Dr. Jekyll just sat next to his bed just looking at his son as he seemed to be sleeping peacefully. He placed his head in his hands as he tried to not think about what could happen. Before he could truly run tests he needed Jackson awake or Holt. Either one would work, but knowing how Holt can be, he was afraid if he would truly be out to subdue him or Edward. Dr. Jekyll just sat there as a voice sounded, making him jump and look behind him but not seeing anyone in the doorway he slowly turned to the mirror that he had covered. He sighed again pulling the cover off. Edward stood there tilting his head as he looked at Henry, "your emotions are all over the place," he growled out, "it is very hard to sleep when you are so conflicted," He sighed loudly making Henry flich a bit, he hated when Edward got into his head like this, "do you need me out so you can get your shit together? Or will I finally be able to relax a bit?"
Henry just stared at his other half before placing his forehead on the mirror, "I can't believe we did this to him?"
"What on earth are you talking about?" Edward shouted, "I haven't done shit for over 20 years! Well… to anyone other than our brother-in-law." He chuckled a bit.
Henry fell to his knees, "Why did I think we could be a father?"
Edward just stared at his other half before sitting down and tilting his head, "Jackie and Holt are fine? They are doing better than we ever did," Edward said with a hint of pride in his voice, "It isn't like when we were kids, you knew everything to do to make sure they both felt real," Edward looked up at for a second, "It is better than what we went through and truthfully Holt is just a prankster at this point." He shrugs, "I honestly do not think Holt is capable of hurting anyone to the point they can or will die." He rolls his eyes, "I think he is slowly becoming a person to the point with the right science you might be able to end this nightmare for our family."
Henry looked up at Edward finally taking in his appearance that was so close to his own, "Do you really think I can do that?" He asked as Edward gave him a dull look, "Well of course I do!"
"But the problem is you are dealing with our child and if I so much as think you will hurt them or worst you," Edward growled out, "I will kill you."
Henry was taken aback by his hostility, "You would kill yourself? For Jackson and Holt?"
"I would kill myself to see them safe from you." He stopped for a second, "Safe… from both of us."
Henry stared in disbelief before getting up and slowly wiping off his pants, "Edward I won't hurt either one of them, but they need to be studied," Henry looked over to Jackson as Edward tilted his head, "I am warning you Dr. Jekyll," Edward growled out, "I may be the one seen as a monster, but no one ever sees the true you like I do."
Henry glared at the man in the mirror before pulling a small smile, "Oh Edward, you flatter me, but I have learned from the best."
Jackson wakes with a start on the cold ground, taking a moment to gather his senses he hears a chuckle from next to him. Holt is standing over him making him scoot away from him in shock, "Holt!?" He exclaimed making Holt chuckle again.
"Bout time you woke up," He said, taking a seat across from him.
"Where are we?"
"Your head dummy, where else would you be able to sit in front of me?"
Jackson looked around taking in the field that stretched on endlessly, he felt the warm breeze pass through his hair, the last thing he remembers is talking to Deuce.
"Why are we both here?"
"You tell me, You are the smart one." Holt said shrugging, "I just know you showed up here and I haven't been able to find a way out."
Jackson looked around again, "well I guess I need to wake up, but how?"
"I was hoping we could talk, Jackie." Holt said, almost embarrassed to express this kind of emotion to him. Jackson took a second to stop looking around and turning to Holt. "Why?"
Holt growled a bit, "Cuz I want to know why you are so against me?"
"Against you?!" Jackson shouted, "You have done nothing but make me hate you!"
Holt jumped up, "You do nothing but keep me locked up and trust me it is not always a field I get placed in!" Holt shouted, grabbing Jackson by his shirt pulling him close to his face. "Sometimes it is in a black room with no light and the next time I get out it is only for a few minutes! Just imagine for a second what that feels like?" Holt's grip slowly loosen on Jackson's shirt. "Jackie please...just think, just imagine for one second what it is like? The only emotion I feel is yours...I don't feel real, but I am real." Holt slowly slides down to his knees clinging on to Jackson's shirt. "Please Jackie I am losing my mind. I just...I just need something to cling to...something that I can be a normal monster...I want...I want friends Jackie." He whispered out as Jackson starred in pure shock and confusion as he touched Holt's hand feeling his warmer than normal blue skin. He looked so much like himself, but so different that he knew Holt was real.
Jackson took Holt's hand as he saw the tears running down his face, he felt his sadness, his fear...Jackson knew it wasn't his but he felt it like it was his own,
"I don't know how to do that?" Jackson got down moving his hand from Holt's to his face as he forced him to look at him, their eyes met and for once Jackson felt the sorrow that his other half fully felt, but Jackson glared at him, "It isn't my fault we were born this way! Why should I care what happens to you?" He growled at finally feeling all the time Holt's behavior has cost Jackson dearly, "You never had to take responsibility for anything!"
