Can I ask a dumb question? Why would a vampire have a kitchen in their apartment? Nick and Jeff don't have one," Kurt said, turning around to look at Blaine.

Blaine could only laugh. "You wouldn't believe how many shocked looks I got when I had it put in. This was originally another bedroom. I'm not sure why, but I knew it needed a kitchen when I picked this apartment, and I knew exactly how I wanted it to look. I guess, even though I didn't know it at the time, I was having it installed for you. Even though I had yet to meet you, I just knew this room would be needed. I know that sounds crazy, but…"

"No, it doesn't. What's crazy is that if you had reached into my brain and seen what I would have one day wanted for my kitchen, this would have been it. This is amazing. Why is this the only room with furniture in it?" Kurt asked, only then noticing the small kitchen table.

"Well, the table was a last-minute decision. I wanted to make you breakfast for your birthday, and I figured we would need to have somewhere to sit. I almost bought some bar stools to put with the island, but that is something I wanted you to be there with me to pick up. I ordered this for today. We can either keep it or replace it if you don't like it," Blaine said, now wondering if he had made the wrong decision.

"No, Blaine, once again, it's perfect," Kurt said, unable to keep the smile off of his face as he saw the table cloth Blaine had spread across the table. There was a vase with a dozen red roses sitting in the middle with a tapered candle on either side. "This china is beautiful," Kurt said in aww, picking up one of the plates that had been placed on the table. He recognized it as one of the patterns he had been drooling over last week.

"I'm glad you like them, that is one of my presents for you. I saw them in the magazine you were looking at last week. I noticed how long you looked at them and thought you must like them," Blaine said, now feeling nervous. What if Kurt thought they were a crappy gift for his birthday, something for 'their' apartment, not necessarily for Kurt himself?

"They're perfect," Kurt said, walking up to Blaine and wrapping his arm around him in a hug. "Thank you. That magazine is kind of my wish book. I never thought I would own something like that."

Blaine could do nothing but smile, so happy that Kurt had liked the china. "I'm glad you like it, and you are more than welcome. And Kurt, just so you know, you can have anything in that magazine or any other magazine you want. Now then, why don't you sit down, and I'll get your breakfast," Blaine said just as the timer he had set went off.

Blaine stopped long enough to pull the chair out for Kurt, watching as he sat down, before walking over to the stove, putting on some oven mitts, and then pulled out the breakfast casserole he had put together last night while Kurt was asleep. He had read in the directions it did better if allowed to sit overnight in the refrigerator. So that is what he did.

Blaine carried the casserole dish over to the table, placing it on the trivet he had already sitting there, walked over to the fridge to pull out the orange juice he had freshly squeezed the night before carrying it to the table, and then making one more trip to get the coffee before sitting down at the table. Blaine filled a plate for Kurt and poured him a glass of orange juice and a cup of coffee, handing it to Kurt before making himself a plate.

"Blaine, this tastes amazing. Can you ask whoever made it to give you the recipe? I can see myself making this for dad and Carole for breakfast on the weekends," Kurt said before placing another bite of food in his mouth, chewing slowly.

"I made it," Blaine said, clearing his throat and finding it hard to keep the smile off of his face that Kurt liked it enough to want the recipe.

"Blaine, you said you don't cook," Kurt said, turning his head sideways, looking at Blaine in confusion.

"I don't," Blaine said, laughing. "This is the first time this kitchen has ever been used. I wanted to make you something for your birthday, and I found the simplest recipe I could and put it together when you were asleep last night. While you were in the shower this morning, I came here to bake it so it would be ready when we were. I knew I didn't have you for long today, so I didn't want to waste the time we did have cooking. This recipe was perfect. It does better when you allow it to sit in the refrigerator overnight."

"Well, you did perfect," Kurt said and meaning it. To think that Blaine had taken time just to make this meal for him meant more to Kurt than Blaine would ever know. "Also, I still want the recipe."

