I've been juggling stories and videos with RL, you'd think being at home and not going out much you'd write more but with work and a 7 months course, its hard to find inspiration but this month I've recently got my inspiration back for my stories and videos so hopefully the next chapter won't be far along. A side note - because earlier on in this story, I killed Jabba, I had to make a change here and make it his son's son was kidnapped by the Separatists.
Chapter 32
The Battle of Christophsis Part 2
Whilst Ahsoka was still with Rex, Anakin was still trying to come to grips that Ahsoka was here to be his padawan. He always knew one day he would take her as a padawan however he didn't think it would be so soon. He had only been married for a short time and he will still coming to terms with being a husband, a Jedi Knight and now a General to his own clone squadron and now his father wanted him to take on a padawan.
He managed to slip away for a few minutes away from his brother deciding he needed to talk to his wife. Anakin takes a seat on one of the crates before he takes out his hologram projector and activates it. A smile crosses his face as he sees the holographic image of his wife appear before him. Her hair was in flowing curls and she was wearing a long sleeved white dress and sitting in their living room back on Courscant.
"Ani" she breathes a smile crossing her face "This is quite the surprise" she admits. Anakin feels a smile cross his face seeing her, even on hologram she was still beautiful. He wished they were still together on their honeymoon instead of being on Christophsis. Padme tilts her head curiously sensing Anakin looked puzzled
"Are you okay Ani?" She asks concern in her voice as Anakin takes a deep breath before deciding to not stretch it out any longer. "We've almost taken the planet back from the Separatist but on our last supply drop it appeared father had a surprise arrival on board" he pauses before going on "Father and Master Yoda sent a message through Ahsoka Tano and after the message she revealed she was here to become my padawan learner!" He exclaims "Can you believe that?" He asks "I'm not ready to be a master to a padawan" he tells her as Padme giggles
"Ani, you've known Ahsoka for years" she begins to say titling her head "Remember what you said to me the morning after you saved me?" She asks as Anakin smirks
Flashback
"Well, I gotta go, but I'll see you around, bye" Ahsoka chimes running off as Anakin moves back next to Padme.
"Dad and the council want me to look into taking a padawan learner when I become a Knight and I am thinking of taking Ahsoka when we're both ready" he admits
Padme smiles, feeling touched "Oh that is so lovely. She seems like she will be an excellent learner" she replies before she feels him pull her into his arms, "And I am so happy to have you in my life" he tells her
End of flashback
Anakin shakes his head chuckling to himself "When I said that I didn't expect it to be during a war. I mean, I have a clone squadron to look out for and now they expect me to look and teach an apprentice!" He exclaims however his sudden outburst only makes Padme giggle "Anakin" she grins "I think Ahsoka has one of the best teachers to look out for her" she replies "And given the changes happening in the galaxy right now, we need all the Jedi out there helping to stop the Separatists. Ahsoka needs a master who will look out for her and teach her the ways of the Jedi" she explains adding "And remember the Battle of Naboo, Ahsoka proved herself quite well and you were already looking out for her" she reminds him. Anakin smiles "How is it you always know exactly what I need to hear?" He playfully asks as Padme grins back at him. "I simply know what you want to hear" she replies. She then raises one hand towards him just as Anakin raises one of his hands towards her, their hands touching slightly
Anakin looks straight at her "I miss you" he replies as Padme then replies "Hopefully when you're finish on Christophsis you'll be able to come home" she says just as Anakin heard sudden shouts and clone troopers rushing past. Anakin sighs "Looks like the battle is back on" he says "Be careful Anakin" she replies before he shuts off the hologram pocketing it back into his pocket before he rushes back out to the command centre where Ahsoka and Rex were already with Obi Wan with the command console
