Chapter 13
Welcome to Beacon fools
Two Bullheads can be seen flying by as many people can be seen on the paths around Beacon. Ozpin and Glynda can be seen looking out the windows.
"Ironwood certainly loves bringing his work wherever he travels." Glynda said as she survey the ships
"Well, running an academy and a military makes him a busy man. But yes, those are a bit of an eyesore." A chirping beep sounds repeatedly as Ozpin turns to see a hollow-message "Access Requested" on his desk. "Come in." He said.
General Ironwood can be seen exiting as the doors open up for him, Ozpin then approaches his friend to greet him.
"Ozpin!" The general cordially called his friend.
Ozpin stands at attention.
"Hello, General." Ozpin called his friend.
"Please, drop the formalities." Both of them approach and shake hands as Glynda also approaches them. Ironwood then continued on as Glynda approached both of them.
"It's been too long. And Glynda! It has certainly been too long since we last met."
"Oh, James!" Glynda gives a personable wave and then drops all pleasantries.
"I'll be outside." She said to them with annoyance in her voice as she walked out of Ozpin's office.
"Well, she hasn't changed a bit."
"So, what in the world has brought you all the way down from Atlas?" Ozpin asked as he turned to his desk.
Ozpin picks up a mug and a kettle and poured the mug as he speaks. "Headmasters don't typically travel with their students, for the Vytal Festival." Ozpin then turns and offers the cup to Ironwood.
The general accepts the mug offered to him by Ozpin and both of them then clinked their mugs against each other as Ironwood continues.
"Well, you know how much I love Vale this time of year." Ironwood says as he pulls out a canteen from his inside coat pocket and pours its contents into his mug.
"Besides, with you hosting, I thought that this might be a good opportunity for us to catch up." The general explained his reasons as Ozpin walked around to his desk, kettle and a new mug in hand.
Ozpin then sat down and poured himself some coffee as he spoke again. "I can certainly appreciate the quality time between friends, however, a small fleet outside my window has me concerned."
"Well, concern is what brought them here." Ironwood adds in.
"I understand that travel between kingdoms has become increasingly difficult."
"Oz, you and I both know why I brought those men."
Ozpin takes a sip and sets down his mug before speaking again. "We are in a time of peace. Shows of power like this are just going to give off the wrong impression."
"But if what Qrow said is true…" Ironwood muttered.
"If what Qrow said is true, then we will handle it tactfully." Ozpin emphasizes it as he holds up an index finger before continuing on.
"It's the Vytal Festival. A time to celebrate unity and peace. So I suggest that you not scare people by transporting hundreds of soldiers halfway across the continent."
"I'm just being cautious." The general countered Ozpin's argument
"As am I. Which is why we will continue to train the best Huntsmen and Huntresses we can."
"Believe me, I am." Ironwood turns and walks away. He stops near the door and looks back at Ozpin and continues on.
"But ask yourself this. Do you honestly believe your children can win a war?" James questioned Ozpin as the door opened to show Jade entering in.
"Headmaster! Who thought it was a good idea to…" Jade yelled out only to stop when he saw that Ozpin was not alone as both men looked at Jade.
Ironwood's eyes widen when he recognizes Jade and turns to Ozpin to ask him for answers on why this 'mercenary' is in his school.
"Ozpin, why is this criminal present in your School?" The general accusingly asked Ozpin as Jade ignored him and walked towards Ozpin.
"James, Mr Grayson is one of my new additions to my school."
"A reluctant one at that." Jade snarked as he folded his arms and glanced at the general.
"You can't be serious Ozpin; Jade Grayson was responsible for numerous raids against Atlesian property by himself in Argus! He should have been arrested."
"To be fair, general... I was doing what I was paid to do, and besides, your bots need working on if I can trash them that easily… give them some armour or something, so I can't one-shot them in the future." Jade just added fuel to the fire as general Ironwood glared at Jade and was about to retort only for Ozpin to interrupt.
"Mr Grayson that is enough! What brought you here?" Ozpin asked Jade.
"Well multiple reasons, first, why are there so many ships from Atlas here? second, I need to talk to you personally but… your friend here needs to leave." Jade told Ozpin as he pointed with his finger at the general from Atlas while his arms were still folded.
