Final Chapter: End of a Universe, Birth of a New One
The whole gang returned to the Observatory with the Power Stars and instantly met up with Rosalina, Polari and Melissa, who had returned with the Power Star she got at Boo's Boneyard. "So, did we get them all?" Mario asked.
"Yes." Rosalina nodded. "And now… Time to power up the beacon!"
With that, all of the Power Stars flew into the beacon and everyone watched it emit a bright glow. After that, they all looked down at the Star counter, and smiled as it counted down to the anticipated number zero.
[BGM: Flying Mario – Super Mario Galaxy]
"Finally…" Trifle breathed. "We have all of the Power Stars!" he and the entire gang cheered. "And now I can finally see my cousin again… and Mario can see his princess as well."
"At last, the Comet Observatory has full power! Now it can fly through the cosmos again." Rosalina announced. "It's time. Do you all want to go to the location of Mario and Trifle's special ones at the center of the universe?"
Everyone already had a clear answer. "Yes!" Mario responded for them.
"Absolutely!" Trifle nodded.
"Oh yeah!" Sonic grinned.
"Ready to kick some ass!" Ryuji exclaimed.
"Let's do this!" Red fist pumped.
"We're all ready than ever!" Jewel finished.
"All right, then." Rosalina said. "Off we go!"
[BGM End]
With that, everyone watched as Rosalina flew up all the way to the top of the Observatory and stood at the platform leading to the Garden dome. She then raises her wand into the air and shoots a sparkling trail of light that flies up high, before it covered the whole Observatory into a force field.
"Now hold on tight, everyone! We're going to be in for an incredibly fast ride!" Melissa warned the gang right as the Observatory started to transform into a comet.
[BGM: Enter the Galaxy – Super Mario Galaxy]
Eventually, the Comet Observatory takes off in a blasting speed, heading right towards the center of the universe where it encountered a massive dark supernova. Going through it, the Observatory rammed through several airships that tried to shoot it down before stopping right in front of Peach's Castle and Hyrule Castle, with the former castle having a dark void in its open doors.
"There is a warp field inside that castle!" Rosalina pointed. "Go, everyone! They are inside! Hurry!"
After that, she creates a bridge for all of them leading to Peach's Castle. While the gang was crossing the bridge, Jewel and Melissa couldn't help but exchange worried glances with each other. Having played the game that this story is based upon, they knew exactly how it would end once they defeat Bowser, and unfortunately there was no way for them to prevent this. They had no choice but to nod sadly and let the story roll, as everyone soon entered through the dark void.
[BGM: The Galaxy Reactor – Super Mario Galaxy]
Everyone would find themselves standing on a portion of a crumbled castle of sorts given the castle-like walls, as these had special gravity spotlights on them.
"Alright, let's do this." Trifle said, determination in his voice. "It's now or never!"
"Yeah!" the rest exclaimed as they all proceeded to get into the gravity spotlights to traverse the walls while avoiding some Fire Bars, then they got to the top of a fortress at the end and used a tractor beam to get dragged to the Lava planet.
There, they jumped across the various platforms while dodging fireballs, then they got into another tractor beam to reach the Ice planet where ice blocks began to form a path for them and get to another tractor beam at the end, taking them to the Sand planet. That one had tons of Fire Bars among the moving platforms, so they traversed this section carefully until they reached the tractor beam that took them to the Space Junk Area, where as the name suggests, the mechanic of this area works similarly to the Assembly Block planet in Space Junk Galaxy, in which the several blocks constructed a path to them while they also had to deal with more Fire Bars and a gravity zone.
Then, they reached the Lava Tower planet via the last tractor beam, where they basically had to make their way forwards while dealing with many varied obstacles such as Thwomps, Bullet Bills, Banzai Bills, sinking platforms, and moving platforms. Once they finally made it to the end, they surprisingly found a Luma standing there.
"Mama said this fight isn't just for us; it's also about saving Mario and Trifle's special ones." the Luma said. "Please be careful! Whatever you do…DON'T FAIL!" it then transforms into a Launch Star for them as they used it to blast off to the galaxy's final stretch.
[BGM Pause]
Everyone landed at the bottom of a long stairway, where they could clearly see Bowser all the way at the top. Unfortunately, though, before they could even take a step forward, a laugher filled the air as they looked up to see an airship flying over to them, and the one boarding it wasn't just Bowser Jr… standing next to him were the remaining members of the Evil Organization that haven't been fought yet: Kamori, Umimi, and Yuri!
"Hahahaha!" Bowser Jr laughed. "Looking for Princess Peach and Princess Zelda? Too bad! 'Cause they're with us!" he and the evil girls stepped aside, revealing Peach and Zelda being tied up against the airship's mast.