"I'll email it to you after you leave. Now then, finish up. I have a few more things for you," Blaine said with a soft smile looking at Kurt, laughing as he saw Kurt start to eat faster.

When they finished breakfast, Blaine took their plates and juice glasses to the sink to wash later, refilled their coffee cups before taking the pot back over to the coffee maker, and left it on the warm setting if they wanted more later.

"I'll be right back," Blaine said, leaning over to place a kiss on Kurt's cheek before walking towards the closet in what would be their bedroom. Blaine had hidden Kurt's presents there, so there was no chance of him finding them.

"Ok," Blaine said, walking back in the kitchen carrying three wrapped packages and one envelope, placing the envelope in front of Kurt first. "This is from my parents."

Kurt looked up as Blaine sat the envelope in front of him. He hadn't expected anything from Blaine's family. "Your parents?" Kurt whispered.

"Yes, sweetheart, my parents. You are part of their family now," Blaine explained.

"Do you know what this is?" Kurt whispered in shock, looking up at Blaine after opening the envelope.

"I do," Blaine said with a smile. His parents had called to ask his opinion.

"Blaine, your parents, got me tickets to Paris and a voucher for a two-week stay at Hôtel Ritz Paris. This is crazy and way too much money for them to spend on just your boyfriend," Kurt whispered, shaking his head.

"Kurt, when are you going to realize you're not my 'just' anything. You are my chosen, the love of my life, my person, and hopefully, before long, my mate. Kurt, you are my world, and my parents understand this," Blaine said, surprised that Kurt didn't understand his importance in Blaine's life.

"Thank you," Kurt whispered, looking at Blaine. Kurt knew how he felt about Blaine but often disbelieved Blaine's feelings for him, even though Blaine showed him in every way possible what he meant to him.

"You have nothing to thank me for, Kurt," Blaine said before passing Kurt the largest of the wrapped packages. "This is from Cooper, Mara, and Evie."

Kurt opened the present, and his jaw dropped. "Blaine, this is one of this season's Marc Jacobs coats. Holy crap! I've never owned a this season's anything. Blaine, this is Marc Jacobs," Kurt said again, almost screaming.

"I know, sweetheart," Blaine said with a laugh, loving the excitement he saw on Kurt's face. "Ok, this is from me."

Kurt was nervous at first. The wrapped present was the size of a jewelers box, and his mind went somewhere he wasn't sure he was ready to go yet. Kurt looked at Blaine for a moment before slowly unwrapping the present and opening the box. What he found took his breath away. Nestled on top of a velvet-covered cushion was a diamond-encrusted penguin broach. The little penguin had a sapphire for its eye and was the most beautiful thing Kurt had ever seen in his life. With tears rolling down his cheeks, Kurt jumped up, ran over to Blaine, and threw his right arm around Blaine's neck, holding on tight.

Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt's waist, pulling him down, so he was sitting on Blaine's lap. "Back when I was young, I read that penguins mated for life. I loved that story because I knew that was how I would be, that once I found my person, I would never want another. It wasn't until later that I found that the penguin story isn't necessarily true, but I still liked to think it is. This is my promise to you, as long as you live, you will be the only person I will love, the only person I will ever need. This little penguin is my promise."

"Blaine, I love it, but it's too…"

"Kurt, don't you dare say it's too expensive. What's mine is yours always," Blaine whispered, leaning in to place a soft kiss on Kurt's lips before hugging him a little tighter. Blaine couldn't pretend to himself that he hadn't seen the look in Kurt's eye when he had passed him the box. Kurt had assumed it was an engagement ring, and for a split second, Blaine had seen what looked to him like fear. Now he was nervous about the plans he was making. Blaine had assumed that Kurt felt the same way he did, that Kurt wanted to be mated with Blaine forever. What if he had misread Kurt? Would Blaine be able to handle it if Kurt asked for more time when Blaine asked or just said no?

