Shinichi is reading his book in the library, it's been month since he was discharge from the hospital. The doctor said to take it easy so that his wound will not open so he can't play soccer for his school team for a while so he have more free time. He was looking at the clock and notice that his little brother seems quite late but as on cue the door opens
"I'm home!" shout Conan from the library door
"Ah Conan, welcome back…" said Shinichi while closing his book
When he see the door, much to his surprised to see Ran is with him
"Ran? What are you doing here?" asked Shinichi surprised
"I accidentally meet Conan-kun at the grocery store. What are you thinking making a seven years old to do groceries all by himself?" asked Ran in unhappy voice
"Oi oi I don't even know that he will go there!"
"Don't be mad Ran-neechan, I already plan to go there since this morning and Shinichi-niichan is still healing so I can't make him help me" said Conan defending Shinichi
"That explains why you bought your skateboard this morning" said Shinichi to his little brother
Three of them goes to the kitchen, Conan said that he was thinking of making hotpot for dinner which surprised the high schooler
"Hotpot? why suddenly?" asked Shinichi surprised while taking out some grocery bags
"I have been wanting to eat it for a while, I just bought some vegetables and got nice half price beef here" said Conan showing a fine beef
"I'm also surprised when Conan-kun said he wants to make hotpot today and my father happen to hang out with his friends tonight so might as well join and help right" said Ran smiling
"Hahaha okay then… you also bought some other things huh"
"Yeah! I notice this morning some of our things almost run out so I bought in advance, can you take it out for me? I want to prepare for the hotpot first" said Conan while opening the fridge
"Okay okay"
Shinichi look at the groceries and put the things on the floor one by one, from shampoo, soap, toothpaste, detergent and some other things that are bought. He just notice that the groceries were on the blue wagon that he never see before
"Oi Conan! Did you just bought this today?" asked Shinichi holding the blue wagon
"Yeah since the red wagon that I always used is broken so I thought I should buy new one today since dad send my monthly allowance yesterday" said Conan while putting some vegetables in the fridge and taking out a food box
"Eh really!? Wait a minute, he didn't send me yet!" shout Shinichi while looking his phone
"Ahh dad said that your allowance already used for hospital bills so you didn't get this month allowance. That's why my allowance this month will be used for paying electricity bill, water bill and grocery"
"You got to be kidding me!"
Ran look amused by the brothers. By the looks of it, Conan is more mature than Shinichi is which can't help her to laugh but she also glad that both brothers relationship is very well
Time Skip~
Three of them are eating together, good thing Ran was there to helping in preparing the vegetables and beef with Conan while Shinichi make the soup, prepare the mini stove and putting some utensils
"You already know how to make a stock Conan-kun?" asked Ran
"No, the stock that was used for the soup is from Haibara. She said that she made a lot yesterday so she give some to us this morning" said Conan while drinking the broth
"Oh yeah Ai-chan is really good at cooking"
"Yeah, I think both you and Haibara-san cooking skills are the same. Every time Professor Agasa give us some leftover is almost the same taste as yours Ran" said Shinichi
"Really? Hmmm I want try her cooking..."
"Hahahaha" laugh Conan
Three of them continue to eat and talking about the cases that Shinichi have been solving for past few days with or without Conan. While talking, Conan also make some porridge from the leftover soup
"Conan-kun's cooking skills is getting better" said Ran praising Conan
"Hehehe thank you Ran-neechan"
"He is my little brother after all!" said Shinichi proudly
"Rather than proudly announce that, you should learn thing or two from him" said Ran mocking to Shinichi
"Hey, I still can cook okay. Right Conan?!"
"Yes yes, you can cook high school detective… but your head is still full of cases" said Conan smirking
Ran and Conan just giggle while Shinichi give an annoyed look. They continue eating the porridge and talk more. After eating and all other things, Ran went home and Conan is reading at the library. Shinichi who already in pajamas is now at the door
"Oi Conan, it's almost midnight" said Shinichi
"Ahh but I want to finish some books first. Not to mention, tomorrow is Saturday" said Conan who's still reading
"Okay then, how about tomorrow we eat breakfast at Poirot?"