"Mario!" Peach cried.
"Trifle! Help me!" Zelda called out, tears falling from her eyes.
Both Mario and Trifle gasped before clenching their fists in determination. "Don't worry, we'll get you both out of there!" Trifle exclaimed.
[Resume "The Galaxy Reactor" BGM]
"Oh, we'll just see about that!" Bowser Jr smirked. "Girls, attack them!"
"Yes, Junior…" Yuri calmly said and she, Kamori and Umimi leapt out of the airship before Bowser Jr made it depart.
"You all want to get to Lord Bowser? Then you have to get through US first!" Kamori declared, the three taking fighting stances while Umimi conjured up a few water snakes around her.
"Oh, great…" Daisy groaned before the gang also took fighting stances, and then they charged towards the girls as both opposing forces proceeded to wail on each other.
During this, however, an idea came to Mario, and, after dodging a punch from a shadowy hand, he turned to Trifle and called out:
"Trifle! Go up there and defeat Bowser on your own! We'll handle these girls!"
"What?! But…"
"Just go! We'll be fine! They won't notice you sneaking out, so don't worry!"
"O-Okay…" Trifle nodded, albeit a bit uncertain, before proceeding to sneak away from the fray and get to the first step of the stairway. Much to his relief, none of the girls noticed him due to being distracted by the others. Taking a deep breath, the brave prince rushed up the rest of the stairway.
At the top, Bowser Jr noticed Trifle going up the stairs and he exclaimed in disbelief, "Papa! That prince has somehow escaped the fight and is making his way up here!"
"Then fire the cannons, Junior!" Bowser ordered.
"Ah! Yes, Papa!" thrusting a finger forward, Bowser Jr made the airship's cannons activate and fire out meteors, in which Trifle immediately noticed.
"Oh, shit!" his eyes widened and rushed his way up while carefully avoiding the meteors being fired at him.
[BGM: Bowser Appears – Super Mario Galaxy]
At last, Trifle made it to the top, and he found himself glaring up at Bowser in front of him.
"Bowser…" he growled.
"Bwahaha!" Bowser laughed. "Finally! You got here just in time to see the creation of my galaxy in the center of the universe! WATCH AND WEEP!"
[BGM End]
Bowser directed a hand from behind him, and Trifle followed it to see a humongous sun at the distance.
"Okay, first of all, that's a SUN, not a galaxy! And second, how can you possibly know if it's stable or not?!" Trifle questioned. "Creating a galaxy takes TONS of mass, and I highly doubt one Grand Star would be enough to keep it stable to prevent the risk of it collapsing!"
"Bah! That will never happen!" Bowser dismissed. "From this galaxy, I'll rule a great galactic empire with Peach and Zelda by my side. It will last forever! I will rule every pitiful corner of the universe. So, Trifle, as you can see, I got big plans. And stomping you is at the top of my list!"
Bowser roars loudly, and then gravity begins to pull him and Trifle up to the Rock planet above. "I will defeat you, Bowser! That's what Mario wanted me to do!" Trifle declared, taking out his staff and absorbing the Red Star. "But most importantly… I will NOT let you rule the entire universe!"
Bowser only laughed. "Hah! So you think you can stop me on your own, princey? Then let's find out, shall we?"
"Bring it on, turtle face!"
[BGM: King Bowser – Super Mario Galaxy]
Bowser ran towards Trifle and slashed him with his claws, but he jumped back and then charged his staff with the Luma's energy before smacking Bowser, but he blocked the attack with his arms and did an uppercut to knock Trifle up in the air. The prince quickly recovered and came flying back down while kicking Bowser in the head before proceeding to slash him repeatedly, and then Trifle landed on the ground to fire a sword beam at him.
Bowser quickly retreated into his shell to block the sword beam and took this opportunity to ram into Trifle with Whirling Fortress, knocking him back and then the Koopa King would charge up flames from his mouth and breathe a flamethrower at Trifle, but he quickly rolled out of the way and fired another sword beam at Bowser, only for him to block it this time with his arms and then he jumped up in the air to squish Trifle with Bowser Bomb, only that by jumping in the air, this gave the prince time to get back up and run away from the attack.
Glancing at Bowser's tail, a thought came to Trifle. "Hmm… Hopefully Mario won't mind if I borrow that technique of his just for once." he thought with a smirk on his face, and then he grabbed Bowser's tail to spin him around before throwing him in the air, where the prince quickly flew up towards him and kicked him before swinging his staff down to send him straight to the Shell planet. "Gotcha!" Trifle said as he flew after Bowser.
"Urgh…" Bowser groaned. "Oh, you…!" he scowled after he got back up and suddenly grabbed ahold of Trifle and threw him to the ground before jumping back and encasing himself into a boulder and roll towards Trifle.
