We Broke The Rules

Chapter Twelve

Itachi was bored as he listened to the old man that had been following him around, begging for his attention. Itachi had finally stopped to listen to him, even though he had about twenty other people also wanting to do the same. It wasn't easy juggling all these people but this man looked desparate to pitch his idea to him. And in the end Itachi had to admit that his persistence had won him over.

"Mr. Uchiha, thank you for stopping," The man's eyes glittered with appreciation "my name is Harold Marsh and my invention is for a new form of gaming, and I think that with your technology of Red Moon being implemented into my design, we could have a large market!" The man started to rattle off how he wanted to create a virtual world where people could immerse themselves. Not just that, but make actually bring the digital world into the real one. The idea was interesting but Itachi could see how people could turn him down, as it was still also very new and underdeveloped. Honestly it was the next step to evolve technology, yet it was something not many wanted to gamble with.

While it had merit, the technology alone would take years to perfect for a real immersion. There were already VR gadgets being done, but this man wanted to go beyond that. It made it a bit hard to be his sponsor alone because of the uncertainty.

Itachi was about to tell him to try again and with next time showing him a bit of evidence and more concrete planning to the technology he wanted. He wanted him to pitch it again in a few months but before he could even say anything, Sasuke cut in front of the man. He blinked when his little husband stuck his hand out and said, "Hello stranger, I'm Uchiha Sasuke and you are?"

Itachi reached for his hand, "Uchiha Itachi," and felt Sasuke squeeze his hand when he thought about looking around. They had never role played before, but Itachi was sure that it had to be that. After all, Sasuke was supposed to be with his mother right now. His husband's mischievous dark eyes told him that this was all his idea and it had Itachi amused.

"Hey! I was talking to him you can't just cut in!" The old man that had been talking to Itachi started to huff in anger. "Please wait your turn like everyone else has! Mr. Uchiha is a busy man."

"Please sir, you are missing quite the opportunity, Sasuke here runs a company that designs and develops original technological components to customize any computer of your choosing. I think your idea would fit his department a lot better in what you want to build," Itachi easily said, making the man's eyes widen with delight as he smiled and blushed as he got a good look at Sasuke. Ah, this young man was a beauty as well.

"Hello! I am Harold Marsh and I have an invention for the ages, I have the idea for how we can create a better playing experience by bringing a virtual reality all around us—oh here's my business card for your consideration of course, as I was saying…" The man started to rant out his fantasy and Sasuke stared a bit confused as he listened. He was not too keen on the idea, thinking that it still had a lot more development to go through and it seemed to be just a dream.

"That sounds very interesting Mr. Marsh, do you have something to show so far that can prove that something like this can be done, other than the VR thing I mean. Something that you yourself have created?" Sasuke asked.

"That's what I want a sponsorship with either of you, the technology of your company Mr. Uchiha, it's fantastic, but if you have components that are compatible, I mean really I can see it happening Mr…Sasuke?" he asked a bit confused.

Sasuke flinched a bit, "Well, I have your contact, what if I send you a few of the tools my company offers when customizing your own computer and you can work out a deal with Mr. Uchiha when it comes to installing the software of your choice. If you can prove to do something with that offer, we will sponsor you through the rest."

The man looked grateful as he bowed, shook their hands, and thanked them both for the opportunity before walking away from them. Sasuke sighed in relief once he was gone.

"You handled that well," Itachi praised. "I think his dream is a bit outlandish but you don't want to discourage it either as well as you don't want to just invest. But offering a little will encourage him to perfect and if he can deliver, the better." Sending the man components to create something with his idea was a bit of a high risk because that was money on their part, but not something they couldn't spare.

"That was interesting. I think that he's living in a world of fantasy if you ask me," Sasuke said, turning to look at Itachi and then smirked. "My mom is watching us by the way. I told her I would come and score a date with you to later break your heart."

Itachi smiled at him, "I'm sorry, do I know you?"

Sasuke huffed and turn away from him ready to walk away. "I just wanted to spend some time with you okay and get away from her. We only see each other at night. Please?"

