Shinichi went back to Shiho and help her stand up.

"I know you did terrible things to me but I'm not like you so I'm not letting you sleep here idiot." He said.

They walk inside and He take Shiho to her room. She's now sleeping peacefully. Shinichi is staring at her while sitting on her bed.

"Be thankful I'm not a horrible person." He said.

He is staring at her peaceful face.

"You may look innocent but I shouldn't trust you." Shinichi sighed.

"If I find out that it's really you I swear I won't ever forgive you." He said.

'But what if it's not her?' His thoughts.

He keeps staring at her.

'She has a reason to sent that. She's just really good at acting.' His thoughts again.

Shinichi left Shiho and went to his balcony, he continue drinking and smoking there because he can't sleep. He get his phone from his pocket and dial a number.

"Mr Kudo..." A man said in the other line.

"How's the investigation?" He calmly asked.

"Mr Kudo I don't think Miyano is the sender because I saw her record when she left Japan. And there's nothing suspicious people on the venue according to the CCTV footage I've watched. But I promise I will work harder to find who ever it was."

"Do it faster. I can't wait any longer." He ended the call.

'So if it's not her then who?' His thoughts.

Morning...

Shiho opened her eyes, her head feels heavy due to drinking alot last night.

'So I was drunk last night? And he help me to come here in my room?'

She closed her eyes again.

'What if I told him I love him? Damn!' Her thoughts.

She hears a knocked in her door.

"Are you awake now Shiho?" Shinichi called out.

"Uh yeah..." she said.

"Can I come in?" He asked.

"Yeah sure."

Shinichi entered her room and see her lying on the bed.

"I will go to work now." He said.

Shiho open her eyes and see him wearing his work attire.

"Ok." She said.

Shinichi smiled and was about to go out.

"Shinichi?" She called him.

Shinichi looks at her.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Did I say something stupid last night?" She asked.

"No." He said.

"Oh..." She smiled.

"I'm off to work now." He said.

He went out and left her alone in her room.

Shinichi went to a private bar to meet a friend. He's waiting for her to get a clue or information he can get.

"Shinichi!" Sonoko calls him. She sat down across him.

"How are you?" She asked smiling.

"I'm ok." He said.

"It's been a while since we see each other again." She said.

"Yeah I know."

"I have to go in a few minutes because of our business trip so what do you want to ask?"

"Did you remember when we're on the venue on my wedding? And you saw a gift outside and you gave it to me." He said.

Sonoko looks at him confused.

"Wait? What gift? I never saw a gift outside that I give to you on the venue?" She said.

Shinichi saw her eyes telling the truth. He can easily read her.

"I'm sorry I'm kidding." He smiled widely.

'So it's not Sonoko that I talked to in the venue? A disguised person...' his thought.

Sonoko said her goodbye. Shinichi walks out from the bar and started walking.

'It's possible that Shiho is innocent. I think it's a set up.' his thoughts.

'That person must hate Shiho to make it look like she sent it...'

Shinichi gets his phone and call Amuro.

"Hey Shinichi." Amuro happily said on the other line.

"Why did you call do you need anything?" He asked.

"Did you know where jail is Vermouth at?" Shinichi asked.

"Oh about that? Well... she uh... she escaped the prison on july 3rd last year."

"Ohh..." He said.

"If you ever caught her don't surrender her yet at the police station, I need to talk to her first." He added.

Shinichi ended the call.

'Right... Vermouth hates Shiho because of her parents and she also good at disguising other people. Why didn't I noticed it when Sonoko said Ran is an Angel. I never hear Sonoko calls Ran an Angel unless it's Vermouth!' His thoughts.

He put his palm to his face.

'I am so dumb for treating her like a sh*t .'

'Idiot Shinichi! Idiot! Idiot! Idiot!'

Shinichi went home right away. He see her cleaning on the living room.

"Shinichi? Did you forget something?" She asked.

He walks towards her and hugged her tightly.

"I'm sorry for being an @$$% to you. I'm sorry I'm such an idiot. I'm sorry for treating you sh#t... I'm sorry... I'm really sorry." He sincerely said.

Shiho hugs him back wondering what's going on.

"Shinichi? Are you ok?" She asked.

"I'm sorry partner, I should've trust you. I'm sorry." He keeps saying sorry.

Shiho let go of their hugged. She look at him.

"I forgive you Shinichi just stop apologizing ok? We're cool." She smiled.

"How could you forgive me? I treated you so bad an-"

"I forgive you because you're my partner remember?"

Shinichi looks at her. He hugs her again.

"I promise I'll protect you. I'll never let anyone to hurt you." He said.

Shinichi and Shiho talk about what he find out. He told her Vermouth escaped in the jail but he assure her that he will protect her and Vermouth will never come near her.

The Next Day...

Shinichi went off to work, he's solving a difficult case alone. Shiho is currently at the mall going to meet Heiji to talk.

"Hey Shiho!" Heiji calls out.

Shiho looks at his direction and walk towards him.

"Hey." She smiled.

They walk and sit down on the bench.

"It's over. Shinichi found out who's the sender is..." she smiled.

Heiji looks at her.

"He did?" He asked.

"I know he's a great detective but how did he find out the sender when the gift is out of nowhere?" He added.

"He met Sonoko yesterday and asked about the gift but then Sonoko told him that she didn't even know what he's talking about. So he think that someone disguised as Sonoko... and he knows who hates me so much that can do such a terrible thing like sending knives and name it to me." She said.

"Who?" Heiji asked.

"Vermouth."

"Wasn't she's on the jail?" He asked.

"Well she escaped last year 2 days before Shinichi's wedding." She said.

"I hope she get caught!" She said again.

It was 10 o' clock in the evening when Heiji drive her home in the Kudo mansion. She left his car and went inside the mansion and see Shinichi standing.

"Hey." She said.

"Who's that?" He asked.

"Oh that's Heiji." She said.

'Heiji? Why he keeps hanging out with her? Did he likes her?' His thoughts.

"It's getting late and you just went home now? You know it's not safe outside!" He said.

Shiho smiled.

"Thanks for worrying but I'm with Heiji and you know he's not going to let something bad happen right?"

"But what if it's not really Heiji you're with and its actually Vermouth! Do you know how dangerous it is!"

"Ok I'm sorry Daddy." Shiho teased.

"What?" Shinichi is looking at her dumbfounded.

"You're talking to me like I'm your teenage daughter who just went home from a date so you're really scolding me because the guy I dated drives me home." Shiho smirked.

"Good night Daddy I'm going to sleep now please don't forget to drink your meds..." she giggles and went straight to her room.

'Ugh idiot!' He blushed.

Shinichi went upstairs to his room. And lay down to his bed.

'I just want to protect her... I lose my wife... I'm not going to lose my bestfriend... my partner. I will protect her to anyone even if it will cost my life I don't care.' His thoughts.

Shinichi didn't feel weird because of his sudden change. He feels guilty for treating the only person who never gives up on him so bad. She deserves better and Shinichi feels stupid for being an @$$#% to her. He will make it up to her for real.
