Another day rises in Akihabara, but unfortunately, it is not a sunny day. It is very cloudy with a chance of rain today, and the temperature begins to slightly turn cold as it is the signal that time of winter will soon approach. Over at a very huge luxurious apartment, Okabe and Kurisu are awake after sleeping the night together. But the morning did not exactly rise the way they wanted it too.
Okabe is currently sitting on his side of the bed, currently having an ice pack on his head because of the dream he had last night. Kurisu decided to make some tea for Okabe to help ease his body, and soon handing it to him
"Thank you, Kuristina." says Okabe as he then drinks the tea.
"Your welcome." There is a pause. "Tell me, did the dream with the little girl happen again?"
Okabe stops drinking and puts in down on the table. "Yea. It would seem however that this time, she was having the same reaction as me. It's strange. It is the first time this has ever happened."
Kurisu thinks. This one dream that keeps recurring in Okabe's mind has been such a very unusual phenomenon, and it is very difficult to know what is triggering it. "Well the only thing I can suggest is to see if you can ever find that girl again."
He then remembers her mentioning that just meeting the person once could already result in having dreams with that person, but there is an issue. "That is an interesting idea, Assistant. But that is easier said than done. Who knows where she could be. For all I know, she is not even in Japan."
'I was only trying to suggest something. After all, I don't know what to tell you about your dream. Sorry." says Kurisu as she feels a bit down.
"Don't worry. At least as it occurs more often, I have also gotten used to the after effects of waking up. If any case, I'll just have a constant headache as I adapt to them more."
"Well if you're ok with it, then that's fine. Just be careful."
Okabe puts on his persona. "Oh I will. After all, the organization is trying to torture my mind with illusions! But now I am well aware of that and must prepare counter measures!"
Kurisu sighs as Okabe is already back to his normal self. "Seems you are confident already."
He gives a quick laughs. "Of course." There is a pause. "Well, I need to drop off my things back to my home before heading to the old lab." As he gets ready to walk out with his belongins he brought, he stops and remembers something. "Thank you, Kurisu, for letting me stay over last night. I hope we can do this more often."
Kurisu stops in what she was doing, and smiles, as she then goes up to Okabe and gives him a kiss on the lips. "Thank you, for coming over. We will do this again next time, but at your place?"
He smiles. "After I get a bed, ok?"
"Sure."
Before the scene changes, on the TV that Kurisu left on, the reporter is explaining about how America and Russia are currently not in good relations at all, and they are tensions rising as some trade boats have been bombed by unknown groups.
At the Radio Building, everything seems to be normal, but only for a moment. The rooftop suddenly is distorted, revealing the same invisible machine from a month ago. Then, the machine begins to lose it's invisibility, show a very similar style of being like a satellite from years ago. However, the mainframe is the only this somewhat different, which is updated with today's technology. It is the same time machine that occurred back in the past. Then the front doors open up, while letting out smoke from how long it was closed. Who appears from the doorway is a person, but not yet revealed other than one thing.
"Where...am...I." says the mysterious person. The person's voice is gentle, like it is a girl's voice who is just entering her early teens. She is currently confused, but she then decides to move from the time machine, and head inside the Radio Building, as the doors to the machine close, and turning the whole thing back invisible.
Near the Radio building, Mayuri, Luka, and Moeka are together, walking around after selling another cosplay outfit. "Today is a bit gloomy, but Mayushii is very happy in the end, because we managed to sell another outfit."
"They even bought it for such a high price too." says Luka.
Mayuri thinks. "Hmm. Maybe we should save the money for the end of the year. After all, Okarin's birthday and Christmas are not that far behind."
Moeka begins typing fast and sends it to Luka. Luka opens his phone to check Moeka's email. "Kiryu sent a message. "That sounds like a very good idea. Then we could have a huge party." Indeed. We could get lots of stuff for every lab member too."
Mayuri agrees happily. "Mhm. Well, let's go visit Faris at Mayqueen to tell her the news."
Over at "Mayqueen Nyannyan," Faris is busy as usual to make sure the café is in order and the customers are being served. Fortunately, it is not crowd so the employees can have breaks. Moments later, Mayuri, Luka, and Moeka arrive to tell her about the news while they sit at a table.
"Oh?! You manage to sell the outfit-nyan?! That's awesome-nyan!" says Faris.
"Mhm! Thanks to your suggestion, we managed to sell one and we have a couple more orders requested for one too!" says Mayuri. She then hands out some money to Faris. "Here, this is for your help in selling the outfit." Mayuri smiles.
Faris nods to decline the money and smiles. "No, you worked hard to make it-nyan. I just offered a suggestion to make your outfit better-nyan. Keep it, because you earned it-nyan."
Mayuri is shocked. "A-Are you sure?!"