"The shield generator is somewhere in this area" he hears Obi Wan explain as Anakin reaches them "Alright, what's happening" he says as Ahsoka and Rex both look over at hm as Obi Wan speaks up "Ahsoka and Rex found out that the Separatists have installed a shield generator which is protecting them from our machines and blasters and it's slowly increasing the diameter" he informs him as Obi Wan points to a section on the map "And keeping it just ahead of their troops" he explains as Anakin then asks "So heavy cannons are going to useless against that?" He asks before he had a thought "Perhaps as they get closer, I suppose we could try to draw them into the buildings" he suggests as Obi Wan places a hand under his chin
"That might level the playing field a bit" he agrees as Ahsoka then speaks up "If that shield's gonna be such a problem, why don't we just take it out?" She asks as Rex shakes his head "Easier said than done" he admits as Anakin then realised that Ahsoka was actually onto something. "Actually, I, agree with her" he reveals "Someone has to get to that shield generator and destroy it, that's the key" he tells them as Obi Wan then smirks
"Right then" he says "Maybe you two can tiptoe through the enemy lines and solve this particular problem together" he hints. Ahsoka, eager to gain experience, smirks "Can do Master Kenobi" she grins as Anakin decides to step in. If he was going to be a master, he needed to start taking charge "I'll decide what we do" he informs her as Obi Wan then goes on "If Rex and I can engage them here" he tells them pointing them to a section on the map adding "You two might have a chance to get through their line undetected here"he suggests before Rex decided to point out
"They won't have much time. The droids far outnumber us, so our ability to street fight is limited without the use of heavy cannons" he informs them "They will march forward under the protection of their shields until they are right on top of our cannons then they'll blow them away"Rex warns as Ahsoka smirks "We'll figure out a way" she promises them eager to get moving before she looks up at Anakin "Come on master, let's go" she replies as Anakin moves to follow her
"If we survive this Snips, you and I are gonna have a talk" he informs her. Obi Wan and Rex both watched them leave. Rex couldn't help but comment on Anakin and Ahsoka's new bond. "They make quite a pair, don't they sir?" He asks adding "You think they have a chance?" As Obi Wan looks back down at the map "They better" he only replies "If they can't turn off that shield generator before it reaches the heavy cannons, they'll be no escape for any of us" he concludes as they prepared to carry out their part in the battle.
Meanwhile, far from the planet of Christophsis, amongst the trees of the planet Teth, a squadron of clones which had been sent there by Master Windu had managed to find the location of one Rotta the Hutt's young son was being held after being kidnapped from Tatooine. Their search had brought them to the base of a large supposedly abandoned monastery. It was a long way up and the squadron knew they'd need a large team
"What's the status?" One clone trooper asked his companion before he responds "It looks like those bounty hunters went up there" he informs him indicating the temple up the mountain as the clone trooper nodded "Contact General Windu" he tells him "Tell him we found the hutt" he concludes. However they had no idea just what was about to happen and that the kidnapping of a hutt was just the beginning of a trap for a certain Jedi family.
On the planet Courscant, monitoring the battles spread out across the galaxy, Masters Windu, Jinn and Master Yoda were then surprised when the comm chimed and they both saw the hologram of a clone trooper appear before them. "Yes, Commander?" Mace asks as the clone trooper straightened "We've discovered that Rotta the Hutt has also hired bounty hunters to track down his son" he informs him going on "And we follow them to a monastery on planet Teth" before he then adds "We feel it's where Rotta's son is being held" he states "But it's too heavily fortified for us to do anything alone, sir" he warns.
Mace nods before he replies "Commander, stay out of sight and await further orders" he instructs. The trooper nods "Will do General" he replies before the hologram fades leaving the two Jedi Masters alone once more.
Master Yoda then looks up at Mace "Unusual, it is, a problem Obi Wan has subduing the droid army" Yoda states as Mace nods "I'll take care of it" he replies pressing the comm once more seeing an officer appear in hologram "Get me Admiral Wurtz. I need three of his star cruisers" he informs him "Yes General" he replies. Qui Gon and Mace both look down as they heard Yoda speak up again
"Greater than we think, this mystery may be" Yoda points out as Qui Gon then speak up "Master Yoda and I will go with the fleet to aid Obi Wan and Anakin finish up on Christophsis" he informs him before they both headed out of the control room to prepare for their journey.
