Awhile Later
The Davis Home
"You chow mein is getting cold. Rosey dinner is ready!" Brooke called out from the bottom of the staircase.
"I'll be right there momma!" Rosemary yelled from the hallway as she quickly entered the bedroom of her brothers.
"Tell me everything that happens. This is so exciting. Leave out nothing." Rosemary said. With a large smile.
"It's just dinner. You're making this into a much bigger deal then it is." Ryan replied.
"You can't fool me Ry. You've been looking forward to this for days. This isn't just dinner. It's the first time you're spending quality time with the dad you didn't know existed. This is a night you'll always remember. Good luck. And don't talk too much. You do that when you're nervous." Rosemary said.
"Thanks for the advice little sister. I can handle this." Ryan replied.
"There is still time to come with me tonight to meet Lucas. If you're interested. Mom said he extended the invite to you." Ryan said.
"No need. You enjoy yourself. I'm just going to hang out." Kennedy replied.
"You have the resturant name of where we're going to be so if you change you're mind come by." Ryan said. As he made his way out of the bedroom.
Feeling eyes on him. He turned his back and gaze towards the wall.
"What are you still doing here.?" Kennedy asked.
"Why are you so stubborn.? Or are you just afraid. Unwilling to admit it.?" Rosemary asked.
"What would i have to be afraid of.?" Kennedy asked. Not meeting her gaze.
"That momma was right and that you believed a stranger. Allowing her personal feelings to get in the way of what you could have. You want to punish him for not being around. Even though it wasn't his fault. In the end that only hurts you." Rosemary said.
Kennedy stared back at her.
"You are way too wise and smart to only be 10 years old."
"Thanks. There is a big difference between staying away on purpose and never being wanted to begin with. Don't make this into a regret when it doesn't need to be." Rosemary said. Turning from him as she left the bedroom.
By the time Rosemary was seated at the dining room table. Brooke had returned from dropping off Ryan.
At the sight of Rosemary she smiled.
"My Rosey girl. Just the face i need to see." Brooke said. Closing the kitchen back door behind herself.
"I'm going to go for a walk. To clear my head." Kennedy announced entering the kitchen.
