Chapter 17

.

Greg never read the many text messages that Mary, Christina, or Kalil. He had been thtough much these last few days. His girlfriend was brutally murdered, his father had been arrested and would likely spend the rest of his life in prison, and people were looking at him suspiciously. Greg had his own way of dealing with his emotions. He and his friend Justin took advantage of this night, known to some as Mischief Night. A night when irresponsible teens like Greg and Justin went out and caused some damage. Among other things they threw eggs at the house of Mrs Landingham. Mrs Landingham was an old woman, a poor widow, and an evangelical christian. She didn't believe in Halloween, just kept her lights off and didn't give out candy. This made some children resentful of her, even though they got more candy then they ever finished. As they egged this old woman's house, she came out, threatened to call the police. Greg and Justin fled, then discussed the situation from a safe distance.

.

Justin: Do you think she'll really call the police?

Greg: Probably. That old bag always was a mean old witch.

Justin: Maybe they'll go easier on you, given what you've been through. Me, I better go tell my parents before they hear it elsewhere.

Greg: I say we go back and shut her up permenantly.

Justin: You can't be serious. We're no murderers.

Greg: First time for everything. And I'd rather not get in any more trouble.

Justin: I don't know what would happen if we get caught for vandelism. But I know then penalty for murder is way higher.

Greg: Yeah, you're right. I was just upset, after everything.

Justin: Good. I'll just walk you home so you can calm down.

.

Mrs Landingham believed she recognized one of the boys who threw eggs at her house. It was Greg, one of the deputies' children. She had heard what had happenned to his girlfriend, to his father. Perhaps the other boy was helping him deal with his anger. Mrs Landingham decided not to call the police. In the morning she would call Greg's mother. If he and the other boy were willing to clean up this mess, she would be willing to forgive. But on this night, she became frightened in her own house. Perhaps she was lonely, and this pagan holiday always seemed to bring about the worst in some people. Mrs Landingham hoped she was just being paranoid, she was not. The lights went out, she prayed it was just bad circuits. Mrs Landingham decided to go to sleep, but before she could make it upstairs, he appeared. It was Ghostface, or at least someone wearing this horrible mask. He walked towards the old woman, who fell on the floor. She prayed to God to save her, but Ghostface kept walking towards her with the knife. And then, as if God were answering her prayer, a second Ghostface appeared, and stabbed the first one. The first Ghostface seemed shocked, and fought back. Mrs Landingham was shocked, two serial killers were fighting each other. Between the darkness and the confusion on the fight, Mrs Landingham lost track of which one was her original attacker. But soon enough one stabbed and killed the other. The victor, simply walked over to Mrs Landingham, and helped her up.

.

Ghostface: Are you okay?

Landingham: I supposse. You saved my life.

Ghostface: You are not my enemy. I ask that you give me five minutes before you call the police.

Landingham: I supposse that's fair.

.

As Ghostface walked away mrs Landingham unmasked the dead Ghostface. It was Greg.