Whilst back on Christophsis, Ahsoka was waiting patiently for Anakin who was observing the Separatist base from their high vantage point through his electro binoculars. Ahsoka, tired of the silence, speaks up "So, what's the plan?" She asks hearing Anakin laugh "I thought you were the one with the plan" he simply replies as Ahsoka starts to pace behind him. "No, I'm the one with enthusiasm" she corrects him "You're the one with the experience, which I'm looking forward to learning from" she insists before she sees Anakin go on"Well, first, we need to get behind that shield then get past their tank lines" he states as Ahsoka tilts her head "Why don't we go around?" She asks "Outflank them?" She asks as Anakin shook his head "That'd take too long" he tells her as Ahsoka tries another suggestion
"Sneak through the middle, then?" She asks as Anakin shakes his head once more "Impossible…unless you can turn yourself into a droid" he pauses as he starts to realise he might have an idea. Ahsoka sighs "Alright, you win" she sighs "My first session will be to wait while you come up with the answer" she admits as Anakin then smirks "Well, the wait's over. I've got a plan" he announces before he turns to head down the tower back to the ground to carry out his new plan.
Meanwhile, in an attempt to try and weaken the shield Obi Wan, with his electro binoculars watched as their tanks attempted to hit the shields once more with no effect. "That shield is certainly putting a crimp in my day!" He calls out to Captain Rex who looks over at the Jedi General. "It's no use, sir!" He agrees "Even at full power, the cannon doesn't affect it" he informs him as Obi Wan sighs "All right, Rex, it was worth a try" he admits "Tell the men to fall back!" He orders as Rex gives the signal to the squadron to fall back away from the shield.
At the same time, whilst Obi Wan, Rex and the clones were falling back away from the shield, Anakin and Ahsoka were making some progress. Having grabbed an empty crate they hid under the crate in the middle of the path. As the droids and their vehicles came closer with the energy shield to protect them, it now allowed for the crate with Anakin and Ahsoka underneath it to be inside the shield.
Unfortunately Ahsoka couldn't see how exactly this plan was going to work.
"This is a stupid plan!" Ahsoka hisses "We should fight these guys instead of just sneaking around" she argues however Anakin, remaining composed only responded "Except for the fact that their deflective energy shield just passed over us" he reveals adding "If you can't cross their lines, let their lines cross you" he explains. Ahsoka sighs "If you say so" she only mutters as they slowly began to move the crate slowly down the path towards the generator hoping they could destroy it before being seen by any droids.
As the shield continued to move down the path, it soon passed over Obi Wan and the clones as well. Obi Wan and Rex were crouched behind a crate. "We're inside the shield" Obi Wan tells him adding "Just keep away from those cannons" he instructs him.
Meanwhile, continuing their way towards the generator, Ahsoka, starting to feel like they had succeed smiles "I think we made it past all of them master. We may pull this off yet" she whispers with a grin as Anakin knew they weren't out of the clear yet. "We still have a ways to go before we get to the generator station" he warns her as Ahsoka then groans once more "Do we still need this thing?" She asks referring to the crate. "I can't take it anymore" she hisses having grown tired of crouching, on her knees and crawling on the ground. "I have to stand up" she admits leaving Anakin with no choice but to get to his feet, holding the crate higher with their hands allowing them to walk.
"You have got to be careful!" Anakin warns her "You never know what you're going to run into" he adds right before they hit something hard causing them to fall back onto the ground, letting go of the crate as Anakin and Ahsoka both see one droideka turn to fire. "You see what I mean" Anakin nervously tells Ahsoka. They leapt to their feet, lightsabers to their hands, as Anakin's blue lightsaber hums to life followed by Ahsoka's green lightsaber at the moment the droideka begin to fire.
However, unlike normal regular battle droids, droidekas had their own shield making them more harder to destroy. Anakin and Ahsoka deflected several blaster bolts from the droideka however it was having little effect. "We can't beat it's shield!" Ahsoka calls out as Anakin had another idea. "Run!" He simply replies confusing her "What?" She asks "Jedi don't run!" She argues as Anakin was becoming frustrated "I said, run!" He orders
Ahsoka, deciding it was best to not argue anymore, turns to run as Anakin follows her, just as the droideka stopped firing and rolled into ball formation to follow them. It was exactly what Anakin had been counting on. "Ahsoka, stop!" He calls out as Ahsoka sighs "Make up your mind!" She calls back as Anakin snaps back "I said, stop!" He calls out to her.
Ahsoka came to a sudden hold, lightsaber in a defensive position, turns just as Anakin spins around, his lightsaber swiping underneath the droideka just as Ahsoka fellows his move slicing the rest of the droideka. Anakin nods, moving over towards her "Good, you take direction well" he informs her as they continued on towards the generator.
