Chapter 14: The Queen is Back
Kiara is currently walking through Petalburg City alone. She wanted to prove to May that she could keep an eye on things by herself, and help people by herself.
"Petalburg City is usually always busy." Kiara muttered to herself. "There's gotta be someone I could help."
"Hey, Princess Kiara." A person whispered.
Kiara stopped walking and turned her head to the right to look at who called her name. "Did you call me?" Kiara was speaking to a cloaked figure, hiding in an alleyway. Kiara couldn't see the person's face because she was looking down, but Kiara could tell from the voice that it's a girl.
"Yes, come here." The girl said. She then turned around and went further into the alleyway. Kiara followed her shortly afterward in confusion.
They walked to the end of the alleyway. The girl turned around and took off the hood of the cloak, revealing her face. She has purple eyes and black hair that reaches to the bottom of her back. There was something about this girl...almost ominous. And Kiara felt that when looking at her.
"Umm...who are you?" Kiara asked. "I don't think I've seen you around before."
"I'm new to Petalburg." The girl said. "And I was kind of hoping to get to know the Princess of Hoenn."
"Oh. Well, why are we in this alleyway? We could just go talk on the sidewalk where there's more light."
"Sorry. It's just that...I prefer dark places."
"Oh. Okay then." Kiara said. "I always look forward to meeting new people in Petalburg, so let's talk."
"Okay then. First of all, my name is Violet."
"It's nice to meet you." Kiara said.
"Okay. Time to get down to business." Violet said.
"Huh?"
"So...I've heard stories from people all over Hoenn about you having some sort of grudge against your sister, Princess May."
"People are talking about that all over Hoenn?" Kiara brought her hands to her face, covering her eyes in shame. "I don't want to even think about that time. I was just so awful."
"But you almost had May beat, didn't you?"
Kiara brought her hands back down to her sides and she shook her head. "No. I don't think so. She was really strong too with her magic."
"But in order to save you, she just talked to you. When it came to power, you were the clear winner."
"Really?"
Violet nodded. "But you let her words change you back to normal from the Queen of Mean when you clearly would've won that fight. Don't you still want to take over Hoenn?" Violet asked, smirking on the inside.
"I...don't really want to talk about this."
"But remember when you had that genie with you?" Violet asked, slowly approaching Kiara.
"Umm…"
"And you transformed into that wicked Queen of Mean?"
"Yeah, but-"
"And the reason for that transformation was because your precious sister is to be the next Queen of Hoenn?"
"Of course, but I-" Kiara started walking backwards because Violet was getting too close to her.
"And you mentioned how you were always...second best?" Violet finished, stopped walking, and smirked evilly. Kiara stopped walking.
"I...don't want to relive that day." Kiara said.
"But I just think you should charge right up to your sister and show her who is to be the next Queen."
"I can't do that. I wanted to be Queen before, but not anymore."
"Kiara, you're the Queen of Mean." Violet said.
"Not anymore."
"The Queen of Mean would never let anyone stop her on her quest to take over Hoenn."
"I'm not the Queen of Mean anymore." Kiara repeated.
"But you want to be." Violet said, smirking evilly.
"Huh?"
(This song is "Unbreakable" from UglyDolls.)
"There's always gonna be someone tryna tear you down." Violet sang. "Mocking you for your mistakes, oh. There's always gonna be someone messing your head around. Watching you to see you break, so"
"Don't you let 'em call you out." Violet continued, walking closer to Kiara. "Brush away the shame and doubt." She started circling Kiara. "Remember what you're all about and then show 'em who you are." Kiara looked down. "Show 'em that you're strong. Show 'em that you know where you belong. Open up their eyes. Force 'em all to see. Let 'em know you are and you'll always be…"
Violet stopped circling Kiara and she stood in front of her. Kiara looked up at Violet. "Unbreakable...unbreakable...unbreakable...unbreakable...yeah." Violet sang.
"There's always gonna be someone saying you're something less." Violet sang. Kiara frowned. "Let 'em talk. You know your heart, oh. There's always gonna be someone calling you second best." Kiara's hands clenched at this moment, because she remembered how awful she was back then. "Shut 'em down. Don't fall apart, no."
"Don't you let 'em in your head." Violet continued, circling around Kiara again. "Doesn't matter what they said. Get up on your feet instead and then show 'em who you are. Show 'em that you're strong. Show 'em they've been seeing you all wrong." Kiara looked down. "Open up their minds. Throw away the key. Tell 'em that you are and you'll always be"
"The Queen of Mean…" Violet sang. "The Queen of Mean...yeah. You define yourself, oh. You and no one else."
"Show 'em who you are." Violet continued, stopping in front of Kiara. "Show 'em that you're strong." Violet took out some sort of blue jewel from her pocket and held it in front of her. "Show 'em that you've known it all along." The blue jewel glowed. "Open every door. Own your destiny. Live as if you are what you were and you've been and you'll always be."
"The Queen of Mean…" Violet sang. "The Queen of Mean...the Queen of Mean...the Queen of Mean...the Queen of Mean!" She ended the song, yelling the last part.
Kiara immediately shot her head up. She smirked evilly and for a quick second, her eyes changed color from their blue to pink.
"You're back. Did you find someone to help?" May asked.
Kiara just entered May's room. She met that mysterious girl, named Violet, in the city. And she relived that day when she became the Queen of Mean. And she wants it again.
"I didn't help anyone, but I did talk to the people." Kiara answered, hiding the fact that she met Violet. "I'm really starting to feel loved by them."