Faris smiles and nods back. "Yep! Keep it-nyan!"
"Thank you! I will then!"
Faris and the rest of the group continue talking through about other things as close friends for sometime. Moments later, the door to the place opens. Who comes in an unknown person, as she slowly looks around to see the place, with her revealed blue eyes. She then slowly walks over the counter and taps on the counter to get the employee's attention.
"Umm, excuse me?"
The employee turns around to see the girl. "Oh? What can I help you with?"
The girl's tone is shy but asks anyway. "Umm, do you have water? I'm so thirty and don't have anything to drink."
"Well we do, but where are your parents?"
The girl is more shy, but still responds. "N-Not here."
The employee is concerned for the girl and decides to call for Faris. "Manager!"
Faris hears her name and walks up to the employee to listen in. "There is a girl here who is asking for water, but she is not with her parents."
Faris fills up a glass of water and hands it over to the mysterious girl. "Hey little girl. Here you go-nyan."
The girl slightly smiles. "Thank you." She takes a moment, before deciding to drink it.
"Do you know where your parents are-nyan?" Faris asks.
The girl takes a moment to think, before responding. "Not here. They are far away from home."
Faris is shocked. "So you live all alone-nyan?"
"No, I have a big sister, but she suddenly vanished."
Faris is surprised about the girl's current situation, and decides to take the girl over to Mayuri and the group so they can help with what is currently happening. "So, your family is not here in Japan right now?" Moeka asks.
"Yea." the girl responds with certainty.
Mayuri feels bad for the girl as she is all alone and trying to take care of herself. She decides to help. "Well, how about you come with us to our place so we can take care of you. We can help until we find out about your family."
"Yea." says Luka. "Maybe Kyouma-san can help you find them as well.
The girl nods, and she gets this unknown feeling of safety already. "Ok."
"But tell me, what is your name?" Mayuri asks
The girl slowly reveals her clothing to have a white a light blue striped top with a light blue dress and a ribbon on her waist, with grey legging that goes down to her knees. Her facial features have blue eyes, and her hair is dark red. "My name is Kagari." she says as she smiles and slightly blushes. "It's nice to meet you."
The scene changes to the inside the Future Gadget Laboratory. Everyone is working as usual on research and experiments to create future gadgets and other necessary research of advancement. Kurisu is managing her group, and Maho is managing her group. Over at the lower floor, Okabe and Daru talk to Leskinen in a video call through a very private computer to prevent information being traced by any way possible.
"We have sent you the information on the research through a private link." says Daru. "That way, no one will track you with this information. Just make sure to delete it from your history after downloading it for extra precautions."
"Thank you! I knew I could count on you guys!" says Leskinen. "With this away from the enemy, we could get back to researching teleportation."
"We wish you the best of luck, Professor Leskinen." says Okabe.
"Thank you, Lintahlo." Leskinen clears his throat. "Now as promised, I said I would reward you for your efforts. So, since you guys are trustworthy friends of mine, and who were once my best students at the University, I will allow you guys to help with the teleportation research."
Okabe and Daru's eyes widen in shock. "Huh?! A-Are you sure, professor?! Daru asks.
"Sure. With the greatest computer scientist I know and with the next Einstein in the research, I believe we can reach another step in finding out about teleportation."
"T-Thank you for the reward!" says Okabe. "W-We will gladly help you in discovering teleportation!"
"Indeed. Now, starting today, I would like to know about anything you have discovered in your research of teleportation, and I will do the same. You guys should still have a copy on the research papers, so you can keep them and use them to your advantage."
Okabe smiles puts on his persona. "Don't worry. I, the insane mad scientist, will collaborate with another agent of the organization. But this is so I can fool them and gain personal intelligence to plunge this world into chaos!"
Leskinen laughs. "That's the response I wanted to hear. I believe you will do well based on your confidence. Now I must get back to work, so I will message you for an update in a week. See ya"
Both Daru and Okabe say farewell. "See yea."
Moments later, Daru and Okabe head inside his office to speak about their new project. "So, we will be working on the teleportation project." Daru comments.
"Yea. We will need to rebuild those teleportation devices to get started."
"Should we allow the Interns to help with this project?"
Okabe nods in disagreement. "No. For now we gained Professor Leskinen's trust for only us to work on it. Maho and Kurisu may also work on it since they should already know about it and are also trustworthy allies of the organization. Aside from them, no one else may not work on this project with us."
"Well alright." There is a silence. However, it is quickly gone for Daru wanted to mention something to Okabe. "Also Okarin. I found out something interesting."
Okabe becomes curious. "What is it?"
"When I was hacking through the database of the organization who had the research, I found a logo that may be a clue as to who those people were a part of." Daru shows Okabe a picture he took while hacking into the database. The logo doesn't provide much help as to which organization it is, but that can be used for Mr. Braun to help with finding out about it.
