Chapter 11: Archer
CLANG
The sounds of metal clashing against one another can be heard throughout this wasteland.
CLANG
"You really think killing your past self will erase all your mistakes!? All you're doing is running away from them!" I yelled.
"Idiot, can't you see, every step he takes will only lead towards becoming me! If he continues going down this road, eventually you'll find my face staring back at you in the future. I am his destiny!" Archer retorted.
CLANG
"Didn't I already say that his fate is no longer set in stone!? Shirou Emiya will never become the Heroic Spirit EMIYA. His path is one that even I can't determine, there are too many possibilities." I stated.
CLANG
SHATTER!
Archer stabs me with Kanshou, but the poor blade shatters on contact. I take my gauntlet and punch him square in jaw, sending him flying across the wasteland. I dash towards the crash site but Archer was nowhere to be seen. Where did he go?
[Above you!]
I look up to find a legion of swords hanging in the sky, only to immediately come down on me. The blades broke the moment they came into contact with my armor, they didn't do anything.
In fact, they just annoyed me.
"Negative Burst!"
Negative energy envelopes my body only for it to expand outwards and disintegrate all incoming projectiles. The area was now filled with motes of light as the swords on the ground also started to break down.
"Trace on." I heard.
In a swift motion, Archer attacked me with a different sword this time and blocked it with my arm. However, there was something different about this sword…
It burns!
Somehow, the sword was burning through the armor plating and I could feel it slowly melting through the metal and into my skin. I quickly kick him in the stomach and use my wings to make some distance between us.
"That sword…!" I recognized that weapon perfectly, one of the few things that can harm me in this form. A two-handed, golden greatsword with a blue jewel embedded in the hilt that boasts a magnificence and enormity that makes it seem as if it was created by inhuman hands.
A dragon-slayer!
"Bare witness to your folly and ingrain the image, for it is the last thing you will see."
I deploy an A.T. Field, though this one was different from the last time I used it. Instead of a thin octagonal-like membrane, this one was composed of multiple glass-like layers - 20 in total - and instead of orange, it emitted a rainbow-like glow.
"My body is bathed in the blood of a dragon, my convictions shouldering the weight of a dream that has no future- O sword, Let thee be filled." Solemn words that reflect his life as a hero, a man who never got the happy ending he wanted, and instead all he got was regret.
Archer held the sword above his head, and it began to glow with an orange light that was truly blinding.
The nature of this light was unmistakable to me.
"Balmung!" Archer yelled.
A surging twilight wave in the form of a semicircle expanded with the simple purpose of destruction. Holy light came down towards me, and obliterated the surrounding hills.
CRACK!
"Senpai!" Sakura cried.
A plate falls as Shirou collapses onto the floor. He could feel his magic circuits burn inside him for some reason. It felt like he was suffocating in an oven of sorts, and began to see vivid visions of a hill filled with swords; it was alien, yet he was all too familiar with it.
An endless land filled with swords...
Eventually, this feeling subsides and picks up the broken plate.
"Are you alright?" Sakura asks.
Shirou looks up and gives her a smile, "I'm fine, Sakura, just got a bit dizzy. Anyways, could you tell everyone that dinner will be ready soon?"
Sakura, although worried, complies and heads out to tell everyone. Shirou can't help but wonder what the hell just happened; it's like a veil of smoke suddenly hitting him in the face. He could tell there was something different, but couldn't put his finger on it.
Speaking of changes, he hasn't seen his Servant in quite some time, and wonders where he ran off to.
Archer surveys the sheer destruction he created with dead silence. Balmung, the cursed holy blade of the Heroic Spirit Siegfried. It was said that Siegfried used this sword to slay the evil dragon Fafnir and bathed in his blood, becoming something closer to a dragon. As such, Archer surmised that this sword would be quite effective on a being who embraces the aspect of a dragon as Foreigner's armor seems to house the core of a dragon thus giving it power.
