Chapter 10: New dog, Old tricks

Greetings everyone. Once again I'm back with another chapter for ya. Now as I mentioned in the last chapter that I would be replying to reviews for this story. Better late than ever am I right? Lol.

Anyway you can see the replies at the end of this chapter. That said let's get to it.

(Nae's repair shop)

As he finished recharging Rokusho powered back up and began to take in his current surroundings. He was laying on a table hooked up to a generator. A light was hanging above him. There was also a work table with an assortment of tools next to him.

He sat up when he realized he wasn't strapped down. He looked over himself and found that his body had been repaired. "Oh hey you're finally awake." Rokusho looked to where the voice came from and saw a young woman dressed in a white shirt and overalls standing in the doorway.

She walked over to him and sat down next to the table. At first Rokusho was wary of her at first but started to relax a little. She reached over and unplugged the charging cable attached to him. She then started looking him over. "Try lifting your right arm." Rokusho complied and lifted his arm.

She closely examined his arm. "Ok motion circuits are looking good." She gestured for him to lower his arm. As he did she took another look at his neck and shoulders. "Well the replacement joints should be able to hold up just fine. Provided you try not to pick fights using your head." Rokusho remained silent.

She then turned to face him. "You don't remember me do you?" Rokusho looked at her confused. She just smiled at him. "It's ok if you don't. After all it was a very long time ago." She stood up and stepped aside. "Anyway you can get down from the table now." Rokusho got down from the table and turned to face her. "Thank you for repairing me, Ms?" "Oh you can just call me Ms. Nae. Everyone does."

Rokusho bowed his head. "Thank you Ms. Nae. I am in your debt." Nae smiled. "It's really Metabee and Brass you should thank. They're the ones that brought you here last night." "I see." Rokusho turned to see a medabot float into the room. "Ms. Nae you have another medabot in need of repairs."

Nae picked up a rag to clean her hands. "Thank you Honey. Tell them I'll be with them in a minute." Honey nodded and left the room. Rokusho turned back to Nae. "I should be going now." He turned to leave until Nae called out to him. "Wait. At least stick around until your friends get here." Rokusho stopped in the doorway. "Metabee is coming here?" "Yeah him and Brass should be coming by later to see how you're doing." Rokusho stood silently for a minute.

He turned to look over his shoulder. "Do you have somewhere quiet I can meditate?" Nae was confused at first before shaking it off. "Sure. I have a garden out back." "Thank you." Rokusho walked in the direction Nae pointed to.

As he walked past her she couldn't help but notice a look of concern/determination in his eyes. She was well aware about what was happening from the past few days. And after seeing the state he was in when he was brought in she wondered whether or not it was going to get worse.

(City area)

Metabee ran full force in the direction of Nae's repair shop. A surge of emotions ran through him as he ran. A mixture of anger and fear. Anger for what's been happening to him and his friends. Fear for whether there was still a piece of his past that he didn't see during the world tournament.

Whatever the case he needed answers to many questions. And deep down he knew Rokusho would be the one to have them. After all it was him who told them the history of the medabots who were inside the stolen capsules. And if he knew that he may yet know other things as well.

(Nae's repair shop)

Metabee ran right into the shop just as Nae was fixing up another medabot. He stopped to take a breath. Or at least he would if he needed to breathe. Nae looked up at Metabee. "Oh hi there Metabee." "Hey Ms. Nae. Is Rokusho awake yet?" "As a matter of fact you can find him in the garden out back." She pointed the way and Metabee walked out.

(Garden)

Metabee walked through the door to find a small garden filled with a variety of different flowers. He looked to see Rokusho sitting in the center in deep meditation surrounded by a few butterflies. He slowly walked over to him stopping just a few feet behind him.

He was about to say something when Rokusho beat him to it. "There's something troubling you isn't there?" Metabee was caught by surprise. "How did you-?" "The young woman mentioned you and Brass would be coming by today. That fact that it's only you must mean you have something on your mind that you either can't or won't share with your friends." Metabee clenched his fists.

He let out a long sigh. "It...it's just that ever since you told us that story about the bots in those capsules I've been having these dreams." Metabee paced back and forth behind him. "Only now I'm thinking that maybe they're not dreams." Rokusho remained silent for a moment before speaking. "Describe these dreams you've been having." Metabee stops pacing.

"It was like what I experienced at the world tournament a few years ago. Like I was sering figments of a past life. Except this time it's different." Metabee paused for a moment. "It's like I'm actually there. I can actually feel everything that's going on around me. And every night it's the same thing over and over." As he spoke glimpses of his dream are shown. "I'm in a massive battle. There's blaster fire and explosions all around me."

"Then I look up and I see this bot standing over me. And right as I'm about to get a look at them…...I wake up." Rokusho stood up and turned to face him. "And you believe these aren't just dreams?" Metabee shrugged. "I don't know, but whatever they are I know they've got something to do with the bots that have been wreaking havoc lately."

