Just another bright, sunny day in Beijing. However, in the Carmen house, there is some dark times. Jennifer was rolling out of bed, rubbings her eyes as she walked into the bathroom to take a shower. Her mom was in the kitchen, going through her email. When she heard Jennifer open the bathroom door, she quickly smiled at her and continued to make some breakfast for her.

''Good morning sleepy head, sleep ok?'', she asked her as she put her cereal on the table. Jennifer moaned a bit as she sat down at the table, opening her eyes and sighing heavily ''I'm fine mom," she said as she took a bite of her cereal. "I don't know baby, you don't sound so convincing.'', she commented as she took a drink of her coffee. That's when Jennifer noticed her face, she seemed bothered by something. "Everything ok mom?'', she asked. That's when she knew she couldn't lie to her daughter. Mari sighed heavily and put down her coffee. "Jennifer, I already told you I dont like you keeping stuff from me, you can tell me anything.'', Jennifer paused. ''No mama I told you everythings fine.'', she said trying to hide her nervousness. She then received a glare from her mom. Jennifer sighed and looked down ''Okay... remember how I was dating Cheng? Well he told me he didn't want to be with me anymore because I was distracting him from his Kungfu and important stuff, now we're not together anymore. "

"What?" Mari said shocked. "When did this happen?" "A few days ago. And then he tried coming up to me and my friend Harry yesterday and wanted to talk. I didn't want to so I just ignored him and walked away. "

"That's my girl. You don't need guys like that. He should be grateful to you. You deserve better mija."

"Gracias mami." Jennifer replied. "I think I know that by now."

Jennifer finished the last of her cereal and stood up. "Well I'm going to meet with Meiying at the park here. See you later mama. "

"Okay mija be careful."

Later on at the park, Jennifer was sitting on a park bench waiting for Mei Ying like always. Her expression showed she was stressed about something. Even though she was trying her best not to think about Cheng, he kept crossing her mind. She had to forget about him. Her thoughts were interrupted when Mei Ying came up to her, ''Hi! You seemed deep in thought'', she said to her as she sat down next to her.

"Oh you know same as always. Cheng. I cannot believe he tried talking to me yesterday."

"Oh yeah... like I said he doesn't deserve you. Forget him."

"My mom already told me the same thing."

"Well is true." Meiying said and hugged her friend. "Everything will be okay."

Jennifer smiled hugging her friend back. "You're a great best friend Mei."

Before Meiying could say something, they were interrupted by Cheng and his gang. "Hello Jen, Mei Ying. Shouldn't you two be all soft somewhere else?" Jennifer stood up and eyed Cheng a bit before smirking ''My bad Cheng, I didn't know I needed idiot's permission to be at this park for anyone. Your young mind will mature eventually '', earning a glare from Cheng. "Look Jennifer, if you just let me explain, I won't make the same mistake twice. I need you to hear me out'', Cheng warned. Mei Ying then stood up and got between the two ''Come on Jennifer, lets go walking or something'', she said as she pushed her away from Cheng before the two started fighting again. ''Yeah, lets go walking. I don't like the scenery here anymore '', Jennifer commented before turning around and putting her back towards Cheng; who was glaring even harder.

As she walked home, Jennifer was beginning to feel intimidated by Cheng's actions. He seemed to be obsessed with her. "I've got to avoid him and get him out of my head." She said rubbing her eye.

Once inside her apartment, Jennifer threw her bag against the wall and laid down on the couch. Mari had been home for sometime, walking into the living room and seeing Jennifer on the couch."How'd it go honey?"

"Good mom. Meiying and I had a fun time. We went to get ice cream."

"That's good mija." Mari leaned down to kiss her daughter's head. "Can you help me clean the kitchen?"

"si mama" Jennifer stood up and helped her mom get the kitchen cleaned so it would help distract her thoughts from Cheng
