Mommy! Oh my god, my mommy is awake!' Noah shouted, getting off Ed's lap and running over to his mums bedside.

'Noah, it's brilliant but you need to keep your voice down. Your mum needs quiet and there are other patients on the ward'

'Sorry Ed'

'Don't apologise you funny boy I know how worried you've been about your mum… we all have.'

Ed sat down gingerly on the edge of the bed. Olivia was waking up slowly; the anaesthetic was still in her system but was working its way out. He took Olivia's hands in his own and squeezed them gently, letting Olivia know he was here.

'E…Ed?' Olivia's eyes opened and she blinked blearily in the sudden bright lights of the room she was in.

'It's okay… I'm here'

'The boys?'

'Mommy! I'm here, so is Aaron.'

'Noah… oh my god Noah. You're okay!'

' yes I am okay'

Olivia burst into tears and Ed dropped Olivia's hands for a minute so she could hug her son hard. Turning around, he held out a hand for Aaron who came running over and wrapped his arms around his waist. For a minute, the two embraced their sons, but then Olivia held out her hand for Ed, who took it automatically- both of them keeping their other hand around their sons shoulders.

'What happened? I don't remember much. Where's Brian? And John? God, were you shot Ed? You better not have walked out of treatment for me…'

'Olivia, calm down, you are going to panic yourself unnecessarily. You remember John refusing to shoot me?'

'I… I… Yes! Brian told him to shoot you and he said no'

'Yes, well Brian and John had a fight… and then the gun went off'

'Oh god, is John dead?'

'No! John shot Brian, he's dead'

'Brian is dead?'

'Yes. He was rushed into theatre but he didn't make it'

Ed let Olivia and Noah be alone for a few minutes so he and Aaron went to get some fresh air. So we are going to live with Ed and Aaron forever mommy?'

'Is that what you want?'

'Yes, but you have to want it to'

'I do want that, but you will always be the most important person in my life Noah. Whether I'm with anyone or on my own, you are my little boy, and you always will be- even when I'm 80 and you are a daddy yourself, you'll always be my baby'

"My darling boy, I love you so much

'I love you too. And I love Ed, and Aaron'

'Me too'

Ed opened the door gently and Olivia smiled nodding for him to come in. Aaron came running in behind Ed, carrying two iced buns in his hand.

'Noah, I bought you a bun. I let you have the last blue, its your favourite isn't it'

'Thanks Aaron, we should eat these outside. "Me too. dad, let me know when your finished, so we can come in and be a family again.

The boys went outside and Olivia stared at Ed for a second, before patting the bed next to her. Ed hovered for a second before sititng carefully on the bed, taking Olivia's hand in his.

Olivia pushed herself up off her pillows and kissed Ed, no one knowing what they were doing, completely immersed in their own bubble- well apart from the two pairs of eyes, peering inanely through the door- finally happy that their parents had found happiness.