"Sure, wake me up okay"
The next day
The brothers just arrived to Poirot and were surprised to see Ran and Kogoro are in there as well
"Shinichi?! Conan-kun!? It's rare for you to eat here?" asked Ran surprised
"Well once in a while don't hurt right? Azusa-san, two morning special and two hot coffee please" said Shinichi while sitting down on the chair beside Kogoro who's reading newspaper
"Alright!" said Azusa from the counter
Conan sit on the chair sofa right next to Ran and let out a big yawn
"Still sleepy Conan-kun?" asked Ran
"Um… I read some books until late" said Conan rubbing his eyes
"Then this will wake you up" said Kogoro giving the newspaper to Conan
"Hm?"
Conan try to focus on reading much to his surprised to see the white phantom thief on the front page
"K-KAITO KID?!" said Conan surprised looking at the newspaper
"Another advance notice huh… wait a minute, that's odd, usually Jirokichi-san would call at the night he receive it" said Shinichi surprised
"Maybe he forgot and too focus on making plan right? That old man usually did that" said Kogoro while drinking his coffee
Shinichi look at his little brother who's now wide awake seeing the picture of his rival and smirking. He can't help to laugh seeing his little brother who always happy fighting the thief and live up the name Kid Killer
"Thank you for waiting, two morning special and two hot coffee" said Azusa
"Thank you" said both Shinichi and Conan
Conan give back the newspaper to Kogoro and they eat breakfast. Ran then talk about the hotpot that they eat yesterday which make Kogoro unhappy since he didn't get to eat it
"It's your fault to go all night drinking Mouri-tantei" said Shinichi smirking
"Shut up detective brat, when you're older you will know how great drinking with friends are" said Kogoro proudly
"Dad.." said Ran glaring
"Eh ah hehe, besides that, why the brat in glasses drinking hot coffee?"
"We already have a deal, every morning if one of us is having all night reading. The other have to make hot coffee" said Shinichi while eating
"Don't worry, I put creamer so it's not dark coffee" said Conan while drinking his coffee
"Still it's bad for you to drink coffee Conan-kun" said Ran
"Hehehe don't worry Ran-neechan"
"Such optimism…" said someone beside them which grab their attention
Four of them look at the source of the voice which to see Inspector Nakamori with a cup of coffee on his hand
"That guy just keep on winning…" said Inspector Nakamori while closing his eyes
"Nakamori-keibu!" said Ran surprised
"Time after time, that arrogant thief has evaded capture… He keeps defeating me every single time"
Conan and Shinichi look at each other in confused but they let him be and continue to drink their coffee since they already finish their breakfast. Kogoro then eat his breakfast sandwich while Ran still looking at the inspector
"What's wrong Nakamori-keibu?" asked Ran
"Ah no… because there hasn't been any news from Kid lately… I haven't had any chance to compete with him"
Conan, Shinichi and Kogoro was surprised by the inspector remark. Inspector Nakamori still confused by their surprise faces so Ran tell her that Kaito Kid send an advance notice to Jirokichi-san by the newspaper. Inspector Nakamori shout in surprised seeing the newspaper
"Wait a minute! Conan-kun, did that old man contact you?!" asked Inspector Nakamori while holding the newspaper
"No, not at all" said Conan shake his head
Inspector Nakamori quickly drink his hot coffee in advance and straight paid at the cashier and get out from Poirot. Four of them who sees it just surprised and let him be
"Well Sonoko-neechan will invite us sooner or later" said Conan while drinking his coffee
"Yeah you're right" said Ran
Time Skip~
Few days later
Sonoko really did invite Ran, Kogoro, Conan and Shinichi to Jirokichi's house after school. When they arrive, they see that Inspector Nakamori and the other officers are guarding the room. Jirokichi arrives and tell him about the strongest safe that Kaito Kid want to open. After the demonstration, when Kogoro, Ran and Sonoko busy chatting with Jirokichi, the brothers goes to Inspector Nakamori
"Nee keibu-san, do you by chance have a copy of the last Kid notice?" asked Shinichi
"Ah I have it, here"
Shinichi look at the notice seriously. From what he knows from Conan that this notice seems to be fake since the drawing is not his usual. Shinichi then notice some points and silently smirking but one person notice it which to be his little brother
"Oi oi do you really have to figured it out now?" thought Conan to his big brother
"Nah I just notice some tiny points here" thought Shinichi back to Conan
"What did you notice?"
