24 Hours Later

S.H.I.E.L.D. Base (The Playground)

1300 hours

Barry, Skye, Ward, Jemma, Fitz, May, Trip and Coulson all sat around the living room as Coulson finished explaining to the team what had happened in, what may have been, his last and final meeting.

"So you're the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D?" Barry asked

"I guess so." Coulson replied

"Congrats, AC." Skye said "Wait, isn't it DC now? Considering the fact you're 'Director Coulson' and not 'Agent Coulson'."

"Please, call me sir." Coulson said as everyone chuckled at Coulson's comment.

"So what exactly happens now?" Ward asked

"I got no idea." Trip said

"For the first time, I don't know." May said

"I do." Fitz said "We become the S.H.I.E.L.D. we once were, start over. Maybe not all of us can do it, but some of us can."

"He's right." Jemma said, agreeing with her friend.

Coulson then turned to face Barry. "Barry, you're unusually quiet."

"Well, I mean." Barry began "I gotta get back to the Avengers."

"I understand." Coulson said as he eyed Skye. "But I think Skye wants to say something before you leave."

Barry turned to face his girlfriend as Skye took a deep breath and let out a sigh.

"I want to come with you." Skye finally said "Join the Avengers."

Barry looked shocked at Skye's words, was Skye willing to leave all of this behind for Barry? S.H.I.E.L.D.? Coulson and the team? She was willing to give it all up for Barry and she'd done it in a heartbeat.

"Are you sure?" Barry asked "I mean, we may not be coming back to S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Maybe," Skye agreed "But I still want to come with you, no matter what."

"Okay." Barry said "But Romanoff's gonna be training you and she won'-"

"Yes!" Skye interrupted with excitement

"But, but... she will not go easy on you. Neither will Clint or Steve." Barry warned

"I got it." Skye said, nodding

"Okay." Barry said as he held out his hand "Welcome to the Avengers."

"Thanks, Avenger-who-happens-to-be-my-boyfriend." Skye said as she shook Barry's hand.

"Alright, so you're gonna be with the Avengers." Trip said as he, Barry and Skye got up.

"Yeah." Skye said

"I'm gonna miss you." Trip said as he and Skye gave a quick hug as Trip turned to Barry and shook his hand as he pointed to Skye with his other hand. "I don't care if you're an avenger, you hurt her-"

"They'll never find my body." Barry finished "Ward, May and Coulson already told me."

"Guys, chill." Skye joked as everyone around the room laughed

Ward and the rest of the team got up as they bid their friends Barry and Skye farewell, hopefully not forever. Ward and Barry one-armed hugged as Jemma and Skye hugged each other, Barry and Skye bid farewell to the entire team as Barry turned to face the rest of the team.

"We're gonna miss you guys." Barry said to the team

"A whole lot." Skye said

"We'll miss you guys too." Fitz said "I know this sounds weird, but hopefully we get our asses kicked and really need your help."

"Bruh, they can just visit." Trip said, looking at Fitz

"Oh." Fitz realized "I guess that works too."

"No, Fitz is right. Should we truly need your help, it would be longer that you're with us." Jemma said

"They've got a point." Ward agreed

"Anyways, see you guys later." Skye said

"Goodbye, Skye." May said "I hope you visit."

"So do I." Skye said as she smiled at May and May smiled back. Skye turned back to face Barry. "Barry, I'm ready."

"Alright, let's go." Barry said as he picked up Skye and raced out of the room in a flash of orange lightning.

"There they go." Jemma said

"So, what do we do?" Ward asked

"We find any and every person tied to S.H.I.E.L.D. in any way, see if they want to join. Rebuild the S.H.I.E.L.D. system, protect the world, 're-found' S.H.I.E.L.D." Coulson explained.

On the streets, Barry sped Skye through the streets of New York as he stopped inside of Avengers Tower. Barry stood still as Skye looked around the tower, amazed by what she was seeing.

"Wow!" Skye said "Avengers Tower."

"Yeah, that's what it is." Clint said at the stairs

"Oh my god, you're Hawkeye. The Hawkeye." Skye said

"That's what they call me." Clint said as he faced Barry. "Hey kid."

"Hey Clint." Barry replied "Where are Nat and Tony?"

"Nat's helping Cap with some stuff and Tony's gone out with Pepper to god knows where." Clint said "Who's she?"

"Um, right. Clint, this is Skye. Skye, Clint." Barry introduced

"Okay, I've heard a lot about you, Skye." Clint said "Barry never shuts up about you."

Skye and Clint laughed as Barry rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, I do the same for him." Skye said, looking at Barry. "Wait, what about my things?"

"Let's just say Barry and I took care of the surprise before you revealed it." Clint explained

"You got my stuff here, already?" Skye asked Barry

"Everything." Barry replied "Let's go to your room."

"Wait, but-" Skye was interrupted by Barry running her to a room on the higher floor on the tower.

Barry stopped inside Skye's room as he closed the door behind them, Skye glanced around the room as she was impressed by what the tower had to offer her.