"I'm just joking love, come here," Itachi called, making Sasuke move closer to him. When he moved a bit too close that he was about to collide into his chest, Itachi pocked his forehead to keep him at a slight distance. After all, he had just said that his mother was watching. Sasuke pouted while rubbing his forehead. "I can't believe you would tell your mom that you would come and try to hurt me, really love, but if you so want I will indulge you. Do you want to have dinner with your perverted husband?" Itachi offered his arm to him.

Sasuke gave Itachi a deadpanned look as he said, "Please don't call yourself perverted Itachi, I would like to still believe you're a gentleman."

"Maybe in public," Itachi muttered as Sasuke took his arm, latching himself close.

"Of course," Sasuke agreed, and the two turned to start to walk away. Kisame was so confused, as he had just listened to them and was a bit nervous about the whole Sasuke's mom is watching. He decided to keep close to the couple, blocking anyone's view of how they flirted and teased each other.

Sasuke liked to call Itachi a pervert, but he wasn't any better. The way Sasuke kept close and even brushed against Itachi was not innocent in anyway. Kisame had to look away a few times when things got a little to risqué.

He sighed in relief when he noted that Itachi was leading them into the VIP restaurant that was closed off for only the big business companies. Itachi's had been invited this year as one of the VIP and Kisame looked briefly over his shoulder to see Sasuke's mother, and two others pause by the door.

Itachi and Sasuke were quickly led to a table where the three of them sat down comfortably. Kisame really did feel like the third wheel on their date.

"Are they coming in, Kisame?" Itachi asked.

Kisame looked over his shoulder once more, and nodded his head. He could see Sasuke's mom and the two other talking to the receptionist and they were definitely getting their way. "Yeah," Damn, it looks like there was going to be no escape. "Why do the two of you like playing these kinds of games?"

"We're married, we aren't doing anything wrong," Sasuke huffed.

Itachi smiled. "He's right you know."

"You two are not in that position right now, what about the plan for when Sasuke takes over TakaCT CO." Kisame hissed at them, frustrated with how careless both Itachi and Sasuke were acting. Itachi sighed.

"We're just going to have dinner and talk, we aren't going to let them know anything is happening," Itachi said, taking the menu, "At least not today."

"Relax Kisame, we're not stupid," Sasuke scoffed, also reaching for a menu. Kisame rolled his eyes and slumped into his chair. He was going to have to trust both that everything would be okay. Either that or they were both going to be the death of him.

Kushina drew out her cell phone into video chat, and called her husband. Minato answered right away, greeting his wife lovingly. "Dear, we need to get into this restaurant," Kushina turned the phone towards the restaurant.

Minato blinked when he saw the restaurant, "Why do you want to go in there?" he asked. "I don't think that you even like the food they serve in these places."

"Please Minato," Kushina pleaded, turning the phone back onto herself and showed her best pout.

"Please dad!" Naruto added, jumping in beside her.

Minato flinched as he was faced with both his wife and son's puppy dog eyes. "Alright, go up to one of the receptionists and let me talk to them." With that said, Kushina grabbed Mikoto's arm and moved forward. She approached one of the receptionists, and showed the phone. "Hello, this is Namikaze Minato, please allow my wife entrance." With saying that he also showed his pass that allowed him to have this privilege.

"Right away sir," The receptionist nodded with a smile.

"Thank you my love," Kushina chirped, and turned off the phone to follow the receptionist to their seats. The lady handed them menus before bowing once more to leave saying she will be back to take their orders. Naruto and Mikoto looked around until they spotted Itachi and Sasuke. The two of them were sitting on opposite seats, and looking through the menu while the large guard looked bored.

His body hid most of what was happening, but the fact that he was leaning a bit to his side allowed them to see, but just barely. "Um, excuse me," Kushina called to a passing waiter, "Could we be moved over there," she motioned to seats that would be on the other side and would allow them to see clearly what was going on.

"I'm sorry, the seats on that side are reserved," The waiter said, looking at them apologetically.

"Oh, that's okay then," Kushina smiled but pouted as soon as the man left. "Damn, I'm sorry Mikoto," she turned to her friend.

"It's alright, as long as we can sort of see them," Mikoto returned the smile and turned back to look at her son. Nothing special seemed to be going on. The two were just ordering food. It was hard to say if they were even talking to each other.

"So far it looks like its going okay," Naruto commented, "Damn I hope Sasuke doesn't do something to get Itachi mad at him, he can be so irritating."

"That he can be," Mikoto agreed.

