'Thoughts'

"Speaking"

'Another day passed with nothing to do or entertain me,' Hermione thought. As she laid the book beside onto the sofa, sighing boredom, looked over at Elizabeth Cromwell, smiling over at her.

"May we take a walk into the garden, please ?" she asked.

Sighing, Elizabeth knew the younger woman would sneak away, despite the need to be on bedrest anyways, probably convincing her brother to escort her.

"Might, as well, I know you convince someone to walk with you." Replied a smile falling on her lips. Setting the needlepoint next to her while the maids grabbed both of the ladies' coats.

Happy to finally be outside and out of the room, Hermione wouldn't admit that she was shivering a bit through the coat. Noticing the younger girl's shivering, she grabbed her arm softly, leading to one of the benches. "Are you ready to leave for Potter Manor ?" asked Elizabeth.

"As ready, I can be thank you for allowing Sara to become my maid," commented, trying to bury herself with the coat.

"Its no problem, dear, it is easier having someone you can trust at the new manor. Besides, my dear, you and your brother, I see as my children, even though you came into our lives unexpectedly."

"I see you as a mother, especially since I am unable to see mine," Hermione whispered, tears starting to prickle in the corner of her eyes. "Shhh.. my dear, it is alright." Pulling the younger woman closer to her side, confronting as a mother would.

Unknowing to them, they were being watched by someone who at least was an ally. Thomas Cromwell couldn't help watch the scene in front of him, between his wife and Lady Potter.

"Don't you agree, Thomas ?" the voice questioned behind him.

"Yes, Your Majesty, that is a good idea," replied not even aware of the room's conversation.

Hearing a few chuckles behind him, Thomas turned around away from the window towards the several men in the room.

Henry notices the confusion on his trusted advisor's face and couldn't help but laugh harder. "You do realize I asked you what you think about having Edward becoming a court jester. And you just agreed." Everyone else laughed as Edward Seymour's face turned into a scowl upon hearing the comment.

"Don't think I could handle it, your majesty," he replied sarcastically towards the King, knowing there was no point arguing with the man.

Shaking his head Thomas turned his head back to the window, seeing both Ladies still in the same place as before. Lost in thought again, he had yet to notice the room's quietness once again as the other men made small talk to each other as Henry made his way to the window.

"What is it that has you so involved with," he asked, making his advisor Jump in surprise. "Just looking at the window, your highness," Thomas commented, making room for the King.

"Oh, Lady Potter. She's quite beautiful, don't you agree. Lord Potter is fortunate to find her as a wife." he commented, staring at the women below, especially Hermione. Glancing at the man next to him from the corner of his eye.

"What is it that you wanted to talk about again?'' he asked. Trying to pull Henry's attention away from the window.

"Yes, sorry, Thomas," Henry commented, taking one more look at the young brunette outside and turning around to continue the discussion.

Meanwhile Stables

Harry sighed, running his hands through the messy black hair, pushing it away from his forehead. Mainly nervous, it was only a couple of days ago did Hermione bring up the idea of Princess Mary staying with them at Potter Manor. Even though History was never his strongest subject, he never found it exciting and has gone to Hogwarts since the age of 11. Still, the story of King Henry VIII several wives. Clearing his mind from the doubt creeping, Harry swung upon his stallion next to Lord Suffolk. Turning towards his companion, "Shall, we race, same stakes as last time, Harry." the Duke questioned.

"Of course, dear friend, prepare to lose again." replied before, allowing the eager stallion to take off.

Allowing the black stallion to run freely reminded him of how much he missed flying. The breeze blowing into one's face gave the reminder of freedom. Lapse of focus was all Charles needed as he nudged his Chestnut Stallion past his younger friend, ready to win the bet. Harry pushed the horse once more, not wanting to lose the stake as the field came upon there view. Neck to Neck, both horses galloped, enjoying the freedom of running. The last pull forward, the stallion won for his owner. Both men slowed the horses down, upset the race's loss, and bet, whereas the other man was quite happy to win.

"Alright, I see you have the best stallion and the best rider," Charles said, smirking.

"I'm glad you acknowledge it, my dear friend, Harry agreed laughing."

" you want something to ask of me," Charles commented, turning his head towards the younger man.

"Is it possible to do with Princess Mary? Lord Cromwell mentioned that she and Lady Poter have become close. I'm sure you heard the rumors about the Queen potential being sent away in the Kings attempt to get rid of her.

Harry sighed, turning his head to Charles upon hearing the last part. "My sister had came up with the idea to have Princess Mary stay with her at our home at Potter Manor. I've already mentioned the idea to Lord Cromwell, but we need your help to convince the King to allow it."

Pulling on the reins, Charles horse came to a halt. Knowing what was being asked of him to convince his oldest friend of an idea was not the easiest task especially with Anne Boleyn and her family in the King's ear. "What about Quen Katherine? Does she know about this idea?"

"No, Lady Cromwell and Hermione are going to approach the Queen, letting her know of the intentions to give the young Princess security. " Harry commented back, stoping his horse next to Charles.

Charles stared at the younger man, first court season, and already trying to play the court's political fare. Sighing, he turned away, staring off into the distance.

"I'm not going to lie. You are asking for the impossible, Harry. The King has the Boleyn in his ear, mainly Anne. Sending Princess Mary somewhere where she has support can destroy everything the Boleyn ever wanted and achieve. Including the Howards being cousins to Anne." Charles finished turning back towards the man.