"The ships here are for security Jade Grayson. Though I can't understand why Ozpin accepted you into Beacon." Ironwood answered Jade before questioning him.
"Well to answer your question, general… Ozpin got my team, team RWBY, to bring me to him, I resisted and so they got lucky and managed to knock me unconscious. When I woke up, Ozpin offered me two choices: join his school, or go to jail for a very long time. As you can no doubt guess, I chose the first one and now, I am officially the fifth member of team RWBY. So that's your answer general." Jade answered the general, Jade shrugs when Ironwood gave Jade a quizzed look.
"I see… We are going to have a talk about this later Ozpin. I am needed elsewhere."
"Very well then James, I wish you farewell."
"Same to you Ozpin." Ironwood says back to Ozpin as he leaves the room.
As the door closed shut, Jade let out a huff as he turned back to Ozpin.
"Mr Grayson, you said that you needed to see me personally, so what is it you need to tell me?" Ozpin turned his gaze back on his student.
"Ozpin, I got another vision that I think you would be interested in."
"Why are you telling me this? Don't you distrust me?"
"Oh no, I hate your guts sometimes, but, I am willing to put aside my distaste for you as we have more important things to worry about."
"Then let's not waste any more time."
"Glad we are on the same page, ok. There are three students that MUST be kept their eyes on."
"And they are?"
"Cinder Fall, Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai." Jade gave a pause before continuing on.
"These three are also the same people that tried to employ me years ago. Cinder didn't take my rejection of her offer kindly and tried to kill me on the meeting table, I managed to escape and went into hiding. Though not unscathed."
"Cinder Fall, Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai. These three are from Haven academy…" Ozpin muttered.
"If my visions are accurate, then yes. These three definitely should not be students. If I may, headmaster."
"Yes? Mr Grayson?"
"I think it's best that you don't tell your fellow headmaster. Who knows, he may be a traitor to you by letting these three scums enter his school, or that he is a coward and caves in easily. I still don't know why they are here though..."
"Is that all Mr Grayson?"
"That is all, headmaster. Have a good day." Jade waved as he walked back to his team in the libraries.
"I can't help wondering if I did the right thing to keep an eye on Cinder Fall…" Jade can't help but wonder if his decisions were the correct one as he walked down the hallway only to stop when he heard a familiar voice behind him.
"So you used my information and gave it to Ozpin? Not saying that it is wrong but, well, he is a politician, he is too passive, he would not act when there's a chance. James Ironwood the general, he is too… uh, hasty. If I'm right… he tends to jump the gun quite often."
"Raphael?" Jade asked as he turned around to see a familiar figure behind him, though he is semi-opaque and wearing Jade's casual outfit.
"In the flesh, well sort of, I'm just an image in your head so you can just talk in your head and I can know what you are saying. And no, you are not hallucinating."
"Ok then, how are you out here? Didn't you tell me that you are stuck inside us?" Jade questioned Raphael as both of them walked towards the library.
"How am I here? Well, it seems that the barrier that is meant to lock me away in you is weakening substantially. As a result of that, I can appear outside you, but I can't interact with the world and no one can see me except you."
"So does that mean that you can stay outside us indefinitely?"
"Well… not exactly but I would once in a while need to go back inside you. Ok that sounded wrong but I basically need to recharge myself. Staying out here actually exhausts me out."
"Raphael, I got a question," Jade asked as Raphael nodded that he was paying attention before Jade continued.
"Did you play a part in my faster recovery rate? When I woke up, all of my wounds were healed."
"Yea, I did that, What I did was that I increased your healing rate with an addition of my own aura in there. This resulted in wounds that would usually take weeks but will now take a few days at max. I'm still exploring it, though I fear this is exactly what the god of light wants me to do."
"I see… Well thanks for getting me back into shape faster… Were you there when I was making out with Blake?" Jade asked in his head as he blushed in embarrassment. Raphael just facepalmed and responded back.
"When I noticed you doing it… I let you do it without me watching you, we may be from the same soul but I will still respect your privacy. Including when you were in the showers. So rest assured that I am no pervert or stalker watching your every move."