"Like I said, this will be interesting," Kushina cackled then they all flinched when the receptionist returned with some water and asking to take their orders. They ordered and took their water, once more turning to look at the show before them.

They kept their eye on Itachi and Sasuke, shifting whenever Kisame got in the way. It looked like they were just talking though.

"They look like they are running a business meeting or something," Kushina frowned, thinking how boring all of this was. Mikoto and Naruto found themselves bored as well. Although, on Mikoto's part she was relieved that nothing was happening between her son and Itachi.

Itachi raised an eyebrow when he heard Sasuke's order. "Are you sure you're going to be able to eat all of that?" he asked.

"What, you can't pay for my food Itachi," Sasuke asked in return, being defensive. He knew he had ordered a bit more than what he would usually order, but he kind of wanted to stay around Itachi as long as possible. In his mind, ordering a lot of food justified prolonging this.

Itachi smirked, "I can more than gladly pay for your meals, Sasuke, and you know that."

Sasuke then shrugged, "Then don't question what I order. I'll eat it all, okay," Sasuke reached for the water that had been set before him. He took a sip, glad that it was cool.

"I saw you at the seminar earlier today, what did you think about it?" Itachi suddenly asked. Sasuke's eyes widened a bit.

"You knew I was there?" Sasuke asked. He had been so sure that Itachi had not even noticed him.

"Hard to miss you and your mother gawking my way," Itachi teased, a slight smirk crossing his lips.

Sasuke blushed a bit, reaching to twist his fingers over the napkin that had been set with the utensils. "We were just talking about how your dad killed my dad, and I asked mom what she knew about your dad…your birth giver, nothing too drastic."

Itachi could tell that Sasuke was hiding something from him, "Is that it?" Itachi asked.

Sasuke nodded, "Yes that's it."

"Well, I can answer that for you. I believe they were some form of childhood friends. I think that is why they are acting the way that they are and even made up rules for us to follow. In fact, I'm a bit amazed that your mother let you come over here and flirt with me," Itachi said.

Sasuke smirked, "Actually, she and aunty Kushina were just teasing me about how I would never be able to score a date with you," Sasuke looked triumphant now "I managed it though."

"Not that hard when I'm in love with you," Itachi shrugged.

"You know, Naruto had the balls to say that I was nowhere near your league, that's when it got personal," Sasuke hissed.

Itachi chuckled, "You're completely my type."

"Am I?" Sasuke asked, "I mean, technically, you and I are not supposed to know each other, remember?"

"That's how we ended up married," Itachi nodded, he remembered. Sasuke flinched at that.

"Itachi…would you have not married me if you had known who I was?" Sasuke softly asked. That was when the waiter returned with their meals and drinks. Itachi thanked them, before regarding his husband once more.

"I would have married you, but I fear you would not have," Itachi said instead. He briefly glanced at Kisame who decided to dig into his food a bit aggressively. The man was obviously upset that he had to witness their date.

Sasuke shrugged, "We had rules to follow, I would have hesitated and probably run away, no doubt," Sasuke answered. He knew himself. He would have not allowed Itachi near him. It would have been a battle with being attracted to the man versus having to follow the rules.

"I would have done my best to follow you and tried to make you mine," Itachi said, because he wasn't one to give up. He found loopholes and he would have tried to make it work. "When I met you I don't know, I felt something so deep for you. I was already so in love before we even had the idea of marriage. I just wanted to stay at your side and be with you forever." Itachi looked down at the food in front of him. His love for Sasuke had hit hard and come fast, it scared him sometimes. "If we wouldn't have gotten married, I still would try to change your mind and work to place myself in a position for us to be together," Itachi confessed.

Sasuke looked at his food as well, "I was scared you know, I would have fought to make sure you never got me." Sasuke confessed. "I wouldn't be thinking about taking over the company, I would probably do my best to get away from it. Because even though I love you too I would have tried my best to just live a normal life as possible," Sasuke knew that it was cowardly, to run away from what he wanted, but he also did what he wanted.

Even if that meant leaving Itachi.

"You don't think I would have been able to change your mind if we weren't married?" Itachi asked, sad at the very idea of that happening.