"Damn, that was scary…"
Archer stares at the dust cloud for any signs of movement, "if I hadn't put up my A.T. Field when I did, I would probably be bleeding out on the floor right now. I'll admit, I kind of underestimated just how many Noble Phantasms you have stored here. Then again, I don't actually know where you go when Alaya calls on you to save mankind, so for all I know you've been all over the planet's history and have amassed quite the arsenal in the process. But so have I."
BANG
Archer narrowly dodges a bullet and as it explodes upon making contact with one of the nearby blades, leaving a crater where it used to be.
'What the hell!?' Archer gaped at the sheer destruction, 'something so tiny did that!? Jesus...!'
When the smoke clears, Archer sees his opponent is now holding a black pistol with a long barrel (the recoil must be insane!)
"And I can safely say that mine is bigger than yours." I quipped.
[Noble Phantasm deployed. Type: Anti-Unit]
Archer focuses his Reality Marble, creating new swords and launching them straight for me. I switch out my wings and activate my rocket thrusters, dodging the barrage of swords while shooting Archer. Archer simply danced around my shots while continuing to fire his swords at me. The weapon is powerful but for someone like him, it might as well be moving in slow motion.
"Do you really think you can beat me with such a mediocre weapon? I will kill you before you can pull the trigger again!" Archer taunted.
You're right, how about I give you something worthy of a Counter Guardian?" I stated.
I toss the Jackal aside and begin to focus. The jewels on my body begin to glow brighter as my body is surrounded in a crimson cloak, "Mode Change: Welsh Blaster Bishop!"
[CHANGE FANG BLAST]
Archer, sensing the oncoming danger, leaps back and summons his bow along with Caladbolg and fires it, hitting him directly. The area is disintegrated by the resulting explosion, however, a figure leaps out and lands in front of Archer. Unlike the last iteration, this one discards the dragon wings entirely and replaces them with two cannons at the back of his armor. He could feel the absurd amount of mana coming from the armor, ready to burst!
[BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST]
"All you seem to care about is being in the right, never actually looking at the smaller details. As long as he has people by his side, a Hero of Justice is invincible and I will not let someone like you say otherwise. I'll show you that Shirou Emiya's dream is not a mistake!" I yelled as anchors locked my legs into the ground.
Archer's eyes twitch with concealed fury as this thing dared to spout such nonsense. He will make him learn his place, and then kill the boy after. He traces Balmung again and activates its Noble Phantasm.
[BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST]
"Eat this, Dragon Blaster!" The cannons fire a burst of magical energy, destroying everything in its path. At the same time, Archer swung the sword down and sent a torrent of Holy light straight towards me. The two attacks clash, resulting in an explosion so massive that it engulfed the entire Reality Marble.
Taiga's cat ears stood up as she sensed something was amiss.
"Something's wrong." Taiga states.
Rin was the first to respond, "eh? What do you mean?"
Taiga didn't answer, and instead ran out of the living room and made a b-line for the garden.
"Hey, where are you going!?" Rin demanded.
Shirou then comes in as he hears Rin yelling, "Tohsaka, what's wrong?"
Rin turns to Shirou, "Fujimura-sensei just ran out of the room for some reason!"
"Well, come on we got to make sure she doesn't get hurt or worse." Shirou said.
The two of them got up and followed Taiga to the garden.
It's burning...
Archer's world is burning!
Ash and brimstone greeted my nose as I breathed in the destruction. The land was nothing more than charcoal and melted steel, some the swords can be seen melting by crimson and holy energy. The monolithic gears that hung ominously in the sky fell to the ground and broke apart upon impact.
I walk through the destroyed world, a world of death as I search for its other resident.
"Archer…? Archer!" I called out.
Despite everything, I never truly hated him. The man went through hell over and over for a dream that no longer held any meaning, and it only got worse when he became a Counter Guardian. He was driven to a corner, unable to accept his mistakes or admit that he may have pursued it incorrectly; Archer spiraled into a deep depression. When he was called upon as a Servant for Holy Grail War, he thought that he could end his madness by killing his younger self resulting in creating a paradox that would erase him forever.
[Behind you!]
From the smoke, a sword flies through the ash and runs me through the chest!
"GAUUUGH! AHHHHH!"
