"I brought you dinner."
"You drove all the way here to bring me food?"
Maya gave Fitz the plate and walked further into his trailer. It was plain and barely furnished. There was one good thing about his new home. The beautiful view. Broomes Island was quite a drive from Maya and Eli's home in DC. Considering the circumstances, she didn't know why she wanted to help Fitz. The man participated in having Livvie abducted in Alaska. Well, Fitz helped her get away. That's what Olivia said. It was because of Fitz and his mom that Olivia was able to make phone calls and run. The bruises on his face were lighter than they were two weeks ago.
"I don't a have a microwave. I do have a stove I can use to reheat the food. Thanks."
"You're welcome."
"How is Olivia?"
"She's getting therapy."
"Is she going to stay in DC?"
"Yes, but that doesn't mean you two can get close. Olivia needs to finish law school. She has a long road ahead of her."
"I know that. I'm sure Olivia wouldn't be interested in a guy like me."
"I don't think you're a bad guy. However, you and Olivia need therapy and careers before you start thinking about a relationship. My kid is not going to be pregnant with PTSD."
"What's your story?"
"Excuse me?"
"You're the director of the FBI. My dad tried to sell your daughter into human trafficking, and you're helping me. I want to know what happened in your life that made you so compassionate?"
"My upbringing wasn't that different from yours. I chose to get a job going after the bad guys."
"Did your dad hit you?"
"Yeah, I covered the bruises with makeup."
"Really?"
"I have a powerful job, and I'm still healing. That's why I'm still married to my cheating husband. Do you have anymore questions for me?"
"Olivia is great, so you did something right."
"Yeah, Livvie is great."