"Never mind. This is pretty cool." Skye said

"Yeah, took even me a while to set it up but I hope it's good for you." Barry explained

"I love it." Skye said quickly

"I'm glad you do." Barry said as he reached for the door but Skye's hand stopped him.

Skye moved Barry's hand away from the door as Barry looked at her in confusion.

"You're not getting away that easily, Barry Allen." Skye said as she moved closer to Barry's face and kissed him before moving back.

"Where do you think you're going?" Barry asked

"What do you-" Barry cut off Skye as he kissed her.

Skye held Barry's cheek with her arm, just as their kiss was about to deepen, lightning surged all over Barry's body as he began to vibrate. Barry forced himself away from Skye as he pushed himself back and stopped vibrating with lightning.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't... I'm sorry." Barry said, looking down in guilt for what he had done.

"It's okay, Barry." Skye said

"It's not." Barry argued "If I lose control the next time, you may not be so lucky."

"I trust you." Skye said kissing Barry.

Barry had to pull back, he had to, but he just wanted to stay with her. Just one more second Barry kept thinking. Barry deepened his kiss with Skye as he slowly pulled himself back.

"We can do this." Skye said to Barry holding Barry's cheek with her right hand. "Together."

"Together." Barry agreed

"C'mon, we're watching a movie." Skye said walking towards the bed as she got under the blanket on the left side. "Come on."

"Alright." Barry agreed "You can choose."

Barry grabbed the remote from the desk as he got under the blanket and lied down as he pressed the on button, Skye snuggled into Barry's shoulder as she decided to watch some of the movies from the Harry Potter series. After 10 hours of watching movies, cooking dinner and baking cookies together, Skye drifted off as she fell into dreamless sleep on Barry's shoulder, Barry switched off the the TV as he threw the remote away and fell into sleep with Skye. Barry was sleeping fine until he found himself in a place he never thought he would be in:

Barry was in a park.

Savitar was there as well, he was gripping on Skye's shoulder with his left hand. Barry stared at Savitar in horror as Savitar lifted his other arm, ready to draw his spear. He was going to kill her. This was just like when Savitar was killing Iris, only he wasn't killing her, he was killing Skye.

"Don'!" Barry begged "Don't do this, please!"

"Now finally I am free of you." Savitar said, holding onto Skye

"Barry, I-I... I love you." Skye said, tears pouring from her eyes as her voice broke in fear.

"No, Skye." Barry pleaded "Don't say that."

"Barry!" Skye begged "Help me!"

"You lose, Barry." Savitar said as he drew his spear with his right arm.

"NO!" Barry yelled as tried to run and save Skye.

Savitar, however, was quicker as he drove the spear through Skye's heart. Savitar retracted his spear and disappeared in a flash of blue light as Skye dropped to the ground, Barry had reached as held his dying girlfriend in his arms.

"No, Skye." Barry begged "Come on, come on. Please!"

"Barry... Barry." Skye struggled to say as she gasped for air

"Skye, come on! You're gonna be fine, just hold on!" Barry pleaded "Please!"

"You-you... you could've saved me." Skye said, weakly as blood dripped from her mouth as she breathed her final breath. "You could've saved us all."

"Us?" Barry said, confused.

Still holding Skye in his arms, Barry looked at the entire park in horror as he noticed all the bodies in the park. He saw Coulson, Tony, Steve, Clint, May, Jemma, Fitz, a blond-haired girl, and two men all lying on ground motionlessly. They were dead, they were all dead. Barry recognized all the dead bodies except for three of them: the blond-haired girl and two of the men on the ground.

Barry stared in horror as everything around him faded into complete blackness.

Barry gasped for air as he sat up from the bed and looked around, he was still in the room. Barry turned to look around the entire room as Skye got up as she noticed Barry's panicked, Skye was a bit drowsy but she was too busy worried for Barry to notice.

"Barry, hey." Skye said as Barry looked at her. "Hey, hey, hey! It's okay I'm here."

Barry stopped panicking as he laid back down on the bed, Skye cuddled next to him as she rested her head against his shoulder.

"What happened?" Skye asked softly

"Just some stupid nightmare." Barry replied

"Well, whatever happened wasn't real." Skye said as she rested her arm on Barry's chest "It was just in your head."

Barry took a moment to let Skye's words sink in, she was right. It was just a dream, none of it was real. It was just a nightmare. Barry thought None of it was real, Skye is safe and Savitar is gone.

On another building, Savitar stood on the rooftop as he watched Skye and Barry sleeping together. For a moment, Savitar had panicked but then came to a good realization.

"So you love Skye now, Flash?" Savitar said "I'll kill her then, and you'll face my wrath. The WRATH OF SAVITAR!"

Savitar then ran down the building tearing through the streets of New York on Earth-196, Savitar continued running as he went in search of who would be his Alchemy on this earth. Savitar was going to go to war with The Flash and he would take Skye, the woman he loved more than anything, from him. Barry didn't have a nightmare that night, Savitar would ensure that it was going to be... the future, a nearby future.

Alright people, that is it for this story.