I look down and my eyes widen at the weapon. It was a double edged-weapon with a white blade and a golden hilt. I take my hand to remove the blade, but it burns my hand the moment I touch it.
"It is said that Saint George went to Egypt and rescued a princess that was being offered as a sacrifice to a dragon, killing the dragon by striking it at a spot uncovered by scales with Ascalon. As a result, the sword gained notoriety for being able to kill a dragon, earning the title of 'Dragon-Slayer' alongside its wielder."
I move my head up to see Archer standing in front of me though a bit worse for wear, and by "worse" I mean "he's in really bad shape". His red open skirt has been burned away completely, and the red coat was missing both sleeves. His body armor has taken extensive damage, barely covering his torso and was now bleeding in places. His face was covered with cuts along with bits of shrapnel, probably caused by Balmung breaking on him. His hair was ruffled into a familiar mess and his eyes no longer had that sharpness in them.
He now looked like Shirou Emiya more than anything.
"You… are a real piece of work, you know that?" Archer wheezed.
I let out a strained chuckle at the question, "you're one to talk. You… deliberately avoided a vital spot."
Archer walks slowly, he lets out a painful groan with every step, until he is in front of me, "why?" he asked, "you knew full well what I was planning from the beginning. You could have killed me the moment I attacked you that day, so why didn't you?"
I let out loud coughs, Archer sees a trail of blood coming from the helmet, "you're asking me this now? What took you so long?"
"Answer the question, you dolt!" Archer yelled.
"Well…" I began, "I thought that as much as I hate what you've become, you still deserve a second chance; for you and Shirou both. Shirou needs to see that becoming a Hero of Justice isn't as easy as he thinks and we both know the lonely existence that will lead to once he begins his pursuit. It is vague as hell and it comes close to being altruistic, but it isn't something you have to throw away. You had to be reminded of how beautiful it is and that your mistakes aren't yours to bear. You did everything you could to save humanity, no one asked you to do what you did but you did anyway, but in the end you forgot one important detail."
"And what would that be?" Archer asked.
I look up to meet Archer's gaze, "that you're human and that you have limits. Even with your magecraft, you can't save everyone; it's just not possible. You could have asked for help, you had friends, family, people who cared about you and yet in your arrogance, you threw them all away and continued to pursue a dream that you had no chance of achieving, at least not the way you wanted. And that, Archer, is your biggest mistake."
Archer looked like he had been hit by a truck. For a long time, he had assumed that everyone abandoned him because of his dream; sometimes blamed them for that fateful day, where his fate began at zero.
But he was wrong.
So wrong.
They would never abandon him, it was the opposite. Rin, Sakura, Illya, Taiga… they loved him too much to ever do that to him. He just… left them behind.
"I really am such a fool…" Archer mutters.
SHATTER
The scenery around us breaks down as the Reality Marble comes undone, returning us back to the Kendo Room.
"How could not have realized it sooner? In my hubris, I left behind the one thing that defines a hero: their loved ones. I am so pathetic." Archer said somberly.
"While that may be so, the fact that you realized these flaws make you a stronger person. Maybe, you can become a real hero just yet." I assured him.
"Hahahahaha… hehehehahahahahaheaha! 'Become a real hero', to think you'd say something like that after everything that's happened, you really are one of a kind!" Archer closed his eyes, for the first time in a long time he was actually smiling from the heart.
"Yeah, I tend to have that effect on people." I grab the handle of the sword and slowly pull until it's out completely .
"You could have pulled it out the entire time?" Archer asked, surprised.
The armor vanishes as the hole in my chest closes up, "yup! Truth be told, Ascalon had no effect on me and I'm not sure if I can be killed. Still, that doesn't mean it didn't hurt because it did." I toss the sword aside and it disappears into motes of lights. "A lot!"
Archer laughs at my outburst. He looks at the window and notices that it's night time outside, "well I guess it's time to go, your Master's probably worried about you."
"Hold on, first I got to patch you up." I tell him.
[Noble Phantasm deployed. Type: Anti-Reality]
"I think, therefore I am… All Fiction."
