Heart and Soul of the Matter Part 2
Far away, on a caterbus towards Trollstopia, a pair of red Techno trolls with blue hair and light blue hearts were riding it, and they looked like they were identical twin brothers. Except, the troll on the right had a black bandanna around his neck and a blue one tied around his left tail fin. The one on the left had its right arm full of glowing bracelets as he said (voiced by Bob Saget), "Neal, how much farther till we get to Trollstopia"? The now identified troll on the right groaned as he replied (voiced by John Stamos), "Seal, if I have to tell you one more time, I'm going to pop your head off your neck! We get there when we get there, but at least we can agree that I hope it's soon. The sooner we get there, the sooner we can fulfill Typhoon's wishes." The other now identified troll smiled, saying, "Yeah! I'm still fuming that our boss is stuck in that dirty, filthy prison for absolutely nothing! All he tried to do was "reconcile" with his former "friend." Instead, she gets him arrested, and that weird pink freak who got him jailed, to begin with"! Neal rolled his eyes, saying, "We can't mess this up for him! According to the last letter he sent, he came up with a great idea for us to dish out what he couldn't, but we need to get a drop of blood of the troll she loves." Seal thought about it, saying, "All we have to do is create an "accident" so that funk troll's she got hots for cuts himself, and we can catch a drop of blood before he even notices that he's hurt. But can I be honest? Why is she in love with a funk troll? That's weird, dumb, and if anything, disgusting." Neal chuckled, adding, "Yeah. Imagine if they tried to do "it"! I'm pretty sure he'd strangle her before they even got started"! Both brothers laughed as the caterbus kept moving towards the diverse town.
Meanwhile, in Rhythm and Blues's spaceship, the funk twins worked hard on their newest creation. As Blues was screwing in one last screw to what looked like a colorful ray, Rhythm placed down a plate that had a marshmallow on it onto the table. Once all set, Blues shouted, "It's D to the done, girl! Our new rainbow filler ray is finally complete"! Rhythm smiled and said, "Perfect! Now, to test it out." Rhythm walked over to the new device and pressed a button that made the ray activate, shooting a rainbow beam at the marshmallow. After some time, the beam disappeared, and at first, the marshmallow still seemed normal. Blues approached it and used a plastic knife to cut it in half before separating the two halves carefully. Inside, the marshmallow was glowing the six colors of the rainbow, almost like a cake. Rhythm and Blues cheered as they did their special handshake while rhythm commented, "We did it! We made a device that can turn the inside of food into a rainbow." Blues smiled and said, "Yes to the yes, girl"! Soon, they heard shouting from outside as Rhythm peaked her head out the window and saw Aggie with Laguna, waving them down. Rhythm knew exactly what they wanted as she went to the controls and brought them up via bubble. Once inside, the bubble landed and allowed both trolls to land safely inside as Aggie said, "Hey, R and B"! Both funk twins said in unison, "Hey," before Rhythm asked, "what brings you both to our humble lab"? Laguna stepped forward, saying, "Well...I need your help on something, as fellow researchers. See...something strange happened to me earlier in Techno Lagoon...and I think it might be because of magic. But to see if I'm right, can you guys...do some tests to see"? Rhythm and Blues looked at one another in concern before they nodded in agreement, saying in unison, "We got you, girl."
Blues guided Laguna to a chair as she asked, "So, what exactly happened"? Aggie explained, "See Blues, earlier, Synth's giant DJ mixer acted up, and it created real lasers that were firing randomly. Trollex, Synth, Stereo, Branch, Finn, Laguna, and I acted quickly to help evacuate everyone, but then Finn saw that he was about to be hit with a huge laserbeam and had no time to dodge. Courageously, Laguna swam to her brother and stood in front of him, willing to take the hit of the laserbeam when her heart changed color again. Suddenly, a white glow appeared from her chest, and it created a forcefield around her and her brother, which reflected the laserbeam and sent it back to the mixer, which exploded. Afterward, we all heard her heart beating once we could safely regroup, which sounded like a funk rhythm instead of a Techno troll's normal heartbeat. It returned to normal a bit afterward, but now, Laguna's curious as to what could be causing it." Laguna nodded, adding, "The color change has been occurring for some time now since it first started in Vibe City a little over 4 tears ago, but this is the first time something additional occurred during the color change." Blues was speechless as Rhythm, who overheard the story while getting a few tools, spoke up, commenting, "Dang. That does sound strange, but also very inspiring if I may add." Blues added, "Woah. Hmmm...going by how you described it, girl, it sounds like...some form of magic." Aggie spoke up, saying, "That's what I said, but I'm unsure if it came from me or maybe a different source." The funk twins seemed to understand as Rhythm then commented, "No worries. We should find out exactly what's causing it soon. We need to get a blood sample and do a brain wave examination, and we should get results soon."