"Well.."
Shinichi bend down and give look of the notice to Conan. As he look closely to the notice, he look carefully to the words and that he smirk as he notice it too. Both brothers smile to each other as if achieve what they need to know
"I see what you meant… but then the one who send this notice is not Kid then" thought Conan to Shinichi
"Yes… then what should we do? Help or pretend don't know?" asked Shinichi in his thought
"How about this…."
Inspector Nakamori confused by the brothers since they didn't talk at all. Shinichi smirk and then give the notice back to the inspector. Suddenly when they look at the room again, they find Kaito Kid notice which this time have his real signature drawing which means it's the real one. Inspector Nakamori start to bark at the officers to tighten the security. The brothers look at each other in agreement, Conan goes near Ran and Sonoko while Shinichi goes closer to Jirokichi and tap him
"Jirokichi-san, I want to ask you something… come here"
Shinichi whisper to Jirokichi and he was surprised by him. Jirokichi then nod as his answer and Shinichi smile to him
"Then, I will lend you a hand after he arrives so please let me cooperate" said Shinichi smirking
"Thank you… but it is okay I mean your relative is-"
"When you combine high school detective and Kid Killer, it's the best combination in the house Jirokichi-san. He also figure out the notice"
Jirokichi was surprised but then suddenly he ask if Shinichi is Kaito Kid and Shinichi just laugh
"Jirokichi-san, you maybe don't know but Kaito Kid can't disguise as me in front of Conan, right Kid Killer-san?"
"Hah?" asked Conan surprised
"Kaito Kid will not disguise as me after that heist right?" said Shinichi
"Oh that heist, of course he can't since that's just a ticket to get him behind bars"
"Oh you mean that Jewel of Destiny heist?" asked Inspector Nakamori who's also hearing Conan's remark
"I remember! the brat and his friends manage to find out his disguise" said Sonoko
"Why?" asked Jirokichi surprised
"That's because…"
Flashback
They are at the dressing room with the other musical actors until suddenly Inspector Nakamori call someone that he got recommend by Inspector Megure which to be Kudou Shinichi comes in the dressing room. The others were surprised especially Conan, Ran and Sonoko since from what they know, Shinichi is staying home due to cold after discharge from the hospital and there's no way he come here to help Kaito Kid heist since it's Conan's jurisdiction. Knowing that fact make Conan look at the high schooler very seriously and suspicious
"Oi Kudou-kun, I think you should test him first" asked Haibara to Conan
"Ahh… oi guys, tell me one word each from all three of you"
"Eel" "Princess" "Book" said Genta, Ayumi and Mitsuhiko together
"Thanks, now then we have to confirm it…"
"What do you mean Conan-kun?" asked Mitsuhiko
"Confirm that he really is Kudou Shinichi or not" said Conan smirking
"Wait what do you mean? how?" asked Genta confused
"Do you forgot Genta-kun, what Conan-kun and Shinichi-oniisan have in common!" said Ayumi
"Ahh!"
