Hermione grinned at his words as she followed him, "Do you really think that you can hold out that long?"
Remus smirked, "My dear, you forget who you're talking to. Remember, I've had to wait years. I think I can manage a few hours," He opened the door and stepped aside, "After you."
"If you say so," Hermione teased as she stepped in the door and looked around, "The sheer difference between how you lived and how Sirius lives. Hard to believe you two are best friends based on that alone."
"Well I'm sorry, love. We can't all be spoiled purebloods like him," Remus replied sarcastically.
"You mean we can't all be very obvious rebels, like him," She teased back, "So, where and what are we grabbing to take?"
"My clothes mostly, photos." He shrugged, "Do you mind packing the photos here in the living room? I'll get to packing my clothes," He kissed her before heading to his bedroom.
Hermione went over and conjured a small box and started packing the photos on the mantel. She chuckled at pictures of him with the other marauders and frowned at others where it seemed he had tried to remove Pettigrew from them. With a shake of her head, she sorted those into a specific pile in the box off to the side. Eventually, she came across some photos of a young Remus with what she could only guess to have been his mother. The sight made her smile as she looked through them. It distracted her enough that she didn't hear Remus come up behind her and she was caught off guard when he wrapped his arms around her.
"Your mother was very pretty," Hermione told him with a smile.
"She was. Her name was Hope. Muggle, but not once did she turn from me and that helped me cope with what I am until I got to Hogwarts," Remus explained.
"But what about your father? How come I don't see any photos of him?" Hermione asked.
Remus frowned, "We weren't close, even before I was bitten. But once I was bitten, he pulled away even more. I was bitten by Greyback to get back at my father for his pushing of anti-werewolf laws and all. While Mum helped me cope, Dad is where I ended up absorbing all the werewolves are monsters rhetoric from. Just because I'd become one, didn't really change his mind or make him rethink things. If you'd seen him, you probably would've assumed he thought it was my own fault I'd gotten bitten."
Hermione turned in his arms and placed her hand on his cheek, "I'm so sorry Remus. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories."
"It's alright Hermione. You're helping me get over all of that," He nuzzled her neck, "Mum would've loved you by the way."
Hermione blushed at the praise, "Sounds like I would've loved her too," She looked over to the pile of photos she'd set aside, "Figured you might want to look through those to see if you actually wanted to take them with, since they all have one particular person in them."
Remus looked over to the pile and nodded in understanding, "I've had years to come to terms with what he did. And years to understand that I will never be able to think about my days at Hogwarts without thinking of him. But at the same time, those are from days before we became active in the war. I think the only picture that all of us were in together after we became active in the war was the one taken of the entire order. Last I checked, Harry and Neville are the only ones with that photo now. I'll look through, but at most I might only take one or two."
Hermione nodded, "Understandable," She kissed his cheek, "Go on. I'll take the rest to the car," She pulled away and grabbed one of the two boxes he'd brought in before heading out to the car.
Remus smiled and watched her go before going to look through the pile of photos. In the end, he grabbed a couple of photos and packed them in the waiting box before closing the box just as Hermione was coming back in to grab his other box.
"Ready?" Hermione asked as she stood up with the one box in her arms.
"Yep," Remus closed the photo box and picked it up, "Let's go."
Hermione nodded and walked out to the car, placing the box in the trunk. She watched Remus close the front door and lock it on his way out and smiled as he set the last one in the trunk. They both got back in the car and Hermione drove them towards her flat. They quickly got Remus' stuff inside and unpacked before deciding to get some snacks and settle in the living room with a movie, cuddling up together. What neither of them expected to happen was the arrival of a visitor via the floo— when they were about halfway through the movie.
"When did this happen?!" A recognizable feminine voice came from by the fireplace, the owner having just as recognizable red hair.