Laguna suddenly felt her heart stop beating as she nervously shouted, "Blood test"?! Blues the realized why Laguna felt scared about it as she said, "Uh, R," as she shot a concerned look at her sister. When Rhythm replied, "Yeah," she then noticed what Blues was telling her as she replied, "Oh...I almost forgot about that." Rhythm walked up to Laguna as she commented, "Sorry, Laguna. We almost forgot you probably wouldn't be fond of that because of...well...what you've been through." Laguna took some shaky deep breaths as she replied, "I know...and I know this blood test would help...but...it's just that...," Aggie got a great idea as she snapped her fingers, saying, "Be right back," and flew out of the spaceship to get something. About a minute later, Aggie flew back into the spaceship, carrying McJagger, who commented as Aggie placed him down, "Woah, alright, alright, alright. Such a groovy feeling to have my feet off the ground for once." He saw the funk twins and Laguna looking at him as he waved hello, saying, "What's happening, ladies"? Blues walked over to him, saying, "It's funktastic that you're here! You mind giving us a hand and comfort Laguna"? McJagger became confused, and at the same time, concerned, as he asked, "Of course,e but what's going on? Is something wrong"? Rhythm replied as she tied a tourniquet onto Laguna's right arm, "Nothing's wrong. We need to do a blood test to determine something for Laguna, but she's a bit timid about us doing it." Right at the last word, McJagger walked towards Laguna, saying, "It'll be ok, boo. It's just a quick shot, that's it. I'll be right here with you, comforting you and making things a little less scary for you." Laguna blushed a bit in embarrassment but could not help smiling as she responded with, "Your kindness seems to know no limits, McJagger. But...while I'm not necessarily scared of the withdrawal process, it's...well..." To help ease things, McJagger used his left front paw to caress her cheek as he calmly spoke, saying, "It'll be ok. You don't have to look at it happening. Just focus on me, and it'll be over before you know it. I'm not going anywhere; I'll be right here by your side. You might feel a small pinch, but only that, and nothing else. Promise." He used his other front paw to hold Laguna's hand of the arm that the blood withdrawal would occur.
Laguna's nerves seemed to melt away as she gazed into McJagger's caring eyes. Blues and Rhythm nodded in agreement as Blues applied a little hydrogen peroxide onto Laguna's arm before grabbing the syringe to collect the blood. Laguna's pupils quickly glanced to notice as McJagger felt her body tensing up again. He slowly allowed Laguna to lean her head into his chest as he said, "You're safe, Laguna. I promise you nothing bad's going to happen. We're here for you." Laguna's ear was gently pressed against his chest as she could hear his heart beating a soothing rhythm. Remaining in what almost looked like a trance, she smiled in content. She closed her eyes, listening to the heartbeat as McJagger nodded at Blues, who slowly inserted the syringe and collected d a bit of blood before taking it out, placing a band-aid on Laguna's arm. Once the ordeal was over, Aggie commented, "You can sit up and open your eyes now, Laguna. It's over." Laguna sat up and noticed the band-aid on her arm as she grinned, saying, "Huh, well, that wasn't so bad. But...I'm glad you were here, McJagger. It made things a lot better, especially for me." McJagger chuckled as he locked lips with Laguna before saying, "No problem, Laguna. Besides, as your boyfriend, it's my job to help you through whatever comes your way, no matter what." Aggie then cleared her throat as Laguna chuckled before saying, "And thank you too, Master Aggie, for bringing McJagger up here." Aggie smiled and said, "No problem, Laguna. Just doing my job as the Master of All Music." As Blues went to put the blood sample into a machine for testing, Rhythm then came forward, stating, "Now, all we need to do is see if any activity in your brain is causing this new magic ability to occur. Follow us." Rhythm guided Laguna to the chair where the brain waves machine was as she had the Techno troll sit down before placing the helmet on her.
Strapped safely, secure, and in a comfortable sense, Rhythm then turned the machine on as it beeped and flickered while gathering data. As they waited in anticipation, Blues was awaiting the results of the blood test. Soon, both machines the twins stopped and made a sound to signify that the data was collected. Blues got her printed results and went to bring them over to the group as Rhythm got the brain wave machine's results as well. Aggie helped Laguna remove the helmet while asking, "So, R, what does it say"? Rhythm looked at her paper as she said, "Huh. Everything here seems normal as compared to the data collected from other Techno trolls." This made everyone confused as Laguna asked while smoothing out her hair, "Are you sure? Nothing out of the ordinary that could relate to magic"? Rhythm looked again as she stated, "I'm pos to the tive that I'm sure, Laguna." Aggie thought about this for a minute as she commented, "Weird. When we were doing Melody, her brain waves were active towards the magic related to her ability. So why is it different for Laguna"? Blues walked towards the group as she said, "That ain't the only strange thing. The blood test results are out, but here's the gist. There are traces of magic, but..." Everyone listened in anticipation as McJagger asked, "But what"? Blues continued, saying, "The thing is...I can't determine the source. Comparing it to Melody and Aggie's results, Laguna's are really different. I can't seem to get a definite idea of where it came from, as opposed to when we did Aggie and Melody."