Sasuke hesitated, but looked up at Itachi as he admitted, "You would have…you would have changed my mind, I would be with you." Sasuke sighed, "I hate to admit it, but I don't just fall into bed with you because I don't feel something for you that happens because I love you," Sasuke got a sour look on his face, "I want us to succeed Itachi, despite everything in the way," Sasuke looked up, and blushed when he saw the soft smile on Itachi's face.

Damn it, if he didn't love this man so much it hurt.

"We will succeed Sasuke, I promise you. I just want you to be careful when you take over the company," Itachi spoke, moving his food around. "I'm not going to let some rules dictate the rest of our lives."

Sasuke smiled back, "I agree. You have to be careful too." Sasuke stabbed his food before shoveling some in.

"I heard that Kimimaro will be coming the last day so you can meet him," Itachi said, "Remember we plan on merging our companies, and we have to figure out how. I hope the two of you are able to talk and form an idea." Itachi would have loved to be able to be included in that meeting but with Mikoto around that would be impossible.

"Did he succeed in securing Anko's body?" Sasuke asked, taking a sip of his water.

Itachi nodded, "He has, he said that the knowledge of her pregnancy was released to your uncle though," Itachi took a bite of his food. He swallowed before saying, "Your uncle was the father, that means he was one of the last people to be close to her. I don't think he realizes this but this marks him a sure suspect."

"He was?" Sasuke frowned, "So he was wanting a child, but I didn't think Anko would ever give him one, I thought that would be Iruka."

"If your uncle even dares in wanting to take over, I have reason to believe he'd want you out of the way Sasuke, don't let anything he says get to your head." Itachi frowned.

"I won't," Sasuke shoveled more food into his mouth, a bit perturbed at the news he just received.

Both he and Itachi were exchanging charged looks that made Kisame feel hyperaware of them. He felt like they could jump over this table and shove the food aside just to get to each other. Kisame groaned, dropping his head on the table. He hated how mushy these two could get despite their topic of conversation.

"Oh Kisame, we're not that bad," Itachi said, turning to look at that man with a slight smirk, "We do have self-control."

"No you don't, remember I was there on vacation with the two of you!" Kisame muttered angrily.

Sasuke laughed, "We were pretty bad when we first started dating, but my mom, aunty, and the dobe are watching us right now. We can't do that." Sasuke patted the man's head. Kisame swatted his hand away.

"You know Kisame brought Suigetsu with him, where is he anyways, I haven't seen him." Itachi said.

"You didn't tell me you brought Suigetsu," Sasuke gave Kisame a slight glare.

"My heart lives at the pools if you want to see him or whatever," Kisame said, lifting his head, ready to talk about Suigetsu, "He's been getting a sexy tan on him that just drives me crazy, especially when he peels off his clothes and I can see those lines that contrast his pale skin…"

"Kisame, too much information," Itachi said, going back to finishing his meal. He then looked up to see Sasuke struggling with his. "Are you sure you didn't order too much, love?"

"I just want to spend as much time as possible with you," Sasuke groaned, dropping his head down as he didn't want Itachi to see his face.

"You will see me later tonight," Itachi softly said, "if you want we can go for a swim at the pools before then," Itachi offered, "You can just tell your mom you will be hanging out with Suigetsu."

"He is there all the time," Kisame added.

Sasuke pulled out his cell phone, glancing at the time. "That's in about five hours from now though." Sasuke sighed.

"Yeah," Itachi took a sip of his water, "What did you want to accomplish with coming over to talk with me?" he asked. Sasuke tapped his fingers on the table, while he shrugged.

"I just wanted an excuse to do something with you, or just talk with you, nothing really that big," Sasuke said.

"If you want, you can tell her I asked you out again. I know she'd probably worry with your announcement as heir to TakaCT CO is coming up, I don't know if you want to announce us shortly after that?" Itachi asked.

Sasuke hesitated, "I... I really didn't plan all that ahead to be honest, but I guess this is a good way to open up about our relationship." Sasuke liked the thought of no longer having to hide every little single thing between him and Itachi. "Okay," he said, a grin crossing his face. Itachi smiled in return.

"We will figure it out okay, so don't worry too much about it," Itachi reached to brush his fingers over Sasuke's chin, picking a bit of rice that he had there.

Sasuke blushed, his heart hammering in his chest as he brought his hand up to brush some of his hair out of his face. "I know we will, I trust you Itachi."