"Well, thanks for that… By the way, do you know why they are here?" Jade asked Raphael.
"Well… let's say they are planning something big during the Vytal festival, but that is in a few months and it is too early to strike them now." Raphael answered as he put his hands behind their head.
"Can't you tell me now? It would be nice to know what they were planning as of now." Jade voiced an alternative solution in his head.
"Like I said earlier. It is too early; you need to wait for the time to strike and ruin their plans. We can continue this later… You have arrived." Raphael says as both of them approached the library.
"Very well, we will resume this talk later." Jade told Raphael.
"Sure…" Raphael yawns before speaking again. "I'm anyway running out of energy and I need rest. I will go first; we can continue later. See ya." Raphael waved to Jade as he vanished into nothing leaving Jade all alone as he arrived at the library to search for his team.
Jade then searched the library only to hear what he could guess was his team.
At where team RWBY and JNPR were at…
"Hmmmmm... All right... All right!" Ruby points at Yang before speaking dramatically. "Yang Xiao Long, prepare your kingdom for battle!"
"Bring it on!" Yang thrusted her elbow down as she balls her fist.
"I deploy the Atlesian Air Fleet!" Ruby slaps her card down on the table as Yang feigns a look of shock.
"Looks like I get to fly right over your Ursai and attack your walls directly!"
"You fiend!" Yang yells dramatically as she shows emotion by getting angry.
"And since Atlas is part of Mantle, my repair time is only one turn." Ruby gives a look of surprise as Yang starts to laugh arrogantly.
"Pretty sneaky, sis, but you just activated my trap card!" Yang raises a card up
"Whaaat?!"
"Giant Nevermore!" Yang slams the card down on the table before continuing on.
"If I roll a seven or higher, fatal feathers will slice your fleet in two!"
"But, if you roll a six or lower, the Nevermore will turn on your own forces!" Ruby pointed at her sister.
"That's just a chance I'm willing to take." Yang says with confidence as both sisters glared at each other.
As Yang and Ruby bantered on about the game for quite a while...
Ren and Pyrrha are studying, Nora was sleeping and Jaune could be seen reading comic books, till Pyrrha clears her throat and then confiscates a comic book Jaune is reading, trading it for a textbook. Pyrrha then begins to read Jaune's comic as a Nevermore player piece is tossed over Jaune's shoulder and another piece bounces off of his head.
"Well, Weiss, it's your turn." Yang informed Weiss.
"I have... absolutely no idea what's going on."
Yang then slides up beside her and puts her hand on her shoulder. "Look, it's easy! You're playing as Vacuo which means that all Vacuo-based cards come with a bonus."
"That sounds dumb."
"See, you've got Sandstorm, Desert Scavenge... Oh, oh!" Yang then pulls up a card to show Weiss before continuing on.
"Resourceful Raider! See, now you can take Ruby's discarded Air Fleet—"
"Nooo!" Ruby yells as she dramatically cries.
"—and put it in your hand!" Yang continued.
"Okay."
"And since Vacuo warriors have an endurance against Natural-based hazards, you can use Sandstorm to disable my ground forces and simultaneously infiltrate my kingdom!" Yang explained to Weiss before she pointed a finger at Weiss.
"Just know that I will not forget this declaration of war." Yang finishes as pulls away and returns to her seat.
"And that means…" Weiss muttered as she just realized what it means.
"You're just three moves away from conquering Remnant!" Ruby yells in awe as Weiss could win this game.
"Y-yes! Fear the almighty power of my forces! Cower as they pillage your homes and weep as they take your children from your very arms!" Weiss stands and a thunder clap accompanies Weiss' overjoyed psychotic laughter.
"What on Remnant is going on over here?" Jade's voice could be heard as he approached the group with a rather grumpy look on his face before he continued on.
"You guys are way way too loud; I could hear you guys when I entered the library. Lower your voices please…" Jade grumbled as Blake smiled at him.
"Jade! How's your talk with Ozpin?" She asked with excitement and curiosity in her voice.
"Oh I just asked him about some of the students coming over and just to get answers to why there are Atlesian ships doing here." Jade answered as the rest of team RW_Y continued their banter.
