A/N: This chapter skips through time quite a bit, just a warning.
A month passed since the Christmas fiasco, it took a while before Ashleigh's black eyes started to disappear; they were still visible but a yellow color now. While magic could have fixed it, whether a spell, salve or potion, she didn't like to use magic for everything. George and Ashleigh wanted to find their own place, now that the twins were getting bigger, they couldn't keep full sized cribs in George's room. Fred insisted that they stayed there because he didn't want them to leave him. He came up with the compromise of using an extension charm on George's room.
"This will only work for so long you know. Eventually they're gonna get older and need actual beds", Ashleigh told the twins.
"But when that time comes, we can all get a house", Fred said, smirking.
"Are we gonna be stuck living with him for our entire lives?" Ashleigh asked George. They both laughed at Fred's facial expression.
"We could do that, just stick him in the basement and feed him through a hole in the door", George laughed.
"Sounds like a plan", Ashleigh smirked. Ashleigh walked over and sat on the floor with the twins.
Mason and Callum were now four months old and could sit up on their own pretty well, so they were sitting on a play mat, with cushions behind them so they didn't fall back, playing with the toys attached to it. They seemed genuinely happy and Ashleigh was happy that she and George were doing a good job. Mason smiled and Ashleigh noticed something.
"George, come here", she said as she held Mason and looked into his mouth. "Look, Mason's two bottom teeth are coming in", she showed him and Fred. This caused George to check Callum's mouth.
"Callum's are too", he smiled.
"Our babies are growing too fast", Ashleigh frowned.
"They are. But it'll be exciting once they get older, we'll be able to send them to Hogwarts and be rid of them", George laughed.
"They might not have magical abilities though. Remember, my dad was a muggle", Ashleigh told him.
"Oh, right. That's okay. We'll send them off to boarding school if they're not magical", he smiled.
"I don't think so. They'll be my babies forever", Ashleigh told him.
"They won't like that once they're teenagers, maybe even younger", Fred told her.
"They don't have to like it", Ashleigh told him. They nodded and gave up trying to win. "That's right, no one ever wins against me", she smirked.
"So when are you and Hermione gonna give us a niece or nephew?" George asked Fred. Fred's face fell.
"I dunno. We've never talked about it", Fred told them.
"You're not getting any younger, you better get on it", George winked, earning a smack from Ashleigh.
"Just because we're young and got pregnant, doesn't mean everyone needs to do the same", Ashleigh told him.
"Yeah. When are you gonna have more?" Fred shot back, this time Ashleigh smacked him.
"Last time you guys did this, you could've killed me. So I don't suggest starting again. Because it'll be me doing the killing", she warned the boys. "And, we have two children which is enough for now, thank you very much", she added.
"Okay, just stop hitting us please", George said.
"I will when you two smarten up", Ashleigh told them.
"Fine", they both grumbled.
"Thank you", Ashleigh smiled, victoriously.
Two months later found George and Ashleigh still living above the joke shop, but they managed fine. The twins were now 6 months old. They were always rolling around on the floor and they had started to crawl. This meant it was 'go, go, go' for Ashleigh and George, always following wherever the twins would go.
"At least they're in bed", Ashleigh sighed, sitting down.
"Yeah, wait until they start walking", George laughed.
"Don't remind me", she said, playfully elbowing George in the side.
"How was your day?" George asked. "Other than chasing the twins", he added,
"I'm sure yours was better. I'm exhausted. You get to leave and go to work every day, lucky bugger", she told him as she cuddled into his side on the couch. He put his arm around her and smiled.
"Not really. I have to spend the days away from my family, how is that lucky?" He asked.
"Good point", Ashleigh smiled. "But we need money, so I'm okay with you being gone", she smirked.
"Thanks", George said, pretending to sound hurt.
"You're welcome", Ashleigh smiled but made it up to him by giving him a long drawn out kiss.
"Now, that's what i was looking for", he smiled. Ashleigh smiled and just laid against George.
"Happy birthday baby", she said, looking up at him.
"Thank you", he smiled, giving her another kiss before she fell asleep.
Ashleigh woke up later that night in the dark living room. She realized she was still leaning against George, whose chest was slowly rising and falling. She quickly realized he was asleep.
"George, wake up", Ashleigh said, shaking him slightly. "George".
"Hmm?"
"We fell asleep on the couch. Let's go to bed", she told him as she got up. She could hear him walking and then heard a bang.
"Shit!" George yelled in a whisper.
"What happened?"
"I hit my leg off of something and stubbed my toe, really hard", he mumbled. She could see his outline and could tell he was limping.
"Come on, let's get into bed. I'm sure your toe is fine", Ashleigh said, grabbing his hand and leading him the rest of the way. They walked into the bedroom and Ashleigh noticed both babies were standing, holding onto the bars of the crib. "George, look. They got up on their own", she whispered. The only time they had stood holding onto something was if they were helped up.
"I think they're a little ahead of schedule", George laughed as he took Mason out of his crib to change him, Ashleigh doing the same with Callum.
"I think so. But it's not necessarily a bad thing", she told him as they put the twins back to bed, they were doing pretty good with sleeping at night. Only waking up one or two times at night, instead of the four or more times when they first brought them home.
"I know. It's just crazy, watching them grow up and go through all these milestones. Then thinking that we created these two human beings", George told her as they watched them go back to sleep.
"I know what you mean. But I'm tired, so I'm going to sleep. Come on", she said, pulling George over to the bed.