This was one of the times that Blaine hated the unspoken rule as far as human chosen were concerned. Vampires were brought up knowing about the mating ceremony, its importance, and what happened should they say no, or ask for more time. Blaine can remember clearly when Traiah had asked Zach. It didn't matter that he said no because he wanted to ask Traiah himself. He had wanted to be the one to propose. Once no was said, however, that was the end. She will have to sit back and watch as Zach grows old and eventually dies before coming to Blaine to request sanctuary. Blaine didn't know if he could handle Kurt aging in front of him and then losing him. Blaine knew he would stay by Kurt's side until the end and then go to his father with a request of his own.

Taking a deep breath, Blaine passed Kurt the last of the presents he had for him. Watching as Kurt slowly opened it, thoughts still swirling around his head of their future.

"Blaine, you didn't," Kurt whispered in shock. Inside the box was the new Apple iPhone that he had been drooling over for weeks. Somehow Blaine had even managed to get him the rose-colored one he had wanted but couldn't find anywhere.

"The person I got it from said all you would need to do would be to change out the SIM card, and it should work with your current plan."

"How? How did you get this? I have looked everywhere, and it is sold out, no matter where I tried," Kurt said, picking the phone up and turning it on.

"I know someone who works for Apple," Blaine said with a smile, watching as Kurt took the SIM card out of his old phone and put it in his new. Luckily he had thought to charge it before wrapping it.

"I love it," Kurt said with a smile, leaning over to place a kiss on Blaine's cheek. "I love everything. Thank you for everything. Breakfast, my china, my pin and this, but Blaine, you spent too much."

"Kurt, what did I say? I could never give you enough. Now then, I have one more surprise for you," Blaine said, helping Kurt slide off of his lap and stand up.

"We're on our way out guys," Blaine told his coven, warning them that Kurt was on his way.

"We're ready, bring him on," Nick answered.

Blaine took Kurt's hand and guided him back to the public area of Alexander Hall, just as all his coven yelled, "Happy Birthday." During the time Blaine had been showing Kurt the apartment and eating breakfast, Nick, Jeff, Wes, Sasha, and the other Warblers had hung streamers from one side of the room to the other. Balloons had been placed in every spot available, and a table had been set up that was loaded with cake, ice cream, and more gifts for Kurt. Nick walked up to Kurt, took his hand out of Blaine's, and guided him over to the table, just as Jeff turned on the music.

Blaine stood back, hands in his front pockets, as his coven surrounded Kurt. Blaine couldn't keep the soft smile off of his face watching. Kurt was loved, and not just by him. Kurt had become a part of his coven, his extended family, and fit in so perfectly. Blaine, however, was having major doubts now. Doubts he hadn't had before this morning, before seeing a look on Kurt's face.

"Would you like to talk about it?" Jeff asked, walking up to Blaine.

"Talk about what?" Blaine answered back, taking his eyes off Kurt just long enough to shoot a look at Jeff before turning his attention back to Kurt, who was now happily opening presents he had been given.

"Whatever it is that's got you down. When I saw you this morning, you were almost bouncing like you were standing on a live wire, and now, it's almost like you lost your best friend. You know you can talk to me, Blaine. I'm probably one of the few people who would understand," Jeff said, watching Blaine watch Kurt.

"When you were getting ready for your mating ceremony with Nick, did you ever doubt? Did you worry that you would end up like Zach and Traiah?" Blaine asked Jeff, feeling more nervous now that he had voiced his concerns.

"No, to be honest, I had no doubts. I was probably stupid or stuck in my own little bubble, but I never doubted for a second that Nick would say yes. It wasn't until recently that I realized how very close I almost came," Jeff answered, feeling his whole body shake at the mere thought.

"What did you find out and how?" Blaine asked, hopefully.

"Remember, when Nick and I were first getting together, when we were getting serious about each other, Zach and Traiah were still here. They were still an active part of our coven. Zach went to Nick and talked to him. He told Nick about what happened between him and Traiah, and because of a stupid rule he knew nothing about, their lives would never be able to move forward. Where they were was where they would stay. He wanted Nick to know so that when the time came, he would be ready and wouldn't make the same mistake," Jeff said, now looking at Nick, still reeling from the thought of how close he had come.