Laguna looked down in disappointment as she commented, "Oh. So, there's no way to be sure why my heart does this"? Rhythm and blues nervously looked at one another as Rhythm replied, "At the moment, no, but we're not going to give up! We'll look through our books and see if we can find something that might give us a clue. When we do, we'll let you know, Laguna." Laguna sighed before forcing a small smile as she said, "Ok. Thanks, anyways, R and B." Aggie could not help feeling really bad for Laguna, especially since she too was curious as to why Laguna's heart was acting the way it did. In slight disappointment, Laguna then asked, "Do you mind dropping me off over by the lake at Techno Lagoon"? Rhythm sadly nodded as she replied, "Sure thing, Laguna," as she went to steer the spaceship. A little while later, when the ship was hovering above the lake, Laguna walked towards the spaceship and said while trying to sound happy, "Well, thanks anyway, guys. I'll see you tomorrow...I guess," as was enveloped in a bubble and brought down into the water as Aggie, McJagger, Rhythm, and blues watched, feeling bad that they couldn't help find answers for their friend. Underwater, Laguna swam towards her house and opened the door, saying, "I'm home," as she entered and closed the door behind her. Her brother, Finn, was sitting on the couch watching a show as he said, "Oh, hey, Laguna. How did things go with the funk trolls"? Laguna looked down a bit in sadness as she said, "Well...it went...pretty good. They are still looking for answers, but...we made some progress." Hearing her tone of voice made Finn a little curious as he asked, "Hey little sis...are you ok"?
Laguna nodded as she said, "I'm fine. Just...hoping we can find the answers soon is all. If mom asks where I am, tell her I'm in my room." Laguna swam to her room before Finn could protest as her older brother muttered, "Something's up, and I'm gonna find out what." Hearing her close the door behind her, Finn slowly swam up to the door of Laguna's bedroom and quietly pressed his ear against the door, trying to hear what Laguna might be saying. Inside, Laguna placed her bag down onto the bed and went towards the mirror. She looked at her reflection for a while before looking at her heart, saying, "Why must you be so mysterious? Is that all people think of you...think of me as...a mystery that can never be solved"? She placed a hand over her heart as her gaze upon the mirror became deep, almost like she was caught in her own world, where music started to play, making Laguna sigh and sing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Reflection by Lea Salonga~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Laguna: *sighs* Look at me. I will never pass for a perfect troll or a perfect partner. Can it be I'm not meant to play this part? It's hard to see. I fear if I were truly to be myself, I would break every troll's heart.
Who is that girl I see? Staring straight back at me? Why is my reflection someone I don't know? Who's that girl who's laughed and cried? It's not me, though I try. When will my reflection show who I am inside?
How I pray that a time will come. I can free myself from all these years of pain and heartbreak. On that day, I'll discover someway to be myself and make my friends and family proud.
They want a docile lamb, but no one knows who I truly am. Must there be a secret me I'm forced to hide? Must I pretend that I'm feeling fine all the time? When will my reflection show who I am inside?
Why can't I figure myself out? The frustrations make me shout! My past, my present, my future, they all seem tied! My heart, my soul, all seems unclear. I'm left alone with my fears. When will my reflection show who I am inside? When will my reflection show who I am inside?
Laguna looked down at the floor, her hand becoming a fist as she kept it near her heart dearly, using her other hand to cover it. Laguna remained in this position until she felt a hand on her shoulder as she looked up and saw her mother and older brother looking at her in concern. Twilight placed a tender hand on her daughter's cheek as she asked, "You feeling ok, kelpcake"? Laguna looked at her mother before slowly shaking her head no as Twilight asked, "Why don't we go sit on the couch, and you tell us what seems ta be bothering you"? Laguna nodded as she, her mother, and Finn headed to the living room and sat down together on the couch. Twilight then asked, "so, Laguna, what's wrong"? Laguna did her best to piece her words as she responded with, "Well...there's this...personal mystery I'm trying to figure out and...I asked some friend of mine for help, but even they couldn't seem to figure it out. It's been on my kind all day, and well...it's just...making me a little worried is all." Finn looked over and asked, "Does it have to do with that incident with the lasers, your heart, and your new magic"? Laguna nodded as Twilight remained stunned before asking, "Crikey, Laguna, what brought this on"? Her daughter shrugged before answering, "Well, honestly, it first started as a curiosity, especially with my heart changing color. Then, this happens for the first time today, and now...I'm a little shaken." Finn did his best to try and not care, but deep down, he felt a lot of sympathy for Laguna, especially towards what happened, considering it did help save his life. If Laguna hadn't done what she did, he would've been dead. Laguna felt her mother wrap her arm around her as Twilight said, "You know, if you need any help with figuring out why your heart is doing this, Laguna, we can help you. Your brother, me, your friends, your funk darling McJagger, even the leaders can do whatever it takes to help you find answers. I know this seems scary and hard to comprehend, but with lots of support, we can do it."