Trifle quickly rolled out of the way and slashed at Bowser's exposed head to knock him out of his boulder shell and start rolling around the planet, then Trifle switched his sword back to the staff and smacked Bowser away. Bowser got back up and breathed fireballs at Trifle as he dodged them but some of them hit him as he winced in pain, then Bowser encased himself fully into his shell and rolled towards the prince in a speed that would be too fast for him to avoid as his eyes widened… but then a barrier suddenly appeared in front of him as Bowser smacked into it and left dazed, before a Luma charged in and rammed into him to send him away.

"Huh?" Trifle wondered.
"I got your back, Trifle." Rosalina's voice said from above as Trifle looked up to see her floating down gently and landing next to him, while the Luma came back to her. "I figured that you might need some assistance, so let us fight Bowser together. If that's okay with you, leader."
Trifle did not even hesitate. "Of course! You were the one who motivated me since the beginning, after all."
"Grr…" Bowser growled as he got back up. "You dare to interfere, cosmic woman?! Then I'll just stomp you too!"
[BGM: Voyage 1969 – Touhou: Concealed the Conclusion]
Trifle, Rosalina and Luma got ready. "Here we go!" Trifle declared.
Bowser breathed more fireballs at the pair, but Rosalina used Gravitational Pull to pull in the fireballs and send them back to him as Luma would fly over to him and do an uppercut to send him in the air and then kick him to send him crashing to the ground, where Trifle quickly slashed him repeatedly before Rosalina emitted a galaxy-shaped energy blast from her hand that hit him head on.
Bowser got up and attempted to grab Rosalina, but she teleported away as Luma shot Star Bits at his face while Rosalina reappeared behind him and drop kicked him while emitting a galaxy-shaped energy blast, and then Trifle jumped over and swung his staff to hit Bowser upside the head. Bowser responded by grabbing Trifle by the neck and slamming him to the ground before raising his fist to punch him down, but Rosalina quickly used Luma Shot to make Luma slam into Bowser to send him away from Trifle.
"Maybe this will help you." Rosalina said as she conjured up a Life Mushroom for Trifle.
"Oh! Thanks!" Trifle smiled and ate the Life Mushroom to heal his injury and receive a boost of power.
Bowser recovered and did a Bowser Whirl to try and hit them, but they jumped back as Trifle would fly over and slash him in the chest and then Rosalina would grab him telekinetically, pummel him a few times with her wand and flip him with anti-gravity before flinging him away, as he was knocked back by this attack and then more Star Bits were pelted at him by Luma, only that he shielded those with his arms to deflect them before rushing over to Luma to punch it, but Trifle got in the way and swung his staff into Bowser's fist as they collided and knocked each other back by the sheer force as Luma took this opportunity to try and punch Bowser, only for him to block it and pull back his fist, and before Luma could even react, it was punched to the face and was knocked back while letting out a sad cry before exploding in a burst of stars.
"No!" Rosalina yelled in horror, and due to being distracted by Luma's demise, Bowser managed to grab her and slam her to the ground before charging up a fireball from his mouth, but Trifle would jump up and smack Bowser on top of his head to stop the charge before slashing him repeatedly to give time for Rosalina to recover.
Once she did, with intense anger in her eyes, Rosalina thrusted her hand towards Bowser, holding him in place with telekinesis as Trifle stopped slashing him to let Rosalina do the work, and pointing her wand upwards, she made several shooting star showers fall down to Bowser as his eyes widened… before getting struck by those and send him falling down into the Galaxy Reactor itself in the distance.

"…Never destroy one of my children right in front of me." Rosalina growled quietly, while Trifle glanced at her with a playful sweatdrop.
"Sheesh… Rosalina can be quite scary sometimes…" he thought, before changing to the most important subject. "So, did that get him?" he asked her.
"No, I have a feeling he's still kicking." Rosalina replied.
"Not at all." a voice said as the pair turned to see Melissa flying over to them along with Jewel, Mario, Sonic and Kirby, as the latter four also had the Red Star power on. "We were all successful in defeating those three girls just now, and then I asked the gang which ones are willing to take down Bowser. As you can see, these ones with me volunteered, as well as myself."
"Ah, good." Rosalina said. "Bowser is waiting for you over there." she directed to the Galaxy Reactor. "I'll create a Launch Star for you all to get there."
"Wait, you're not coming along?" Trifle asked.
"I've already helped out enough, so I'm leaving you and the rest of your friends here to finish the job." Rosalina then waves her wand to create a Launch Star for them. "Good luck to you all."
"No worries! We'll return safely!" Kirby assured cheerfully as Mario and Sonic nodded in agreement.
