Wahoo I got this out before I fell asleep! This one is for you Adrinette shippers... ;)
Chapter Fifteen
So is that a Yes?
"Why do you look so happy?" Marinette asked her mother who was humming almost too happily as she fixed some dinner for Tom and herself.
The woman turned to her daughter, unable to hide her childish grin that was identical to the one her father had been wearing all day."Can't I be happy?"
"Ya, but not this happy," Marnette said, pulling her fall coat on. She zipped it over her rounded bump that would barely fit in it.
Sabine ignored her daughter, continuing to hum random tunes." So where is Adrien taking you out?" she asked, slowly stirring the homemade Italian wedding soup. It was one of Marinette's favorites, and if she weren't going on her first proper date with her boyfriend, she'd be saddened to miss out on it.
"He didn't specify," she said, curious where he was taking her. He'd seemed nervous over the phone, but excited, only telling her to meet him by the Seine.
"Ooh, well I bet you'll both have fun," she said, still childishly excited about whatever.
"Hopefully somewhere inside," she said, peering outside. It was only October, close to Halloween, but she felt it was cold enough for snow. Before she enjoyed the cold, but since falling pregnant, it was like her body heat switched and she couldn't stand the cold. But she still looked forward to the snow, freezing was worth witnessing the beautiful snow. Her phone dinged gently and she couldn't hide her smile.
[My Kitty: I'm ready when you are Princess!]
By her daughter's face, Sabine easily knew who was texting her."Enjoy yourself, dear. And make sure if your feet hurt you sit. Need to take care of that little one."
Marinette laughed."I know Maman," she stepped forward, kissing her mother's cheek."I'll see you tonight Mama," she called, hurrying as fast as she could down the stairs. Submerged in the frigid air, Marinette kept her hands in her pockets as she walked down the street. Walking hadn't become difficult yet but her feet were beginning to swell. Nausea was almost entirely gone(except with sauce and matcha, both of which caused her stomach to churn) and she could eat things on the regular, avoiding the obvious. Really, things were relatively easy at the moment, but she tried to not get her hopes up, prepared that things would soon grow harder.
Her smile brightened as she spotted her love. He stood on the bridge running over the Seine. He was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and relatively nice pants. His olive green jacket was open and the light blue scarf she'd made him years earlier, wrapped around his neck loosely. I should make him a new one for Christmas, she thought though Christmas was over two months away.
Adrien turned, noticing her. A smile instantly crossed his face as he stared at her."You look beautiful," he complimented genuinely, staring at the way her wavy midnight hair hung at her shoulders, framing her round face. He could see the top of her dark green sweater through her half-zipped jacket that easily showed off her bump.
Marinette blushed, finding the banter strange, even if it was normal for him to do. Something about this time was different."And you look quite charming,"
"You flatter me, M'lady," he said, bowing slightly, causing her to giggle.
"Your so dramatic," she said, though couldn't deny she like his little acts." So, are we staying out in the cold or are we going to eat?" she asked, able to feel herself and Hugo growing hungry.
Adrien laughed awkwardly, scratching at the back of his neck."Actually... uh I umm..."
Why is he so nervous? she questioned, not used to him being like this."Adrien is everything-"
Before she could finish, Adrien cupped her hands gently, staring her in the eyes. He was bright red, but snow-white at the same time. He looked nervous and flustered. It was confusing to witness and she was growing slightly worried." Marinette!" he called her name out surprisingly loud. Marinette's eyes widened in surprised and confusion. Adrien's hand fumbled with his pocket and he eventually had to break his gaze at her." Ah come on," he cursed under his breath.
"Adrien," she said, watching as he still struggled."What's wr-"
She fell silent spotting the small black box he pulled out of his pocket. Still holding on of her hands, he met her now entranced and shocked gaze, trying to push the number of nerves he felt away. Holding her hand, he fell down onto one knee." Marinette Dupain-Cheng," he said, staring up at her with a loving gaze, a smile playing his lips. The box clicked open and a ring was situated within."I've always loved you and will love you and our son forever. Would you do me the honor of marrying me?"
Marinette stared down, jaw practically dragging on the bridge. Staring at the ring then at him, she had to take a second to process what was happening. At her silence, Adrien grew worried that she wanted to wait and he might've scared her off."What?" she asked in a breathy tone and wide eyes.
