Hey, guys and gals, it's the author here.
The good news is I'm not dead.
However, I'm primarily focused on the Star Wars: The Old Republic fanfic Earth: A Rendezvous with Destiny which is taking the utmost precedence.
But there's another hindrance here as well and completely justifiable:
It is politically tense here in the States currently and while it is a open secret that I supported Trump, I will acknowledge the results even if there were suspicious activities during the election that contributed to Biden's victory.
Don't get me wrong here, I didn't say there's no instances of fraud nor did I say that Biden is entirely illegitimate. I'm in the middle and hoping that the mess can be cleaned and clear up.
It's just hard for anything be judged as nonpartisan right now unfortunately as this story was originally and partly intended to be satirical along the veins of the 1970's SitCom All in the Family and also Last Man Standing as well as being a lighthearted spoof not meant to be taken seriously overall.
Therefore I don't think it is wise to do a update base on the current climate.
I don't want to have reviewers start attacking one another because of their opinions and beliefs, I don't want to risk the site's administrators taking this story down due to how heated it could get hypothetically speaking.
There's also the fact that what contributed to it couldn't be predicted.
I couldn't predict anything like the Coronavirus and while I could pretend it didn't occur in this tale, at the same time arguably the main reason Biden was elected was because of Covid-19 and the hardships even though no one could have known that there was going to be a pandemic.
So, I'm now in a conundrum here as I don't want to discontinue the tale at all but at the same time how to proceed is the question:
Do I include the Coronavirus?
Do I risk upsetting people by having Trump be reelected in the story even if it's justified and purely for comical purposes?
Do I rewrite it by not having Trump be President of the United States in the first place and go with some political OCs instead of real life politicians?
Which for the above also brings the hindrance of creating OCs of foreign governments as it should be fair and unbiased if so.
Would they be satirical characters based on real life politicians or just plain original characters?
That's what I'm asking myself as by unforeseen events it's just not justifiable to update the story at the moment and it irking me as well.
I have been itching to do at least one update for quite sometime as I never intended to neglect Unlikely Alliance but I just keep getting thrown off left and right due to concentrating on E:ARD and situations relating to the rioting, lockdowns, even familial and personal circumstances a few times.
I'm sure everyone has been affected during 2020 one way or another.
I have been open about my leanings so everyone can know my sincerity and I did intend this to be completely unbiased no matter what yet right now the climate went from walking on a fine tightrope over shark infested waters while planning out each chapter involving actual politicians to volcanos on the verge of eruption if I remove the cork per se.
So I don't know when exactly I can update it but until things settle down I can not afford the risk as it can take at least one person to ruin an entire work for everyone.
In short, this story will be on hold until either the political climate settles down as the inauguration is inemiant or I decide if I should do some tweaking instead in the worst case as at the end of the day, it should be for entertainment, not controversy.
Sorry, I'm just in a pickle courtesy of events beyond our control and I hope you all understand.
