Hundreds of iron crystals rained down onto Kaneki as he dodged, and blocked them with his four rinkaku kagunes, spinning rapidly in front of him.

After Kaneki has finished the crystals, he heard another series come from his back. He didn't leap out of the way in time, and felt a sharp crystal pierce his leg.

How fast can he be? Kaneki grunted, and out of the corner of his eyes, saw the raven-haired teen come from his right. Immediately, Kaneki's rinkaku kagunes shot towards him. Moving his body slightly, Ayato made Kaneki's kagunes miss him, and make Kaneki wide open. However, just as Ayato was about to smash his wings down to Kaneki's head, he felt the side of Kaneki's kagune smack him into midair.

He landed a few feet away on his feet, panting hard. Kaneki felt the wound on his leg disappear in a matter of second. Did Dr. Kanou give me this ability? Amazing!

With a short break, Ayato sped towards him like a lightning bolt. Whether it was Kaneki's amnesia at effect, or Ayato's anger enhancing his abilities, as Kaneki was about to strike him with his kagune, Ayato suddenly swerved to his side, and appeared behind him.

Kaneki gasped, but was instantly pierced through the shoulders by two wings.

Spitting out blood, Kaneki collapsed to the ground, and Ayato instantly landed on top of him, and clasped Kaneki's throat with his hand.

"You bastard. Who do you think you are? You think you can hurt my sister and get away with it?" Ayato's murderous kakugans widened up.

"I-I don't know who your sister is. I-I don't remember anyt-thing." Kaneki struggled to speak with Ayato's iron grip on his throat.

"What did you say? You don't remember anything? YOU HURT MY SISTER AND YOU CLAIM YOU DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING?" Ayato gripped his throat tighter, making Kaneki clench his eyes shut. "Weren't you the one that broke my bones because I made her sad? Weren't you the one that cared for her? WEREN'T YOU THE ONE WHO WANTED TO PROTECT HER?" Shouting into his face, Ayato punched Kaneki's face with an iron fist.

Grunting, Kaneki spat out blood. "I-I swear I don't remember anything."

"You... I wish Touka never met you." Ayato cursed venomously.

"That's enough, Ayato-kun. Kaneki has amnesia, and cannot remember things clearly." Dr. Kanou finally spoke from the side. Cursing under his breath, Ayato released his grip, stood up, and sped away.

"T-Touka-chan?" Kaneki whispered, and his suddenly felt neurons in his head bursting and twisting.

Blurrily, Kaneki made out a teenage girl, with purple hair, same as Ayato's, covering her right eye, smiling at him... A coffee cup appeared in her hand... An old man with a kind face was beside her... And another woman with black hair... Another man with a big nose... And... A little girl with tears in her eyes.

"AHHHH!" Kaneki covered his head with his hand.

"It's okay, Kaneki-kun. They're your memories returning to you." Dr. Kanou walked up, and lifted Kaneki up from the ground.

"P-Papa, it hurts so much. I saw an image, but can't make out the people's names." Kaneki whimpered.

"It's alright, I'll take you back inside for rest." Dr. Kanou said with a fatherly voice, and led Kaneki into his ward room.

Kaneki sat a small couch in a waiting room. He stared curiously at the book on the small bookshelf beside him. It seems strangely familiar... Grabbing the book, he read the book cover: The Black Goat's Egg by Sen Takatsuki, and began reading it from the first page.

"You like reading books, Kaneki-kun?" Kaneki heard a soft voice in front of him, and looked up in alarm. He didn't notice anyone enter the room.

It was Eto.

"Uh- Erm- Yes, I don't know." Kaneki blurted out, then suddenly remembered the scene in the hallway.

"What do you want?" He asked cautiously, his body tense.

Without answering, Eto sat down on the couch beside him, making Kaneki gasp and shift a tiny bit away from her.

"Do you like the book you're reading?" Eto asked gently.

Surprised by the question, Kaneki lifted his eyebrow. "Well... yes. It felt like maybe I've read this book before in the past." Then, realizing that he just told Eto about his inner thoughts, he blushed a little, and looked down, making Eto giggle a little.

"Who is the author of the book?" She asked.

"Sen... Takatsuki," Kaneki read from the cover, "she seems familiar too... as if I read a lot of her works..." He said with doubt.

"Kaneki-kun, what if I tell you that I'm Sen Takatsuki?" Eto asked teasingly.

With a gasp, Kaneki looked at Eto, then regained his calm expression. "You're lying, aren't you? Is this one of your manipulations that Papa has warned me about?" Hearing "papa", Eto tensed a little, but retained her smile.

"I'm not lying, Kaneki-kun. I've written several books as my human ego, Sen Takatsuki. In fact, I remember that you were quite a fan of my work before you lost your memories." As Eto said this, she shifted closer to Kaneki.

"I-I was?" Something buried deep in his mind told Kaneki that Eto wasn't lying.

"Yes. I know a lot about you. I can help you restore your memories." Eto was right beside Kaneki now, her bandaged face lower than Kaneki's, her right hand on Kaneki's left thigh. Kaneki's face turned a tinge rouge out of his control. Eto smirked at noticing that Kaneki hasn't lost all of his original characteristics.

"Well... I suppose that you should tell me about my past then."

"That's my Kaneki," Eto said cheerfully, and was about to begin, when a voice interrupted her.

"I don't think this is the time, Eto. I was about to take Kaneki to somewhere." Dr. Kanou appeared at the entrance of the waiting room. Eto was first surprised, but scrutinized
Dr. Kanou furiously.

"Kaneki wants to hear about his past, right Kaneki-kun?" Eto asked Kaneki.

"Erm, well... if Papa wants to take me somewhere, then I should go." Speaking quietly, Kaneki placed the book on the small shelf, sat up from the couch, and walked over to Dr. Kanou without a second glance.

Gritting her teeth, Eto sat on the couch, alone, unable to change anything.

Then, an idea popped into her head.

"Papa took Kaneki to a coffee shop." Nashiro said to her twin.

"Ah, really." Kurona just shrugged, and continued to walk down the hallway.

"In exchange for eternal nausea, they attained a life where they could love yet be loved for eternity."

Nashiro and Kurona turned around in surprise to hear a voice.

"However, no matter how much you fill that empty hole, the fact it is empty will never change."

They saw a bandaged girl at the other end of the hallway, her single kakugan flaring just like Kurona and Nashiro's. They realized that it was the same girl who tried to possess Kaneki the other day in the hall. Anger roamed their minds as they sped towards the girl.

"Why are you speaking such nonsense?!" They shouted as their kagunes were about to pierce Eto's body.

In a blink of an eye, she was no longer there.

She was at the other end of the hall, where they stood a few seconds ago.

To be continued...
