Goldust and Jericho started the match but immediately tagged in to Booker and Christian respectively. Booker knocked Christian with a punch and then a clothesline and started chasing Jericho but Jericho hopped down from the ring apron. Goldust slingshotted Jericho over the top rope onto Christian and Booker rolled Jericho back into the ring.

Booker broke the hold by kicking Jericho's head. Booker performed a missile dropkick on Jericho. Christian grabbed a title belt and attempted to hit Booker with it but Booker stopped the attempt. Jericho attempted a springboard dropkick, but the middle rope broke. However, Jericho delivered a one-handed bulldog on the title belt on Goldust and performed a Lionsault to retain the title.

The second match of the event was between Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie. The ring was being repaired during Dawn's entrance, as the middle rope broke down during the previous match. Torrie started the match by attacking Dawn with punches until Dawn left the ring. As Dawn returned to the ring, she started arguing with the referee. Torrie took advantage of the situation and performed a swinging neckbreaker on Dawn to win the match.

The next match was between Rob Van Dam and Ric Flair. As the match started, RVD started attacking Flair until Flair escaped out of the ring but RVD caught him outside the ring by fighting with punches. The action returned to the ring where Flair applied a figure four leglock on RVD. RVD tried to reverse the hold but Flair rolled into the ropes to break the hold.

Flair attempted to apply the figure four leglock again but RVD countered it with a small package for a near-fall. Flair climbed the top rope but RVD pulled him down by slamming him in the center of the ring. RVD performed a Rolling Thunder on Flair to get a near-fall. RVD followed it by performing a Five-Star Frog Splash on Flair for the victory.

The fourth match was for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Jamie Noble defended the title against Tajiri. The match started in the aisle when Tajiri attacked Noble. The two continued to battle and their fight reached the ring where Noble dominated Tajiri for much of the earlier match. Tajiri started dominating the match by attempting a moonsault on Noble. However, Noble avoided the move but Tajiri landed on his feet. However, Tajiri performed a Flip Over DDT on Noble. Noble attempted a clothesline but missed it and Tajiri delivered a series of kicks and a superkick for a near-fall.

Tajiri followed by applying a Tarantula on Noble and attempted a Buzzsaw Kick but missed the move. However, he slammed Noble's face into the turnbuckle and then performed a Buzzsaw Kick but before he could pin Noble, Noble's manager Nidia climbed the apron and kissed the referee. Noble took advantage and delivered a Gibson Driver to Tajiri for a near-fall. Noble attempted to pin Tajiri with a victory roll. Nidia helped Noble in pinning Tajiri to retain the title. After the match, Tajiri delivered a Buzzsaw Kick to Noble.

he fifth match of the event was the Title unification match for Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship and Kane's WWE Intercontinental Championship. Midway through the match, Kane performed a back body drop on Triple H and attempted a pinfall attempt on Triple H but Ric Flair ran into the ring and went after Kane. Flair got Kane out of the ring and Triple H went back to fight Kane in the ring. The Hurricane then ran down to the ringside area and prevented Flair from interfering in the match.

This distracted Triple H and he performed a Pedigree on Hurricane. Kane performed a powerslam on Triple H for a near-fall. Kane attempted a big boot on Triple H but he avoided the move and the referee was knocked down. Triple H and Kane fought outside the ring, where Kane chokeslammed Triple H through a broadcast table. Flair tried to attack Kane outside the ring but Kane shoved him and took Triple H with him back into the ring to pin him.

Flair ran into the ring with a sledgehammer and tried to attack Kane with it but Kane grabbed it from Flair and hit him with it. After knocking out Flair, Kane focused on Triple H and tried to hit him with it, but Triple H low blowed Kane and took the weapon. Triple H attempted to hit Kane with the sledgehammer but Kane avoided the move, delivered a chokeslam to Triple H and attempted to pin him, but the referee was still out. A new referee came in to make the count, but Flair pulled him out to prevent the pinfall. Flair then climbed the top rope to distract Kane but Kane performed a chokeslam on Flair. Triple H took advantage and performed a Pedigree on a Kane to retain the World Heavyweight Championship and unify Kane's Intercontinental Championship into the World Heavyweight Championship.

Now it was time for the tag team match to decide the first ever WWE Tag Team Champions.

In the arena, Chris Benoit's theme hits and out comes the Rabid Wolverine. "The following contest is a tag team match scheduled for one-fall and it is for the WWE Tag Team Championship. In the ring, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, weighing 229 lbs...CHRIS BENOIT!"

Benoit's theme dies down and soon enough Kurt Angle's theme plays. "And his partner, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, weighing 237 lbs...KURT ANGLE!"

Angle makes his way down the ramp and gets into the ring, joining his partner, both men sharing icy looks with one another.

OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!

'Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah! Get up, come on get down with the sickness!'

Down with the Sickness plays to a loud pop and out comes the Bladewolf who makes his way down the ramp with his eyes on the two men in the ring. He gets onto the ring apron and stares Benoit and Angle down before he enters the ring and watches them closely as his theme dies down,

Edge's theme hits next and out comes Bladewolf's partner who makes his way down the ramp to the ring, sliding in and joining his partner. The duo fist bump as they stare down their opponents for tonight as Edge's theme dies down.

The two teams get eye to eye with each other before the referee orders them to back up and they do so, Bladewolf taking off his trench coat as Edge takes his coat off.

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Kurt Angle starts it fof with the Bladewolf, the two men staring each other down as their respective partners get out onto the ring apron. Bladewolf and Angle circle one another before they lock up and have a test of strength which Angle seems to be winning before Bladewolf overpowers Angle and backs him into the corner, driving his knee into Angle's stomach multiple times. Bladewolf pulls him close and hits a belly-to-belly suplex.

