Dark Kingdom 15
He's so cool. Did you see his car A blue Ferrari.
Naru was slowly but surely getting on her nerves.
She usually loved her Sunday meeting at the Crown, where they chatted and giggled about all sorts of things. But since they were here only Naru had actually spoken. Or rather raved about it.
So you had fun.
But something like that. We want to go out for dinner tonight.
Are you going to meet again? she asked astonished.
"Of course.", Naru nodded with a grin. Do you think I'll miss such a piece of cream?
Piece of cream? This guy?
Ok, he wasn't ugly. But scary. She had never met anyone with such cold eyes. They looked fake, almost like glass, without any emotion.
"Do you want to be with him?" , she asked seriously.
Naru shrugged, typing on her cell phone.
How Usagi hated that wretched habit. She could no longer have a normal conversation without the other half of her brain traveling somewhere in the vastness of the network.
What about Umino?
Naru looked up, frowned at her: It's gotten weird between us. So boring.
What was so bad about boredom? Better a less exciting relationship than one complicated situation at a time. Or as no relationship at all.
I thought you loved him.
I don't know, okay? The one with sapphire. Maybe it's just a distraction to clear my feelings for Umino. Or it is more.
Usagi stared at her friend, speechless.
How much she would love to shake her now. Tell her to get these thoughts out of her mind.
But what reason did she want to argue for?
Usagi knew what Sapphire and his brother did for a living. But did Naru know that too?
And would she believe her if she told the truth?
What about you?
Usagi looked up thoughtfully.
You were in this crazy house yesterday too. What did you do?
"To be honest," she began. We were actually looking for you. I was worried.
Why?
You are just gone with Sapphire, although you hardly know him.
Naru crossed her arms and gave her a smug look: I remind you that the other day you just got into a stranger's car.
Ok, that's true.
But Mamoru really couldn't be compared to Sapphire. Or?
Usagi pushed her concerns aside.
Yes, but ... Do you even know what Sapphire does? How does he earn his money?
Naru nodded: He and his brother have several properties.
That's what you can call it.
Naru stared at her in surprise, but when Usagi tried to explain, she interrupted the loud howling of a car engine.
Her heart started beating. Could it be?
She looked up, but she was disappointed when only a blue sports car drove up.
"Sapphire." Naru squeaked in such a high voice that it almost rang in her ears.
Well, baby. Did you miss me?
Usagi rolled her eyes, rather annoyed.
Usagi. Nice to see you.
She smiled pained. But only because Naru would probably have given her a lecture again, that she shouldn't always react so unfriendly, especially not to her newly chosen treasure.
You left quickly yesterday, Mamoru and you.
Yes, you know that. Work and all. she tried to sound as bored as possible.
Sapphire smiled coldly: You seem to have come to terms with his job relatively well.
Usagi stopped short.
That was a test, clearly. He just wanted to find out what she knew, how much Mamoru had told her.
What should she do?
That would have been the best opportunity to learn about Mamoru. But then she would have to show her nakedness, of all things in front of Sapphire.
"Sure." , she replied instead.
Admirable. His industry has been very popular lately.
Damn it, he really wanted to challenge her. She had to pull herself together so as not to say anything stupid, as always, to give herself away like that.
With your brother too?
She definitely saw a movement on his face. Was he surprised? Shocked?
Only a blink of an eye later he had recovered, appeared as professionally arrogant as she was allowed to get to know him: He seems to be serious if he already tells you something like that.
He paused, looked at her and finally continued: I hope for you that we can all count on your secrecy.
Was that a threat?
Usagi swallowed a lump in her throat.
Sapphire, can we now?
See you again.
It was definitely a threat.
Only when she only saw the bright taillights of the sports car could she breathe normally again.
What was her friend getting into?
Where had she ended up herself? Was it really worth it at all?
Usagi's thoughts returned to last night. All these strange situations she had been through.
The strange conversation with Diamond, the fight in front of the disco. And then of course Mamoru. How he had saved her, how she lay in his strong arms. How she kissed him.
Oh my god, she kissed him.
She still had butterflies in her stomach whenever she thought about it. A smile crept onto her lips. On the lips that had touched his. IT was so unbelievable, indescribably beautiful, wicked, exciting, dark.
Yes, when their lips touched, she had the feeling that the darkness around her was growing, literally engulfing her. Mamoru might live in a dangerous dark world, but maybe it was precisely this unknown that attracted Usagi.
And maybe that's exactly what scared her so much.
