It's been far too long. And for that I apologize. But here I am. Here's update one. I'll have another up shortly. I'm feeling inspired.
Mitchie stared at her bubbled ceiling. She was trying to count how often her fan did a complete 360. Her arms laid next to her, her stomach growled, her phone rang next to her but yet she had no motivation to do anything. She knew she was in the middle of it. Mitchie had been skipping meals, showers and all contact with the world outside her room. She knew this was just the beginning of a bad episode.
When did she get here? Why did she let herself get here? How?
All these questions went unanswered as she breathed in and out. Counting her heartbeat that was ringing in her ears. She heard a familiar knock on the door, a voice coming from the other side. She hasnt moved all weekend. She told her mom she had started her period and wanted to be left alone. She wasnt on her period but wanted to be left alone.
The news surrounding her virginity became an actual nightmare when pictures of her surfaced the viral thread. Every guy she came in contact with or would even stand next to for more than a minute or two were being posted with a caption of "sutor number, cast your vote."
She wanted nothing to do with that school. Public school was just a punishment in itself. She wanted to run, but couldn't find the little voice in her brain to connect her thoughts to limbs. They've been silenced with her manic state.
She was in trouble.
A knock spooked her awake.
"...open the door or im busting in there michelle!" her mother.
"Go away." Her weak voice creaked.
"Steve, call them now. Tell them we need to be seen as soon as we get there."
"I'm already on the phone."
Mitchie couldn't tell you, even if she wanted to, she couldn't remember what happened after her parents broke into her room. She just remembers the color of her floor, the color of the carpet of her parents car, the color of the tile from the cold waiting room. The office smelled like stale coffee and old musk. She sat in a chair, saw different feet walk by her, no sound ever made it into her ears.
"We're going to keep her overnight. Just in case something happens. Has she been taking her medicine like prescribed?"
No.
"Yes, we checked."
"Has anything been bothering her? Is she going through anything stressful?"
Yes. And yes.
"Not that we've noticed. We've been sort of busy with the new office but we haven't noticed anything out of place with her life. We've been making this move as smooth as possible. The school called us this morning about her missing a few classes at the end of the day. But she's ahead of her classes we didn't press the matter."
"Hmm. We might need to adjust her medicines again. Just for a few months and see if anything changes."
"We're willing to do whatever it takes to get our daughter back."
I'm right here. I'm fine.
A gray tile turned into white carpet. Her clothes were replaced with a grey sweatsuit and white ankle socks. Her hair was braided by her mom who was explaining what the next 24 hours were going to be like.
Mitchie laid in the twin sized bed and stared at the bubbled white ceiling.
Back in the real world, Caitlyn was rushing through the halls, where was that red headed bitch?!
"Christopher!" Caitlyn yelled from one end of the hall towards the tall, black haired kid. His eyes widen when he saw Caitlyn's curls coming his way with real hatred and determination.
"Where the fuck is Misty?" Caitlyn spat, grabbing fistfuls of his shirt.
"Woah, how the hell should i know?" Chris looked around at the crowd starting to form around them.
"Well captain obvious, isn't she like your girlfriend or something?" Her tone of voice wasn't lowering.
"Or something. We broke it off before the weekend. I haven't heard from her in a few days."
"Shes fucking dead." Caitlyn pushed herself through the crowd.
Shane looked on from afar. He never cared for the underclassmen's bullshit. But he noticed it had to do with some of the kids Mitchie was known for hanging out with. His eyes followed her and his feet seemed to get the hint.
He followed her to the other hall where he saw her kick the locker next to her before putting her back to them and sliding down them. She covered her hands with her face and her shoulders began to shake.
"Woah, are you okay?" Shane asked as he bent donw to help the girl up.
"Leave me the fuck alone."
"What's your problem?"
"All of you should be ashamed of yourselves."
"What?"