When her mom mentioned the leaders, Laguna started to develop an idea as she hugged her mother and her brother, saying, "Thank you both," before going back to her room. Finn, a little confused, commented, "Well, that was quick," asTwilight chuckled, stating, "At least Laguna's feeling better, and that's what matters." Later, in the middle of the night, many trolls in Trollstopia were fast asleep, their heads filled with beautiful dreams. Twilight was asleep in her bed, Finn was snoring away on the easy chair in the living room, but Laguna was still awake. She couldn't sleep, still thinking about how the leaders could help her out. In her mind, she was thinking. The funk leaders might have a solid idea of what's going on. After all, since this thing with my heart seems to be connected to funk music, they might know something about this. I'll have to go to see Essence and hope that she'll know something about this. She quickly wrote a note with her plan in motion and left it on her bed before sneaking out the window and went up to the surface. She started to walk towards the village, hoping to get to the ship without anyone spotting her. Meanwhile, Aggie was doing a little stargazing through her telescope as she said, "Ooh! The stars look so pretty tonight, and there are so many wonderful constellations. Cuddle Major, the Big Fryer, the Laguna, Cuddle Minor, the- Laguna"?! Aggie aimed her telescope low to the ground and saw Laguna sneaking off somewhere as she asked herself, "What's she doing up at this hour? And where is she going? I gotta follow her," as she zipped out of her pod, proceeding to tiptoe after the Techno Troll.
Meanwhile, Laguna walked to a small, secluded section near Trollstopia, where the Vibe City spaceship was parked for the evening. Aggie tried to follow Laguna, hopping behind bushes and creeping behind trees. So far, things were looking good until her hoof stepped on a twig, and it snapped. Aggie dove behind a bush as Laguna looked behind her to see if anyone was around. Spotting no one, Laguna then boarded the spaceship while Aggie watched in curiosity, following her. Inside Vibe City, Laguna walked through the crowd of funk trolls as she said to herself, "If anyone can help me figure out this new magic, it's King Quincy and queen Essence. hopefully, they aren't asleep at this time." Laguna found a bubble taxi and boarded it, floating towards the funk leader's castle. Meanwhile, Aggie found herself in vibe City, flying above the crowd, trying to spot Laguna below. Then, Aggie looked up and saw Laguna floating in a bubble, heading towards the funk castle as she asked herself, "Darn, Laguna. What are you doing"? She followed Laguna as the Techno Troll soon entered the castle, as Aggie got an idea and pulled out her staff,w which allowed the MMT to teleport inside. The bubble soon lowered and popped, allowing Laguna to land safely in a chair, as the Techno troll smiled, commenting, "Nice landing. Ok, now to find the leaders." She got up and started shouting, "Hello? Your Majesties? Prince D? Anyone"? Before she could walk very far, Aggie suddenly appeared in front of her, startling Laguna and making her shout as she stumbled back, falling onto the ground. In a small panic, she asked, "Master Aggie?! What are you doing here," as she took some shaky deep breaths to calm down.
Aggie rolled her eyes and sarcastically remarked, "Oh, just visiting my adoptive family, because I missed them so much," before growing serious, saying as she placed her staff away, "Ok, I was sarcastic. I saw you sneaking into Vibe City, Laguna. The real question is, what are you doing here"? While Aggie was questioning Laguna, Essence had come over after hearing Laguna's shouts, wondering what was going on, as she listened while slowly approaching them. Laguna became a little nervous and stammered, trying to answer Aggie before sighing, replying, " I was hoping to speak with the funk leaders, especially Essence, to see if maybe, they might know something about what's going on with my heart," as she got up and readjusted her glasses while looking down in embarrassment. Aggie sighed as she commented, "Laguna, you should've told me. I know how much this means to you to find answers to why your heart is acting like this and how you suddenly have magic. But I'm your friend, and I'm always here to help you out, no matter what. If you want to talk to Aunt Essence, I'll be right behind you." Then, Essence spoke up, saying, "I'm also right behind you," which made Aggie turn around as both girls screamed in shock. Aggie realized how she acted as she quickly said, "I mean, aahhhh, hi Aunt Essence," while sporting a sheepish grin. Meanwhile, Laguna became a little nervous as she stammered, "Uh, your majesty! I-I mean, your funkiness! I-I mean, Essence! I-I mean-," but could not find the right words to say. Essence held out her paw as she said, "Please, you two don't need to explain. I heard everything. You said you wanted to speak with me, dear Laguna"?