With a wave of my hand, Archer's injuries disappear completely. His hairstyle was what it originally was back to what it was before and even his outfit was fully restored. Archer looks down and marbles at the change, even his mana reserves were back to normal.
It's almost as if… nothing has happened.
"What did you do?" Archer asked.
"I used an ability called All Fiction. Basically, it allows me to deny reality and make anything 'nothing'. In this case, I just made all the damage you sustained ceased to exist." I explained.
"How many Noble Phantasms do you even have?" Archer said.
I smirked, "It's actually all just one Noble Phantasm."
Archer blinked a few times before opening his mouth. "Only one!?"
I nod.
"Holy shit…" Archer tried to process this, to be honest it made sense. A lot of the Noble Phantasms Frank used had never been heard of before, otherwise he would have recognized any of them. So does this mean that he creates Noble Phantasms with just a thought or is he accessing the Root for records of unknown Noble Phantasms.
He is just so broken.
"That's not fair at all…" Archer mutters.
I roll my eyes, "this coming from the guy who can project Noble Phantasms and has a Reality Marble that basically pulls a middle finger to common sense? Yeah, that's so unfair."
Before Archer could retort, the doors flew open and Taiga jumped up and landed on him.
"Shirou! I sensed something wrong and came to check if you were okay!?" Taiga cried.
Both of us did a double take on what she just said.
"You know who I am?" Archer asked in disbelief.
Taiga gives Archer a toothy smile, "of course, I know!" She ruffles his hair, "Only Shirou would sweep his hair up and think it's cool!"
Archer looks at her for a few seconds and laughs, "of course, you'd know. There was no way I could ever hide it from you, Fuji-nee!"
Taiga huffs in pride, "well obviously. I have to look out for my little brother!"
"You never change…" Archer gave Taiga a heartfelt smile. For the first time in a long time, life made sense again.
"Fuji-nee, wait up!" A voice yelled.
Just then Rin and Shirou run inside, "seriously, you can't just up and leave like th-" Shirou stops mid-sentence and sees Taiga on top of a color swap clone of himself.
Rin was just as surprised though her surprise though hers was more obvious, "Emiya-kun!?" She then looks back and forth, "there's two of you now!"
[This just got complicated]
"You got that right." I agreed.
In the alleyways of Shinto, Gilgamesh can be seen walking aimlessly almost like his looking for something.
Or someone.
Behind him was the mongrel Kirei stuck him with, Shinji Matou, it's a miracle he even bothered remembering his name.
"How long before we get the drop on Emiya and Rin Tohsaka?" Shinji asked. After being left stuffed in a trash can, he'd love nothing more than to kill them for making him look like a fool.
Gilgamesh was practically growling… he really, really wanted to skewer this pest and leave it to die somewhere and what's worse is that Kirei's dead and he doesn't know who was responsible, which is saying something. "Be silent insect or you will meet a fate worse than your disgusting grandfather."
Shinji yelps and trembles in fear.
Gilgamesh then returns back to his thoughts. After meeting that outsider, Kirei decided it would be an entertaining idea for him to become this cockroach's Servant; though unofficially as the vermin lacks magic circuits. Then the infestation at the park happened, and that's when he saw it.
A black comet came down from the Heavens and eviscerated the infestation in one fell swoop with that worm dealt with soon after.
He knew that the outsider had something to do with it, and it pleased him. When they first met, Gilgamesh had a feeling that the being before him was holding back, and though the black comet was quite the spectacle to behold, he could still see he was still holding back. He imagines what would have happened if they had fought that day, to let go of all his restraints, and a feral smile forms on his face.
"!"
Gilgamesh abruptly stops. Shinji, not paying attention, bumped into him and became terrified. However, rather than lash out, Gilgamesh stood there frozen.
"G-Gilgamesh?" Shinji asked nervously.
Suddenly, Gilgamesh started running. There was something, something that made him feel fear, an emotion that he didn't know was possible.
Fear… and madness!
Shinji, not understanding what's going on, follows Gilgamesh.
After some time, Gilgamesh arrives at an open area in the alleyway… and that's when he sees it.
