Fairy Tail might be a great band, but even they want to have some fun. They heard of a country fair going on and they wanted to check it out. They were also scheduled to throw a concert. Before that, they were hoping to have some fun. There's just one problem with that.

"Run!" Natsu shouted as the five of them were running from their fans. They can't enjoy their time at the fair because they have some fans that are chasing them around.

"Whose bright idea was it to step into the fair before we have to put on a show?" Lucy said.

"Quit your complaining and just find some place to hide!" Gray said.

"Hide where?!" Gajeel said.

"This way!" Natsu said as they rounded through some booths and ditched their crazy fans.

"This isn't going to lose them for long." Erza said.

"This is just great. We arrive at a fun place to put on a show, but we can't enjoy it." Natsu said.

"Yes we can. We just need something like a disguise so that we can enjoy it without people knowing it's us." Lucy said.

"That's a good idea, but where are we going to get any?" Gajeel asked.

"Guys! Over here!" They all looked and spotted Levy by a tent that has a bunch of clothes. "I found this and thought it could help."

"Levy, you're a miracle worker!" Natsu said as the five of them ran inside and tried to find some disguises for them. It seemed great until they each found a disguise that they didn't agree with.

"You have got to be kidding me! I'm not wearing this in public!" Gray said.

"No one is going to know it's you. Man up." Erza said.

"Man up? Man up?! Are you kidding me?! Look at me!" Gray said. The five of them stepped out and were wearing disguises of the opposite gender. Gajeel, Gray, and Natsu were dressed like southern belles. Natsu was in orange with curly red hair, Gray was in sky blue with a bonnet and blonde hair with curls, and Gajeel was in pink with his hair tucked inside and wore a floppy hat. Erza and Lucy were dressed like male farmers and looked like guys. Lucy even had a fake white beard to go with it.

"I can't believe we have to dress like this!" Gajeel said.

"Seriously! We're men! We look like manly men!" Natsu said.

"Sorry guys, but these were the only costumes they had left." Lucy said. "Only Erza and I could fit into the guy costumes."

"I'm sorry, but it looks like you guys got stuck with the sizes that no one usually gets." Levy said. "Just make the most of it until you guys actually need to perform." None of them liked this, but if they want to enjoy the fair, they have to put up with it until they're performance.

...

Gray and Gajeel

"This is so stupid. I rather be harassed by our fans than go through this." Gray said.

"You said it. I say we just ditch the clothes and get our usual workout in." Gajeel said. They looked ahead and saw a crowd ahead gathered around something. They went to check it out and saw a couple guys slipping and sliding in the mud as they were trying to catch a pig.

"What's going on?" Gray asked.

"Look here." Gajeel said as they spotted a sign. "Catch the pig and win a prize."

"Hello, ladies." Gajeel and Gray turned around and met with a punk guy and an entourage. "Came here to watch a real man catch that pig."

"Uh...yeah." Gray said in a girly voice.

"No worries, pretty ladies. I'll catch that pig and win a prize. You both just stand there and look pretty like you usually do." That sent shivers down Gajeel's and Gray's spines. This guy thinks they're pretty?

...

Natsu and the Girls

While those two were at the pig chasing game, Natsu, Erza, and Lucy were checking out the rest of the fair. They tried to keep a low profile, but that didn't last as Natsu found that bull ride that tries to shake you off. He was doing a good job at holding on. He lasted for about a full minute before he was tossed off. People cheered for him.

"That's one tough girl."

"You never would have known by looking at her." Lucy overheard comments like that it seemed to have bothered her.

"Oh man." Natsu said as he walked over to the two of them. "I would have held on a lot longer if it weren't for this dress."

"Really? You're saying that because you look like a girl, you fell off sooner?" Lucy said.

"Is something wrong?" Erza asked.

"Didn't you hear what some of those guys said? They said something like how Natsu lasted so long when they think he's a girl." Lucy said.

"So?" Natsu said.

"That's like saying that girls aren't as tough as boys." Lucy said. "I'll show them." Lucy went for the bull, but the others didn't think this was a good idea. Lucy went on the bull and tried holding on. However, it only took a few seconds for her to get thrown off. That did not look good for her. Especially since she's dressed as a boy and ended up getting mocked. Lucy just got out of there and rejoined the others.