"If only everyone knew what would actually happen…" Jewel and Melissa thought saddened, causing Rosalina to notice their melancholic looks.
"Is something the matter, my nieces?" she asked with a little hint of worry.
Jewel and Melissa quickly snapped out of it. "Oh, i-it's nothing…" Jewel lied.
"Y-Yeah…" Melissa threw in. "Let's just end this." she said and then the group went into the Launch Star to blast off to the Galaxy Reactor as Rosalina was left behind and watched them go. However, she couldn't just shake off the feeling that her nieces were clearly hiding something and cupped her chin in thought.
"I wonder what are they hiding from me?" she thought. "Oh well, I'll find out later. For now, I need to go check on the others down below the stairway." she then floats away.
Meanwhile, the group landed on a planet inside the Galaxy Reactor, where they met with Bowser.
"Ugh… If only that cosmic woman hadn't interfered, I would have taken down that prince long ago!" Bowser growled.
Trifle's glare on Bowser hardened. "Why don't you just be quiet and accept defeat already?"
"Accept defeat… ACCEPT DEFEAT!? NEVER!" Bowser roared. "I can still win this! And once I'm done with you here, I'll deal with everyone else out there! I'm still at the top of my game!"
"Stubborn as always, huh?" Sonic rolled his eyes. "Well, if you want your ass kicked so badly, then we'll do it for ya!" he smirked as the group got ready to battle.
[BGM: Final Battle with Bowser – Super Mario Galaxy]
"You all can try…" Bowser snarled. "But in the end… YOU'RE GOING TO FAIL!"
Bowser rushed over and delivered a hard punch at Mario, but he blocked it and kicked his stomach very hard in retaliation as Kirby would jump over and Hammer Flip him in the head. Bowser growled and used Bowser Whirl to send the two away before seeing Sonic running over and delivering a few punches and kicks, only for Bowser to grab him and use Flying Slam on him to slam him to the ground. Sonic got back up and shook it off as he delivered a stretch kick to knock the Koopa King away.
Jewel would use her Speed Jade to rush at him and kick him when she got close, but he just swatted her away as she recovered and quickly pelted him with energy blasts to which he blocked them very easily as Trifle slashed him, only for Bowser to grab his sword with a grin before punching him in the chest to send him sliding. Bowser then breathed fire at the group, forcing them to dodge as Melissa had an idea and disguised herself as Kirby before sneaking up behind Bowser and then jumped up above him and used Stone Smash to crash down onto his head as a rock, quickly transforming back afterwards and deliver a few Vulcan Jabs before Spin Kicking to send him sliding.
"Everyone, don't forget that you have the Red Star power with you!" Melissa reminded after she turned back to her normal self. "Use its power to your advantage!"
Trifle facepalmed dumbly. "Right… I actually forgot about it."
Everyone then took off from the ground as Bowser breathed fire at them, but Kirby inhaled it all and shot it back at him to which he was able to dodge it. Sonic then curled up into a ball in the air and Spin Dashed towards Bowser as he tried to stop him by grabbing him, but Jewel would fly over, and together with Mario, they fired fireballs at Bowser's face to force him to shut his eyes, allowing Sonic to knock him back with his Spin Dash. Melissa then floated over and fired a shooting star at Bowser that sent him flying back, but he recovered and curled up into his shell just like last time to roll straight for the Star Princess, but Jewel used her Ice Aquamarine to create ice cubes that got in Bowser's way, stunning him on the spot.
Trifle then flew over and proceeded to slash Bowser repeatedly before changing the sword to staff form and knocked the Koopa King into the air along with Kirby using Final Cutter, and then Sonic locked on and did a Homing Attack, hitting Bowser in midair as he crashed right onto a glass spot where it made his tail catch on fire and he began running around. During this, Melissa got in position and fired magic at Bowser to send him spinning on his shell, then Jewel blasted him up to Mario… where he did one last spin attack that was just enough to knock Bowser out of the planet's orbit.

Bowser let out a loud defeated roar as he fell down into the lava below, sinking into it.
"Whoa… Is he going to be okay?" Kirby wondered, right after the Red Star finally gave out its power on the users.
"Eh, he's dunked into lava all the time. He'll be fine." Sonic waved it off… and then the planet suddenly begins to rumble. "Gah! Now what?!" he questioned.
"Look!" Jewel pointed to one of the glass spots as it burst open, and the last Grand Star came out!
"The last Grand Star that Bowser stole!" Melissa beamed as the Grand Star flew gently down to them.
"All right!" Trifle exclaimed. "Now let's get out of here. We have two special ones waiting to be saved." he then glanced down at Mario with a smile. "Right, Mario?"