The Techno troll hesitantly nodded while placing her hand in Essence's paw as she stated, "I'm trying to find some answers to something that just happened earlier, and I wanted to speak with you because, well, I believe it might have a connection to funk music." Essence seemed to understand as she said, "Then, come with me. I believe there might be answers at our library." She pressed a button that opened the room where the funk string used to be kept and walked inside as Aggie and Laguna looked at one another before following. Laguna could not help but be in awe at all the records and albums in the room, glistening so brightly like stars. A smile grew as she said, "What a fascinating room! But, will the answers be in here"? The funk queen nodded as she said, "Absolutely. We keep most of our records of everything historical here in this room. According to Poppy, her history about the strings was created in a scrapbook, which sometimes forgets a few details or says something a bit untruthful. But these records are the real thing. Solid evidence of the past." Aggie groaned as she said, "Ugh, this is why I don't like scrapbooks. We can't always depend on them because not all of them are true." Essence started to sift through a few albums as she asked, "Just a quick question, Laguna, what did exactly happen to your heart"?
Laguna tried to piece her words together as she nervously shuffled her fins while saying, "Well, for some time now, randomly, my heart changes color from teal green to purple, whether I'm with McJagger, my friends, or by myself. But today, something strange happened. When it changed color again, this time, a bright white glow appears from my chest, and it created a forcefield that protected my brother and me. Plus, after the forcefield went away, I noticed, and everyone heard my heart beating, but to a funk rhythm rather than normal. After a while, it changed back to normal, but it's left me unsure as to how I got this new magic, as Aggie described it, or why my heart does this. The color change," as she placed her hand over her heart while asking, "Am I changing? Is something wrong with me"? A sense of worry filed Laguna's body as Essence came forward, bringing Laguna into a small hug as she said, "It'll be ok. I don't think something wrong's with you. But from the way you described it, it certainly does sound like some kind of magic. The way I know about techno Trolls, their hearts don't act like that, nor beat in a different tune. Not even their ancestors did this. I think it has something to do with the Magic Musical Trolls. There must be something in the hidden room about the MMT." Aggie perked up at the chance to visit the secret room as she said, "Oh, Aunt Essence, let me help you." Aggie flew over to a silver ball and pressed it as a wall shook and opened up, revealing a passageway full of bookshelves. Laguna's jaw dropped at the sight of many books as Aggie had to use her rock hand to close it while the trio walked inside.
While sifting through the books and albums inside, Laguna asked, "So, what do the MMT's have to do with my heart acting this way"? Aggie responded, "Well, as I said before, Laguna, the Magic Techno Trolls' heart's color changed depends on their partner's music. That's the only explanation as to why your heart can turn purple from time to time. The only problem is you're not a Magic Techno Troll, you're a normal Techno Troll, so it would not really work. Unless..." Laguna started to feel scared as she asked, "Unless what," anticipating something bad. Then, Aggie smiled as she replied, " Unless... there must be magic energy inside you, just like Melody, but a different form of magic energy. And that forcefield you unleashed must have been a form of light Funk magic. I didn't say this before because I was unsure if it was really true. But now, thinking about it, I might be right." Essence then found an album of interest as she pulled it out while saying, "I believe I found what you doubted about, Aggie." She showed the album to them as Laguna asked, "So, what does it say"? Essence looked at the cover as she stated, "This album explains about light magic of the Funk Trolls, and it says here on the cover that the light forcefield activates when a Magic Funk Troll shows love and concern to his or her loved ones. while at the same time, not taking advantage of it for personal gain or interest." Aggie smiled and nudged Laguna's side as she said, "Just like what you did, Laguna! When you risked your own life to protect your brother"! Laguna held where Aggie nudged her and blushed in embarrassment as she commented, "Yeah, I guess so. But wait. you said this occurred with the Magic Funk Trolls. I'm a normal Techno troll. So, how am I able to do this"? Aggie and Essence thought for a minute before the funk queen commented, "Well, you are right that the purple coloring and funk rhythm ties to funk music, which means that your partner would be a funk troll, which would obviously be McJagger since you love him." Aggie added, "Yeah, and at the same time, since these glowing hearts with different colors and making different music beats happens only to Magic Techno Trolls, there might be magic energy in you that was released from me whenever I spent time with you, like Melody's case."
