Serana's Point of View:
The hooded woman's eyes glowed red, piercing the depths of the night as she recited an incantation. She stood in what appeared to be an ancient graveyard. As she chanted, skeletal figures and decayed figures started to crawl and dig slowly out of the ground.
"My Children," she shouted, "We will rise and we will devour the souls of the living. Let it be known, the Night Queen has arisen!"
I jolted awake with a start, bolting upright. I was still securely within my bedroll in the forest next to Calia's cabin, as I had been when I went to sleep. I looked around, and saw glowing red eyes in the shadows. I quickly pulled myself out of the bedroll, snatching up my sword.
"Allea! We may have trouble," I shouted.
It was good that I called when I did, because the next moment there was a puff of black smoke and a black skeletal figure was upon me. I brought my blade up just in time to parry its own, then darted back, making a quick slash at its wrist. My blade passed through the skeleton as if nothing was there. I released a quick jet of flame, and the skeleton disappeared as if it was never there.
"YOL TOOR SHUUL," I heard Allea Shout, and a massive blast of flame consumed several more skeletal figures which had come out of the shadows.
A blast of black lightning struck me square in the chest, and I flew backwards, crashing into a tree. My vision went fuzzy and I was stunned, barely able to move.
"Serana!"
"I'm okay," I called to Allea, "Just a little stunned!"
Allea nodded back at me and went back to concentrating on her foes. One of the figures lunged towards me, and I rolled off to the side. I watched as its head fell off, neck severed by a sweeping blow from Calia's sword. Calia knelt in front of me, sheathing her sword back over her shoulder again.
"You alright?"
I nodded, and she extended her hand to help me up.
"Thanks!"
She nodded back, and I snatched my sword back off the ground. I summoned a ball of flame and flung it towards the crowd of skeletons that were attacking Allea. Another blast of black lightning flew towards her, but she cast a quick ward spell which seemed to absorb it.
"We need to take out that mage," I told Calia, "Where is he?"
"Over there! To your right," she told me, pointing with her chin.
I lunged at him, throwing a ward spell up just in time to protect myself from another blast of his magic. He summoned a spectral black sword, and raised it just in time to deflect my blade as it swept for his wrist. I felt my arm vibrate as our blades connected. He quickly pulled his blade back and then drove it towards my stomach, but I parried, and headbutted him. He staggered back, dropping his blade. I severed his wrists with a pair of quick slashes, then flipped my wrist and smashed the pommel of my own blade into his forehead to knock him out. I glanced back over to Allea and saw that her foes had vanished.
"Do you have any rope? I wanna interrogate this mage," I called to Allea as she walked over.
We tied him up swiftly, and then I slapped him across the face to wake him up.
"You are all fools," he growled, "The Night Queen has risen and she will consume all life."
Calia swore under her breath.
"No...This is bad," she muttered, "Where is she? She must be destroyed"
"You will not find her. No. She will find you. And she will crush you like a bug."
The sorcerer fell limp and stopped breathing.
"Who is the Night Queen?"
"She's an ancient sorcerer. So ancient..There's rumors she started The Cycle somehow. She was slain by a group of powerful mages who left her remains, and those of her most loyal disciples deep inside an enchanted tomb. The tomb was buried partially underwater, and sealed with magic to prevent anyone from escaping. Nobody alive to this day truly knows where it is… But before The Cycle...there was a great library in the city of Ark… It was said there was a tome within the deepest vaults of the library that stated where the tomb was located...We need to find that tome. Or the tomb."