Hoping that Anakin and Ahsoka were having better luck getting to the generator, Obi Wan, Rex and the squadron were attempting to keep the droids away from the generator and on them. Rex runs back down the past, leaping over another crate to where Obi Wan was in position. He then turns towards Obi Wan "They're right behind us, sir!" He calls out "They wiped out most of my unit" he informs him adding "We had to pull out of there" he warns
"The shield has almost reached the heavy cannons" he explains "We're not gonna be able to stop them sir" he informs him. Obi Wan then has an idea "Move your troops back to the heavy cannons" he instructs "Do everything you can to protect them" he orders 'I'll delay the droids" he informs him as Rex looks back at him surprised "But…" Rex tries to argue as Obi Wan cuts him off "That is an order, Captain!" He warns watching Rex, still feeling unsure about his new orders, begin to lead his men back towards the heavy cannons leaving Obi Wan to face the Separatist army.
At the same time, Anakin and Ahsoka were climbing over the pieces of broken path before they at last had reached the shield generator. Ahsoka looks up at her friend "There it is!" She exclaims in delight pointing to the shield generator. They were within metres of the shield generator, they hoped this would be an easy task.
Obi Wan, meanwhile, had found himself now surrounded by Separatist battle droids and super battle droids. Obi Wan remains in his defensive position as they enclosed around him right before he heard the sound of a tank approaching him before he sees a figure emerge from the top of the tank. It was General Loathsom. "You must be the infamous General Kenobi" he spoke in firm voice.
Obi Wan stares right back at him "I surrender" he simply replies as General Loathsom snaps "Now, order your troops to stand down" he warns him as Obi Wan then uses the force to lift pieces of debris as make shift furniture bringing it down in front of them "General, have a seat" Obi Wan simply replies confusing the General. "Have you gone mad?" He asks tilting his head confused
Obi Wan, knowing he needed to keep General Loathsom's attention on him long enough for Anakin and Ahsoka to bring the shield down shrugs "I've conceded the battle" he confesses "Now we simply have to negotiate the terms of surrender" insists as General Loathsom tilts his head in surprise "Don't try any of your tricks, Jedi" he warns as Obi Wan innocently shrugs "Surely there's no reason we can't be civilised about this" he suggests just as General Loathsom began to exit his tank
"Tis a rare honor to be able to meet one's opponent face to face" Obi Wan compliments adding "You're a legend throughout the Inner Core" he smirks taking a seat as General Loathsom takes his seat opposite him "Thank you. The donor is all mine" he replies "I'm so glad you decided to surrender" he smirks. Obi Wan shrugs "Well, at some point, one must accept the reality of the situation" he admits. Obi Wan clears his throat "Might we have some refreshments?" He asks the General
General Loathsom then turns to one of the battle droids beside him "You!" He snaps "Bring us something liquid!" He snaps seeing the droid move off as Obi Wan nods "Thank you. This shouldn't take long" he replies. He really hoped Anakin and Ahsoka would have the energy shield taken down.
Whilst unaware that more reinforcements were coming to their aid, as Republic assault ships emerged from hyperspace slowly making its way towards Christophsis where unfortunately there was a Separatist blockade. Qui Gon, Yoda and Admiral Yularen stood at the front of the bridge of the ship looking out the window as one trooper turns to them.
"We're approaching Christophsis, sir" he informs him "The Separatist blockade is holding position" he informs them as Qui Gon looks over at him "Deploy the fleet, have the cruisers protect the transports" he informs him seeing the soldier nod "Yes General" he replies as Master Yoda then speaks up "Admiral, hurry we must" he warns him "If we are to aid Generals Kenobi and Skywalker" as Admiral Yularen looks down at the Jedi master "It will not be easy to breach the blockade Master Yoda" he replies adding "It's what stopped our relief ships before" he reminds him as Yoda looks over at Qui Gon before he speaks "Last time, not as many ships you had, get pass it this time we will" he informs him as the ships continued towards the blockade.