Okabe responds to his plan. "It is only a symbol, but we can use it for Mr. Braun so he can find out as to who the logo belongs to. We will need to also watch our backs from now on. We never know what these people can do."
"Your right."
Only one moment is shown, that the logo Daru gave to Okabe is a logo that has a letter D on it, just like the one from last night.
As the sky begins to turn dark over the clouds, everyone in the lab has headed home today. Okabe is the last one left to turn off everything and call it a day. Just before he decided to leave however, he forgot about one important thing, the divergence meter. He set it aside the whole time since he got distracted with life. He then remembers now that the last time he saw it, 2 numbers were shut off which was rather concerning. He decides to look for the meter, which was inside his desk to set it away from his view to not worry about it, and views it's condition. As he takes it out, his eyes widen in shock, to see now the whole meter shut off. He begins to get a bit of paranoia about the meter suddenly not working, but then he remembers Kurisu saying it can just be an electrical problem. After all, the numbers not working most likely means that is the case, and his Reading Steiner never activated. With that in mind, Okabe instead puts the meter down and heads home, believing everything is just fine.
As Okabe walks home, he checks his recent emails he has been receiving. He goes through them and notices that Luka, Mayuri, Moeka, and Faris have sent him emails saying that they have a guest over at his place after explaining the situation. He types back saying he doesn't mind what they're doing since they like helping out a lot. Suddenly, he gets a call from an anonymous user. He answers it to hear who is calling. "Hello, who is this?"
An unknown voice comes through. "You are Rintaro Okabe, right?"
"Yes, that is me."
"Be at the roof of the Radio Building in 10 minutes. I will wait for you there."
Okabe is now very confused. "Huh? Who are you? Why are you tell-"
Suddenly, the unknown caller interrupts his question. "As the only one who has time traveled, you are the only who will understand...what is going on."
When the words "time traveled" are mentioned, Okabe begins to get scared. How does the anonymous person know about that? So he decides to hang up immediately and run straight for the Radio Building with the sense of danger is happening.
Okabe runs through people, while hearing his feet hit the ground hard as he is so desperate to get the Radio Building. He soon manages to arrive, goes inside, and head all the way to the top in almost 10 minutes. At the top, Okabe is out of breath and tries to breathe from all the running. He begins searching around to see if the unknown caller is here and finds no one. Suddenly, from behind, the door opens and who is revealed to be the black cloaked figure from the World Science Festival, who helped him from the enemy soldier.
"So you decided to come after all." says the cloaked figure.
Okabe finishes catching his breath as he is anxious to know. "W-Who are you?! How do you know about me and time traveling?!"
The cloaked figure then put out their wrist to press a button on what appeared to be some sort of wrist gadget. Then a sound whirls from behind Okabe. He slowly turns around in fear as he believes to know what it may already be. As the machine finally reveals itself and turning off its invisibility, Okabe's face becomes complete shock and terror. The machine revealed is to be no other than the time machine. The same machine from the Alpha and Beta Worldlines, with the difference of the mainframe being somewhat different.
"You should already know what this is." says the cloaked figure as they walk up to the machine. "This is a time machine."
"T-T-Then, d-does…...that mean….you are?"
The cloaked figure then takes off the hood. Again, Okabe's face is in shock and terror as the person reveals to be no other than the female who he knew from the future of both the Alpha and Beta Worldlines. "Yes. You should already know me from your previous time traveling journey. My name is Suzhua, Suzhua Amane."
There is a pause. Okabe could not handle instantly the fact that the adult Suzuha is right in front of him, with the time machine. He thought he would never see that again. He thought this could never happen in the Steins Gate worldline. As he continues to think, he begins to get a severe reaction of PTSD. He begins sweating and going crazy in his own thoughts of how the same things from previous worldlines are right before. The nightmare he experienced resurfaces allow over again, as everything that can happen all over again.
Suzuha walks over to Okabe to shake him from his PTSD but it doesn't help. Okabe is in deep thought and he is panicking from his past experiences. Then, she decides to give Okabe a huge slap in the face to force him out of his thoughts and back to reality. Okabe drops to the ground and regains focus. He takes a moment to realize what just happened, as he is back in reality.
"Relax, Uncle Okarin! I haven't even told you anything yet!"
Okabe then realizes he was overreacting and that he should indeed calm down to think about everything that is going on. He takes deep breathes before responding. "S-Sorry. My memories...got the better of me for a moment there."
"I should apologies too...This is the easy way to help with your condition." She sighs. "PTSD. I should have known you would react like that based on what you see right now."
Okabe is surprised about her comment. "S-So, you know about my PTSD..." Okabe implies.
"Yes, in the future that is."