Mario mirrored Trifle's expression. "Right!" and with that, they all took off along with the Grand Star guiding them.
[BGM: Egg Planet (starting at 0:46) – Super Mario Galaxy]
As the group flew out of the Galaxy Reactor, Mario and Trifle looked up and gasped, seeing two familiar screaming figures falling down from the airship piloted by Bowser Jr. They were Peach and Zelda! The group quickly flew over to the princesses, where Mario grabs Peach's hand while Trifle did the same for Zelda.
"We got you!" Mario said.
"Oh, Mario!" Peach exclaimed.
"Trifle! You came back for me!" Zelda beamed.
"Of course I did." Trifle smiled. "I would never leave you, my cousin."
As Mario and Trifle danced with their special ones in the air, all of their remaining friends came over flying right behind them, watching the dancing quartet with bright smiles along with Jewel, Melissa, Kirby and Sonic. Then, everyone looked at the Grand Star as it guided them all the way back to the starting area, where they would land gracefully back on the ground.

The moment she was on the ground, the first thing Peach proceeded to do was embrace Mario. "Thank you so much for saving me, my hero!" she thanked.
Mario kindly returned the hug. "You're welcome as always."
Now it was Zelda's turn to hug Trifle. "Trifle… I was so worried… I thought I would never see you again!"
"Same here… But I worked hard just to see your face again." Trifle replied gently. "Rosalina was right; if I didn't act, I would never see my cousin ever again." he thought.
"You did it, guys!" Eira clasped her hands. "You defeated Bowser and Peach and Zelda are saved!"
"Indeed." Melissa nodded, but then her smile changed into a saddened frown. "But…"
Jewel looked over at her sister's face, and realization instantly hit her as she frowned as well. "Oh yeah… That will happen right now, and I'm not ready for it…" she murmured.
"What wrong?" Kino asked, as everyone else shot looks at the sisters that were a mixture of confusion and worry.
"And what's that that will happen?" Eleven added. "Surely that can't be a very bad thing… can it?" there was a clear hint of nervousness in his voice at the last sentence.
"Please, my nieces… Tell us." Rosalina pleaded.
Jewel and Melissa exchanged nervous glances and sighed, before facing the large group as Melissa began, "Well… You see…"
Meanwhile, one of the stars near the Galaxy Reactor was shown to be erupting and falling apart. Steam was coming out from the lava omissions, and the crumbling rocky terrain were sinking into the lava. It truly was an apprehensive and anxious sight to behold, and a sign that this star could implode at any moment.
[BGM: Catastrophe – Super Mario Galaxy]
At the top, there was a weakened Bowser reeling towards the edge while groaning and grumbling. He then roars, mourning about his newest-created galaxy about to collapse as he then drops to his knees.
"NOOOO! My galaxy! My empire!" he lamented. "This can't be happening…"
[BGM End]
Eventually, the unstable star emitted lights while growing larger just like how a star is nearing the end of its life cycle and thus exploded… but it didn't turn into a supernova. Due to its instability and its massive size, it instead turned…into a supermassive black hole.
As we cut back to the group, they just emerged out of the warp field in Peach's Castle and were about to cross the bridge… until the suction force of the recently-created black hole destroyed it completely as everyone gasped, and then they looked over to their right to see the massive black hole.
"Wh-… What is THAT?!" Inkling Girl yelled.
"No way… It actually happened!" Rosalina thought, shock filling her face.
"That's the thing we were warning you about! A black hole!" Jewel exclaimed. "The star that Bowser created with the Grand Star has collapsed and turned into a black hole due to its instability!"
"A black hole's gravitational field is so dense, that nothing, not even light, can escape from it." Melissa explained. "And I'm afraid that if we reach the Event Horizon, which is the boundary around the black hole… then it'll be the end of our lives." she lamented.
"WHAT?!" some members of group (those being the Mario cast except for Rosalina, Neri, Lacey, Trifle, Zelda, Link, the Inklings, the two Nopons and the Loyal Bodyguards) yelled.
"Y-You mean… We're all going to DIE?!" Neri panicked… aaand then the black hole's suction force finally got to all of them as they were immediately lifted off the ground.
"AAAAAAAH! NO! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" Inkling Boy screamed as Inkling Girl shot right past him, while behind, Mario and Peach as well as Trifle and Zelda were trying to reach for each other desperately, but end up flying apart as they were shouting each other's names emotionally.
"No…" Link breathed. "Our adventure in space… leading to this?!"
"There's nothing we can do…" Cloud whispered hopelessly, and then closed his eyes. "Tifa… Aerith… Barret… Yuffie… It's been an honor…" he thought about some of his traveling companions, nearly tearing up.