"You okay?" Natsu asked.

"I'm fine." Lucy said, but she didn't sound fine. As the two of them talked, Erza went on ahead.

"Lucy, it's no big deal." Natsu said.

"No big deal?! It is a big deal because there are some jerks out there that still think boys are so much better than girls." Lucy said. "No matter how much girls accomplish, some idiots think guys are still tougher and it ticks me off."

"Well, this might make you feel better." Natsu said as he spotted something. He pointed to the bull ride and they saw Erza on it and she was doing well. "Feel better? Erza is doing well."

"Maybe, but now I just feel bad about myself since Erza's doing better than me." Lucy said.

"Well, Erza's not like most girls. She's just naturally tough and is tougher than you." Natsu said.

"What?!" Lucy said as she sounded more upset and Natsu felt like an idiot now. "Natsu, do you know how sexist that sounds?! How insulting that sounds?!"

"No! I didn't mean it like that!" Natsu said, but Lucy just stormed off. Natsu tried to go after her, but he ended up tripping on the dress. "Stupid dress." He spotted someone holding out their hand towards them and saw it was a girl dressed as a cowgirl.

"You okay?"

"Yeah." Natsu said as he tried to sound like a girl. He took her hand and she pulled her up. "Thank you."

"Of course." The girl said. "I saw you chase after that boy. Having troubles?"

"Something like that?" Natsu said.

"I don't think I've seen you before. I'm Fern."

"I'm...Summer." Natsu said as he went with the first name he thought.

"Nice to meet you. You want to get something to eat? I find sharing a meal with someone and talking about their problems is a great way to help feel better." Fern offered. Natsu went along with it since it meant he could eat.

...

Gray and Gajeel

Gray and Gajeel stuck around the pig game. They watch the guy, that was actually trying to flirt with them, and his friends try to catch the pig, but he kept slipping and sliding in mud.

"Time's up!" The guy failed to get the pig and those two were far from impressed.

"Sorry, ladies."

"Uh... Don't worry about." Gajeel said.

"Yeah. We'll just get the pig ourselves." Gray said.

"No. You shouldn't have to get dirty." The guy said. "You'll ruin those pretty faces of yours. I'll just win you some other prize." He and his friends walked away, but Gray and Gajeel felt bothered by that.

"Did he just imply that we can't do this because we're girls?" Gray asked.

"Sure sounds like it." Gajeel said.

"Hey "girls". What's up?" Both of them turned around and spot Levy coming over. "You enjoying the fair?"

"We were until this one guy actually tried to flirt with us." Gray said. "He also said something a little unsettling. He told us that we shouldn't play this pig game and that we should just avoid the mud."

"Yeah. He claims he just wants us to stay here and look pretty." Gajeel said.

"I see. Well, welcome to the life of being a girl." Levy said, but both of them didn't get it. "There are some jerks out there that think girls are just something pretty for them to look at and that's it. It can be pretty sexist sometimes. It's almost like society has it set up for girls to be insulting, girls not being treated as equally as guys. It's pretty disrespectful."

"I had no idea." Gray said. "I thought that sort of thing stops after you stop being a child. You know how some kids are with the opposite gender."

"Same here." Gajeel said.

"Well, maybe I am being a little harsh. All I'm saying is that there are some jerks out there that are just plain disrespectful because you're a girl." Levy said. That didn't really sit right with Gajeel and Gray and they might have an idea as to how to help out with the girls.

...

Lucy

Lucy just stood by. She was still upset about what happened at the bull machine. Erza was able to find her and saw she was still upset.

"You know, a lot of people get thrown off the bull." Erza said. "The point is to hold on for as long as you can. It's no big deal."

"I know." Lucy said. "I just wish I could stick it to those jerks. Then, you get on and Natsu said something completely stupid that it was insulting."

"Lucy, if I could do it, you can do it too." Erza said. "I only got on because I felt the same way as you and I wanted to help out."

"I get that, but Natsu was right. You're much stronger and tougher than I am." Lucy said. "How could I ever compete with someone like you?"

