Oh god, I can't lose her; this world is worth nothing to me if Bella isn't in it with me. Peter and Char are standing next to me, both equally afraid of losing their new sister. I almost fall to my knees as I feel the enormous amount of love and resignation that Bella's sending my way. I look into her beautiful eyes as I send her all my undying love in return.

I feel the anger building inside me as I feel Alice's smugness. This is not how this is supposed to end. Peter said that we would make it through this. We will have our eternity together. Alice is not going to take my happiness away from me. Who does that bitch think she is?

Jasper - JPOV

The realization that Alice would take away my eternal happiness without a sliver of remorse and with a smile on her face is the final drop. She will die for this. No one tries to hurt my mate and lives to tell the tale. I tap into the feelings of the vampires around me and let their anger and rage course through me as I embrace the darker part of my soul. It's time for Alice to meet the real Major Jasper Whitlock, the vampire she tried so hard to suppress. I will show her what real power looks like.

Bella - BPOV

I keep my eyes focused on Jasper as I send him all the love I feel for him. The worry in his eyes makes me want to claw Alice's eyes out. It really pisses me off that Alice keeps claiming that she's Jasper's mate while she keeps on hurting him with everything she does. That's not how mates treat each other. I would rather die than hurt my Jasper and I know that he feels the same way. We belong together and if Alice truly believes that I'm going down without a fight, she's even crazier than I thought. No wonder her parents put her in an asylum.

I focus on the anger inside me as I take a quick look at the faces of the vampires around us. Even the Volturi look angry as they look at the scene before them. Gone are the blank faces from before. The male guards are ready to pounce the second Alice gives them the opportunity. They look fearless and dangerous, like real vampires.

The most impressive however is my Jasper. I notice the change in his stance as he gives in to his darker side. He stands taller than the rest and looks positively ruthless and lethal. He sends me a burst of confidence and trust, and I realize that he has a plan to get me away from Alice. I can't wait for him to show her his true self, the one that she suppressed all those years, the person he can be with me because I love every part of him. He survived hell to get to me and I will always be grateful for that. I shiver in anticipation of his actions. Alice increases the pressure on my throat and hisses into my ear as she falsely identifies my shiver as fear.

"Is the gravity of the situation sinking in, you little slut? Did you realize that you might lose your head? That your eternal life might end before it truly began? Well, you should have thought about that before you stole another woman's mate! You, filthy whore!"

By the end of Alice's little rant, Jasper's eyes have turned pitch-black and his anger and rage are clearly visible on his face. I purr softly as Jasper lets out a thunderous roar that shakes the walls of the house. God, my mate is magnificent. I gasp for unneeded air as I register the shit load of emotions that Jasper is sending our way and pull my shield up around me in the hope to block them. The feelings of fear and panic that tried to grab hold of me vanish immediately. The bitch behind me however has no way of evading Jasper's power. Alice's hold on me lessens as she succumbs to the emotions that Jasper is sending her way. I smirk as she screams in agony, and throw out my shield the moment her hand leaves my neck to push her away from me. I rush to Jasper's side and purr softly as he wraps his arm around me to pull me into his side.

Jasper - JPOV

The only thing I can think of to get Bella away from that crazy bitch is to flood them both with an insane amount of fear and panic. I just need Alice to loosen her hold on Bella's neck so that we can pull her free and back into safety. I send Bella a burst of confidence and trust to let her know that I've got a plan and watch as Bella shivers in anticipation. Alice reacts to Bella's shiver by pulling her closer and hissing in her ear. Her words fuel my anger even more.

I let out a thunderous roar and send the most intense feelings of fear and panic her way. I signal Char to retrieve Bella the moment Alice lets go and Peter to restrain the crazy bitch before she angers me again. That would result in me taking her head off before Aro can have his fun. He wouldn't appreciate that; Caius however would be thrilled by my course of action. He always was a man that loved the more direct and gruesome approach.

I smirk as Alice screams in agony. I keep pushing emotions her way as I register that my Bella is looking straight at me, completely untouched by the emotions that I'm sending her way. Her shield must be able to block my gift too. My God, my Bella is simply incredible. There has never been a woman on this planet like my Bella. She is sheer perfection. I purr as Bella throws out her shield to get Alice away from her. She rushes to my side immediately and I instantly pull her close against me. I stop projecting emotions toward Alice and Peter moves over to Alice to restrain her. Aro gives Alec the order to put Alice under the influence of his gift and I smirk as his mist engulfs her. I turn to the Kings and bow my head slightly before saying:

"Masters, Alice Cullen is delusional. She is incapable of seeing the truth that is right in front of her and has become a liability. I want my Bella to be safe and that can't be so while Alice lives. I ask for your just and righteous verdict in this matter."

I straighten my pose and look at the three vampires in front of me. I can't ignore the fact that they are here. I have no problem at all with separating Alice's head from her body but they are the rulers of the vampire world. Aro nods his head in my direction and takes a deep unneeded breath and taps his finger to his chin as if he's collecting his thoughts. I suppress the smile that threatens to burst through my blank façade as Caius growls at Aro's behavior. "Get on with it, Aro."

"You're quite right, Caius. Let's settle this rather quickly, shall we." He takes a look around and his gaze falls upon Edward, who cringes as he reads Aro's thoughts. Aro returns his attention to us and says: "Before we were so unrespectfully interrupted, Marcus looked at the bonds that you share with the people around you, Major. Bella is indeed your true mate and your bond is quite exceptional. It is one of the strongest and purest that Marcus has seen in quite some time. The bonds with your captain and lieutenant are as strong as ever. They are your brother and sister in every way but blood. You are a very lucky man, Major."