The whole scene we're all witnessing in front of our very eyes was a jarring chaos: the entire gang (including the Toad Brigade), Peach's Castle, Hyrule Castle, airships, stars, and even the Observatory were being pulled into the black hole, nearly approaching the Event Horizon. The airships around even showed to be breaking down by the black hole's force; a subtle reminder of just how powerful a black hole really is.
"Is this really… the end of us…?" Solo said quietly.
The rest of the Heroes didn't know what to say in response to that, until Eleven sighed sadly and spoke up, "Guys… It was fun meeting you and working together with you, even if it didn't last for too long…" he shuts his eyes.
"…Eleven…" Eight whimpered, being on the verge of tears.
"I guess this is goodbye…" Eleven whispered, but then opened his eyes in startle when he felt someone's hand grabbing his hand and looked over. "Arusu…?"
"Don't say that, dude!" Arusu tearfully scolded, before sorrowfully addressing, "If we're really going to die here, then we might as well die together…"
With that being said, Solo and Eight exchanged glances while tearfully nodding, and held hands with each other before Solo held Arusu's other hand. The rest of the gang saw what the Heroes are doing and decided to comply as well: with a crying Lacey embracing Kirby as he did the same, the Inklings holding each other's hands before reaching over to Red and Neri and grab their hands as well, Incineroar clutching Pikachu gently in his hands, the sibling groups (Jack and Eira, Kino and Nene, and Jewel and Melissa) hugging each other with their eyes shut, the Phantom Thieves all holding hands while sticking together as closely as possible as the Toad Brigade, Sonic, Link, Shulk, and Cloud were doing the same, Luigi and Daisy sharing what they believe would be their last kiss, Peach and Zelda not finding Mario and Trifle anywhere and so they decided to held each other's hands instead, and finally, Mario and Trifle doing the same as their special ones did while they just stared at the dangerously close black hole's Event Horizon. Rosalina was the only one who wasn't holding hands with anybody as she was instead holding on to the Observatory, as she couldn't help but watch the whole gang below ready to accept their fates.
"I can't believe this is happening… Is this really going to be the end of the universe?" she thought saddened, not knowing what she should do about this… until she blinked as something came into her mind. "Unless…" her eyes perked up… and cue a memory flashblack.

Though I was usually quite cheery as a child, there was one day that I became sad again after thinking about the events from my last memory flashback. At this moment, Luma drew close and tried to comfort me. "Mama, you still have me!" it said. "And don't be sad about your mama, because she's a part of you! That means she's always close by! It's like me. I love Star Bits because they remind me of my mama."
"No…no…" I sobbed, unable to stop the tears flowing down my face.
A lonely look flickered across Luma's face, but it was soon replaced by a wide grin. "I have an idea! I will transform into a comet, a soaring comet that can carry you all on this journey!"
With that, I watched in awe as Luma, trailing bands of white, soared high into the sky and just as quickly started to plummet back down.
*KABOOM!* *KABLAM!*
The ground shook, and a bright light poured out of the crater that Luma had created. The bands of light twisted together to form a comet tail. And then Luma emerged, reborn as a comet. I remember that I could scarcely believe my eyes upon witnessing this the first time.
"But…how?" I kept asking.
"Our destiny as Lumas is to transform into different things," a red Luma who had suddenly appeared said. "Stars, comets, planets… We can become all of these things!"
"When I grow up, I want to become a star that makes someone special smile." a green Luma said.
"That Luma turned into a real cutie of a comet, didn't he!" a blue Luma chimed in.
Then, all of the Lumas together said to me, "No more crying, Mama!"
"Thank you…" I said in a whisper, and I pulled the Lumas close and hugged them.
And from that day on, Star Bits no longer fell from my eyes. The comet set forth for my home planet, its long tail blazing proudly behind it. That comet… marks the official birth of the Comet Observatory, and that's why it has the ability to fly like a starship and travel around the cosmos as of today. It was all thanks to the Luma that kept me company the whole time…

"…That's it!" Rosalina exclaimed once the scene shifts back to reality. As it turns out, Rosalina had a one final resort idea to stop the black hole… and that would be for all of the Lumas to sacrifice themselves to neutralize the black hole and reborn all at once in order to create a new universe where everyone would be alive and saved.
Unfortunately, she knew that doing this would come at a great cost: by creating an entirely different universe, that means this current one would cease to exist entirely, and so it'll be like if this entire journey never even happened in the first place. However, as the goddess of the cosmos herself, she will try to keep the others' memories of this adventure intact during the resetting process, but not for all of them since that would cost a great amount of power. So she closed her eyes and, thinking deeply about the gang that stuck around her Observatory throughout this entire adventure, she called out loud:
"Lumas! Do as I say!"