Conan smirk and then walk closer to the front and stop right beside Kogoro. Everyone except Detective boys are curious by his sudden act and he just stare at that Shinichi for a few moments
"What's wrong Conan-kun?" asked Shinichi bend down
"Bingo" thought Conan smirk
"Eh?!" said the kids and Ran who notice it
The other was surprised by the kids and Ran expression. That Shinichi was confused but Conan just smirk and by his reaction and behavior confirm his suspicious
"Question to the high school detective" said Conan closing his eyes
"Eh? why suddenly?" asked Inspector Nakamori surprised by the Kid Killer
"What are the three words that Genta, Ayumi and Mitsuhiko said to me just now" said Conan serious while glaring at him
"Eh? Um… I don't know of course, they only told you"
The kids start to surprised by it and then point at him with full of confidence
"That's Kaito Kid!" shout three of them
"Eh?!" shout everyone in the room
Inspector Nakamori start to get angry when the kids says it and hold the high schooler
"Wait wait! I'm Kudou Shinichi! Why you accuse me as Kaito Kid?!" asked Shinichi panic and remove the inspector hands
"That's because you are not him!" shout Ayumi
"If you really Tantei-niichan then you should know the answer!" said Genta
"Why's that?" asked Kogoro confused
"Edogawa-kun and Shinichi-san have something in common and if that Shinichi-san can't do it then it's not him… " said Haibara looking at the high schooler
"AH I see! Conan-kun and Shinichi can read each other minds! They always talking through their minds instead with their mouth" said Ran remembered
"Now that you mention it... They always do that" said Sonoko who also remembered
"What?!" said Shinichi in low voice panicky
"Not to mention, Shinichi-oniisan didn't call Conan-kun using -kun!" said Mitsuhiko
"Then another question, here's the easiest and I'm sure Kogoro-ojiisan and Ran-neechan can be more convinced… When we go to Osaka to watch Koshien game, did you also help with the bombing case?" shout Conan
"Of course!"
With that answer, both Ran and Kogoro glare at him by his answer
"Keibu, this is Kaito Kid!" said Kogoro serious
"Shinichi didn't help with the bombing case that time" said Ran glaring
"Get him!" shout Inspector Nakamori while holding the disguised high schooler
Suddenly he smirk and let out smoke bomb and as of that he disappear from the room. The officers and Inspector Nakamori run out to find the phantom thief while Conan and his friends smiling at their winning on deduction together
Back to present
"I see… then I will take the offer" said Jirokichi smiling
None of them notice that someone happen to hear what are they talking about and smirk hearing Jirokichi
Time Skip~
Jirokichi start his plan to lure out the officers while Shinichi and Conan do their part of making the others believe at his plan. As the officers believe it and start chasing Jirokichi, both brothers disappear from Ran, Sonoko and Kogoro. Three of them are now looking for the brothers which make the safe room is clear from anyone which give one person to quickly goes to the safe
"You really love it huh? Disguising as a woman" said Conan smirking as he open the door which shows the maid which to be Kaito Kid in disguise
"Yeah, it's just more cute this way" said Kid smirking
"Pervert" said Shinichi unhappy right behind Conan
"Oi oi Meitantei"
Both of them goes in and look at Kaito Kid who's trying to open the safe, suddenly a dart come toward Conan and Shinichi quickly protect him.
"Oi oi! Just what in the world?!" shout Shinichi
"What do you expect? This is not ordinary safe remember!" said Kid
"You know, I'm starting to think this battle between you two are very dangerous"
"Please don't be an overprotective brother" said Conan to his big brother
Kaito Kid continue do his work at the safe suddenly Shinichi notice that one of the floor tile color is different than the others, as Kid want to see suddenly he heard a click and an axe comes out from the safe. Shinichi quickly jump and Conan quickly held his head in surprised
"As expected from truly great safe made by master of traps, Samizu Kichiemon…" said Kid shock seeing the axe
Suddenly something open up and a doll comes out showing a fan with words 'you lose'. Three of them can only sour laugh seeing the doll so Kid goes back trying to open it again. Shinichi again talk with Conan about fighting with this phantom thief like a overprotective brother
"By the way Meitantei-san, why do you come here anyway? you rarely go to my heist?" asked Kaito Kid
"Aahh... Sonoko force me to come as well, I also got curious about the notice since Conan said that it's different style than usually do" said Shinichi
"To think it was really not from you" said Conan while folding his hands
"Then you guys already figured it out right, what lies behind this safe" said Kaito Kid smirking to the brothers
"Of course" said both of them smiling
Moments later, the safe opens which show the very reason why Jirokichi ask for Kaito Kid to open the safe. Which to be his dog, Lupin is stuck inside the safe. Lupin bark and jump to Conan and start to licking him happily. Kid then take his bandana and show Shinichi and Conan that the guide to open the safe is behind it and what he always uses.