Laguna began to put the pieces together as she slowly came to realize it as she stated, "You know...your theory sounds logical, and it makes sense. I love McJagger, and because I spend so much time with him, in a way, he's become my "partner," even though...we're not officially "partners" yet. And this scenario does seem similar to Melody's case when she began to question us about her magic ability. But there's still one question left. Why did it appear now rather than when it first started, like Melody's memory ability"? Essence answered, "Well, something else I found out in these records is that with magic energy, it needs time to grow and flourish before it can make any visible appearances. Like with Aggie's case, since it took months for her to gain her magic after she received her True Colors." Aggie smiled as she added, "The same thing with Mel too. Nothing happened right away, but because Melody and I spent so much time together when we first met, slowly, the magic energy I unwillingly passed to her grew and developed into her ability." Laguna seemed to understand as she said, "Just like our relationship. McJagger and I have been together for 4 years, and when we first started dating, my heart only did that color change, but for a short while. But as we grew more fond, it became a little longer each time, and when I got to reunite with my mom and my brother, my love grew, and it allowed the magic energy inside of me to grow and expand before appearing as that forcefield in our time of need." Essence and Aggie nodded in agreement as they said in unison, "Exactly," while Aggie mentioned, "I know it may seem hard to understand at first, but once you start to peel back the layers and get into it, it can create wonderful things."
Laguna found herself grinning with pride. Now that she knew how this magic worked and why it started, she felt excited. This was something entirely new and perhaps would make a great an"troll"pological study. Then, she remembered something her father said a lot when she was young. How magic was something bad and that it would corrupt you, make you become evil, and give in to the dark side. Remembering that, Laguna's smile slowly became a frown as she looked down in nervousness. Essence noticed this and asked, "What's wrong, Laguna? you look more worried than fascinated." Laguna rubs her arms and curled the tips of her fins in fear as she sadly said, "I guess...well...now that I know about this...I fear...what If I hurt someone by accident with this ability? Or what if it causes trouble or creates harm towards my friends and family? I can't even control it yet! What if it corrupts me and...makes me act like...my dad"? Aggie quickly said, "Laguna, you won't," as she flew over to her and patted Laguna on the back, commenting, "You're different from your father. Your new magic power is a symbol of protection and love. A symbol of devotion to protect those you care for deeply. It's a forcefield anyway. Forcefield protects Trolls from harm, and it won't do anything bad. As long as you do your best to keep it under control, and you have us to help you, you'll be fine." Laguna felt Essence place a paw on her cheek as the funk queen said, "Aggie's right, Laguna. We, your mother and brother, your friends, and everyone else, are here to help. You'll be just fine."
Laguna gave a small smile at her friend's kind words, but a residing look of nervousness remained in her eyes, which Essence could notice very well. however, before she could say anything about it, Laguna had let out a small yawn in exhaustion as Essence mentioned, "Looks like someone's a bit sleepy." Aggie nodded in agreement as she commented, "I think we should take her home." Essence offered Laguna to ride on her back as the Techno Troll climbed up and onto the funk queen's back while they all started to walk out of the room together. As they exited the castle and began the log all back to Techno Lagoon, Aggie's ears began to twitch as she heard something, which caught Essence's attention as she asked, "Is something up, Aggie"? A shout of pain suddenly roared through the sky as Laguna shot up, knowing who it was as she shouted in fright, "McJagger"! She jumped off Essence's back and started running towards where the sound came from as Aggie and Essence quickly followed her. Laguna kept running as she shouted, "McJagger! Where are you"?! She heard him shout back, "Laguna! Help," as Laguna found herself in the park where she saw two familiar faces from her past trying to whip McJagger with two electrified whips, as McJagger jumped to dodge but was stumbling. Determined, she ran as fast as she could and stood in between the two Techno trolls and McJagger, shouting while spreading her arms out wide, "That's enough"! Aggie and Essence caught up to her while Aggie shouted, "What's going on"?! Laguna glared at the two red Techno trolls while exclaiming, "Neal! Seal! Leave him alone"! The brothers laughed as Seal said, "Oh look. Ms. Academic Star thinks she can save her little boy toy." Nela cackled as he mocked, "You got that right. What's she gonna do? Read to us till we beg for mercy? Like good that'll do"!