After telling them what they should do, all the Lumas nodded in understanding. And it was at this exact moment… that the apricot Lumas that merged within Mario and Trifle suddenly popped out, catching them by surprise.

Mario and Trifle stood silent as their companion Lumas waved at them, and just then, an amazing sight happened: the two Lumas and every other Luma, under Rosalina's command, all shot towards the black hole like shooting stars while letting out happy cries. By hearing the Lumas' cries, the rest of the gang opened their eyes and watched in awe as trails of light left by the Lumas zipped past and above them and stopped at the center of the black hole, where they became bright spheres of light. Those spheres were the very last things the whole gang saw before they all along with the castles and the Observatory reached the Event Horizon, or in other words, the point of no return.

Just then, the black hole suddenly shrinks and collapses into a wormhole. It spun and spun around the nothingness that used to be the old universe, before shrinking into a singularity… and…
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
…it exploded into a supernova, replicating the Big Bang itself as everything went white.

Sounds of crying babies soon greeted the gang's ears, making them all start to regain consciousness. When they all fully came to be, they looked around and found themselves floating inside the supernova. They wondered how and why did they end up in here, as they haven't felt anything while the universe was resetting. Their minds were fuzzy; to them, everything just happened so suddenly.
Then, they looked up in awe to see a planet-sized Rosalina appear in front of them. She looked down at them with a smile and spoke softly:
"Do you hear the baby stars? These newborns will grow up to become galaxies someday. When stars die, they turn to stardust and scatter across the cosmos. Eventually, that stardust reforms to create a new star… And so the cycle of life continues." then, she says an interesting and vital piece of information to all of them, including to us, "But the cycle never repeats itself in quite the same way…"
As the gang began to drift away from Rosalina, she spoke her last words to them. "So…you'll see." Everything then went white for them.

Chirping birds. Explosions of fireworks. Cheers of people. Those were the first sounds we hear before revealing to us the peaceful scenery of the Mushroom Kingdom, being back to its former glory in this new reborn universe.
The scene cuts to Trifle, lying unconscious on the grass where a yellow butterfly landed on his head. "Mmm…" he groaned as he slowly opens his eyes while sitting up, and the butterfly flies away. "What… happened…?" he wondered and then looked around. "Huh…? Is this… the Mushroom Kingdom?"
[BGM: Daybreak ~ A New Dawn – Super Mario Galaxy]
Then, one by one, Jewel and her team except for Peach and Zelda, Trifle's team but without Rosalina's presence, Melissa, Neri, Lacey, Jack, Eira, the Nopons, the Allies of Justice, and the Loyal Bodyguards woke up and either pushed or sat up depending on how they were lying on the ground. They all breathed in shock, due to finding themselves suddenly back at the Mushroom Kingdom as their minds were still fuzzy to even comprehend how did this happen.
As the camera pans around to show the restored Mushroom Kingdom, it revealed that all the other characters the gang has met on their journey, which was nothing than a nonexistent thing in this new universe, including the enemies, were all celebrating at the plaza.
It was then that the group looked in front of them, and saw Peach, Zelda, the Toad Brigade and Bowser waking up next. However, they looked rather blank-minded compared to everyone else, as they don't seem to have any recollection of the past events. Turns out that these ones were the only ones who didn't keep their memories of this adventure unlike the gang, meaning that Rosalina did not use her magic of memory keeping on said group.

Eventually, a light shone on everyone's faces as that caught their attention and looked up to its source, in which it came from a sideways turquoise galaxy in the sky. From there, out came Rosalina's voice:
"Yes… All new life… Carries the essence of stars… Even all of you…"
A smile showed up on Mario's face, as he then got up on his feet while still looking up at the sky and exclaims out loud with his arms spread out:

"WELCOME! WELCOME, NEW GALAXY!" as he says that, the camera zooms out in a flyaway shot style, going all the way back up into space where it showed all the restored galaxies from this adventure in the starry skies.

After flying back into space, Melissa landed at the Gateway and spotted her aunt standing at the top of the monument alongside a few Lumas. "Hey, aunt Rosie!" she called out.
"Hmm?" Rosalina looked down to spot her niece. "Ah, hello, Melissa." she said with a smile. "So? How is everyone doing back in the Mushroom Kingdom?"
"They're all doing fine. They're right now celebrating the creation of the new galaxy, even though that was Mario's idea." Melissa playfully rolled her eyes at the last sentence, as Rosalina giggled softly at this.
"I'm glad everyone is back safe and sound… even if it means them all living in this new universe where nothing about that adventure has ever happened." Rosalina frowned saddened.
"Yeah, I know…" Melissa frowned as well. "It's also such a shame that the day of the Star Festival has been pushed far ahead as a result of this, so I'm afraid that you're going to wait once again until that new day comes."