"Hahaha that explains why he ask for your help" said Shinichi looking at the guide
"Yeah, he only realize when he shut the safe door that his dog, Lupin was not beside him. That's why he begged for my help since the only person who can open this over complicated safe.."
Kid then take off his disguise and change back to his usual phantom thief form
"Is the one and only Kaito Kid" said Kid proudly
After that Kid open the door and jump to the roof. Conan let go of Lupin and goes to balcony while Shinichi stay at the balcony door. Moments later, they heard police sirens
"They must have found out that the old man is the real deal" said Kid smirking
"But this is a real risk you know, it could be a trap after all" said Conan with bored look
"Aahh, at first I thought of that too but after secretly looking at the situation and much, I decided to help"
"Still you really do risk yourself to get caught. What will happen if that old man Suzuki Jirokichi lied after you take out the dog from the safe" said Shinichi still at the balcony door
"Well I am a big fan of the real gentlemen thief oh Meitantei-san" said Kid smirking
Kid then smirk while looking at the night view and to his grade schooler rival
"To see Lupin got stuck inside the safe, I can't just stand by you know" said Kid after that he jump from the roof and fly with his hang glider away from the house
"Oi oi don't get too friendly" said Conan looking at the phantom thief
Suddenly Lupin jump to Conan and start licking him again. Conan tried to stop him but the dog seems can't stop, Shinichi just see Conan with the dog can't help to giggle and he goes closer to Lupin
"You have to thank Jirokichi-san, he even ask Kaito Kid for help" said Shinichi while rubbing Lupin's head
"Woof!"
Suddenly the door opens shows Ran, Sonoko and Kogoro who surprised by the scene. They quickly ask for explanation but Shinichi can't told them the truth so he wait for Jirokichi himself to told Sonoko about it. Suddenly Conan's phone rings
"Hello?" asked Conan through the phone
"Conan-kun! Where are you?" asked Mitsuhiko
"We're about to go to your house but it's too dark" said Ayumi
"I'm not at home... Oi oi are you guys at Professor Agasa's house?" asked Conan
"Yes! Conan-kun are you free tomorrow?" asked Mitsuhiko
"Wait…"
Conan look at his brother and Shinichi just shake his head which means they're free. Since today is Friday after all so which means tomorrow is Saturday and there's no school
"Yeah I'm free, why?"
"Let's go camping! Professor Agasa and Haibara agree too!" said Genta loudly
"Camping huh… now that you mention it, last time we go camping is two months ago"
"Let's go then!" shout three kids together loudly
"Ahahahaha okay okay, are you guys staying at Professor now?"
"Yes!"
Conan just laugh on the phone and Shinichi look at him smiling since he seems quite happy.