Laguna kept a firk glare on them as she asked McJagger, who was struggling to stand, "Are you ok"? McJagger got to his feet and nodded, saying, "I'm ok. Just have some bruises, and my jacket's a little torn, but I'm ok." Laguna sighed a little in relief before she heard a BANG and felt something prick her side. Laguna saw that she just got injected with something as she grabbed it and angrily tossed it away, shouting, "You trollstards," not caring the foul language she was declared. Seal sneered while Neal said, "Keep your glasses on, nerd. Lucky for you, it's nothing dangerous, but it'll soon make its presence known, "mama." And you can thank your "boy toy" for helping us." Laguna looked back at McJagger, who was holding his back right leg in pain as it had a cut that was still oozing with blood. Laguna grew furious and shouted, "How dare you hurt my boyfriend"?! Seal and Neal cackled menacingly as Aggie helped bring McJagger towards Essence while asking, "Can you stand"? McJagger struggled to stand as Essence quickly pulled out a first-aid kit, saying, "Don't worry. We'll take care of that leg for you." Aggie then decided to step in as she stood by Laguna, saying, "You two have no right to be treating others that way! Stop this right now"! Neal came up to Aggie and said, "Ha! What are you going to do about it, pink lady"?! He tried to strike Aggie, but the MMT dodged and ducked under him, saying, "I'm about to send you back to where you came from! That's what"! However, she didn't look behind her, and Seal struck Aggie by the tips of her wings with an electrified whip, shocking Aggie and paralyzing her wings, rendering her flightless.
Essence cried out in horror, "Aggie," as the MMT groaned in pain. She was then hit in the funk leg and sent to the ground. Neal then picked her up by the tail and tossed her aside, saying, "What a waste of life. She couldn't even put up a fight." Seal laughed as she said, "Yeah! Now, let's try it again! This time, on our target." Both Techno brothers launched their whips at Laguna, but she didn't dodge or try to run. She stood there as her heart changed color again, and the forcefield reappeared, reflecting the whips and sending them right back at Neal and Seal, hitting in the eye; Neal's left eye, and Seal's right eye. Both twins dropped their weapons and held their eyes in pain, shouting in agony. Aggie watched in shock as McJagger and Essence were speechless while Laguna remained glaring at them. Soon the forcefield went down, and her heart changed back to normal as Laguna finally spoke, saying, "You hurt my friends, you mess with me." Since the twins did not seem to be able to respond or stop screaming in pain, Laguna picked up the whips and tossed them aside before facing Essence, saying, "Call authority and have then sent to prison." She then walked over to Aggie and helped her up, asking, "Are you ok"? Aggie nodded and said, "My wings hurt, but aside from that, I'm ok. How about you? Are you feeling ok"? Laguna looked at her heart, which was glowing purple and beating a funk rhythm again, before answering, "I'm ok, I think." Laguna then placed a hand on her side, where one of the Techno twins had administered the syringe that inserted whatever it had in her.
McJagger stumbled over to Laguna and hugged her as he asked, "Laguna, baby! Are you alright?! I was so worried"! Laguna embraced McJagger and kissed him before stating, "I'm ok, but...what was that stuff Seal shot at me"? McJagger shrugged and commented, "I don't know. When they ambushed me and cut my leg, all they said was that my blood was needed for something related to you but was never specific." McJagger then noticed that the tip of Aggie's wings were slightly burned as he asked, "Oh no, Aggie! Your wings"! Aggie did her best to view them as she said, "They hurt a little, but I'm lucky nothing more serious happened." Essence ran over, saying, "Aggie! Laguna! Are you both ok"? Essence hugged the trio together as Aggie and Laguna nodded before the funk queen noticed Aggie's wings. She gave Aggie an ice pack, which the MMT placed on her back, and it helped soothe the pain from the electrified whip, making Aggie smile and sigh in content. Essence then noticed Laguna's side bleeding as she placed a band-aid over it, saying, "How are you feeling"? Laguna looked at the band-aid before saying, "Ok, but I'm not sure if it'll stay that way for long. I'm a little nervous as to what they shot me with." Essence then heard the techno twins starting to try and get up while they still held their injured eyes in pain before she noticed some funk trolls coming their way. They picked up the twins and brought them to a police cart, which carted them off to prison while McJagger asked, "Who were those two anyways"?
Laguna sighed as she answered, "Neal and Seal, twins who are followers of Typhoon. They love to act rowdy and were pretty harsh during my childhood. They tended to shove me into lockers and step on my tail really hard. They even broke my first pair of glasses and made me run into a pole, giving me a bruise that lasted two weeks. I hated them and did my best to avoid them throughout my life, but I didn't think I'd see those two again." Then, Essence noticed Laguna's heart change back to its original color as she commented, "I'll be, it's just as you described, Laguna. your heart did change color again." Laguna noticed her heart returning to normal as she commented, "It did because I wanted to protect Aggie and McJagger. So it is due to my love for special trolls in my life." Aggie nodded in agreement as she said, "And it's because of your devotion towards protecting others that help make this power inside of you so strong. It's both inspiring, and at the same time, incredible! You're like a superhero." McJagger and Essence laughed as the red funk troll commented, "Forcefield Girl. Danger bounces away when she comes to save the day"! Laguna found herself laughing when suddenly, a deep surge of pain ripped through her head, making Laguna drop to her knee and hold her head in pain. Essence picked Laguna up, saying, "Hang in there. We'll get you some help. Aggie, rush to Techno Lagoon and get her mom and older brother." Aggie nodded and rushed as fast as she could to Techno Lagoon. Essence then turned to face McJagger, saying, "McJagger, I know you are hurt, but can you try to run to the castle and get Quincy"? McJagger nodded and ran towards the castle, hopping into a bubble taxi and floating inside. Meanwhile, Essence placed Laguna on her back and ran to the Vibe City hospital. Laguna was emitted immediately and sent in for an examination.
