Chapter Thirty-Three: The Diary

"Alright so don't worry about the password, I'll go ahead and take care of it." Draco whispered over to Harry and Ron while Tickle trotted along beside them wagging his tail. "Just let me do most of the talking." He added softly and then grabbed Harry's glasses and took them off his face before storing them inside his pocket. "And get rid of these or you're going to blow the whole entire thing!" He snapped in the same hushed tones.

That's when suddenly they bumped into Percy Weasley and Ron (as Crabbe) quickly turned his head to look over at him. "What are you doing down here!?" He cried out in his best impersonation voice before Tickle started to bark again and Draco had to hush him before Percy could respond.

"Well, I just happen to be a school prefect. You on the other hand should be in bed this hour of night so therefore I'm subtracting ten points from each of you." He told them and that's when without thinking Harry and Ron breathed a sigh of relief since they wouldn't be losing any points from Gryffindor.

"Thank goodness." Harry/Goyle said and Percy eyed him suspiciously.

"What?" He questioned him with uncertainty before Draco elbowed him in the stomach.

"He's just happy because he was afraid that you would throw us in detention." He explained.

"Well if you don't hurry back to your common room I just might." Percy threatened in which all three boys took his threat seriously and hurried back to the Slytherin common room.

..

Severus chased after Patches as he chased after a full-grown black cat and continued yapping at it. "Patches! You get back here right now!" Severus yelled angrily at him before he quickly turned the corner and darted into the girl's lavatory where Hermione was.

"Patches? Is that you?" She questioned with uncertainty as she opened her stall door and then walked over to him and then he lowered his head and started to growl when he saw that she looked like a gigantic cat before he started barking some more.

Severus had heard all the commotion but being a man, he couldn't go in there, so he went to go see Professor McGonagall who escorted Hermione to the hospital wing. The next morning before breakfast Harry, Ron, and Draco went to go visit her and she told them that she had accidentally collected cat fur instead of human hair and that's why the transformation didn't work.

They had also told her that they had spoken with a few of Draco's friends and they didn't tell them too much more than they already knew about The Chamber of Secrets. The only additional piece of information that they had now is that when the chamber had been opened before, Hagrid had been present.

After lunch Harry needed to use the restroom, but that's when suddenly to his amazement he bumped into Moaning Myrtle and let out a startled shriek. "What are you doing in here this is the boy's bathroom!" He shouted as she stopped her continuous sobs long enough to turn her head and look over at him.

"Come to throw something else at me?" She asked him.

"Why would I throw something at you?" He wondered.

"I don't know, don't ask me. All I know is that I was floating around minding my own business and thinking about death when somebody thought that it was funny to throw a book at me." She replied.

"Well it can't hurt if somebody throws something at you, I mean,.. you can't feel it." Harry pointed out which turned out to be the wrong thing to say.

"Sure! Let's all throw books at Myrtle because she can't feel it!" She cried as she soared over to him. "Ten points if you get it through her stomach!" She hollered before punching Harry in the stomach with her ghostly invisible fist. "Fifty points if it goes through her head!" She yelled before doing the same thing through his head.

"I'm sorry Myrtle." Harry began. "I didn't mean it like that. Who threw it at you anyways?" He wondered.

"I'm not sure, they left before I could catch a good glimpse of them, but there it is right there." She replied and pointed at a thick black book on the ground that resembled a Bible with the name "Tom Marvolo Riddle" on the cover printed in golden letters, but when Harry opened it there was nothing written inside of it. All that Harry could do for now was take care of his business, wash up, and head to class. He decided that he would look at the book more later.

So that evening after he went back to the Gryffindor common room he sat down at a desk while Patches watched closely nearby and once again opened the book. He then took out his quill and dabbed it in ink thinking that it would be a really good book to use to remind him of all his homework that he still needed to complete. However, as soon as he went to go write something the ink dripped down onto a page and then disappeared right through it.

So that's when Harry decided to try something, and he dipped his quill in ink again and then started to write onto the page. "My name is Harry Snape." He wrote and a few seconds later the message disappeared and a new one was in its place.

"Hullo Harry Snape, my name is Tom Riddle." Harry just simply stared and widened his eyes in a sudden state of shock and disbelief before he dabbed his quill back in ink and then started to write again.

"Do you know anything about The Chamber of Secrets?" He wrote and waited for the response. Which sure enough a few moments later one appeared.

"Yes."

Harry quickly dabbed his quill once more and wrote another message for Tom. "Can you tell me?"

"No." Tom began as Harry's heart began to sink. "But I can show you, let me take you back fifty years ago." He finished and Harry wasn't quite sure what he meant by that but that's when suddenly the diary began flipping back pages all by itself back to June 13th, and that's when a golden light started coming out of it and Patches started to bark and within a blink of an eye Harry was swallowed up inside of it.