"I wish Zach was still here," Blaine said, shaking his head.

"Would you have been mad at Zach if you found out that he had told Kurt?" Jeff questioned, realizing he had a way of soothing his friend's frazzled nerves.

"No, not at all. I would be glad, especially after this morning. I wish Zach was still here to talk to Kurt. I wanted to so badly, but…" Blaine said with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Well, what would you say if I told you someone did talk to him?" Jeff asked, taking his attention off of Nick and facing Blaine.

"I guess it would depend on who talked to him and what was said," Blaine said, now all his attention on Jeff.

"The night you went to New York, when you started planning your mating ceremony, Nick came to me. He was very afraid for Kurt, someone who had become like a brother to him. Nick told me that Kurt needed to know what it all meant, explain everything to him. At first, I said no. I was only seeing the vampire side of things. We are brought up knowing the ends and outs. How to ask for more time for a human in an engagement was perfectly ok, but it pretty much signals an end in our world."

"Because of a stupid unspoken rule he knew nothing about, Zach had ended their relationship without even knowing he was until it was too late. No, Traiah will never leave Zach, but they will never be able to move forward either. Zach didn't want that for Nick, and Nick didn't want it for Kurt. When Nick told me how Zach had talked to him, explained everything so he would know how to answer correctly, to be honest, I almost lost it. I could have lost Nick in the beat of his heart."

"Blaine, I just held him, cried, and agreed. I couldn't face a world without Nick by my side, and I know you couldn't without Kurt. I told Nick yes, he could talk to Kurt, explain everything, but not to say anything about what you had planned. So Nick told Kurt what Zach had told him. Nick told me that Kurt asked him if you were planning something. Nick told him that wasn't discussed. The vampire may tell his friends he is planning a ceremony, but not when it would take place," Jeff said, still watching Blaine, hoping he wasn't mad at Nick for talking to Kurt. Blaine was his coven leader and his best friend, but he would side with Nick in this instance.

Blaine stood back for a few minutes, looking between Kurt and Nick, a smile spreading across his face. Nick had saved him, and until that moment, Blaine hadn't even known it. Now, when the time comes, if Kurt seems hesitant, he can stop before the question is asked or answered.

"You know what, my friend, I might just have to go kiss your husband," Blaine said, laughing, turning back to Jeff.

"Blaine, I love you like a brother. I will share with you almost anything, but never that. A quick hug, a firm handshake, ok, but keep your lips away from my man. Go kiss your own," Jeff said with a laugh, smacking Blaine on the back.

And that is what Blaine did. He kissed Kurt thoroughly in front of everyone and then spent the rest of the time Kurt was able to stay by his side. Before Blaine was ready, it was time for Kurt to leave for home. Blaine helped Kurt gather up his birthday presents, stood back as Kurt told everyone thank you and then goodbye before walking beside him out the door and to his car.

"I've got him, boss. He won't be out of my sight when he is outside his home. I won't let anything happen to him," Jamison said, getting into his own car, without Kurt even realizing his presence.

"Please don't, Jamison. He means the world to me," Blaine said, pulling Kurt into his arms.

"I know, Blaine. I've got his back," Jamison answered back, quietly closing his door, looking away to give Blaine and Kurt as much privacy for their goodbyes as he could.

"Please be careful, drive safe, and call me when you get to your father's shop," Blaine said, bringing his attention back to Kurt.

"I will," Kurt said, squeezing Blaine just a little harder, kissing him softly.

"I love you, sweetheart. Happy birthday, Kurt," Blaine said, not ready to let Kurt go.

"I love you, too, and Blaine, thank you for everything. I loved it all," Kurt said before sliding into the seat of his car, waving goodbye, and slowly moving away.

Blaine waved until Kurt couldn't see him anymore, watched as Jamison slowly pulled out behind Kurt, and then slowly made his way back into Alexander Hall. "Wes, Nick, Jeff, are you guys about ready to leave…..?"