A humanoid silhouette that seems to be made up of pure darkness, and the mountain of corpses surrounding it. In its hand was its latest victim, slowly being drained of their life force until there's nothing else; not even their soul is spared.
But that didn't concern him, what concerned was that this wretched thing was dirtying his garden like a parasite.
This cannot be allowed!
"You dare come to my garden and soiled it in my presence!? You must be gluten for punishment, CUR!" A couple golden portals manifest behind him and fire weapons at the creature, however, rather than being impaled, the weapons are simply swallowed by the darkness.
"Impossible…" Shinji mumbles in fear.
The silhouette lets go of its victim and turns to the duo, Gilgamesh specifically. It then begins to approach them, every step it takes feels like an eternity or the emptiness that comes with eternity.
Gilgamesh fires more weapons trying to make this thing stop its advance, but all that did was feed it with its treasury.
He never even noticed the silhouette was right in front of him.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! HELP ME!"
Gilgamesh turns to see Shinji sinking into the ground, being swallowed by the darkness.
STAB!
Turning back, he sees that the silhouette has run him through the chest. What was odd was that he didn't feel it, and then realized he couldn't feel anything at all. As darkness begins to envelop them both, Gilgamesh sees what the creature was attempting to do, but as much as he wants to resist he could do nothing.
His body was no longer his own.
The cocoon of darkness sinks into the ground and disappears, leaving only the corpses behind.
Omake: Zaber
Walking down Chaldea, I see Risuka walking down with Artoria by her side, skipping happily.
Though something was... off.
"Oh hi, Frank! Artoria here was about to show me a new technique down at the simulation room. Wanna come see?" Risuka asked.
"Oui, pleaze come and join us, monsieur Frank." "Artoria" said.
I raise an eyebrow, "uh Ritsuka, since when did Artoria have a French accent?"
"Hmm? I don't know, but you know what? I like her new attitude." Ritsuka said.
"Oui, Master. Ze new me is for ze better." "Artoria" replied ominously.
[Okay, something is definitely wrong here]
"Master?"
Turning around, I see another Artoria standing behind me.
"What the… Artoria!? There's two of you!?" Ritsuka exclaims.
"Master, stand back she is an impostor!" Artoria pulls out Excalibur.
"Artoria" then begins to chuckle, "so my cover has been blown. I am ze King That Never Was… ze twin sister of the one who stole the kingdom. "I am…" She pulls out a mustache and puts it on, "ZABER!"
"..."
"You have the same name?" I said.
"IT'Z SPELLED WITH A "Z"!" Zaber yelled.
"She is correct, there is a "z" in it." Artoria confirms.
"Wii" Ritsuka pulls out a Nintendo Wii.
"Who asked for your opinion?" I asked Risutka.
"YOU STOLE EVERYTHING FROM ME! And now I'm going to steal everything from you. Your knights, your Master… everything." Zaber said.
"Noooooo, not Mordred! Noooooo..." Artoria put no emotion into her words.
"But wait, we already have an evil twin: Saber Alter." Ritsuka points out.
Saber Alter waves at us from a distance.
"She doesn't count." Artoria retorts.
Saber Alter pouts and leaves.
"This time, the story goes my way! Its on my side now! Not yours, not Mordred's, not even that stupid sunofabitch of a Servant! A war is coming and when it arrives, YOU WILL-" Before she finished, Zaber is shot in the head.
Turning around, we see Jeanne holding the gun!
"Jeanne, what the fuck-GUAAAARK!" I couldn't finish as a I started throwing up.
"There can only be one French Heroine in this show, and it'z not you bitch!" Jeanne states.
Noble Phantasms used:
Balmung: Phantasmal Greatsword, Felling of the Sky Demon (A+) Anti-Army Noble Phantasm
The Noble Phantasm of Siegfried having it received from the Nibelungen family as a reward after fairly and impartially dividing it up and distributing their treasure. It is the holy sword of the Nibelungs, used to slay the dragon, Fafnir. It is a cursed holy blade possessing the attributes of Gram, the demonic blade of its origin, so it will change attributes between holy sword and demonic sword depending on who wields it. Having accomplished the feat of dragon slaying, those with the blood of dragons will take additional damage from it. Perhaps because it was owned by a king, it specializes in fighting against armies, shooting off a semi-circular slash wave.