Essence paced back and forth, waiting to hear the results when Quincy and McJagger came running here, Quincy saying, "Essence! How's she holding up"? Essence shook her head and answered, "I don't know. She was just rolled in. I sure hope Laguna's ok." McJagger became nervous and wanted to run in, but Quincy stopped him, saying, "Hold on a minute, boy. I know you're scared for her, but you can't just run in there." McJagger protested, saying, "But she's in a hospital room alone, in pain, scared! I can't just her there without support"! Before they knew it, Aggie came rushing in with Twilight and Finn, as Twilight shouted, "I'm here! Where's my kelpcake?! Where is she"?! Essence calmed Twilight down, saying, "It's ok, Twilight. Right now, the doctors are looking at her, trying to see what's wrong." Finn, acting out of character, hugged Aggie as he said, "Poor Laguna. She doesn't deserve this, mate. What's wrong with her"? He then glared at McJagger, shouting as he pointe this finger at him, "Did you have something to do with it"?! McJagger shook his head and raised his paws, saying, "No! I promise I had nothing to do with it"! Essence went up to Finn, saying, "It's true. McJagger had nothing to do with this sudden head pain. It just started after Laguna helped save him and Aggie." Finn breathed in and out as Twilight hugged Essence and Quincy, saying, "Crikey, I can't thank you enough for helping her out. But I have to ask, why was she here anyway"? Aggie answered, saying, "She wanted to find out about her new magic and wanted to ask the leaders for advice. As Essence helped explain to her what happened, afterward, we were about to escort her back home when we heard McJagger shout for help.
One thing led to another, Laguna stopped them, and after they got sent to prison, that's when she dropped down in pain." Twilight tipped her fedora down to cover her eyes as she commented, "Poor kelpcake. I wish I could've done more to help her, but this is so new to me too, I couldn't even do much to help her understand it better." Essence and Quincy placed their paws on both of Twilight's shoulders as Quincy commented, "Don't feel bad, Twilight. Things like these, sometimes, we struggle to try and help however we can. While we may not always have the right answers, the least we can do is support our child all the way and provide any support we can. I know that you may feel like understanding what she goes through sometimes is not an easy task, especially when it relates to topics unfamiliar to you. But, the best thing we can do in moments like these is stand by our children;'s sides and let them know that we are here to listen and help however we can." Twilight began to feel better as Finn then spoke up, crossing his arms as he commented, "Well...I usually don't like to express sentiment...but, thank you...for looking out for my little sister." Soon, a doctor came out as Aggie asked, "How's Laguna? Is she ok"? The doctor flipped through a clipboard as he answered, "No need to worry, your Majesties. The patient you brought in is going to be ok. But right now, I need to ask which one of you is the male partner of the patient." Everyone looked at one another as McJagger stepped forward, saying, "I'm her boyfriend, sir. What's up"?
The doctor looked at McJagger before stating, "Well, I need you to come with me a minute." The doctor led McJagger somewhere for a minute as Aggie was ready to follow her when Essence stopped her, saying, "Hold on, Aggie. I think e need to let the doctor speak to him privately." Aggie, despite being concerned, knew Essence was right as she replied, "Yeah, you're right. But...will she be ok"? Twilight patted Aggie's back as the elder Techno troll commented, "No worries, Aggie. Laguna's a tough fighter and won't let something gnarly like what she went through take her down so easily." Soon, the doctor and McJagger returned to the group as Quincy noticed McJagger seemed very distraught. The doctor then cleared his throat before answering, "Now, I just inform you that the good news is that Laguna is not hurt and will be ok after a good night's sleep." Hearing that made everyone feel relieved before the doctor then said, "The bad news...is that one of you guys has officially become a grandmother." That piece of news made everyone confused as Finn commented, "Uh, how is that bad? And what do you mean "someone" became a grandmother"? Aggie's eyes widened as she then said, "Wait a minute...does that mean...oh my troll"! Quincy then seemed to realize it too as he mentioned, "Oh my," while Twilight asked, "What in blazes are ya talking about, mate"? The doctor smiled and stated, "Congratulations, Ms. Tidepool. Your daughter's a mother," as everyone's jaws dropped to the floor in absolute shock.
