Chapter 15: Ghostly Friends
"Why does she have no thread?" Clockwork asked, still looking at Dani's intangible thread.
"She does... in a way." Death said looking at the intangible thread. "This thread was going to change when Dani absorbed Desiree, but when you changed that it made it so that never happened. And so since Dark Danielle now exists outside of time, her thread of fate never formed, and Dani's thread changed the moment you changed her future."
Clockwork looked down changing into his elderly form. "Will it change again?"
"I have no idea." She said as the threads receded back into the orb. Death reached into her cloak returning the orb to its place. "And that is what troubles me. While I don't know how, I can normally tell when a thread will change forms."
Clockwork let out a sigh. "Dani's future just became a whole lot more interesting for us... didn't it?"
"That it did my love." Death said with a warm smile on her face to the time master.
From behind the two masters a large clank was heard. Both Death and Clockworks eyes widened as an explosion rippled through the tower.
A small hole opened up as time seemed to slow down for a moment as a red and black masked head popped out. "You are SOOOO Boned!" The head yelled out before disappearing back into the hole.
"Deadpool." Clockwork and Death can both be heard saying as time returns to normal.
Dani laid in her bed thinking, remembering her last conversation with Kitty. She had been trying to talk the halfa into telling her parents and Jazz about them, but the sixteen year old was scared.
'Mom and dad hate anything to do with same sex relationships, but then again they did hate ghosts for the longest time and when they found out about me they fully accepted me.' Dani thought to herself. She let out a sigh before turning over in her bed to lay on her side. 'But this is so much different than just finding out your daughter is half ghost. I mean even Jazz was disgusted when me and her saw that lesbian couple at school last year.'
She turned over in her bed again to look back at the ceiling. 'Atleast Paulina is accepting of me. I know she never dated another girl but it's good to know I won't lose her because of this.' She continued to think to herself. She groaned, raising her hands to her head and scratching her head violently. 'Damn it... why does this have to be so hard? I care about Kitty... so much so I don't really want to hide it, but I'm also so scared of how my parents and sister will react.'
Dani let out a sigh as she twisted around and stood up from her bed. She walked over to the window and let out a soft sigh as she looked outside. She smiled seeing several ghosts walking down the street peacefully.
"The biggest thing I feared was the truth about my powers coming out, and it ended up being the best thing for the entire world." Dani said softly, smiling to herself.
The halfa opened her window up and jumped out, turning into her ghost form as she did and flew into the sky.
"Hey Dani!" A gruff voice called out causing the halfa to stop in midair.
Dani turned and smiled. "Hey Skulker. Good hunting lately?"
"Good yes, fun no." Skulker said stopping in front of the white haired girl. "How's that injury? It looked pretty bad when your sister took you."
"It was bad. Still is really but it doesn't hurt all the time now. Only if I exert myself or try to use anything more than the most basic of my powers." Dani said with a smile. "To be honest I'm not surprised you didn't come visit me."
Skulker laughed lightly while scratching the back of his neck. "Actually... I did try to, but your sister wouldn't let me near you. Said I might aggravate your injury. So I figured I would just see you when you were better."
Dani giggled at the idea of Skulker coming to visit. "Well thank you for the thought Skulker. I appreciate it, also I wanted to personally thank you for helping my dad fight Fright Knight after his attack."
"No problem. It was actually quite fun teaming up with someone who used a power suit like me. Though I must say, I might have to talk to him about upgrading my suit, his outclasses mine." The ghost hunter said chuckling before stopping seeing the teen grinning.
"Remember how I told you I would have an upgrade of my own during our last 'fight'?" Dani asked with a smile. Seeing Skulker nod his head, she reached behind her and pulled out the Phantom Phaser that she had started to carry around. "Allow me to introduce the Phantom Phaser." She says showing the 'gun' like object to the hunter.
"What does it do?" Skulker asked intrigued that the halfa would have a weapon.
Dani smirked and flipped the switch on it. The phaser extended out covering her entire body in a thick suit of armor and helmet.
"Like it?"
"Like it? I love it." Skulker said, floating around Dani to examine the suit. "Did your dad make this?"
"My dad and mom actually, but dad downgraded it recently. It was known as the Fenton Peeler, but for me since I don't really want to hurt ghosts, dad changed it to the Phantom Phaser and changed what it does." She said with a smile.