Upon chanting "—O sword, Let thee be filled", he holds it above his head, and it begins to glow with an orange light. The jewel stores and preserves magic energy, True Ether from the Age of Gods, and releasing it causes it to emanate a twilight aura. The twilight swells around the sword and is released as a flash of light, a surging wave with the simple purpose of destruction. Compared to the straight line released by Clarent Blood Arthur, it releases a wave of twilight in a semicircle that is centered around him.
It has an extremely fast activation rate for an Anti-Army Noble Phantasm, but in a comparison of speed, Siegfried when he was alive was the fastest in activating it, with Sieg being the next fastest and the Servant Siegfried being the slowest out of them. Sieg possesses Galvanism, which the Servant Siegfried does not have, and can draw out the needed Magical Energy all at once when activating the Noble Phantasm. The living Siegfried, on the other hand, had his inborn disposition combined with the transformation of his heart into a Magic Core due to being bathed in and drinking a dragon's blood, so he could draw forth magical energy and fire the slash wave even faster than Sieg. Unfortunately, the moment he was summoned as the Servant Saber, that special characteristic of his was highly degraded.
Hellsing Combat Pistol "Jackal" (C+) Anti-Unit Noble Phantasm
Also known as the Hellsing ARMS 13 mm Auto Anti-Freak Combat Pistol, Jackal or "The Jackal" for short, it is a powerful handgun designed for the specific purpose of killing supernatural creatures to a degree alongside its sibling. It has a length of 39cm (16 in), a weight of 16kg (35lbs), and a black gunmetal construction, and uses massive 13mm explosive rounds. The words "Jesus Christ is in Heaven now" are engraved upon it.
The Jackal fires a huge, armor-piercing, 13mm hollow point bullet. The rounds are jacketed with a "casing" of blessed Macedonian silver and features an explosive tip containing a charge of pre-blessed mercury. However, the 13mm round's size limits the Jackal's magazine capacity to six rounds. A single bullet is capable of destroying objects such as walls and other objects as well as blow limbs clean off.
Illegal Move Triaina: Red Dragon Emperor's Three-Pronged Promotion (EX) Self Noble Phantasm
A unique technique that changes his Scale Mail armor into three different forms, each named after chessboard pieces:
Welsh Sonic Boost Knight, also known as the Dragon Star Knight, is Scale Mail's Knight form. In this form, it grants the user enormous speed (Godspeed as he called it), but to make full use of it, it must shed the excess armor, causing it to become thin to the point where it has low defense, making the user vulnerable to powerful attacks.
To change into Welsh Sonic Boost Knight, the user shouts the form's name, in which they gain an increase in speed. By shouting "Armor Release!" it causes all but the absolute minimum armor required to fly to be shed in order to reduce weight and drag, further increasing speed. The armor then morphs into a more aerodynamic form, after which the Boosted Gear announces "Change Star Sonic!"
Welsh Dragonic Rook, also known as the Rigid Dragon Tank, is Scale Mail's Rook form. In this form, the user possesses massive power and defense but has a low body maneuvering speed because of the massive, thickened armor.
Its finishing move is Solid Impact, a punch that has its power and speed increased by nailing the percussion hammer located at his elbow.
To change into Welsh Dragonic Rook, the user shouts the form's name, in which the armor is enveloped in a dense aura which changes the armor's form into a larger form, after which the Boosted Gear announces "Change Solid Impact!"
Welsh Blaster Bishop, also known as the Dragon Fang Monk, is Scale Mail's Bishop form. In this form, the user possesses an enormous amount of magical energy, which is applied to the two cannons at the back of their armor.
Its finishing move is Dragon Blaster, a severely boosted equivalent of the Dragon Shot capable of leveling battlefields and briefly warping space-time. The drawbacks to this is the amount of time it takes to charge the cannons and stamina lost with each shot.
To change into Welsh Blaster Bishop, the user shouts the form's name, in which an aura forms a backpack and two cannons, after which the Boosted Gear announces "Change Fang Blast!"