"Huh… now you mention it… We all did see more of these Atlesian airships in Vale… So, why are they here?" Blake then asked Jade again as he sat down on a chair next to Blake.
"Well… I have the… 'opportunity' to meet the headmaster and general of Atlas. The general told me that they were here to secure and protect the Vytal festival. Though… I don't believe that would work; I mean… Bringing arm guards don't make people feel safe but it does the opposite. Don't you agree with me Blake?"
"Yes it does…" Blake muttered as the remaining of their teammates had finished their bartering.
"Alright Blake, you're up!" Yang informed her partner.
"Am I? oh ok then, Jade do you want to help me out?" Blake returned her attention to the board game as Jade nodded and began looking at her cards.
"Wait! Hey! That's cheating Blake!" Weiss called her out.
"What cheating? I'm only bringing in help… after all, I'm not that great at this game but Jade is." Blake answers Weiss with a smirk on her face as Jade, who is beside Blake, gives a smug smile.
"Well… She is not wrong though…" Ruby mumbled loudly…
"Eh, he can join, besides she would need him to stop me from winning."
"Is that a challenged Yang?" Jade gave Yang a challenging smile at her.
"You bet ya it is!" Yang gave Jade a challenging smile back.
"I will make you wish you would have regretted saying that."
"Hey! Can I play?" Jaune's voice can be heard as he approaches the table team RWBY (and Jade) were in.
"Sorry Jaune, we've already got 5 people." Ruby apologies to Jaune.
"Wait then why can Jade join in?"
"Well Jaune, I'm working for Blake. Maybe you can help the others in their games." Jade suggested an idea.
"Besides, this game requires a certain level of tactical cunning that I seriously doubt that you possess." Weiss added in.
"Uhh, you attacked your own naval fleet 2 turns ago." Yang pointed out to Weiss as she makes an annoyed groan.
"You did what?" Jade starts giggling at Weiss's expense.
"Bring it on, Ice Queen! I'll have you know that I have been told that I am a natural born leader!"
"By who? Your mother?" Weiss countered.
"A-and Pyrrha!" Jaune nervously responded back.
"Hello again!" Pyrrha waved at them.
"Come on, let me play your hand for a turn!" Jaune seemingly begs with both hands folded together.
"I'm not trusting you with the good citizens of Vacuo!" Weiss stubbornly refused.
"Why not? You've trusted me with way more important stuff before. Like that time Jade and Blake tried to-" Jaune tried to say his reason only to be cutted off by Pyrrha.
Pyrrha darts over and slaps a hand over Jaune's mouth as she speaks. "to make themselves a couple that fits well together and whom we all support well in their relationship." Pyrrha then releases her hand from Jaune's mouth as he laughs nervously.
Both Jade and Blake began to look embarrassed as their faces turned red. After all, Yang told their sister team what they saw the previous day much to the couple's protest. Of course their sister team promised to keep a secret (Though Nora teased the ever-living hell out of the couple about it.) as no doubt, it would cause issues for both of them should it leak out.
"Right. That. Ladies and gentleman, enjoy your battle." Jaune bows as both of them walk away from them. It was then when a familiar voice could be heard.
"Sup losers." Sun called them as he appeared holding his fingers in a "peace" sign.
"Hey Sun!" Ruby called him
"Ruby, Yang, Blake, Jade... Ice Queen." Sun called them out.
"Why does everyone keep calling me that?" Weiss yelled out in frustration.
"Well, might want to fix your cold attitude if you want people to stop calling you that." Jade stated the obvious.
"I never got a chance to formally introduce you to my old friend." Sun says as Neptune walks in.
"Uhh, aren't libraries for reading?"
"Thank you!" Ren throws his hand up as he yells
"Pancakes!" Nora yelled as she popped up her head only to collapse back on the table.
"Shut up. Don't be a nerd." Sun mocked his friend."
"Geh, geh, geh, geh! "Intellectual", okay? Thank you." Neptune then waved at the team before introducing himself. "I'm Neptune."
"So Neptune, where are you from?" Weiss asked
"Haven." Neptune approaches Weiss before continuing on. "And I don't believe I've caught your name, snow angel."
"Um, I'm Weiss." Weiss introduced herself as Jade just looked at her with a bemused reaction.