"I trust you too Sasuke," Itachi stood then, moving over towards Sasuke. Sasuke stood, taking his arm once more as they headed to leave. Kisame stood as well, following after them. Sasuke and Itachi made a scene of parting ways at the front of the restaurant, Itachi gave Sasuke his card and moved to peck him on the cheek. Sasuke had not expected that. They had done so many things together yet something as soft and innocent as a peck on the cheek had his heart racing and his being freezing. He blushed as he absently bid goodbye to Itachi and smiled dopily as he watched him walk away.

His husband was wonderful.

Sasuke didn't go too far, knowing that his mother, Kushina, and Naruto would soon follow.

Back inside the restaurant, the ones watching Itachi and Sasuke were bored as nothing interesting was happening. "I think Sasuke just got into a business talk with Itachi, there was no way Itachi would ask him out to just eat," Naruto figured.

"Yeah, I think that's what happened," Kushina sighed, disappointed.

"Knowing Sasuke though, I'm sure he's trying," Mikoto said. She knew her son well, despite not showing much care towards him. She knew Sasuke was just as stubborn as she was and he would attempt to start something.

It was disappointing to see their dinner come to an end. At least that is what they thought when all of a sudden they saw Itachi lean in and kiss Sasuke's cheek. Sasuke stood there dazed as Itachi said his goodbye, and departed. Sasuke touched his cheek briefly before he walked away. It made them all look at each other shocked, and they needed to know what had happened.

"SASUKE!" Naruto launched his way towards Sasuke.

Sasuke dodged out of the way, but was not able to dodge his own mother who took a napkin and started to wipe his cheek. Sasuke gasped, struggling against her. "Mom, what are you doing!" he demanded.

"I saw what that man did, he kissed you and you let him, how could you!" Mikoto grumbled as she scrubbed harder.

"Mom, it was just a kiss on the cheek, it's not that big of a deal," Sasuke said as he finally released himself from her grasp.

"Oh it's a big deal," Kushina said, placing both her hands on her hips, "That means he wants something with you and is being a gentleman about it, very sneaky of that Uchiha. So, what happened?"

"Nothing, we just talked about his company and he asked me if I was with any company, you know business." Sasuke said.

"I knew it, you are not his type!" Naruto smirked.

"Yeah, well then why would he ask me out again!" Sasuke smugly said.

"He did?" All three asked. Sasuke brought a hand to his lips, looking away from them. Damn, he had not really planned to say that.

"Sasuke in just a few days he will know who you are, I don't like this one bit!" Mikoto hissed. Sasuke grabbed her hands.

"It's okay mom, there's nothing Itachi can do to me. I know who he is okay, calm down," Sasuke then added, "Suigetsu texted me, he said he's at the pool. Why don't we head over and relax?" he asked. Mikoto sighed, and Kushina wrapped an arm around her convincing her that it was best to relax. Naruto wanted to join them but Kurama had texted him asking him to join him for the meanwhile.

Sasuke narrowed his eyes as Naruto waved his shinny ring around proudly as he walked away to meet up with his fiancée.

Sasuke and Suigetsu were talking about their husbands, being hush about it when Mikoto approached them. It was getting late and it was cold around the pool. She was tired and wanted to get to bed already. "Sasuke darling, mommy is going off to bed, I will see you tomorrow," She yawned, patting him on the head and kissing his cheek. Sasuke smiled at her.

"Okay mom, goodnight." He watched as his mother made her way back into the hotel safely. She waved at him and Suigetsu as she went inside.

"I still can't believe she let you go and flirt with Itachi. With all the rules that she has pushed on you you'd think she'd rather beat you than let you go and talk to him" Suigetsu commented, throwing his harms behind his head.

"She didn't like it, but it helped that aunty Kushina was here. I'm sure that is the only reason that I got to go and flirt with Itachi," Sasuke smirked, it had been a risk he would take over and over again. "It was worth it." Sasuke looked up at the sky. Suigetsu hummed as he used one hand to reach for his cup and took a sip of his water, closing his eyes and enjoying the breeze.