Ascalon: The Blessed Sword By Which Force is Slain (B) Anti-Unit Noble Phantasm
The holy sword of Saint George, the Dragon-slaying Saint, a double edged-weapon with a white blade and a golden hilt. It is an invincible weapon that delivers its holder from those who would intend harm and malice. Its "invincibility" comes not from the capacity to defeat foes, but the capacity to defend from all harm. However, by reversing its protective power, it becomes a sword that pierces through any kind of armor. Also, it can be granted the draconic attribute from his other Noble Phantasm.
All Fiction: Reality Means Nothing to Me (EX) Anti-Reality Noble Phantasm
Also known as the Lying Demon, it is a power that denies aspects of reality and makes anything "nothing". Because of this, the user can undo anything that has been damaged, and thus he has no qualms about being destructive. However, once he removes something, it cannot return it as it has become "fiction". This ability can even reverse the user's death as well as the death of others. It should be noted that this power is constantly restrained as, unless careful, the entire world would become nothing.
An alternate version exist called Non Fiction. With it, the user is able undo all the changes done with All Fiction, returning Reality back to how it was before All Fiction was activated.
Negative Burst allows the caster to send out a burst of negative energy from around their body.
The concept of a Reality Marble, or Innate Bounded Field is one that centers around the materialization and projection of one's inner world onto reality following the Thaumaturgical Theory World Egg. Originally, it was an ability specifically had by daemons as their Alien Common Sense, but has since come to include the unique Bounded Fields possessed by many people, such as the Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors and the greatest of magi who have made this ability available to use through a long time. As such, Reality Marbles represent the pinnacle of all Bounded Fields where the boundary line becomes the space itself.
The created worlds are completely cut off from normal reality, projecting their internal landscape and sealing off the regular World. Following the World Egg theory, the actualization of a Reality Marble is the result of switching the Self and the World while keeping the boundary the same. The size of the Self and the World is switched, enclosing the World in a small container while the Self is expanded. The contained World is the World Egg and the name of the theory. They will encase anyone within range, causing them to disappear from view. Magi are still able to feel the presence of the Bounded Field, and while they cannot be directly affected from the outside, a large burst of mana, such as Excalibur, may be able to disrupt them. The World constantly attempts to crush the unnatural bounded fields as they are not created by spiritual beings, meaning that it costs a great deal of magical energy to construct one and keep it stabilized. This generally only allows them to be used for a few minutes, but given their powerful nature, that is likely enough time to properly utilize them; even the strongest Dead Apostle cannot maintain a Reality Marble for more than a single night. Each world has its own set of patterns and rules, which can be said to be an invasion of reality by the diagram inscribed on the soul, and as it is just one aspect put into form, the user cannot add their own will into the form of the barrier.
The practitioners can also make use of certain aspects of their Reality Marbles without activating them. Unlimited Blade Works is responsible for the Projection and Reinforcement abilities of its practitioners, and Rider is able to summon a single soldier from Ionioi Hetairoi at any time without bringing about the corrective impulses of the World. Some can be activated inside the body of the user, such as Unlimited Blade Works going out of control and creating swords inside of Shirou Emiya, and in a special case, Nrvnqsr Chaos only deploys his Reality Marble inside his own body, which allows him to avoid the corrective impulses of the World.
If two Reality Marbles are deployed at the same time, the stronger one will manifest. If both are at the same level, it becomes a "battle between two worlds;" in which both are deployed and one can defend in their Reality Marble or travel to the other.
Counter Guardian, also called the Protectors of Balance is a broad classification of Heroic Spirits made up of heroes who are not worshipped, utilized as a mindless Counter Force. Other Heroic Spirits have a high Divinity and act as existences closer to the planet than humanity, so they are able to avoid being drafted by the Counter Force. Normal circumstances are those where the Counter Force empowers a "normal person" in life to remove the factor that can trigger destruction, eventually causing them to be worshipped as heroes. Those who become heroes in such a manner are then used as Counter Guardians, the "Counter" emphasized because they act with no autonomy of their own and only appear in response to an event.