As Anakin and Ahsoka stealthily approached the generator, Anakin knew they needed to still remain on alert. "Stay close" he whispers to Ahsoka "We've gotta be careful" he warns her right at the moment Ahsoka suddenly rushes out sprinting towards the generator "Come on!" She calls out as Anakin tries to stop her "Wait!" He calls out as Ahsoka looks back at him "Why? We're almost there, it's alright!" She tells him right at the moment she accidentally triggers one of the beacons which have been spread out around the generator activating it. as Anakin starts to follow her "I said, wait!" He calls out to her seeing Ahsoka stumble back onto the ground
Ahsoka then feels the ground start to shake realising that the beacons she accidentally activated were hidden LR-57 combat droids. Anakin is quick to ignite his lightsaber as he picks up his speed towards them. "Forget about the droids!" He calls out to her "Set those charges!" He orders as he starts to slice through the LR-57 droids as Ahsoka manages to slip past them crawling up the generator. With Anakin fending off the combat droids, Ahsoka begins to place the charges on the generator, unfortunately she doesn't see a lone LR-57 combat droid appear behind her ready to fire.
However, Ahsoka was faster and slides underneath it, igniting her lightsaber ready to attack. Ahsoka slices the middle of the droid before she flips over its head landing behind it before she slices off its head forcing pushing it away from her, however the head rolls too close to Anakin and it activates more LR-57 to emerge. Ahsoka cringes. "Sorry!" She calls out as Anakin looks over at her annoyed
"Whose side are you on, anyway!?" He angrily exclaims as Ahsoka sighs turning back to the generator "Setting the charges" she only replies showing that she still remembered the job at hand.
The Separatist army continued to advance towards the remaining clone army who were determined to keep them back. The droids continued to march under the protective of the energy shield while clone troopers and R2 moved back into new positions before the clones fell into new positions to fire back.
Rex, who was holding his own position, then had one of his men crouch down beside him "Sir!" He calls "General Kenobi's been captured" he informs him "There's no one else left" he warns him however Rex knew both Obi Wan and Anakin would want him to keep holding the line "We've got to hold out!" He only replies "We can't let that shield reach the cannons. "Keep fighting!" He orders turning back to the advancing droids.
Ahsoka had just finished setting the charges when she turns back to notice Anakin becoming overwhelmed by the combat droids backing him further away. "I could use a little help!" He calls out to her. It was then Ahsoka noticed that he was backing towards a broken wall, half of it still standing with a hole in the middle. "Skyguy!" Ahsoka calls out "Don't move!" She warns before she lifts her hands, closing her eyes, she begins to use the force to bring the wall down! Anakin turns his head seeing the wall moving behind him "What?" He mutters seeing the wall coming down towards him! "No, no, no!" He shields him as the wall comes down however Ahsoka had managed to bring the wall down so that Anakin was protected by the hole in the wall and the combat droids were instantly flatted.
Anakin slowly lifted his head looking around to find he was still standing and the droids were all destroyed. Anakin stared straight over at Ahsoka "You could have gotten me killed!" He angrily snaps just as Ahsoka moves over towards him "I know what I'm doing!" She snaps back as Anakin shakes his head "I had everything under control" he reminds her brushing past her as Ahsoka looks over at him shocked. "I just saved your life!"
Without their Jedi Generals, the clone troopers were struggling to keep the droids from advancing closer. "There's too many of them!" One soldier tried "Fall back, fall back!" As another soldier is shot by incoming fire. "Man down!" Cried another soldier "Medic, we need a medic here!" Another exclaims. They hoped the Jedi would soon have this battle over because they didn't know how much longer they would last.
Whilst at the same time, Obi Wan as stalling for him so that Anakin and Ahsoka could have the generator down. He stirs his tea once more before he takes a sip before he clears his throat "And, of course, once you've taken custody of my troops, arrangements will need to be made for their food and shelter" he explains "Tell me, do you have enough supplies….." He was suddenly cut off by a frustrated General Loathsom
"Enough of this!" he angrily snaps "You are stalling!" he snaps as Obi Wan only chuckles "Nonsense. General, there is are numerous details to be discussed" he simply replies right before the General only abruptly knocks the table and its contents to the ground. "Seize him!" he orders to his droids as two super battle droids stepped forward hoisting Obi Wan up by his arms.