"Indeed…" Rosalina sighed. "On the bright side, this means that my Power Stars will never get stolen… but on the downside, I won't be able to see all those old and new friends I met for a long while. Not to mention that I found that adventure to be… entertaining."
"I am so with you there." Melissa agreed. After a few moments of silence, she smiled up at her aunt again. "Well, what matters now is that we need to move on, looking towards a bright future. Living in the past is not always the best idea, after all."
"True." Rosalina nodded. "Well… I guess I'll see you again at the next Star Festival, then."
"Yes… Until then, aunt Rosie." Melissa waved as Rosalina waved back, and watched her niece fly back to the Mushroom World planet in the distance.
After she made sure that her niece was gone, Rosalina put on a smile, closed her eyes, and then let the final memory flashback play in her head.

With its many Lumas and telescopes, the comet, now finally known as the Comet Observatory, was quite a sight to behold. Because of this, I and the Lumas were proud to call it home. One day, at a welcoming party for a newly born Luma, I gathered everyone in the kitchen and said in a louder voice than usual:
"All right, everyone! Let's make a cake! A cake sprinkled with Star Bits! Then it will be a star cake!" with that, the Lumas excitedly began to gather the ingredients.
As I watched the Lumas scurry about, I smiled and thought to myself, "This is my family now, and I will stay with them until they're ready to leave the nest. And when they do leave, I'll see them off with a smile. Because that's what makes a mother happiest."
Later that night, when I laid down to sleep, a soft light enveloped me and reminded me of the blue planet I once called home; the Mushroom World. And it was at this moment that this tradition of mine as of today came to be as I thought this:
"But it would be nice to return home once every one hundred years to nap in my favorite sleeping nook."
Thus, that was the story of how the Comet Observatory carrying the Lumas and me continues on its journey to this very day. Despite all the sorrow I've been through, I was able to overcome all of this quickly thanks to this new family I have. Of course, I still have my nieces as the last members of my biological family… but I don't think nothing hurts a little more for them for having several adoptive maternal cousins in tow than can be counted, right?
[BGM: Family – Super Mario Galaxy]
Rosalina opened her eyes again, and looked over at her home planet before her.
"Thank you all…" she said. "I will watch over you from beyond the stars."
She turns around and starts to walk away, leaping off from the monument and walking towards the blue-roofed cottage. Emerging from the other side of it, Rosalina flies up towards the Observatory in front of her and casts a sparkling trail of light from her wand. The light enveloped the Observatory into a force field, and departs.
However, somewhere at the Gateway inside of a decayed Starshroom, out of it came two apricot Lumas, which were the same ones that accompanied Mario and Trifle. They then chirped happily and waved to us.
The End
In order to better capture the atmosphere of the situation for the black hole part, I decided to do my best at making this scene as emotional as possible, and what I wrote was my best attempt. Hopefully I did it well enough. Still, that scene always sends a chill down our spine, doesn't it?
Finally, Galaxy is done! Yay! It was such a fun story for me to write, and I hope you had fun reading it too!
Now, there are a few things for you all to consider based on what happened at the end. I feel as if a lot of people tend to ignore that Galaxy's universe has been reset with none of its events happening at all, as Galaxy 2 straight up confirms this due to it being a direct sequel, and that game starts up with the Star Festival when it's supposed to happen every hundred years, and Mario and his friends would be long dead by then. However, despite that, I still wanted the gang to remember everything from the adventure, but at the same time, I didn't want everyone to remember it so I made a few characters forget about all these past events, in which I did it with Peach, Bowser, Zelda, and the Toad Brigade, the former two specifically as a reference to how Galaxy's ending showed them looking very stoic and not reacting in the slightest.
Another thing you must consider is this: remember how Rosalina mentions that the cycle of life never repeats itself in quite the same way? This statement of hers will be VERY important for the future stories of both Sagas, especially for the next story following this one.
Speaking of the next following story, this and the next one after it will be the ones I'll be calling them "Vital Stories", since both of them will contain several important things that will apply to almost all future stories in Jewel and Trifle's Sagas. I'm saying this because both of these stories that I'm teasing will not be from the Mario universe, and my friends in this site are mostly into the Mario franchise, so you'll all be in for quite a lot of new and unfamiliar stuff ahead as a fair warning. But if those Vital Stories are not read, then you'll be left with a plot-hole impression, and no one wants that, right?
Since I didn't show any hints of what the next story is going to be through an epilogue of sorts, I'll be instead posting a one-shot story at the beginning of January. That story will give you a hint of which franchise it will take place on and who'll be the main characters, but that story will not be canon to the main story itself.