Oh shit... that was all the teenager could think."Marinette if its to-"
"Holy shit!" she exclaimed, practically jumping."You proposed!"
A laugh escaped him." Ya I am. So is that a yes or...?" he asked, crossing his fingers.
"Oh, ya-Yes Yes Yes!" she nearly screamed, continuing to jump up and down.
Unable to believe that had actually happened, Adrien rose, sliding the ring with a grey band. A small diamond was centered with smaller versions of it, placed on either side. Embracing her lovingly, Adrien couldn't help but shed a tear, overjoyed to be marrying her." I love you," he heard her say through tears of pure joy.
"I love you too Marinette," he whispered back, one hand gently touching her stomach."You too Hugo," he added with a smile.
The boyfriend and - correction - the fiances sat down in a restaurant that was luckily warm for Marinette's sake. Sat down, she couldn't take her eyes off the glimmering ring." How much did this cost?" she asked,d unable to believe an 18-year-old could afford that.
"Not much," he said, sipping his water as he admired her.
Marinette turned up to him, unable to believe that."That's definitely not true,"
Seeing he wouldn't win this argument, he sighed."Yes, it cost something, but before you yell, it was part of my father's collection so I got a discount." A frown remained on her face, not a fan of him spending money on her."What else am I going to use the money I've saved up on?"
"Still," Marinette said, not wanting to sound selfish but the idea of it being expensive just didn't sit well with her." I love it," she assured him, easily forcing a smile.
Adrien smiled, setting his hand on top of hers."Actually, I wanted to talk to you about that."
"About what?" she asked, taking a sip of her Shirley Temple, deeply enjoying the beverage she hadn't had since she was 12.
"Now that I'm eighteen," he began, thinking how he should approach the conversation."Over the years, I've modeled for companies besides my father's. Of course, I was unable to use any of this money and it went to a savings account. And now that I'm technically an adult, I have access to it,"
Her straw fell from her mouth." What do you mean?" she asked.
He smiled, excitedly."It'll be time before either of us has the opportunity to go to college and that's what my father respected me to use it on. But, you and Hugo take priority and he can't decide what I use my money on."
Confused, Marinette continued to stare into his emerald eyes, glimmering in excitement."Okay, but what were you thinking?" she asked hesitantly.
"Well, I was looking up some generic laws here and Paris and a person has to be 18 to rent an apartment. I'm 18 and you're almost so I thought we could go look at a few apartments."
In disbelief, Marinette shook her head." You're not punking me, right?" she asked, unable to believe this was true. Before, having their own place to raise their son was just some dream that would never come true. And now, engaged to the man she loved, expecting a baby she was overjoyed to be having, it felt all her dreams were coming true.
Adrien only smiled, placing his phone before her. It was open to his camera roll with multiple screenshots of various apartments."After we finish eating, we can go look at some,"
Looking over the photos, hormones overwhelmed her and she struggled to hold back tears, "Adrien," she said, shaking her head.
Smile fading to a frown, he gently grabbed her hand."Marinette are you okay,"
"It-It's too much," she cried quietly, quickly wiping her tears away as she imagined raising their little boy in a home of their own."You're doing too much,"
"Paw-lease," Adrien laughed, emotional himself by her reaction, having just suspected a hug and little cheer of excitement." This money's all from shoots when I was a kid, and now," he said, gently rubbing her ring and hand."It's our money. We're in this together My lady."
Wiping the last of her tears, Marinette smiled."Thank you," she said, through another joyous cry.
Adrien smirked, pretty sure he'd never be happier."And there's one more thing,"
Marinette's face drew serious."Adrien no more. I don't-"
"It's not anything, just a suggestion," he interrupted, his lady falling quiet with curiosity." I was just thinking, that I don't want to wait to marry you." he stared into her bluebell eyes, instantly being swept up."So why wait?"
Confused ever so slightly, Marinette stroked his hand."Weddings take months of planning and-"
"We don't need months," he interrupted."You've told me you always wanted to make your own wedding dress. Think about it Bug. A small winter wedding, just your parents, and maybe my father, and our closest friends."
Ready to argue, the teenager paused, the idea appealing to her. She turned 18 in two weeks and after that, they legally could get married."It's crazy," she laughed, looking up at him, lovestruck instantly."Let's do it,"