Mikoto had paused just inside the hotel, bothered a little. She looked over her shoulder to see them just relaxing and wondered if Sasuke had a thing for Suigetsu. She knew they had been friends for the longest and Suigetsu was his secretary but she couldn't really see them working out together. She wanted someone worthy of Sasuke to be with him, but she had to be patient and see who her son would choose in the end. A part of her prayed it was not Suigetsu though.

She also was not happy with what Sasuke had pulled earlier that day. Going up to Itachi and getting a date with him out of all things. She couldn't believe she had allowed it. No, if Kushina and Naruto had not been there, she definitely would not have allowed it. Walking across the lobby, she paused as she spotted Kakashi sitting by himself, drinking a beer. Once more, she paused. She knew how petty the man could be and had even anticipated him trying to ruin her time here with Sasuke. Honestly though, she had not seen the man at all.

Walking over to him, she sat on the seat beside him. She shot him a look of disappointment. There had to be at least twenty bottles of beer on the table. "What's bothering you now?" She softly asked.

Kakashi didn't bother hiding it, the look of pure sadness on his face as he laid eyes on Mikoto. How was she here? Always looking at him at his worst, "Anko was pregnant with my child, can you believe that? I lost two things that day a wife and a child!" The man sobbed, before he laughed a bit. The tears in his eyes though gave away how much he was hurting.

"Oh Kakashi," She sighed. She knew that Anko and Kakashi were not actively intimate with each other so she had to wonder when that opportunity happened. She wanted to mention that he still had Iruka seeing as Kakashi had been taking solace in him instead of properly grieving, but held her tongue. Now was not the time. "I'm sorry," she whispered. Because there was nothing else that she could say. No nice thing that she could even think of saying.

"It's not your fault, Mikoto. I just was not expecting all this to happen. It just feels like the whole world is against me, crushing me…" the man sighed. Mikoto reached to take his beer away from him, and stood to pat him on the head.

"Go to bed Kakashi, drinking is not going to help you. We will be leaving tomorrow night so be ready," She softly said to him.

"Mikoto…you know Fugaku was so lucky to have you." He croaked, shaking his head at the very thought that her words had been a subtle order.

"I was lucky to have him too," She smiled.

Kakashi had a million other things he wanted to tell her, but he stopped himself. Right now, when he was like this it wasn't safe to open his mouth. He got to his feet and allowed her to lead him to his room. There he crashed into bed, calling a goodnight as she left his room. Mikoto was so wonderful, why was she so in love with Fugaku. Even now, even in death, she was so stuck in love.

What was so great about him!

Why couldn't she love him instead? The idea rattled around in his head, until he fell asleep.

He just wanted to forget that he ever felt anything.

Sasuke ran to hug Itachi the moment that he spotted him coming into the pool area, throwing his arms around his neck. Itachi flinched when he felt how cold and wet Sasuke was. He smiled, leaning in to capture his lips. Sasuke moaned, returning the kiss, his hand moving to cup Itachi's cheek as he opened his mouth to welcome him in. Sasuke shivered as his cold tongue met Itachi's hot one, and found himself wanting more of his warmth, grinding slowly against him. Itachi's hands, gently squeezing on his hip served only to encourage him.

"Damn, save some for the bedroom already," Kisame walked past them, rolling his eyes. He then opened his arms calling for Suigetsu. "Suigetsu my love, come to papa."

"Kisame, my papa, come join me in the pool instead," Suigetsu called back. Kisame groaned when he spotted his husband floating in the water like the little guppy that he was. He grumbled as he moved to get into the cold water, suit and all, determined to fish his husband out. It didn't help that Suigetsu started to giggle and paddle away from him.

"You're kind of late," Sasuke glared at Itachi lightly. His mouth moved to nibble at Itachi's jaw.

"Late meeting, a surprise really, but I'm here now," Itachi murmured, kissing along Sasuke's neck and jaw. "I'm sorry." He added when Sasuke pulled on his cheeks to keep him from doing more. Itachi groaned and Sasuke laughed lightly.

"It's okay, let's go to bed," Sasuke yawned, snuggling into Itachi.

Itachi knocked Sasuke's feet from under him, cradling him into his arms. Sasuke gasped, tightening his arms around his neck as he looked up at Itachi, startled. He didn't complain as Itachi took them to their bedroom, undressing him so he'd be able to change into warm clothes. The two of them talked over what happened that afternoon, and teased each other over it, before they fell asleep comfortably, together.