"Simple, you don't." Erza said. "It's stupid for us to compete against each other, especially since neither of us really get anything. All we can really do is try to make ourselves better, improve in where we are weak. Lucy, you can be a tough girl yourself. A better question is who do you want to prove that too? Is it to yourself or others?" Lucy hadn't thought about that and when she did, she had her answer.

"Myself." Lucy said.

"So let's get you back up there and show you that you can be a tough girl, even if others won't know you're a girl." Erza said as she grabbed her arm and headed back for the bull.

...

Natsu

Natsu grabbed some lunch with Fern. Going by the alias named Summer, the two of them talked and he was able to tell her most of what happened.

"I see. So your friend got embarrassed because of some guys mocking him." Fern said. "He felt like less of a man, did he?"

"Yeah... Something like that." Natsu said.

"Figures. Boys can be such macho idiots sometimes." Fern said. "Why is it that people let something like gender defy who we are and where we should stand among others? Why does society set these expectations for us based only on our gender?"

"I don't know. I never really thought about it like that." Natsu claimed. He really didn't, but now he's starting to. "Maybe it's based on how some act because some girls don't like getting dirty and some boys like to look tough."

"I guess so. Well, some people out there are just like that." Fern said. "Some guys act all macho and have their male pride that they got so hung up on. Boys can be real idiots sometimes." Being an actual boy, Natsu didn't like this. However, he was sensing something.

"Did something happen between you and a boy?" Natsu asked.

"You could say that." Fern said. "I recently broke up with my boyfriend. He was a real idiot and jerk. Do you know the band named Fairy Tale?"

"Know them? I love them. I listen to all of their songs." Natsu said.

"Me too!" Fern said. "My favorite song is Who's That Girl, but my lousy boyfriend totally stole the lyrics to that song and tried to pass it off as a poem he made for me."

"No way!" Natsu said.

"Yeah." Fern said. "I'm starting to wonder what I saw in that jerk. He seemed nice at first, but he started acting all macho. I bet he only did that because he thought writing his own poem would be unmanly." Natsu was starting to see things a little differently and it's thanks to this girl. "He even made fun of my wish to one day sing with them."

"You want to sing with Fairy Tale?" Natsu questioned.

"I know it sounds silly, but it would be great." Fern said. "However, he claims that even if I do get on stage with them, I just be stuck as a background singer and would just look pretty."

"This guy really does sound like a jerk." Natsu said. It was then he thought back to what he said to Lucy. "Actually, I should thank you. I said some things to my friend that I shouldn't have. I need to go and make things right."

"Sure. Later." Fern said as Natsu ran off. He acted like a macho idiot to Lucy and he knows he needs to apologize. The band got a little new perspective today and it's helped them out. Gajeel and Gray played the pig game and were able to catch the pig despite getting all dirty with people think they were girls. Lucy rode the bull and held on much longer than she did before. They might have dressed oddly, but the band had learned a thing or two being here.

...

The Stage

It soon came time for their concert to be held. So they ditched the costumes and got themselves more presentable. Once Natsu spotted Lucy, he went right over to her.

"Hey, Lucy." Natsu said. "I want to apologize for what I said before. I didn't mean to offend you. It was just plain stupid of me."

"You're right, but it's fine. I think I was really trying to prove something to myself more than the others and I feel a lot better." Lucy said. "So are we going to rock this fair?"

"You know it." Natsu said as they went on stage.

"Check out Erza and Lucy."

"Yeah. They're hottie-hotties." Those were the same guys from the pig game. Gray and Gajeel heard them and Gajeel grabbed him by the shirt to get in his face.

"Hey, show a little respect." Gajeel said.

"Yeah. They're more than just pretty faces." Gray said. Gajeel shoved him back and they went on stage with those guys confused. The band made it on the stage and everyone was excited.

"How you doing?!" Natsu called with the crowd cheering. "Before we begin, I actually like to invite someone to come and join us." Even the band didn't know what he was talking about, but everyone was curious. "I would like a nice young lady named Fern to come up here." Fern was excited as she made her way to the stage and Natsu helped her up. "A friend of mine named Summer told me how you would like to sing with us. Would you like to?"

"Really?!" Fern said.

"You can even take the lead." Natsu said as he handed her the microphone. Fern couldn't believe her wish is really coming true. She took the microphone and she took the lead. It ended up being a pretty good day at the fair.