"We are aware, but one thing you don't know about my dear sister is that she is a loyal friend and determined once she has a plan." replied laughing softly, reminisce at his sister's stubbornness all those times over the years.

"Shall we race back to the stables?" Harry asked Charles, having said everything for now.

Charles smiled at the question choosing to allow his horse to gallop back to the Whitehall Stables, leaving the younger man behind.

Back at Whitehall Palace

After returning to her room from the walk this morning, Hermione lounged around the library, determined to find something else to occupy her time. Coming across one of the first edition bibles, she quickly grabbed it and sat down on the chairs.

Passing by the library, the King walked by the library, eagerly heading towards his long-awaited love room. Eager to spend the day laying with Anne before meeting with the dreadful Queen.
Lost in thought, he kept on walking past the corridors when he heard a faint noise. Turning back around, he noticed the library door was ajar, peeking inside. Noticed the back of ladies head facing the fireplace. Curiosity filled him as the library was rarely used by anyone, pushed the door even wider.

Hermione heard a noise behind, her noticing a figure standing in the doorway. Waiting for the person either come closer or leave her alone in peace she sat still hoping they would leave her alone. The figure continued to stand there, but before she could comment, the shadow decided to enter the room.

The man stepped into the room light, shinning more out to his features. "Your Majesty," Hermione instantly rose, curtsying.

"Good Afternoon, Lady Potter," Henry smirked, walking inside the room, shutting the door little bit still leaving it ajar.

"You know the former Queen Elizabeth loved this room." Henry started as he ran his fingers along with one of the few bookshelves.

"My Mother dreamed of one-day books filling the entire walls. Of course, even though the library is hardly used, I plan to achieve her dream. Hoping as well, my son can pass on the legacy as well." Finished talking as he stood in front of the young women.

Silence filled the room as the pair stared at each other. Deciding that she didn't exactly want to stand all afternoon in front of this man, "if I may ask Your Grace, is it possible for me to sit? The little one is quite active right now." asked softly. Henry looked down at Hermione's very noticeable baby bump. " I do apologize, Lady Potter; you may sit." Henry finally stated.

Taking a deep breath, she knew that now was the time to take the risk and asking him about Mary.

"King Henry, I..." She caught herself, not knowing how to phrase the question.

"Yes, Lady Potter?" Henry asked, sitting down the on the couch, eager to hear her question.

"I want to thank you for being so friendly and kind towards our family. We've truly been blessed." Hermione stopped once again, resting a hand on her stomach.

"It is nothing at all, especially since your husband intervened during the hunting accident." replied touching her hand gently. Quickly pulling back her hand in surprise, Hermione stared at the King in shock. Not even noticing what he referred Harry too.

Anger and surprise-filled Henry as he never been rejected by anyone in such a disrespectful manner. He was the King, nobody even his beloved Anne, turned him down like this.

Noticing the King's reaction anger, her face paled instantly.

'Oh, Merlin, I instantly insulted this man.

Seeing the young woman face pale, his anger quickly disappears and instead started to turn into laughter.

'What an idiot, why is he even laughing? First, he's angry at me; then, he laughs at me. Her face was changing quickly into annoyance at the King's quick mood changes.

Seeing the look on her face, he quickly sobered his attitude. " I do apologize, Lady Potter.

I didn't mean to laugh at you. You integrity me, never had a lady of this court quite stand out. I would like to know you better. Will you allow me to correspond with you? Henry questioned softly, making a move to grab her hand.

Panic rose through her as time slowed down, seeing his hand making way to her own.

'No, No !' her inner dialogue screaming within her mind. 'This is not how history supposed to turn out; this is not part of the plan. Of course, Henry was always a lady's man. It was supposed to be Anne Boleyn and Lady Jane. No one else besides few rumor affairs, but that wasn't supposed to arise until after Elizabeth was born.' Hermione's mind continued trying to process what exactly was happening and not insult the King while pushing him away.

Tension rose within the room as the couple stared at each other different emotions playing through both. Henry's feelings shifted between both curiosity and integrity. 'No woman turned down his charms. Except for Anne, at the beginning of the relationship, she was still charmed by him. But, this woman in front of him was different, very different from the others he came across.' thought to himself, intertwining their hands together.

Feeling his hands, Hermione finally looked at him directly in his face. "Your, Majesty." her voice quivering ever slightly.

"Please, Lady Potter, call me Henry." stated creasing her hands between his own.

Henry smiled to himself upon seeing the young women in front of him look down at their adjoined hands, a slight blush appearing upon her face.

Hermione titled her head back up, staring at him,

"Henry," she whispered.

Upon hearing his name on her lips, he realized that he must have her in his life; however, he can.

"Henry," said again, this time more forcible, pulling her hands softly out of his grasp.

"I am thankful for everything you've done for us. I apologize you are busy, man, and I do not want to take any attention from your important duties; this Country and Court." finished speaking, looking into the face of the King.

"Lady Hermione, I…."

"Your Majesty," a feminine voice whispered into the room ever so softly. Walking towards the couple taking in at the scene. Anne Boleyn knew her Henry was curious by the mystery couple since meeting them early in the year. Of course, seeing him with Lady Potter did not make the situation any right. 'Maybe, Father is right, and they are a threat.' taking notice of said Lady putting distance between herself and the King.

"Lady Boleyn," Hermione commented, nodding her head in acknowledgment to the women. Deciding now was the time to make herself scarce quickly; she turned towards the King. "Your Majesty, "curtsying towards him. Before making her way out of the library, back towards her room.