"Unless you call off your troops right now, I will have no choice but to destroy you" he warns him as Obi Wan looks behind him seeing the energy shield still activated. "Truthfully, I was hoping your shied would be knocked out by now" he admits.
At the same time…..
Anakin then suddenly turns back to Ahsoka "Did you get the charges set?" He asks her in an abrupt tone as Ahsoka stares back at him "Yes" she only replies as Anakin then asks "Then what are you waiting for?" As Ahsoka says nothing and presses a button on the comm on her wrist before they then saw the generator explode and the shield begin to disappear.
Down below, the droids which had been relying on the shield for cover, suddenly halted as the shield began to disappear "Uh oh" the droids mutter.
Obi Wan, still being held up by the droids, sees the shield disappearing. Anakin and Ahsoka had done it. "Oh well" he smirks force pushing the droids which held him away before he flips into the air, lightsaber in hand as he lands behind the General. He holds his lightsaber to the General's neck as the droids turned their blasters towards Obi Wan.
"Don't fire!" General Loathsom cries as Obi Wan smirks "Something appears to have happened to your shield General" he points out at the same time Rex turns back towards his squad. "All cannons, fire on those tanks!" He orders as the tanks began to fire as the droids still stood confused about the shield. "What happened to the shield?" One droid asked before they were all blown up by the tanks.
Obi Wan, with his lightsaber still at the General's neck, then hears his comm chime, he activates it to see the hologram of Admiral Yularen. "General Kenobi, if you can hear me, we're through the blockade" he informs him "The Separatist armada is in retreat. Your reinforcement should be landing in a moment" he assures them just as Obi Wan looks up to see several gunships flying into the city just as one lands meters from Obi Wan's position. The gunship doors open to reveal several more clone troopers and Master Yoda and his father. "Your timing is perfect, Master Yoda, father" he tells them.
Back up at the shield generator, Anakin watched as the gunships flew over the city, feeling a smile to cross his face. He then turns to see Ahsoka sitting on the edge of the generator's platform silent. He sensed she was feeling upset over what happened during the fight. He moves over and takes a seat beside her.
"You're reckless, little friend" he tells her. He still couldn't believe that the youngling he knew growing up, was here before him to be his apprentice. "You never would have made it as Obi Wan's padawan" he tells her as Ahsoka, still unable to look over at Anakin, lowers her head even more as Anakin then smiles. Padme's words in his head "I think Ahsoka has one of the best teachers to look out for her" He may have not been entirely ready but he knew Padme was right.
"But you might make it as mine" he confesses seeing Ahsoka perk up, her eyes widen as she looks over at him, bright eyed and a wide smile making him smile back at her. "Come on" he tells her as they moved over to the gunship which was landing nearby to pick them up. Rex was inside the gunship waiting for them. "Great job, General Skywalker" he says as they enter the ship "You, too kid" he says to Ahsoka seeing her give a small smile as the gunship takes off once more to meet up with Obi Wan.
Minutes later the gunship landed back at the control centre where Anakin saw that not only Obi Wan was there waiting but so was their father and Master Yoda. Anakin and Ahsoka both got out of the gunship. "Thanks for the ride, Rex" he tells him "Anytime sir" he nods. Anakin and Ahsoka both moved over towards Obi Wan, Qui Gon and Yoda were waiting.
"Obi Wan" he smiles "Father" he bows "Master Yoda" as he and Ahsoka bowed respectfully to the two Jedi masters. Yoda looks up at Anakin "Trouble, you have, with your new padawan, I hear" he speaks as Anakin looks over at his brother.
