"You got pencils?"
"Yep!"
"Pens?"
"Yesss."
"What about your amulet? You bring that?"
"Yes Mom, I have it. I'm gonna go now," Kamiko rolled her eyes as she slipped on her shoes at the front door. "Geez. Now you're a worrywart."
"I mean it's UA! The best hero school in the whole country! Your dad and I dreamed of going there!" Kamiko's mother exclaimed.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. See ya," Kamiko opened the door. She tapped her shoes on the ground twice to adjust its fit on her feet. She then left for the entrance exam of UA hero academia. She didn't feel any pressure, for she couldn't care less whether she gets in or not. Even if she gets in, she secretly applied for the general studies instead of the hero course anyways.
Now, years later, Kamiko's attitude towards her upcoming exam was a complete 180. "Ahhhh! What do I do? I'm not ready!" she cried as she clutched her head.
Bakugou slid the backpack strap that slipped off her shoulder back on her shoulder. "Sucks to be you." He snickered at her. Kamiko stood at the front of her campus, preparing to go in.
"Arrghh! Okay! Fine! Here I go," she groaned as she started taking steps toward the gate.
"Hey shithead!" Bakugou called out. Kamiko stopped and turned around, curious as to what he has to say. He smiled reassuringly at her, and said, "You won't fail."
A smile graced her lips. "Treat me to dinner tonight okay? To celebrate the end of my semester."
"Hah? Why should I do that?!"
"Because I said so!" Kamiko stuck her tongue out. "See ya!" She waved at Bakugou as she ran inside, heading for the fifth teaching building. Bakugou smiled watching her disappear into the campus gates.
"Clearvo, she's in now. Where are you?" Bakugou asked on the phone.
"Within range boss. Also, are you two like...dating now?" The young sidekick asked.
"NO WE'RE NOT! MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS!"
Clearvo winced at the loudness of Bakugou's voice, holding the mobile device a good distance from his face. After Bakugou's outburst, the call was ended. "Well if you say so." The 18 year old shrugged.
The test went surprisingly smooth for Kamiko. She felt super unprepared going in, but a lot of questions that appeared on the test were actually questions she studied. There were a few questions that left her clueless, but she felt like she could at least get a 70% on the test. At this point she didn't even want an A in the class, she just wants to pass.
"Pens down! Test is over!" The proctors came around to collect all the test papers. Kamiko stretched her arms in the air, letting out a satisfied groan. She handed her paper to the TA coming over, and started packing her stationaries.
"Miko-chan, wanna eat with us? We need to celebrate! Akemi, Fumika, and I are thinking of going to the karaoke tonight too." Yoshitaka tapped her on the shoulder.
"I can do lunch if it's on campus. I can't for karaoke though, sorry."
Yoshitaka's brows furrowed. "You haven't been hanging with us much the past month. I mean I know you're busy with your manga and all, but you should really come karaoke with us once in a while," he said.
Kamiko smiled apologetically at her friend. She can't tell him she's under protection from the League of Villains, nor can she tell him she's having dinner with the city's most popular hero. "Yeah, I'll try," she replied. "So where are you guys planning on getting lunch?"
"Well since you said campus only, I guess we're hitting the canteen." Yoshitaka rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Aww. I'm sorry!" The silver haired art student chuckled. Her group of friends gathered at the exit of the building and went to eat lunch together, celebrating the end of the semester and their long awaited summer break.
Everyone had different plans for summer break. Akemi was going on a trip to Singapore with her boyfriend. Fumika was going home to her parents. Yoshitaka and a few of his family friends are planning on going on a vacation at Hokkaido. Kamiko, on the other hand, hadn't really thought about her summer plans. Her parents were busy, so it's not like they nag her to come home whenever she can. Normally she'd spend the summer working on her manga and stocking up chapters. This summer, she expected it'd be no different, except maybe she'd have to work in the agency instead of at home.
"So Miko, you're staying here?" asked Fumika.
"Yeah, most likely."
Akemi smirked. "Well of course she's staying here. After all, she has her b-Ow!" Akemi winced when she felt Kamiko kick her under the table.
"Has her what?" Yoshitaka asked.
"Her BL manga," Akemi corrected herself while glaring at Kamiko, who pretended nothing happened.
After they finished lunch, the juniors agreed on where to meet up for dinner and karaoke. Just as Kamiko was about to take her leave, Akemi grabbed her and dragged her from their friends. "W-Where are we going?" Kamiko asked.
"You are giving me answers!" Akemi huffed. She led the two of them to a bench and sat Kamiko down. Akemi plopped down next to her friend, a big, excited grin on her face. "You and Ground Zero."
"I thought we already talked about this..." Kamiko averted her gaze from her pink haired friend.
"Yeah but today! I saw you two come to school together. The way you looked at him! Something happened between you two. I know it!"
Kamiko had no idea whether she should feel scared or impressed. At that moment Kamiko felt bad for her own dad, who always complain that young police these days aren't perceptive enough. There's a hella perceptive one here, too bad she doesn't wanna be a police. "Have you ever thought about giving up art and becoming a detective?" Kamiko asked with a helpless grin on her face.
"So I'm right!" Akemi's eyes gleamed.
"Let me get this straight. You pulled me over for gossip?"
"What else?! Now stop changing the subject and tell me!"