There is a pause. "Why are...you here?" Okabe asks. "Why is there a time machine in the Steins Gate Worldline?"
There is another pause before Suzuha answers. "The time machine was built by my dad in the future, alongside the rest of the lab members."
"Daru and the lab members?" Okabe wonders. "Why? Why did they all do it?!"
Suzuha looks down it a bit of disappointment. "We don't know the exact objective. However, the only known clue from the events that occur in the future are that you right now may have caused a divergence from the Steins Gate Worldline."
Okabe is shocked, but yet, he finds that very hard to believe. "I can't...believe that. If I knew that the worldline has changed, my Reading Steiner would have activated just like my previous experience with time traveling. My Reading Steiner never activated once so there is no way that would have happened. Besides, the time leap machine doesn't exist so there is no way I could have caused a divergence at all."
Suzuha is shocked to hear his answer. She came to the past on a mission to find out if Okabe caused a divergence, but yet, Okabe had caused none based on what he said. That is currently a big problem. "That can't be?! If this is really the Steins Gate Worldline, then the future that is will be always what it is!"
Okabe becomes curious of her claim. "What is the future, Suzuha?"
She takes a moment as she gathers her thoughts. Then, she responds. "World War III."
Okabe becomes shocked to the core.
"In the future, the powerful countries across the world, America, Russia, and Europe will fight against each other which causes massive chaos across the world. Japan gets caught in it's destruction and so will many other countries. "
The thought of World War III begins to make Okabe think excessively again as his PTSD is close to kicking in again. However, he manages to get his composure as he has another thing to ask. "Then, what is the trigger of World War III?"
There is a pause. "I would like to say, however...I will not tell you about it. I will not tell you about events that happen in the future, for as I will want to avoid altering the future that can potentially make it worse."
Okabe thinks for a moment. He can't believe this is all happening, in the Steins Gate Worldline. Now, because his Reading Steiner hasn't kicked in, he believes he is in the Steins Gate Worldline, and that Suzuha's presence with the Time Machine is just a possible outcome of the future which can always be altered, for as the future is always unknown. "Then, I will say no more."
Suzuha is confused. "Huh? What do you mean?"
"Since the worldline didn't change, then we are still in the Steins Gate Worldline. In the laws of the Steins Gate Worldline, anything is possible. That means you can from a potential future this worldline can go to. It can always change since anything in this worldline can always have a different outcome by our actions."
"But Uncle Okarin! That can't be-"
Okabe interrupts her. "No! If my Reading Steiner didn't activate, then we are still in the Steins Gate Worldline! The future is also unknown and could be anything. You standing here with the time machine is proof of one of those outcomes. I will make sure that this worldline will never reach that future!"
Suzuha didn't want to hear Okabe's answer, but she sighs, as he is just being stubborn with his fear of the past. Okabe is just accepting the fact that he can change the outcome of time, but he is not thinking the right way to do it. She decides it will be pointless to argue at this time and instead lets it go. "Look, at least think about it. I am telling you right now, you will need to decide about what I said. The future is unavoidable unless you figure out what at least this worldline is really." Suddenly, Suzuha remembers something. "Your divergence meter is broken, right?"
Okabe is shocked that Suzuha knows about it. "How do you know about the divergence meter in its current condition?"
"I'm from the future, don't forget that." There is a pause. "At least take my word, and fix the meter. Only you can understand what the meter means if you manage to make it work again."
Okabe thinks for a moment before giving his response "Ok. I will consider that, but I will continue to live my life just the way I want as the mad scientist!"
"Sure. Besides, you have time before you will need to make a choice. I will also be sticking around to keep reminding you."
"Then, we are done here." Okabe is a bit upset with the current situation, but he can only move forward for the time being. He turns around to the door and decides to leave. However, before he could, Suzuha had something else to say. "Also, Uncle Okarin. I'm not the only one who came in the time machine."
Okabe's eyes widen and quickly turns back around. "Huh? Someone else can with you in the time machine?"
She nods in agreement. "Yes. She is currently with the lab members. That is also why I had to make an appearance now in front of you with the time machine. She has already involved herself with the others when she is really from the future, and I can't stop that. So only I can trust you to help avoid problems between what she can cause."
"But why? You could just return to the future then to avoid it?"
She sighs. "Did you forget? I told you I have an object in this year. I will not leave till I figure out the truth."
Okabe is concerned for the person Suzuha brought along. This person is already involved with the lab members which is already a different situation which could disrupt time and alter it. However, as long as his Reading Steiner doesn't activate, he can feel assured everything is fine. "Then, is this person aware of the consequences of interfering with the past?"
"You see, that is where it is both a yes and no answer." says Suzuha. There is a long pause. "The person who came along with me currently has Amnesia."