Bladewolf egts to his feet, flipping his hair back and watches Angle get to his feet before the two men lock up again but Angle drives his knee into Bladewolf's stomach then headbutts the Demon Wolf before he clobbers him with a hard right that makes Bladewolf stumble back. Angle takes Bladewolf down with a clothesline then rebounds off the ropes and hits a running elbow drop on the chest of the Bladewolf.

he goes for the cover but Bladewolf kicks out at two and Angle locks in a headlock on the Bladewolf, causing the 3-time WWE Champion to try fighting back as he tries going for the ropes before he drives his elbow into Angle's ribs multiple times but Angle locks in the sleeper hold, only for Bladewolf to stand up then runs backwards to drive Angle into the corner.

Bladewolf walks forward before turning around and uppercuts Angle in the chin, bringing the Olympic Gold Medallist down. Bladewolf lays in a few rights and lefts before he picks up Angle and drives him into his corner, tagging in Edge. Edge comes in and delivers a kick to Angle but Angle begisn fighting back with rights and lefts while Bladewolf gets out onto the ring apron and watches.

Angle and Edge, two men who have had history with each other as it was Edge who beat Angle in a hair vs hair match that led to Angle having his head shaved bald.

Angle and Edge circle one another after their exchange of fists before they lock up with Edge getting behind Angle and hits a back takedown on Angle who turns it around and grabs Edge's arm, but Edge fights to his feet only to have Angle lock in a headlock on Edge.

Edge whips Angle into the ropes but Angle hits a shoulder bash on Edge, then he rebounds off the ropes with Edge sliding under him and Angle rebounds off the ropes again and comes into a hip toss from Edge. Angle quickly gets to his feet and runs only for Edge to hit another hip toss, then hits a dropkick on the former WWE Champion.

Angle walks over and tags in Benoit who comes in and locks up with Edge, gets behind him but Edge takes Benoit down but buth men get to their feet after a few grapples on the mat. Benoit locks in a headlock on Edge who fights out of it but Benoit takes him down with a arm drag but Edge is able to lock in a wrist lock only for Benoit to fight to his feet and gets Edge into the corner.

Benoit drives his knee into Edge's a few times, causing Edge to release him, and allows Benoit to hit a few hard rights to the skull of Edge before he brings Edge into the middle of the ring and locks in another headlock, hits a hip toss and locks in a headlock again. Edge fights to his feet, whips Benoit into the ropes but Benoit takes Edge down with a shoulder bash, then rebounds off the ropes, hops over Edge and comes back straight into Edge's knee into his stomach.

Edge grabs Benoit and hits a gutbreaker before he tags in the Bladewolf who comes into cheers from the fans, the Demon Wolf stomping away on Benoit as Edge gets out onto the apron to watch.

Bladewolf locks Benoit in a headlock which the Rabid Wolverine begins fighting out of but Bladewolf rebound shim off the ropes and nails a big boot before he rebounds off the ropes and hits a leg drop across the throat of the Rabid Wolverine. Bladewolf delivers a few hard rights to the skull of Benoit before he pulls Benoit to his feet, goes for an Irish whip which Benoit reverses but Bladewolf ducks the right and Benoit turns...INTO A SPINEBUSTER!

Bladewolf hooks the leg but Angle breaks it up at two and quickly scampers from the ring as Bladewolf glares at him. Bladewolf grabs Benoit and pulls him to his feet when Benoit tackles him into the corner and unloads with lefts and rights then headbutts Bladewolf before pulling him forward...AND HITS A DDT! BENOIT HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THR-!" BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT!

Benoit hammers away at Bladewolf's forehead a few times before he drops a knee onto Bladewolf's right leg, focusing more on it as he knows that by taking out the legs takes out the power fr some of Bladewolf's finishers and moves. Benoit stomps away on the right leg. Benoit drops his knee down onto Bladewolf's chest then locks in a headlock, trying to wear the Demon Wolf out but Bladewolf fights back with elbows into the ribs as best as he can, eventually making Benoit release him.

Benoit rolls out the ring and Bladewolf follows, grabbing Benoit before tossing him right into the barricade hard. Bladewolf runs a hand through his short hair and rolls his shoulders before he grabs Benoit and tosses him back into the ring, sliding in after him.

Bladewolf walks over to Benoit who suddenly trips him up...AND LOCKS IN THE CROSSFACE! WILL BLADEWOLF TAP OUT?!

Bladewolf raises his free arm, looking ready to tap but clenches his fist as Benoit yells for him to tap. Bladewolf struggles and fights, trying to find the ropes but Benoit was not making him go anywhere, making sure he remained in the middle of the ring. Bladewolf moves around until he rolls them around, grabs Benoit by the ankle...AND LOCKS IN THE GRAPEVINE ANKLE LOCK! WILL BENOIT TAP OUT?!

Angle comes in and breaks it up, stomping away on Bladewolf until Edge runs in...AND HITS THE SPEAR! Benoit turns into a kick to the stomach...AND DDT FROM BENOIT!

Benoit yells down at Edge before he turns around only to be lifted onto Bladewolf's shoulders...THEN HE HITS THE WOLF'S HOWL! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THREE! BLADEWOLF AND EDGE WIN!

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Down with the Sickness plays as Bladewolf rolls off Benoit before Edge comes in to help him up. "Here are your winners and the FIRST ever WWE Tag Team Champions...EDGE AND THE BLADEWOLF!"

Edge and Bladewolf are given the WWE Tag Team Championships and they raise them as they leave the ring, heading up the ramp. The two hug one another and raise the title as they stand on the stage together. They then head backstage as Benoit and Angle recover.

So yeah, Edge and the Bladewolf are the first ever WWE Tag Team Champions, not Benoit and Angle.
