CHAPTER 13
Author note: Well, I want to explain that Helen doesn't have in her possession anyone's DNA (except Jacob's blood drop, that would be a person with a non-active shapeshifter gene), the chip used waves to recognize the hard skin of vampires, also shapeshifter's characteristics, their tissues, their temperature, etc.
As I said in the first chapters, Helen was not a scientist, she was a university student with good knowledge of her career, so do not expect her to make a technological empire overnight. When I set up the chip in the story I thought of it as a futuristic computer with infinite battery, with A.I., all in her head, that is:
The information that Helen had in the chip stayed with her, no more no less, of course I will not leave it with only knowledge of runes and informatics, for example in my computer I have books on mechanics, geology, calculus, chemistry, crafts, novels and if I were sent to the past I would have to manage with that I guess.
The laboratory is the only thing I consider OP, because it creates arrays that could explode in her face and nothing happens, it is infallible. In the future she will use it for chemical experiments and how they would turn out without wasting materials or taking risks.
The sun was overhead when we got out of the plane, it was very hot.
"It's beautiful, I don't understand why Bella didn't want to come..."
"She wanted to spend more time with her boyfriend, dad. Plus we have Leah to come with us."
Look at Leah who came with us, in fact, I won three vacation spots in a radio contest, but my sister refused, claiming that the Cullens invited her to spend the summer with them, the next one I invited was Billy Black, but neither he nor Jacob could travel, so I went to the Clearwater's house where there was a tremendously depressing aura coming from Leah, Harry's daughter, apparently her ex-boyfriend, Sam Uley, left her for her cousin Emily with no rhyme or reason, what a bastard. I offered them the space, which was no bother and on the day of the trip Sue was waiting for me at the gate with an empty Leah shell and a suitcase.
When we arrived at Tambo International Airport, we were picked up by a local, he would take us to Sun City, to get to our hotel, Palace of the lost city. By the time we arrived I could finally stretch my legs, it was worth every second, everything was so beautiful, Leah must have agreed with me too if you see the sparkle in her eyes.
We checked in and went to our rooms to rest, in the afternoon we would start our week of mystical vacations following our itinerary.
The day of the safari started very early, the three of us got in the car along with other people, we were very excited, in the last few days that I lived with Leah I could understand her better and we became very close, dad was happy that I had expanded my social circle, I was happy to have someone so sarcastic in my life, it was a breath of fresh air, it would be better if every two hours she didn't lament about her failed relationship and the subsequent (according to her) betrayal of her cousin.
"It's weird not being the one with the rifle, you know?" Dad suddenly commented, Leah and I laughed.
"On your left a herd of zebras - the guide turned to the cliff - oh! lucky you, on your right we'll find a peregrine falcon. We'll stop for a short break, don't go too far."
We got out of the vehicle along with the others, I took out of my backpack the snacks we had bought.
"I miss your food Helen, you turned me into a very picky person" I laughed at her comment.
"We're all resting - I turned to look at Leah - is there anything you miss?" I asked looking at the quileute girl
"My family" she sighed and looked down into the ravine "but the best thing was coming, thank you for inviting me"
"Don't mind me, it was my pleasure."
"Did you see that?" she stood up and looked towards the cliff. She was getting too close for my liking but dad was far away talking to the guide, so I walked over with her.
"What?"
"Someone, I saw him and he looked back at me, I swear" she looked me in the eyes when she said it but I didn't really see anything and she's not the kind of person who would make that kind of joke 'Is anyone around?'
[A person is detected 500 meters away from this position].
I was very surprised, who would it be, was it looking for Leah specifically?
I was going to ask the guide if there was a tribe nearby when I saw a lioness approaching the group.
"Lion!" there was shouting over shouting, dad saw us away from the group.
"EVERYONE GET IN THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY!" after the guide's shout everyone came to their senses and started to head quickly to the vehicle, but the lioness was walking towards us, on the other side another lioness came out, this was not normal at all, they surrounded us, I could see my father pale next to the guide.
I fixed my attention on the predators that were holding us against a ravine and noticed that they were larger than normal and that they ignored me, their attention was completely on Leah, an idea flashed in my mind, if I was positive we had less chance of dying.
'Make a comparison between data obtained from the Quileute wolves and the lionesses.'
[Similarity is found between the two species. Samples are requested to improve the data].
'Are they shapeshifters?'
I didn't have time to even try to engage in conversation when suddenly one of the lionesses lunged at Leah and without thinking I pushed her out of the way, I tried, the other lioness seeing my trajectory lunged at me as well. I could see Leah's eyes full of surprise and in the distance I could see my father running towards us, but he would not reach us because we were falling down the ravine.
