A.N: So back to Helgafjall and the current time, I said earlier hiccup had been gone from Berk for 3 years it's not going to be 3 years it'll be 3 months, Vincent will have been on Helgafjall for about a week. My reasoning is it gives Fjalar and Vincent more time to understand one another and be in each other's story.

Vincent's P.O.V: 'This town is a strange place that's for sure, it's nothing like the other islands in the archipelago it's all neatly packed along the coast and up on the bluffs, its architecture reminds me of old roman structures designed to endure the weather and all it brings for a coastal town. Fjalar's tour was nice and brief, I think for some reason I frighten the boy it's possible he heard what I told the elders but I'm not sure. The fighting pits seem interesting, the fighter in there at the time was Trjonn Fjalar's teacher, a skilled man no doubt he was fighting 5 men albeit the men didn't seem the best but still he took them out quickly and efficiently, then it was to the forge, the man I had spoken too earlier was named Bardi and apparently Fjalar also worked here that's how he was being trained by Trjonn. They call it a service trade it's a good idea for a town like this. The elders gave me a small one room hut on the highest bluff overlooking the sea, per my request it allows me to overlook the island and gives me and my dragon plenty of privacy to meditate and practice new magics. The view of the night sky here is…. Breathtaking whole arms of the galaxy can be seen, the stars are too many to count, the moon is large and when its full it is a sight unto itself. I think I'll start charting the night sky and build a small observatory, however its time I rest the day has been long and the hour grows late.' Vincent wrote in his journal before closing it and tucking it under his pillow and blowing out the candle in the cozy hut. The sunlight broke through the curtains and warmed the interior of the hut making the wood creak ever so slightly and as it crept up and over Vincent's eye's he slowly woke up and heard the seagulls calling to one another attempting to get breakfast from the sea below. Vincent slowly stoked the embers and got the fire going again in the small wood stove in the direct center of his new home, filling his tea kettle and brewing a strong black tea. The tea kettle began to hiss and a loud knock on the door startled Vincent, he took the kettle off and set it down."Who is it?" Vincent asked unsure as to why someone would be here this early, "U-uh Fjalar, I-I have some questions" Vincent could hear that Fjalar was a little on edge, he opened the door and looked at Fjalar who clearly did not sleep well and had many questions on his mind questions of a supernatural variety. "Please come in, take a seat,... Would you like some tea?" Vincent stepped aside and warmly welcomed the boy in doing his best to ease his nerves, "Yes, thank you" Fjalar took the cup and took a small sip before wincing slightly,"Ahh sorry its hot, careful…. Anyway you had some questions?" Vincent sat down across from Fjalar. "Yes I do,... I overheard you say some things when you were talking to the elders,... And I just want clarification" Fjalar stumbled over his words and carefully peaced his sentence together unsure of what Vincent's reaction would be. Vincent let out a long sigh……"What did you hear exactly,... More to my point, I thought I felt another presence in the room, were you there?" Vincent stared blankly across the table through Fjalar who began to stutter and stamer"u-u-uh y-y-yes I-I was in there I apologize I didn't know who you were I didn't mean.." Before Fjalar could finish his answer Vincent began laughing heartily lightening the tension which had begun to build" I don't care that you heard, it's all true every word I spoke but you have nothing to fear from me, my days of conquering are over I'm just a tired old man looking to retire to a nice island…. However the elders do care my secret is not to get out that being said I will speak to the elders about what to do" Vincent towards the end seemed to have been talking more to himself than to Fjalar.

Fjalar's P.O.V: Fjalar seemed relieved that Vincent didn't freak out or have a bad reaction to the fact that he had heard everything but he was still stressing over what the elders would decide,.. would they both have to leave. He really didn't want to leave it had only been 3 months but he had just started getting better at fighting due to Trjonn's teaching and he seemed to be making progress on taming new dragons, nothing major yet but he had begun to make friends with a few on some nearby islands to the point where the wouldn't growl at him or do anything hostile, one had actually let him pet him, Fjalar took to calling him groundsplitter because when they first met the dragon had broke a boulder in two, and then there was Katla something about her just lured Fjalar to her, no way did he want to give any of it up. Fjalar had been thinking of the events this morning and what they would lead to on his walk to the forge this morning his body sore from training mainly his legs as they had been practicing some kicks yesterday."Good morning Fjalar, Sleep well?" Bardi asked the young man in a sarcastic tone."Hey Bardi and meh, had some questions for the new comer, Vincent mainly about his dragon. I've never seen one like it" Fjalar quickly lied about the reason for his visit to Vincent's."Yeah he is a bit strange gave me this two days ago after I told him where to find you, Bardi handed the small gold coin to Fjalar "Hmm strange insignia on it looks kinda like a dragon and then whoever this is it says…. Spetim, under it… cool" Fjalar inspected the strange gold coin clearly not from this area before handing it back to Bardi,"So we got two special orders today one from Ivor he needs a new shield the other from Trjonn I guess he finally broke his axe's, well let's get to it" Bardi informed Fjalar of what they were going to be doing today before the duo got to work for the better part of the day.