"Interesting. This is quite an impressive suit. Will you use it next time between us?"
"If you want I will sure." Dani said flipping the switch to retract the suit.
"Oh yeah. I wanna see what the suit can do combined with your powers. I wonder if it will be like when you fought Pariah Dark." Skulker said with a grin.
"Nah it's not that powerful. The suit my dad had was that one just upgraded." Dani said before leaning back as the Ectopus rushed past her.
"Oh... Sorry to cut this short, but that thing is my target today. Actually been giving him a chance to try and have fun." Skulker said with a laugh. "See ya Dani. Till next time." He called out flying after the Ectopus.
Dani just giggled watching Skulker go after the green flying octopus. They didn't talk a lot but she knew Skulker had come to like her.
As she was about to fly off again she heard her name called out again. She blinked looking around before seeing Ember flying towards her.
"Hey babypop." Ember said with a smile stopping in front of the halfa. "Last time I was in town you were laid up in bed. How are you doing?"
The halfa giggled and smiled at the rocker. "Doing okay. At least I'm up and flying around again."
Ember smiled brightly at the halfa. "That's good to hear. Listen I wanted to give you a get well gift but your sister wouldn't let me see you." She said rolling her eyes. "So instead how about just a normal gift." She said handing Dani a pair of golden tickets. "These are backstage tickets to my Disasteroid Anniversary Concert here in Amity Park. Figured you and your 'girlfriend'." She said using air quotes and a wink. "Could come see me together."
Dani stiffened at Embers words and stopped cold.
"No need to worry Dani. I won't say a word. Only reason I know is because Kitty is my best friend and the only other time she was this happy was when she dated you before. When I took a guess she stiffened up just like you." The rocker explained. "So don't be mad at Kitty, I swore I wouldn't tell anyone except you."
Dani blushed brightly taking the two tickets. "Thank you Ember... And you're okay with me and Kitty... dating?"
Ember smirked and nodded. "Sure am babypop. Normally I'm not one who likes girl on girl but I saw how happy you made Kitty before. If you can make her happy, if not happier this time around I'll give you both my full support."
Dani smiled warmly before floating forward and wrapping her arms around the rocker in a hug. "Thanks Ember. That means a lot since I know your Kitty's best friend."
Ember wrapped her arms around Dani, returning the girl's hug. "Your welcome." She said happily, before softly whispering into her ear. "But I promise you. If you hurt her I will hunt you down. You will think Pariah Dark was the Box Ghost if that happens."
Dani giggled as she pulled away from Ember. "I won't hurt her... I care for her too much." She said lightly blushing.
Ember smiled and nodded her head. "That's what I wanted to hear Dani. Anyway, gotta jet. My promotor wanted to talk to me, but I saw you flying around, I had to stop and talk to you." She said disappearing in a swirling blue flame.
Dani smiled as she took off into the sky to relax.
Lady Fortuna frowned as she looked at a crystal ball in her hand. "I wonder if Clockworks plan will work." She asked out loud watching the halfa interact with former foes. She turned her head to where the image of the ghost queen and dark queen stood.
"At least one path is paving itself out." She said noticing that the shifting image of the woman beside the ghost queen had stopped shifting. Now the woman beside her was clear as day.
Long green hair rolled down the woman's back and her red eyes shone clearly within the image. The only thing that had changed was around her neck was a necklace made out of the purest ice.
Fortuna smiled at the image beside the ghost queen before blinking as she turned to the dark queen. Beside the dark queen a new image began to take shape causing the ghost of fate's eyes to widen. A woman now stood at the dark queen's side, her arm hooked around the queen's arm. The woman wore a long black gown with jewelry of ice all around it. Rolling down the woman's back was long fiery red hair and glowing pink eyes.
"Oh dear. So Clockworks' plan didn't work as he had planned. Instead he ensured if the dark queen rises, she will have someone forever loyal to her at her side, one whom she will share her unlimited power with." Fortuna said, letting out a sigh. "Together they would destroy everything. If the dark queen comes to be I must be ready. My power may be the only thing that stops her... and even then it might not be enough."
Fortuna turns to look out of her massive tower only to see smoke rising in the distance where Clockwork's tower would be. "This will be the final moment of truth. Be prepared Dani Phantom, for your Ultimate Enemy... Returns..." She said ominously.