Time Skip~
At Kudou's house
"Oh tomorrow you want to go camping?" asked Shinichi while taking off his jacket
"Ahh they're now at Professor Agasa's house, I also want to drop by to give this back to Haibara" said Conan while letting out some food boxes
"Then let me join you, I want to get something from Professor Agasa"
Both brothers then goes to Professor Agasa house and not surprised that the one who opens it are Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi. Both of them comes in and Shinichi goes to Professor Agasa who's drinking his coffee on the table
"Ah Shinichi! Conan-kun! What's wrong?" asked Professor Agasa
"Conan said he want to talk about tomorrow's trip, I want to get that belt" said Shinichi
"Oh that soccer belt that you requested, wait a moment okay. You can have some coffee if you want"
"Thank you professor"
Professor Agasa went down to his lab and Shinichi sit on the chair looking at the TV showing news about Kaito Kid and some other cases. The five kids are now at the sofa together and Conan just folded his hands hearing them talking
"Oh! How about we invite Shinichi-san to join?" asked Mitsuhiko
"Ah that's a great idea! Shinichi-oniisan never join us right" said Ayumi happily
"Well you're right but you sure he wants to?" asked Haibara to the family member
"Why look at me? I don't mind so try invite him if you can" said Conan
Without seconds spare, the three kids goes to Shinichi who's drinking the coffee and invite him to join
"Eh? I don't know…" said Shinichi surprised by the invitation
"Come on Shinichi-oniisan! It will be fun!" said Ayumi
"Yeah, since Professor always look after us. He can use some help" said Genta
"Well Conan and Haibara-san already enough to look after you three" thought Shinichi laughing
Professor Agasa comes out from the lab and give Shinichi the soccer belt that he request. Conan was surprised and goes to him, Haibara also follow him from behind
"Oi oi you really need to have that?" said Conan slight laugh
"It's quite handy when I see you uses it so I don't mind to have one for some cases when the culprit run away" said Shinichi smirking
"That's why you should have just do Karate like Ran-neechan or Judo like Kogoro-ojiisan, why you have to do soccer?"
"Shut up… everyone have their own hobby"
"Haha…"
The three kids look at each other confuse but then back asking him about joining their camping trip
"That's a great idea! You should try coming Shinichi… change of environment is good once in a while right?" asked Professor Agasa
"Hmm… you're right, not to mention Inspector Megure haven't contact me for cases" said Shinichi thinking
"Then?!" said Ayumi smiling
"Fine fine… I don't know why you want me to come but I will go"
"Yatta!" shout three of them
Conan and Shinichi look at each other and just laugh at them. Well they never did go camping together before and Shinichi only take him to out of town for cases only when they have long weekend which is very rare occasion.
"It's going to be a packed weekend" said Shinichi while drinking his coffee
"Once in a while is fine right" said Conan smirk
"Then should we try to do that?"
"With pleasure"
Time Skip~
All of them are now at camping side. Ayumi, Genta and Mitsuhiko are getting some firewood for the campfire while Haibara and Professor Agasa are inside the tent getting ready to cook dinner and get some stuffs out
"Oh yeah, where are Edogawa-kun and Shinichi-san?" asked Haibara as she close her bag
"Ah those two are…"
At Shinichi and Conan side
Both of them are in the lake and smirking to each other near the pier with boats. Suddenly one man shows up with two keys on his hands
"So two speedboats for one hour right?" asked the man which to be the one of the guard of the lake
"Yes, this lake is safe right?" asked Shinichi
"Of course, most campers don't rent a speedboat and just fishing on the lake so it should be safe"
"Thank you"
Shinichi get the two keys and give one to Conan. Both of them smirk and then goes to their rented speedboats. After that both of them drive their each boat to the center of the lake, Shinichi then take out a detective badge from his pocket
"Okay Conan… here's the track, we will only use half of the lake so we go around it for two rounds. The one who finish it first wins. Got it?"
"Got it, what's in for the loser?" asked Conan smirking
"How about taking care the dishes after dinner today?"
"Deal!"
Suddenly someone contact both of their badges and they quickly take it
"Conan! Where are you? You should help with getting firewood!" said Genta from the detective badge
"Already got a lot moments ago and give it back to the tent" said Conan
"Where are you now?" asked Mitsuhiko
"I'm at the lake now, you should see me since I'm in the middle of the lake"
"Middle?!"
"Anyway, I will meet you guys at the tent later. I have some unfinished business with this mystery geek"
Conan shut his communication with the three kids and contact his brother's badge again. Little that they know that the three kids are hearing their conversation and looking toward the lake
"We should have ask that guard just now to count for us" said Shinichi unhappy
"Hahahaha… just count to three together" said Conan holding the wheel
"Fine fine… let's start… One"
"Two…"
Both of them look at each other and smirk as they hold the speedboat
"Three!"
The brothers are now racing with their speedboat around the lake