"See? I told you that'd happen eventually." May said. "You became an amazing Princess that they love."
Kiara smirked. "Yeah...but wouldn't being...the only Princess they love be better?" She asked, walking towards May.
"What do you mean?"
Kiara continued walking towards May. Her eyes glowed pink. "I mean that there's only room for one Princess of Hoenn…"
May started walking backwards towards the balcony. "Kiara…"
"And that's me!" Kiara yelled angrily.
May bumped into the railing of the balcony. "Kiara, what's going on? Why are your eyes glowing like that?"
Kiara stopped 5 feet away from May. "Because the Queen of Mean never dies." She answered evilly.
"No…" May muttered to herself.
Kiara laughed evilly and all of a sudden, pink smoke appeared from out of nowhere and surrounded Kiara's entire body. Inside the smoke, Kiara's outfit was changing. Her dress turned pink and black in an evil look. Her black hair got pink streaks in it. Her whole look was just like before.
The pink smoke disappeared. May's eyes widened. The Queen of Mean is back.
"Hmm...I think I'm missing something." Kiara said. "Oh. That's right." She said evilly. "Scepter!" She said as she firmly stretched her right arm out. In a quick second, what wasn't there before was now there. Her scepter. The black long scepter with the purple magical jewel at the top.
"Kiara, what happened?" May asked.
"What do you mean what happened?" Kiara asked ominously. "The Queen of Mean never left. Didn't I tell you that she's always a part of me?"
"Yes. But did something happen in town that...made you feel like you had to turn into her again?"
"That's for me to know and you to find out."
"This isn't right, Kiara, and you know that."
"I do, do I?"
"Kiara, enough playing around. Magic is dangerous-"
"I want to be dangerous." Kiara said immediately after May's sentence. "You thought that I actually would fit in, changing back to a normal Princess." She said, walking back into the room. "But they never forget."
May started walking towards Kiara.
"And I'll never forget why I became the Queen of Mean in the first place…" Kiara said. She immediately stopped and turned around. "It's because of you!" She yelled. May stopped walking.
"I didn't do anything to you." May said.
"The throne, the love…I wanted it all for myself." Kiara said darkly.
"The throne is rightfully mine." May said. "I'm older than you, so you have no reason to be mad at me for it. And the love of the people was yours too. I never took that away from you."
"Of course you say that, because you've never been in my shoes before. You don't know what it's like to want something so badly, only to be told that it will never happen!"
"...you're right, Kiara. I don't know what that feels like. But I do know what it feels like to want something badly. I would cry myself to sleep during the summer, because I wasn't able to see or talk to Drew."
"You got over it though, right?" Kiara questioned, a bit harshly.
"I…"
"And in the end, you got to finally be with him." Kiara continued. "So you know nothing of what I've felt like!"
"Kiara, why do you want to be Queen anyway?"
"Isn't it obvious? As the second Princess, I'm basically nothing. But as Queen, I'll be everything. I want to feel important, because as Princess, I don't!"
"You don't? You could've talked to me about it, Kiara." May said. "I would've helped you."
"I prefer not. It will just make me even more mad at you. Now, if you'll excuse me, the only thing I'm missing for this outfit is my crown." With that said, she used her scepter to levitate herself and she flew out of the room towards the Throne Room.
"Kiara, no." May muttered. She pulled out her scepter and ran out of the room after Kiara.
In the hallway…
"Kiara, stop!" May called.
Kiara ignored May and continued levitating towards the Throne Room.
"Teleport." A voice in May's head told her. "Think of where you want to go."
"Thanks, Scepter. Let's see if this works…" May said. She closed her eyes while running. "Teleport."
The heart jewel glowed pink and May disappeared. She reappeared in the Throne Room and stumbled to the floor.
Caroline gasped. "May, are you alright?" She asked from her Throne.
May stood up. "I'm fine, but soon Hoenn won't be."
"What do you mean?" Norman asked.
"The Queen of Mean is back." May said.
At that moment, the doors slammed open. Kiara levitated inside and landed on the floor. May turned around and they all looked at Kiara.
"Kiara, that's as far as you go." May said.
Kiara smirked evilly. "Oh really?" She stretched her right arm out to the side and tapped the scepter on the floor.
Caroline started floating up in the air. In a quick second, her dress turned into a basic t-shirt and jeans, and her crown disappeared and reappeared on Kiara's head.
Caroline was just dropped. She started falling to the ground. May quickly turned around.
"Levitate!" May called, pointing her scepter to Caroline. Before Caroline could hit the floor face first, she froze in midair, 2 inches above the floor. She was lifted up and sat on her Throne. May brought her hand down.
"Are you okay?" Norman asked.
"I'm fine." Caroline answered. "Thank you, May."
May faced Kiara. "There's no time for thank yous. I've got a sister to save again."
The crown on Kiara's head grew a little and changed its look to look more evil. "That's more like it." Kiara said evilly. "Now, it's time to show Hoenn who their Queen is."
"Kiara, don't." May said.
Kiara laughed evilly and then she disappeared into thin air. She reappeared at the front of the castle.
May gasped. "Where did she go?"
"May." Caroline said.
May turned around. "Mom, Dad, I need to go after her."
"We know." Caroline said. "We just wish there was something we could do to help."
"Hmm…" May hummed, thinking. "If you both really want to help, you can send every guard out to make sure the people stay inside. Tell everyone in Hoenn to stay inside until further notice." May lifted up her scepter to the sky. "Teleport!" May disappeared and reappeared in front of the castle gates. She stumbled after teleporting, but she found her balance.