Caitlyn got up, and shoulder shoved her way past Shane. Shane ran up to her and gently grabbed her elbow, making her stop. She sighed in defeat as she threw herself on him. He stumbled backwards as he caught her weight.
"All this is fucked up, this fucked her up."
That's all she had to say for Shane to put two and two together. It had to do with Mitchie.
He waited for her sobs to slow down, students looked on, but kept walking. The bell rang and everyone scattered to their class until it was just them.
"What is going on?" Shane asked.
"Don't act like you dont know." Caitlyn said as she wiped at her nose with the back of her hand.
"What are you talking about?" Shane asked.
Caitlyn shook her head and turned on her heel. Shane reached out to stop her but she made her way into the bathroom.
He sighed as he walked into his class, ten minutes late without an excuse. His teacher didn't say a word but pointed to the door. Shane grabbed his things and walked to the main office to take his usual seat in the student in class detention room. He was late often, and was a regular along with a couple of his classmates.
He sighed as he sat down, the door was wide open and he noticed the red head Caitlyn was looking for earlier in the other office. She looked uninterested and on her phone. Miss Turner was talking to her in a face that he thought was reserved for just him. He'd been on that side of the office a lot during his freshman year when he was just fucking around, blowing school and class off. He just didn't care. Miss turner has a reputation of being the nicest staff member this school had so when Shane saw her angry face and heard her cold tone he knew he was in for it.
The red headed just kept chewing on her gum and look uninterested at her fingernails. She glared back when miss turner wrote down on the pink paper. A suspension slip.
Shane focused on the conversation.
"You're suspended for two weeks for posting that page."
"She had it coming."
"We will not tolerate cyber bullying. Do you understand Miss Rivera?"
"I don't even have access to that page. You're going after the wrong person."
"Well why don't you enlighten us and tell us who else was involved in making a live auction for the virginity of one of your fellow classmates?"
The red head stayed quiet.
"Mr. and Mrs. Torres wants those who were involved to take action to what they did to their daughter."
The red head sneered, "she was flaunting it like she wanted it."
"They threatened to involve the police if we don't handle the matter in our own hands."
This shut her up, her mouth opened wide and Shane swore she stopped breathing.
"Your parents are on their way."
"It was sander edwards who made it public. I made the page as a joke but he posted it. He was the one getting the word out. Not just me."
"Why am I not surprised." Miss turner sighed.
Shane felt the blood rush out of his head and into his ears as he fumed in his seat. He raises his hand quickly and asks for a pass to the bathroom. They had five minutes left of class so the teacher just gave him the okay to go to the bathroom and off to his next class. Shane grabbed his things hurriedly and ran to the other side of school, to the locker he shared with Sander.
As the bell rang Shane's heart sped up, knowing he was seconds away from confronting his best friend.
"Shane buddy! I heard the wildest rumour about you and that curly haired chick!" Sander entered the hall.
Shane's eyes saw black and in a blink of an eye he heard gasps before the sound of sanders back thudding against their locker. He swore he heard a guy scream fight but he couldn't hear much over the sound of the thumping of his heart.
"What the fuck did you do to Mitchie?!"
Sanders' eyes widened before the soften and in a sleazy tone he laughed wickedly.
"Oh nothing dude. Just played a little joke on little miss prudence." Sander laughed. Which in turn made Shane slam him again. Even harder.
"What the fuck did you do?"
"Chill man, you're starting to piss me off."
"Tell." Slam. "Me." Slam.
People were taking out their phones, to record the confrontation.
"Get the fuck off me, man. It was a joke. A page with suitors. People got to vote who'd likely take Mitchie's virginity. Don't sweat it man, you're like top three. I'm number one of course." Sander smirked.
Shane didn't even think before his fist made contact with Sander's face.
They heard the golf carts flying towards them. Everyone scattered away from the scene. Shane bent down to grab his book bag as he snickered at sander's groans from the ground. Shane walked towards one of the security guards and hopped into his golf cart. The last thing Shane saw was two guards trying to help Sander up.