Holt looked away, "You think they have time to truly punish me Jekyll?"
"I am free to do what I want when I want when I am out," he sings out, "Now you take the blame...is that what you want forever?"
"No! I honestly want you to go away!"
"You think I want to share a face with you?!" Holt shouted, grabbing Jackson by the neck, "You think you have any right to try to tell me how to act when I am only out for what? An hour a two in weeks months?" He started to close his hands tighter around Jackson's neck, "Seriously do you even think before you speak?"
"Holt please…" Jackson started to beg as Holt squeezed tighter, "All I ask is for more time."
He dropped Jackson right before he passed out again, "You are no use to me dead...clearly...or even hurt cuz then I will feel it." Holt turned his back to Jackson with his arms folded, "We aren't getting out of here until we come to some agreement."
Landing on the ground Jackson gasped for air glaring up at Holt, taking a moment to get his breath back Jackson, "If we agree on giving you more time, how will we do that? Separate our emotions more?"
He could see Holt shrug as Jackson sat in a more comfortable position, "How do you know we will be here until we agree on something? This isn't what father said will happen if our trigger changed again...last time I passed out and woke back up to the emotion trigger."
"You were asleep but I wasn't, I figured if we went the emotions route I would get out more, but I was wrong."
"You changed it?! Without me? How? Why is it different now?"
Holt turned around, "We were kids and you were weaker so it was easier, plus I was the main personality at the time." He glared down at Jackson, "But now we are both trying to take control so...here we are." He throws his hands gesturing around him.
Jackson rolled his eyes, "So you want more time out and I want you to behave while you are out...and neither one of us is wanting to agree to those terms."
Holt bit his lip, "Let's say I break less rules that could get us expelled and not reveal us to the normies and you can let me out more."
Jackson cocked an eyebrow at him, "You truly do just want more time out?"
Holt gave him a dull look, "I will let you pick the time of day...I don't really do the whole school thing so you can have that."
"But some time on weekend days or nights?"
Holt gave a small nod, "As for how you will let me out...I am sure something will come to mind...cuz something triggered you to faint into this mess so our body already knows what the trigger will be."
"We just have to find it." Jackson finished as he was thinking about before he fainted.
Jackson laid back as Holt stood over him, "So what was happening before you joined me here?"
He asked as Jackson thought back to Deuce...then to Cleo, but that wasn't what his ears caught on too...it was the music. It seemed to pound in his ears...he felt his body get warm almost like when he transferred before, but it seemed more comforting than that, it wasn't as angry.
Jackson groaned out as Holt poked Jackson with his foot, "Come on Jackie I am getting hungry here."
"It is music, what kind of music I am not sure."
Holt's eyes lit up, "For real? That is awesome! Not only can I be out longer! But I…" Holt jumped for joy as he started to dance.
Jackson got up grabbing Holt by the shoulders stopping his dance, "Holt I am begging you to please don't ruin this for me."
Holt gave Jackson a small evil grin, "Oh, Jekyll you will never truly control me now."
Jackson starred in shock as he saw a flash of light and he woke up in a comfortable feeling bed. He looked over to see his father sitting in a chair looking half asleep. "Hello Father?" Jackson called out softly getting Dr. Jekyll to jump a bit before yelling out, "Jackson! Are you okay?" He started to get his items to double check everything as Jackson pushed him away, "Father I am fine...just a…" He trailed off.
Dr. Jekyll stopped sitting back down in his chair, "What is the new trigger?"
Jackson sat in silence for a moment before saying, "music."
"Music?" Dr. Jekyll asked watching as Jackson just nodded. "That is an odd one."
He sat back in his chair thinking, "I would suggest wearing the bracelet at all times now," He stated getting one from the drawer in the night stand, "I would also warn your friends, they need to know."
Jackson just nodded again as he placed it on and put in the passcode to make sure Holt couldn't get it off.
"How did he take it?"
"He wants friends…" Is all Jackson said before getting up and walking to the door, stopping in the doorway he looked up, "Was it the same you and Dad?"
Dr. Jekyll sat in his chair, "Jackson you and Holt are...different than Edward and me...Edward...well took a lot of convincing to….you know." He trailed off as Jackson stood there a moment more. "So there is a chance...I won't end up like our grandfather?"
Henry just stared at the back of his son...the fear in his voice was true but there was a certain confidence in there that stated he knew that answer already.
"No Jackson, I do not think you will end up like him at all." Nodding he headed out leaving his father in the room not waiting for him to start poking him with needles and asking too many questions. Which surprised Jackson more than anything that his father didn't force him to stay...but they aren't home...the lab was a little far and he is sure he already got what he needed from Jackson as he was out.