"Are you kidding me!?" Jaune voiced his frustration.
"Pleasure to meet you." Neptune responded back to Weiss.
"I never took you as the board game playing type." Sun asked Blake as she and Jade were both looking at the cards.
"Well usually I don't but, I have Jade helping me over here." Blake answered Sun as Jade smiled at her and pointed at one of the cards.
Much later…
While the team made their way back to their dorm, Jade noticed that Blake had a frustrated look on her face. Knowing that something is bothering her, Jade asks her while Weiss rants how it's cheating that Blake got help from Jade. Even Neptune was impressed with Jade's strategy in baiting him into a trap and using Weiss to weaken both herself and Neptune's forces.
"Blake?" He calls her.
"Yes Jade?"
"Something is bothering you, care to tell me?"
Blake just sighed as she brought herself closer to Jade before giving her reason. "I just feel like we need more information about the White Fang and why they are working with Torchwick… It just frustrates me how everyone acts calmly about it."
"I see… How about you voice your concerns? I'm our dear leader Ruby Rose would support you in any ways she can."
"Hmmm… Why didn't I think about it?"
"Well... you do have a habit of making issues unnecessary complicated."
"Do I?" Blake's tone sounded annoyed when Jade stated the obvious.
"Ehh… somewhat."
Team RWBY (and Jade) had reached back to their dorm as Yang and Weiss were being sore losers. It was then that the faunus couple nodded to each other and then Blake spoke as Jade closed the door.
"Guys, I need your help with something."
"It's related to Torchwick, is it?" Ruby asked.
"Yes. Both I and Jade were trying to find out why he would willingly work with the White Fang." Blake explained herself.
"It is also weird that the Fang would willingly work with a human, after all, they were a group made up of faunus and all of them despised humanity. I believe that someone or something is making these two parties work together and both of us intend to find out why." Jade joins in the conversation.
"Ozpin told us not to worry. Between the police and the Huntsmen, I'm sure they can handle it." Yang stated.
"Well the police have shown countless times of being incompetent at their jobs. So relying on them is a bad idea." Jade countered.
"Okay, between blowing up nightclubs, stopping thieves, and fighting for freedom, I'm sure the four of you think that you're all ready to go out and apprehend these ne'er-do-wells!" Weiss says.
"Weiss, we need to act in some way, both of us have been trying to piece everything together, we just need more information." Blake says back while Jade nods beside her.
"But let me once again be the voice of reason. We're students! We're not ready to handle this sort of situation!"
"Even so Weiss, we still have a part to play. If you see a crime happen, would you just stand by or stop him?" Jade asked his team.
"Well yeah, but…" Ruby tried to give an answer only to be cut-off by Weiss.
"We're not ready!"
"Both of us know we are not ready yet, but we can neither sit by when it is obvious that the White Fang are planning something big with all the dust they have stolen." Blake agreed with Weiss before giving her reason why she and Jade can't sit by and idle.
Ruby then raises her hand and does other random gestures, while looking manic before speaking. "Okay, all in favour of becoming the youngest Huntresses to single-handedly take down a corrupt organization conspiring against the Kingdom of Vale... say aye."
Yang Pumps her fist enthusiastically and points at Blake. "Yes! I love it when you're feisty!"
"Well, I suppose it could be fun." Weiss also supported Ruby.
"Aye Ruby let's do this!" Jade had a look of excitement on his face.
"Well, only one of you said aye" Ruby points out.
"Alright then, we're in this together!" Blake says.
"As a team!" Jade joined in.
"Let's hatch a plan!" Ruby said.
"Yeah!" Yang cheered.
"I left my board game at the library! " Ruby gasps as she freaks out and zips right out the door.
"We're doomed." Weiss moaned as she placed her hand to her head.
"I don't know about you but I need some time on the roof to think clearly before we begin our planning." Jade says as he walks towards the dorm door.
"Jade, you want me to come with you?" Blake asked her boyfriend.
"Not today Blake, you need rest, after all we need rest to make a plan go smoothly." Jade declined her offer and gave his reason why as Blake pouted. Yang also noticed it and giggled.