He gave Rokusho a serious look. "And I know you know something about them." Rokusho shook his head. "I have already told you all that I know about them." "BULLSHIT!" Metabee pointed his finger at him. "You know something I know you do."

Rokusho remained silent. "Why else would you go after them? Why would they know you?" "I don't know why. But what I do know is they're just getting started." Rokusho walked up to him. "What happened at the festival and the school was only a sample of what's to come." Metabee stood there taking his words in.

"These aren't like the bots you've battled in the past." Rokusho looked at Metabee in the eyes. "They don't take orders from humans. They aren't limited by their programming. They are ruthless, brutal and they won't stop until everything is either under their control or destroyed." Metabee didn't know what to say at first. He just couldn't fathom that bots like what Rokusho described could even exist.

If someone had told him this a few years ago he wouldn't have believed it. And yet he's seen first hand what these bots were capable of. And to make matters worse he's seen what's happened to his friends. If what Rokusho said was true he couldn't allow that to happen again.

So he straightened up and faced him. "So what do we do?" "We fight them." Metabee gained a whole new resolve. "When do we start?" Rokusho turned away from him. He took a few steps before speaking. "Metabee there's something I want you to do for me." "Sure like what?" Rokusho turned around. "Fire your blaster at me." Metabee did a double take.

"Wait, what?" Rokusho just stood there. "You heard me." "You want me to fire at you?" "I want you to try." Metabee, still confused, raised his left arm and aimed at Rokusho. He hesitated at first but trusted that his friend knew what he was doing. He fired a shot with Rokusho swatting it away with his blade.

"Again." Metabee aimed and fired only for Rokusho to once again block with his sword. "Too slow. Again." Metabee continued firing and Rokusho continued blocking, taking one step for every shot. "Pitiful. Again! Again! Faster! AGAIN! AGAIN!" Before Metabee could fire another shot, Rokusho had his blade to Metabee's throat.

Metabee stiffened not sure what was going to happen next. Rokusho lowered his blade. He moved in close. "You've spent so long participating in children's games that you've forgotten what it means to be in a real battle." Metabee stood speechless. "You don't have what it truly takes to fight this enemy." Those last words finally snapped Metabee out of his trance.

"Hey wait a second I saved your sorry can didn't I?" "Technically Brass saved both of us. But you can't always expect to have someone swoop in and save you." Rokusho stepped back. "What I mean is last time you were lucky. Next time however you may not be so fortunate." What Rokusho was saying made a lot of sense. He had gotten lucky at the festival. Even earlier today he had his friends to back him up against Aracno-Droid.

He knew that he couldn't treat any upcoming fights as standard Robattles. These bots were playing rough and were playing for keeps. If he was gonna take them on and win he'd have to play by a whole different set of rules. He'd have to learn how to fight like Rokusho. "Then teach me." Rokusho feigned ignorance to what Metabee meant. "Teach you what?" "Teach me how to fight like you can." "You can't fight like I can." Metabee was about to protest until Rokusho raised his hand towards him. "What I mean is you don't need to fight like me. You already have the necessary skills needed."

Metabee stood there confused. "Don't you understand? These dreams you've been having aren't dreams, they're memories." Suddenly it all made sense now. Why it all felt so real. Why it was just like what happened at the world tournament. Metabee knew it deep down but wasn't sure if it was true or not. But now after hearing it from Rokusho he finally accepted it. "So what do I need to do?" "You need to relearn what you've forgotten." "Ok. And how do I do that?" Rokusho walked up to him. "I can help you. I can't teach you but I can show you how if you'll trust me."

Metabee thought for a moment before answering. He knew that if he did this it meant possibly keeping more secrets from Ikki and the others. But seeing how Zuru was already getting involved and had told the others he felt like this could help as well in some way. "One condition, we do this with the others." "Metabee we can't guarantee their safety if we involve them." "I hate to break it to you old friend but they're already involving themselves." After Metabee explained everything that happened Rokusho understood.

He nodded his head. "I see. Very well but remember that this fight won't be easy." "That's why it's a good thing we're not going into this fight by ourselves." Rokusho chuckled a bit. "Then we shall begin training tomorrow." Metabee nodded in agreement. "I'll let everyone else know." Metabee turned to leave but then heard Rokusho call him. "Just remember Metabee, The past is not something to be feared, only overcome." Metabee shrugged it off. "Who says I'm afraid?"

Metabee acted all tough but Rokusho could see plenty of doubt in his eyes. With that Metabee left to tell the others. Once he was gone Rokusho resumed his meditation. He was still unsure if Metabee and his friends were up to the task. But if what Metabee told him was true then it was only a matter of time before they would find themselves under attack again. If he was to protect them then he would have no choice but to turn them into true warriors. And prepare them for the coming fight.

Will Metabee and his friends be able to pass Rokusho's training? Will even more memories surface in the near future? Will Metabee become the next Karate Kid!? Find out next time in the next incredible chapter: Make a Warrior out of You.