"I was explaining the situation to Master Yoda" he tells him as Anakin tilts his head "Really?" He asks before Master Yoda goes on "If not ready for a padawan, you are, then perhaps Obi Wan, we can…" he begins to say as Anakin quickly cuts in. "Now, wait a minute" he begins to say "I admit Ahsoka is a little rough around the edges but we've already shared encounters where she has proven herself however with a great deal of training and patience, she might amount to something" he assures them as Qui Gon nods before he speaks up
"Then she will go with you to the Tech system" he informs him as Anakin looks over at his father in shock. "Teth?" That's wild space, the droid army isn't even in that sector" he points out as Yoda then explains further "Kidnapped Rotta the Hutt's son has been" as Anakin blinks. Given their past with Jabba and the bounty they put on them afterwards, Anakin was unsure the hutts would even want their help. "You want me to rescue Rotta's son?' He asks. Obi Wan remains silent as he looks over at their father. Over the years, it was not lost on both of them how much Anakin did not like the hutts. Qui Gon speaks up, knowing he could try to explain it more clearly to his son
"Anakin, we'll need the Hutts' allegiance to give an as advantage over Dooku and Xanatos" he reminds him as Master Yoda then goes on "Negotiate the treaty with Rotta, Obi Wan will" he points out going on "Find the renegades that hold Rotta's son, your mission will be, Anakin" he tells him. Ahsoka then tries to encourage him "Come on master" she smiles "It doesn't sound that hard" she insists "I'll find Rex and get the troops organised" she tells him before she hurries off. Anakin, Obi Wan and Qui Gon all watch her leave.
"Don't worry Anakin" his father said "Just teach her everything I taught you and she'll turn out fine" he reminds him as Anakin then had a thought "You know…." He begins to reply "Something makes me think this was your idea from the start" he warns him as Obi Wan quietly sniggers as they watched Anakin follow Ahsoka before he hears his father speak up again
"Let's just hope Anakin is ready for this responsibility" he says as Master Yoda nods "Ready he is, to teach an apprentice but it will also be a greater challenge to be a strong teacher" he informs them as Qui Gon nods as Obi Wan then speaks "If I've got to make a deal with Rotta the hutt…I'd best be on my way" he tells them before he moves over to his starfighter to set course for Tatooine.
Meanwhile, Xanatos was becoming impatient - all he had encountered so far was bounty hunters which had been sent by Rotta the Hutt but still no Jedi. Surely it had reached the Republic by now about the kidnapping of the huttlet. He just wanted to see the end of his former master's family, the ones he was casted aside for. They got their father while his father was turned against him. Xanatos stood at his place from inside the monastery watching the droids carrying out the remains of the bounty hunters after he disposed them and ordered them to be sent back to Rotta the Hutt.
He hoped that would bring the Jedi to him sooner and then he would break his old master's heart but ensuing the deaths of his precious sons.
On route to the planet Teth, Anakin met up with the clone squadron that Master Windu had sent to the planet Teth back on their ship. Anakin was meeting up with two of the soldiers in the hanger "Lieutenant, did the kidnappers see you?" He asks them as the first scout shook his head "No, sir, we're the best scouts in the regiment" he informs him as Anakin then asks "What about the bounty hunters?" He asks "Are they still down there?" He adds
The first scout shook his head "I don't think so. We haven't seen them in a while" he replies as Anakin goes on"Well, what are we up against?" He asks as the second scout answers "Looks like at least two droid battalions protecting a monastery. It's heavily fortified sir" he warns "You won't be able to land there" he tells him. Anakin gives them a nod "Good work. Get some rest" he tells them. He watches the two scouts move away just as he hears chatter not too far from where he was standing.
As Anakin moves closer towards the group he sees a group of clones, Rex, along with R2 and another droid standing around Ahsoka listening to her. Anakin then hears one of the clones speak up "That sounds like a lot, even for a Jedi" he tells her going on "I heard you were surrounded by droids" he reminds her "How did you ever get the shield down?" He asks. Anakin remains silent unable to believe his ears. Ahsoka was re telling their mission on Christophsis!
Ahsoka smirks "Okay" she starts "So, there's a wall behind him with a hole in the middle" she explains "So I pull the wall down on top of the droids, destroying them and saving the General" she proudly informs them as the clones start laughing as Rex looks over at Anakin. "Is that true, sir?" He asks as Anakin tilts his head "Well….." He sighs "Most of it" he mutters before he looks around at them "All right, men, we still got a job to do" he reminds them as Rex agrees "Yes sir" he replies "You heard the General, move it!" He orders "All right back to business" another echoes as the clones dispersed leaving Anakin, Ahsoka and R2.
Anakin falls into line beside Ahsoka "Would this be a good time to teach you that a Jedi is humble, my young padawan?' He asks as Ahsoka waves a hand "Sorry" she innocently replies "Just trying to keep the boys inspired is all" she insists as Anakin shakes his head. They had been friends for the last few years now but Anakin was still coming to terms that he was now the offical master to his little Jedi princess.