Vincent's P.O.V: "Hey there Vincent how's this morning treating ya" one of the seniors that lived on the edge of the town square called out to him as he passed by,"It's treating me just fine and you Olga?" Vincent returned in a light hearted kind voice to the elderly woman who sat on her porch knitting,"Oh how sweet of you dear, it's going swell" Olga replied happy that someone had asked how her day was going. Vincent continued on to the great hall eager to speak with the elders about the situation with Fjalar…. Some time had passed and Vincent sat waiting patiently for a private audience with the elders, a small old lady walked into the room,"They're ready for you but be warned the last few people drew their patience thin." Vincent nodded and walked into the hall and stood before the elders,"Vincent it is unusual for us to have private audiences, what is the meaning of this meeting?" The elder on the right spoke." Well it appears that when we met for the first time that Fjalar had snuck into the meeting, I don't blame him I would've done the same thing but as you two said my identity must be kept a secret, I think it's in everyone's best interest he becomes my apprentice that way I can keep an eye him and know he doesn't tell anyone who I am." Vincent stated his case and the elders listened and deliberated on what they would do…." Very well, offer him the position if he declines we will just have to hope that he can keep a secret." The elders spoke and Vincent nodded in respect before returning to his humble abode thinking on how he would propose the idea to Fjalar he knew he was busy and he didn't want to overwork the kid, maybe he'd strike a deal with Bardi and Trjonn pay for his training from Trjonn and if Bardi had too much work Fjalar could work there and also to keep his smithing skills from going to waste god knows it's been ages since Vincent forged anything substantial.

Fjalar's P.O.V: Fjalar was tired and just wanted to go home and take a nap, as he was approaching the front door he could hear talking in the house, one voice was definitely Katla's, the other's was…. Vincent's. Fjalar walked into the house and saw the two of them sitting across from one another drinking some tea that made the house smell of a slight honey and jasmine."Ah Fjalar just the smith I wanted to see!" Vincent exclaimed," You have a very nice house and a lovely roommate, she's very kind and makes good tea. However that's not why I'm here if I could talk to you in private"As Vincent finished his sentence Katla got the hint and got up to leave before Fjalar spoke"Anything you have to say to me can be said to the both of us, Katla took me in and vouched for me even when we didn't know each other, I trust her with my life." Fjalar spoke with a courage that surprised even himself and Vincent could tell this wasn't a negotiation," Very well, I went and spoke to the elders concerning our conversation this morning they agreed that you becoming my apprentice was the best way to ensure that you didn't tell people my identity, now that being said and from the way you reacted to me wanting to speak to you alone I'm guessing Katla knows about me?" Vincent spoke in a calm confident manner trying to have things not escalate"Know what about you?" Katla piped up, unsure of what he meant,... Then it dawned on her and everything Fjalar had said the other night clicked into place."Y-you're the fiend, m-my father told me about you,... W-what you did to his home and his family, his friends, his people,... 'I hear the whispers on the edges of my eye seeping to my bones'. When my mother found him that's all he could say he looked like he'd seen death and lived his clothes were strange and didn't look like they were from anywhere near here and they were soaked in blood yet none of it his own. That is the one thing I remember my mother and father telling me, telling me of the legends of the fiend telling me to be a good little girl do all my chores or he'd come through our village just as he did to my father's" Katla had started crying and began to reach for her swords"You are the reason they died, you are the reason I'm an orphan!" Her voice began to tremble and her outstretched sword arm shaked with fury. "I remember your father he was the only survivor of that battle he was just a kid, I always wondered where he ended up after I sent him through that portal. and then years later I'd find him and his wife with a small child he knew his debt must be paid so instead of your life he gave me his but your mother wouldn't let him and as I swung my sword she stepped in front of it, that was the first innocent I had killed in over 3 millennia,... Yes I killed your parents but they gave their lives to save you, and not a day goes by that the faces and names of the innocent do not haunt me." Vincent remained calm but his voice grew cold and the air became freezing Fjalar grabbed Katla and snapped her out of her fury and they both began to feel the air change and shift they then realized that the being before them was anything but human. Vincent sighed heavily and the energy in the room went back to normal," For what it's worth I am sorry Katla, I never knew my parents I understand that pain but revenge doesn't help, I'm not saying that to get out of a fight,... I know what it'll do too you eating you from within till all that's left is rage and hatred, I offer an apprenticeship to the both of you, should you accept you know where to find me,... And one last thing" as Vincent finished speaking he stood up and pulled out a small urn setting it on the table,"This may seem grim but these are your parents ashes keep them here in your house and you will never be alone they'll always be there for you." Vincent nodded and Fjalar could swear he saw a tear roll down Vincent's cheek just before he left the duo in silence, Katla crying softly into Fjalar's shoulder.

A.N: Well Vincent isn't exactly the good guy but hopefully he can redeem himself in the last little bit of life he has left and what'll happen between our hero's how will they mend a rift like that. Also did anyone catch the Conan references in the last chapter. Till next time, take it easy.