As Jade left the dorm, he came face to face with his attempted murderers, Cinder Fall, Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai. All three of them gave a look of surprise then it changed to a glare as Jade mumbled.
"You…"
"Jade Grayson, what a surprise to see you here." Cinder was the first to speak after recovering from her surprise.
"Cut the chase Cinder… If it was not for the rules here, you would have already been dead where you stand."
Once Jade uttered his threat, both Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai immediately readied themselves for a fight while Cinder just laughed."
"You? Threaten us? After our previous fight went?"
"The last time you caught me off guard, this time would be different. And besides… I don't know what you three are doing here but..." Jade continued to talk to them as he walked past them.
"Whatever it is… I got my eyes on you three…" Jade gave the merry three villains the death glare before walking off.
As Jade walked off, Emerald then asked her saviour. "Lady Cinder, we should have ended his life here and there. He knows us and could interrupt your plans."
"Never thought I would see Jade again, here especially." Mercury muttered.
"I do not know what Ozpin is planning to do with Jade but keep an eye on him. I don't want him disrupting or leaking our plans out."
"Yes Cinder." Both of Cinder's subordinates agreed with her as they followed her to their destination.
Back with Jade up on the roof tops gazing into the skies. It was then that Raphael rematerializes next to Jade and then spoke.
"So… Cinder is here huh?"
'Yes… Remember you said we would resume our talking?"
"Yes, Cinder Fall has big plans when the Vytal festival is in full swing… though, with you around… they would have to take extra precaution. After all, with you literally threatening and saying to their face that you planned to watch them. They would have to no doubt keep an eye on you lest you foil their plans.
"So, I should do nothing for now? You did say it is too early to strike them, which I understand but… with me in the mix…"
"No doubt they need to have us killed lest we expose them. After all… You and Pyrrha stand a good chance at wiping them on a one-on-one fight. Well except Cinder because she is cheating."
"What do you mean that Cinder is cheating?" Jade looked at Raphael with confusion.
"Well… Remember a while ago I mention that you were created by the gods?" Raphael asked as Jade nodded.
"Yes, you mentioned it."
"Good, because the tale of the maidens exist as well. Cinder Fall has half of the Fall maiden's powers…" Jade just looked surprised at it.
"Wait only half? That still explains her almost magical fire attacks… they seemed too unnatural. Wait where's the other half?"
"Well…" Raphael just pointed below them with his finger. Jade just looked completely confused.
"Wait… are you saying the other half of the Fall maiden is underneath us?"
"Yeeeep…" Raphael just responded back with a deadpan tone.
"So this is what Ozpin is keeping? Or is the old man hiding more from us?"
"Well… there's more but… that's enough for now. You should head back. No doubt Blake would be concerned for you. After all, both of you are rarely seen apart. So I won't take up more of your time. But don't worry, I will explain more later, after all that is in a few months from now." Those were the last of Raphael's words before he vanished leaving Jade all alone staring into the night sky.

First of all I wish you all had a good Merry Christmas, I did not… All I got was some T-shirts and pants. I am really sad but oh well, enough about my stuff. And I should be able to get one more chapter out before the new year! So… Yay!
Ok ok, enough about my Christmas life and let's move on to this chapter. As we all saw, the relationship between Jade and James would be tense, after all, Jade is a mercenary so he would only do jobs for the highest bidder. As Ironwood mentioned, Jade had raided Atlesian bases in the past for his employees which no doubt would piss off the general by a large margin.
Next on the list is Raphael now showing up suddenly, as he had said himself in a previous chapter, the barrier that holds him is weakening. This results in Raphael able to temporarily appear out to take to Jade, though others cannot see Raphael, only Jade.
Next would be the interactions between Blake and her team. In the original Blake had to argue that the White Fang are a threat and they cannot sit by and dilly dally all day. In my work, Blake acts more confident to trust her team (though she still hasn't told them about Adam…) and with Jade's support, she makes a point that they need to act.
Next is the interactions between Jade and Cinder's gang. Well… I hope I portrayed Cinder right… I mean she is an egotistical asshole that murdered Pyrrha (Look I know we now know why she is now but roll with me ok?) But yea… expect hostile reactions to each other and sooner or later Jade's own team would notice this and ask him this in the future.