Kamiko chuckled, scratching her cheek as pink started to dust over. She told Akemi about what happened yesterday. "So you guys are totally dating now!" Akemi exclaimed.
"N-No! We haven't said anything about that yet!" Kamiko denied.
Akemi frowned. "HAH?! Why?! You guys kissed twice! He took care of you a whole night! I'm sure you two are in love!"
The more Akemi reminded Kamiko of the events the redder Kamiko's cheeks became. "I know! At this point I'm pretty sure he likes me back too, which is why I feel like it's...redundant to ask for confirmation... Plus he hasn't brought it up either so I thought..."
"You can't do that Kamiko! You gotta confirm the relationship! If he acts this way around you, there's a big chance he does this to other girls too! If you guys don't confirm your girlfriend boyfriend relationship, then he doesn't have obligations to just be with you!" Akemi said. "Plus, you guys are way beyond the flirting stage. I think it's time you say something."
"R-Really?" Kamiko raised a brow. She doesn't see Bakugou as the type to play with women. "It can't be that bad, I mean he's not the ty-"
"Kamiko have you forgotten about Arata?! You can't trust men so easily! It's because you two never even confirmed your relationship he ended up cheating on you!" Akemi reminded of Kamiko's failed almost first relationship back in freshman year.
"Okay to be fair I didn't think we were at that stage yet!" Kamiko defended herself.
"Exactly why he ran off to play with other women, and you can't even say anything about it. Because you weren't his girlfriend! You couldn't even blame him!" Akemi exclaimed. "You have to know how he feels about what's going on between you two. Or else you're just investing emotions for nothing!"
"Okay, fair point," Kamiko crossed her arms. She leaned back on the bench, letting out a deep breath. Her situation right now is definitely different from back then when she and Arata were flirting with each other. For one, she lives with Bakugou. There's practically no other woman in his life right now, if you don't count the female heroes in the city he sometimes has to work with. Would he...flirt with them behind her back? No, definitely not! He's not the type! "I guess I'll try and bring it up when I have the chance."
"Yeah, definitely do that. Lemme know how it goes." Akemi nodded.
Kamiko chuckled. "Will do." The two of them sat there for a little longer, chatting about Akemi and her boyfriend. Most of the things Kamiko knew about real life relationships came from Akemi. Throughout their college years Akemi has had five or six boyfriends, from different majors and even different schools. She is by no means a player, just the type to get into relationships easily, and then separate soon after she finds out they weren't suited for each other. Thanks to that, however, she finally settled with a guy she's satisfied with, and her relationship has been going strong.
"Oh! Speak of the devil! My boyfriend is calling me! Then I'll see you some time. Call me if you wanna hang out during break!" Akemi said.
"Yep! Have fun with Makoto-san!" Kamiko got up and gave her friend a hug before they separated. Kamiko called Clearvo to tell him she was done with the test, but Clearvo told her he wasn't in the area anymore. "You're not in the area?"
"Just go to the front gate. Someone's waiting for you there already!" Clearvo said. "See ya!" With that he hung up on Kamiko. Kamiko raised a brow. Maybe it's Kaminari or Kirishima. Since Clearvo said that person is already waiting, Kamiko hurried through the campus, making her way to the front gate.
She was pleasantly surprised to see Bakugou standing by the school gates, checking his phone. He looked up when she arrived, and waited patiently as she walked over to him. "The fuck took you so long? I thought your test only took two hours!" he demanded.
"Did you wait here the whole time?" Kamiko asked.
"Of course not! Do I fucking look like I got that kind of time?" he growled at her. The man shuffled his hands in his pocket, and took out a small box. Kamiko looked at the box, and then at Bakugou.
She pointed to herself. "For me?" A gift? Awww he didn't have to!
"It's a new tracker, since you can't seem to keep that damn phone on you."
The excitement on Kamiko's face completely disappeared, replaced by both disappointment and disbelief. "Seriously?" she grumbled as she snatched the box from him, a little pout playing on her lips. "That was one time! One time!" She waved a finger in his face.
"A single mistake could cost us our lives in my line of work," Bakugou grabbed her finger, a frown on his face. Kamiko felt tongue tied, knowing he's absolutely right, and that if she wasn't with Bakugou at that moment, she would have caused him a lot of trouble, and if she wasn't lucky she might've even got caught by the League of Villains. Having a tracker stuck on her body is indeed a good way to ensure her safety, as well as help Bakugou keep track of her whereabouts.
She sighed, opening the small box. Her eyes widened when she found two black stud earrings in the box. They were a small, flat, cylindrical shape. The back of the earring was a screw on type which made it even more secure than normal earrings. "This is... Not what I expected when you said tracker. This is tiny!" Kamiko exclaimed. "I didn't know they make them this small."
"They don't. I had this custom made." Bakugou put his hands in his pockets. Kamiko looked up at him, jaws dropped, eyes wide.
"You had these custom made... For me?" She asked.
"Who else? Now put it on."
Kamiko smiled as she put the studs in her pierced ears. "How do I look?" she asked.
"Stupid." Bakugou smirked.
"Hey!" The young woman put on a pout.
Bakugou grabbed Kamiko by the head pushing her in front of him to make their way down the streets, away from the school campus. "Come on, let's go."