While Anakin and Ahsoka were on their way to Teth, Obi Wan had made the journey to Tatooine. Obi Wan landed his fighter just a short distance from Rotta's palace. Obi Wan had never thought to be back here. The last time he was here on Tatooine he was nearly killed by Jabba and forced to see Hannah imprisoned by the hutt. Jabba was long dead and Obi Wan hoped his son did not have a long memory.
R4 beeped at Obi Wan from his place in the ship as Obi Wan smirks "Don't worry, I'm sure Rotta's in a good mood" he assures him before he got out of his ship. Obi Wan proceeded towards the palace before the giant doors opened. Obi Wan attempted to block the last time he and Anakin snuck through these doors before he was knocked out. The red protocol droid was coming out to greet him "We should not keep the wise and powerful Rotta waiting" they spoke in a clear robotic voice. Obi Wan smirks "I wouldn't dream of it" he replies as he follows the droid inside where he was led down to the throne room.
The throne room hadn't changed much since he was last here luckily for Obi Wan most of those who were here the first time died by his and Anakin's lightsabers or were blown up on the sail barge and Rotta didn't seem to realise that standing before him, was someone who was connected to his father's death. Obi Wan stood before him before he clears his throat to speak
"Mighty Rotta, one of our most powerful Jedi is on his way to rescue your son" he informs him "We will not let you down" he assures him as Rotta then spoke in a deep voice in his native huttese before the protocol droid translated his words "The most gracious Rotta has one more small condition" they begin to say "He demands you bring back the slime who kidnapped his little punky muffin" they insists as Obi Wan suppresses the urge to smirk "Punky?' Obi Wan simply responds as Rotta speaks once more in huttese
"Dead or alive" the droid translates as Rotta then speaks again leaving the droid to translate it "If you do not succeed, Count Dooku and his associate along with their droid army will" they warn. Obi Wan blinks. Associate? That had to have been meaning Xanatos. This mission had just been made more personal for his family.
Anakin, Ahsoka and their clone squadron had made it to Teth and were now secure in gunships which were flying in the upper atmosphere of the planet towards the Monastery thanks to the Scout's coordinates. Anakin and Ahsoka with their cloaks and hoods over their faces looked down at the hologram of Obi Wan.
"All right, Anakin here's the story" he explains "Rotta has given us only one planetary rotation to get his son back home to Tatooine safe and sound" he informs him as Anakin smirks "Won't take us that long brother" he promises him. Obi Wan then goes on "Well, take extreme care" he warns "We have no idea who's holding Rotta's son" he adds "When I've finished negotiations with him, I will join you" he assures him as the gunships continued to fly towards the monastery.
At the same time, within the Monastery
The Separatist battle droids were holding their positions and one droid had just noticed through their scanners of the incoming gunships. "There's something coming" the droid reports "I can't make out what it is" he confesses as another droid joins them "I don't like it. Prepare to attack" he orders as the first droid looks over at the droid "What if it's one of ours?" They asks as the droid shakes its thin head
"Shut up Sergeant, I'm in command here!" He reminds him "Roger Roger" the droid replied before they began to prepare to fire in the direction of the gunships.
Back on the gunship
Anakin looks down seeing how quiet Ahsoka was, he also sensed some nerves coming from his friend and new apprentice. Anakin then sees Ahsoka glance up at him. "Stay close to me, if you can" he teases "It won't be a problem master" she replies adding "Remember, I hardly left your side on the Battle of Naboo" she reminds him as Anakin then reminds her
"And if I recall you failed to stay with Padme and the Queen" he reminds her adding "These aren't practices Ahsoka" he tells her as Ahsoka grins "I know and like on Naboo, I'll be there to save your life" she teases. Anakin shakes his head but gives a small smile right as the warning lights began to flash inside the gunship. They were approaching their destination however they had no idea what was in store for them.
Next time: Anakin and Ahsoka's time on Teth proves to be harder than they expected as they discover there is more than just a kidnapping in place here as Anakin comes face to face to Xanatos once more, Obi Wan joins the battle on Teth while Padme discovers another player in the huttlet's kidnapping and they mean to ensure her family's deaths.