I bow my head slightly as I say: "I never thought I could be worthy of such love, Master. My Bella is a gift from the gods and I will treasure her for eternity." Aro smiles at my words and turns to Bella.

Bella - BPOV

I purr softly at Jasper's words and send him my love as I see that Aro turns to me. Jasper gently squeezes my hand as he feels my emotions shift and sends me a wave of calmness. I give him a soft smile as Aro starts to say: "Bella, my dear, you are the most intriguing vampire I've ever come across and that is saying something when you're as old as I am. Your gift is formidable and you compliment the Major in every way as a true mate should. He can finally be his true self. The bonds that you share with the people around you are very strong and pure. When you love, you love with all your heart and it shows in your bonds, not only in your bond with Jasper but also in the ones with your new brother and sister. They love you equally as much in return. How I would love to read your thoughts, my dear."

I smile softly as I curtsy. "Maybe one day, Master Aro, when I fully understand the mechanics of my gift."

Aro breaks out a smile and says: "Oh, the prospect of that alone will keep me going for the next few decades. Thank you so much, dear Bella. Now, to the order of the day! The Major has asked for our help in the trialing of Alice Cullen. She falsely claimed the Major as her mate. She lied to us and tried to kill the Major's true mate. She will be punished accordingly."

Edward has a horrified look on his face because he saw her punishment in Aro's mind. I couldn't care less what they do to her as long as she gets the hell out of our lives. Carlisle takes a step forward as Esme drops on her knees, and says: "Please, Aro, my friend, Alice is my daughter. She is sick with grieve and doesn't know what she does at this moment in time. She just lost her husband to her best friend. Give her time to come to terms with this new development. We will help her through this. I promise you that. Jasper has no right to ask for a true punishment."

I hiss at Carlisle's words. What the fuck did he just say? That psychotic bitch wanted to tear my head off. Jasper pulls me closer against him and kisses my mark to calm me down. Caius scoffs at Carlisle and says: "He has every right! Alice threatened his mate. If someone threatened Athenadora like that, I would tear them into tiny pieces and torture them for all eternity. Be glad that I'm not the one judging her." I give Caius a loving smile and he gives me a quick nod. I guess Caius doesn't do feelings that well, but I like the blond king very much.

Aro puts his hand on Caius's shoulder and says: "Alice had every intention of separating the Major from his true mate. How would you react if she threatened Esme like that, Carlisle? Would you speak the same words of forgiveness and compassion if Alice tried to kill her?" He puts out his hand to stop Carlisle from answering. "I'm not done, Carlisle. I read Alice's mind when we arrived in Seattle. I now know every thought that has ever crossed her mind and I know that Alice lost her true mate more than sixty years ago. The vampire that saved her from a tracker named James was her true mate. She went mad and blocked all those memories from her mind, but they still linger deep beneath the surface.

She went on without him because her life still had a purpose. Her visions gave her that purpose. She was to bring Major Whitlock out of his depression and escort him to you. She was needed to set him on the right path so that he could meet his one true love, his mate, Bella. She completely misinterpreted the reason behind her own visions and built her own reality based upon them. She believed that Jasper appeared in her visions because he was her mate. It drove her even deeper into the madness. Edward never noticed how far gone Alice truly was, because he never could read past the thoughts in the front of her mind.

I saw it all; Alice lost her mind many years ago. How she's able to pull off such a convincing act of being completely sane is a mystery to me and quite astonishing if you ask me, but Major Whitlock is right. She is a liability, she will never believe anything else than her own reality, a world in which Jasper is her mate and Bella needs to die. I'm sorry; Carlisle, but you can't save her. All the love and care in the world won't bring her true mate back and he is the only one that could truly get through to her. She will never stop wanting to kill Bella. Alice needs to die. I already discussed this with Marcus and Caius on our way over here. We just needed confirmation from Marcus concerning the bond between Jasper and Bella, but that bond confirmed my suspicion and with it her punishment."

Esme starts sobbing as Carlisle pulls her into his arms. Carlisle looks at Edward, undoubtedly asking something in his mind. Edward says: "I saw the images in his mind, Carlisle. He's telling the truth. Alice met her true mate in the asylum; his name was Alexander and she loved him with all her heart. His death drove her mad. She hid it all so well, I never had a clue." Carlisle nods, turns to Aro, and says: "Can we please say goodbye?"

Aro nods and signals Alec to pull back his gift. Peter and Char step back from Alice as Felix and Demetri take their place, and move to stand with us. We watch as Alice slowly regains all her senses but my main focus is on Esme. There's a certain look in her eyes that has me worried. I squeeze Jasper's hand and he leans down to whisper in my ear: "I know, darlin', Esme is feeling quite determined about something. This is not going to end well."

Aro moves to stand in front of Alice and says: "Alice Cullen, you have been found guilty of giving false testimony and of trying to kill the true mate of Major Whitlock. Your punishment is death by dismemberment, after which you will be burned. Nothing you will say or do now will change this verdict. The Volturi have spoken. Your family wishes to say goodbye."

And with that chaos erupts again. Alice starts screaming and kicking, while Edward and Carlisle try to calm her down. But my gaze never leaves Esme, who turns around and lunges for me. Oh boy, this is turning out to be a long day.
